Bloomington is superior to my hometown in almost every way except for grocery shopping. For one thing, stores are way bigger when I'm from, and they offer better prices. I used to only go to Kroger when I needed to pick up something at the last minute. Now, Kroger is unfortunately the best option for shopping here. It's not all bad. The selection is okay. They generally stock most things I would need or want for cooking. The produce section is ALWAYS picked over though! It seems like either what I want is entirely gone, or what's left is gross and sickly.
At least it's not O'Malia's, which has high prices and super unfriendly employees.
Kroger how I miss thee. Your cheap value foods. Your endless supply of (mildly) tasty generics. Your gigantic produce aisles.
I'm back in my hometown and we don't have one of these. I sort of miss it.
I feel weird reviewing a grocery store. I guess this particular Kroger is probably a lot like any other. I like Kroger in general though so it gets a good rating.
Add that to the fact that they're a lot less "corporation-like" to those of us in the journalism biz and they get some credit in my book.
