La Cebollita is the perfect "hole in the wall" mexican restaurant. Â The food is so delicious. Â I have never had a better tasting gordita than the ones from La Cebollita. Â In fact, I'd recommend anything from their menu. Â My co-workers and I order delivery from here almost weekly. Â The service is always quick and friendly.
They have a small lot for parking, or you could park on a neighborhood street since there isn't permit parking there.
This place is the spot for authentic Mexican cuisine. Â Tacos are unrivaled and the Burritos will make you wet your pants. Â You feel like you're in Tijuana when you enter this small restaurant. Â Quietly nestled on 47th a few blocks west of Pulaski, LaCebolita hits all the right buttons. Â Staff is nice and friendly and the food is quite fresh and good. Â Verdict: Â 4 stars.

MUY RICO!!! The burritos come with everything on them- including avocado. So tasty. Chicken was excellent.
Best part besides the huge burritos, they deliver and in record time too. They were here with the food within 15 minutes of my call.
Fantastic! I think I am going to be a regular.
I can completely agree with Brian, I have also eaten here dozens of times and have had very few negative experiences.
On the weekends the Carnitas are whole pig, which is to say if you get there early you can pick the best parts, I enjoy the shoulder, ribs and some loin.  The Carnitas are a bargain and an easy picnic choice. Another thing that sets them apart from the norm are the Tamales, red, green and sweet, always fresh and plentifull on the weekends, they tend to run out on the weekdays, very rich and tender, and super cheap.
Brian said the restaurant had a comfort food quality to it and I will agree 100%, a wonderful lady usually seen on the weekends prepping or working the counter is the owners sister, she has developed the signature recipes and is one of the friendliest hosts in Chicago, the only problem is she isn't there enough. On several occasions she has brought me free samples of Chicken Croquettas, (a fried fritter like concoction) Empanadas, (the best I have ever had), and her version of Ensalata de  Nopales, (cactus salad) this is another of the weekend specials. This version of the salad features Extra virgin olive oil , aged cheese, and a lot of love.  Other highlites include tacos pastor and the steak milanesa.
Service can be a bit stoic and impersonal, but has never prevented me from enjoying the food.
Why only 4 stars?  Because of the high quality of some of the dishes, some less popular dishes tend to suffer, Burritos are average, enchiladas lack the balance of my favorites, and if you are craving a Tamale on a weekday, you should go elsewhere. Also I have noticed, even though I am a regular of 3 years, as a gringo I will have to request hot sauce for the table, the Hispanic population gets it automatically, doesn't anger me, I actually find it humorous.
As far as the drinks go, BYOB, the Horchata is very well balanced and the Agua Frescas (fruity drinks) are consistently good.
So come in on a Saturday for lunch, order a Carnitas plate, a Tamal, and enter the wonderful world of pig, FYI when you order the Carnitas they may ask if you want Pig only?  This means meat only, if you want the full experience say "con chicharon"  with skin baby, crispy and fatty a perfect complement to the tender slow cooked pork. Get a side of Avocado, they will give a whole Avocado for .75, and you will have a fantastic meal for less than a Wicker Park Martini.
 Also good for catering.
