Lakes Cafe & Pub

Lakes Cafe or as regulars call it Cafe is a great "joint" for locals who want to just hang out and have some drinks. Most recently it's been the place where old friends who haven't seen each other in years and found each on Facebook go to catch up and reconnect. That's fun.....
But last night a group (a large group) of friends went to celebrate February Birthdays (including mine). My friend, we'll call her Viv contacted Lakes Cafe to advise them about a large group that would be celebrating that night. We arrived to find there was a $10 cover charge since there was a band. Why am I upset?
A) When we called they failed to inform us about the cover charge & band
B) They've had bands before and NEVER had a cover charge
C) If you didn't pay the cover charge you could have drinks out front on the porch.but couldn't use the bathrooms inside
This is NOT a great way to encourage people to go. Let's face it; it's a small local joint with ok food and drinks. People go there for the convenience of being close to home and being able to wear jeans and a t-shirt. Not sure what they were trying to do last night...but if this continues I suggest you go down the street to Alibi, a much smaller place more upscale place with better food. I know they just remodeled so I think they're trying to make up the cost of those repairs by having a cover charge, because wasn't that good. Stick to what you really are "a local joint for LOCALS" not some upscale cover charge wanna be live band entertainment establishment....YOU'RE A BAR!
