I don't do the buffet, which is big for lunch and dinner. Takeout is just fine, but don't have super gourmet expectations. The buffet is cheaper, but I'm picky. Their crab rangoon has real crab in it, but they color their fried rice for some sort of reason; it looks like the annato yellow coloring used in Mexican rice dishes. They're friendly, and VERY fast for take out. Call ahead and unless you live across the street, it'll be ready because the buffet food is their big seller but I think the cook likes short orders.
Review Source:This place must thrive on lunch buffet and take-out orders because I almost never see more than two families actually eating in the restaurant at any given time. Â They must be doing ok though because they've been at this location for at least the past eight years. Â For being such a great ethnic food town I've always felt that Bloomington's Chinese Takeaway pickings were fair to mediocre. Â And while Golden China may not be super duper, I do feel they're the pick of the geographic litter. Â I adore their crab Rangoon, Their orange chicken, General Tso's and Szechuan chicken are also tasty though not nearly spicy enough (even when you ask for extra spicy, but I'm sure they're used to toning down the spice level for the American palate). Â I wasn't too impressed with their egg roll, but that might have been an off night...I usually skip the egg roll to save more room for the crab Rangoon. Â Oh, and I always feel their white rice is high quality and expertly cooked. Â It's always flavorful, and sticky without being mushy.
