Landmark 1859 Inn

Steak sandwich was a nice option and came at a good price point.  Liked the shoulder cut of meat and it was tender and cooked perfectly.  Also, the fries served on the side were fresh and perfectly salted.  Had the wings and they were just average.  Service wise the bartenders for the day side were "meh" but the evening staff was *much* friendlier and chatty.  Didn't like the small TVs and uncomfortable bar stools.  Still a safe place to get some eats and drinks on in the future.

We were desperate for something to eat, after driving around looking for something other than fast food,we settled here. The food was ok, the wine was ok, but the beers were good. I was there with my wife and teenage kids.  We were the youngest and oldest people there.  I am guessing the place is rocking on the weekend.

This bar has a decent beer list, but the bartender knew nothing about beer. Here's how it went down:

Me: Do you have a Dunkel?
Her: (confused look on her face) No.
Me: OK. Do you have anything really malty?
Her: We have IPAs.
Me: That would be the opposite of malty.
Her: (roll of the eyes)
My friend: I don't know a lot of the beers on this menu, but they have Oberon.
Me: May I have an Oberon please?

Part of this is my fault as I have low vision and couldn't read the small font on the menu, at least not as dark as i was in there. Of course, I like it a little darker in bars so that wasn't a bad thing. The bad thing is that I was at a bar with a decently sized beer list, and the bartender seemingly knows barely anything about beer. This was a bummer. To further the bummer, she rolled her eyes at me when I pointed out her error. Maybe a bar in a city that isn't full of people who love good beer can get away with having a bartender that knows nothing about beer, but not in this town.

On the plus side, it is a comfortable atmosphere, and they have a nice small patio.
