Well what a disappointment.  Beautiful place, great valet and nice wait staff, but what happened to the kitchen?  We were told there was a new chef, only two weeks on the job, but guess he/she forgot how to get food out to the tables.  Yes, there was a huge private party downstairs but if the kitchen cannot handle a private as well as service in the upstairs, then close the place.  This was our first and last trip here.  We were there for 2.5 hours and still no food.  Didn't even comp for the two drinks.  However, "when you come back, I'll buy you a bottle of wine".  Well methinks not!  Yup, grilled cheese at home...at least we eat.

The food and staff here were fabulous! Apparently they hired a new chef recently but their food was superb! I ordered the vegetable platter and it was a nice portion and it was delicious! My parents ordered the Seared Sea Bass with the saffron risotto and I had a bite AND IT TASTED AMAZING! The staff there were super friendly, I will definitely go again!

Bf and I came here for a wedding. I wasn't a fan of the valet parkers attempting to speak French or using fake French accents, but they weren't creepy and when we pulled up, a guy helped me out of the car. When we left, another guy ran to get our car even though it was parked across from us.

Andy, one of the servers, was really fantastic. He had a great sense of humor and was very attentive to our table, the trouble making table. He recommended the prime rib over the monkfish medallions, and I should have listened to him. The monkfish was so so. He used me as the lady of the table so he could appropriately place the right dish in front of everyone as per their order. I thought his other colleagues were really fantastic too. They did a great job keeping our glasses full and bringing food out.

As for the facility itself, it's not huge, but it was a good fit for the wedding guests (~120 people). There is an outdoor garden where we enjoyed appetizers and drinks as we waited for the wedding party to arrive.

I agree with other Yelpers that the view is amazing. On top of the perfect temperature, low humidity, and great weather, this place is located in an ideal place for a beautiful sunset. The wedding party managed to get their pictures taken as the sun was setting, and we were able to snap a few pretty pics ourselves.

This restaurant has always been a favorite for the family and business associates. We waited close to an hour for each of the three courses. The entree was lukewarm and dessert was served only upon our request. They served our coffee and hot water for tea, but we had to request sugar and teabag! The waiter brought our check before serving us dessert! Dinner and service was quite disappointing for an upper class establishment.

HERE I AM, IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE, AND A SECOND DAY OF COUNTRY FRENCH, OH NO.

Traditional style French Restaurant, Asian Waiter?

Lunch only 2 weeks a year. Strange but true. Guessed the right week.
    (harder then picking the lotto)

Asked if the ice tea was fresh brewed.Told yes, but it was soda fountain ice tea. YUK

Snails in butter and garlic were good, but the Chef Country Pâté Arrived looking old and dull textured, hard and dry.

Osso Bucco arrived. My advice, hire a real saucier..

AFTER TODAY, I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE LONG AWAITED JEAN-GEORGE'S RESTAURANT OPENING IN UPPER WESTCHESTER.

Great food, great service, wonderful atmosphere. Classic/old school fine dining - a rarity!

We dined there last night (7/5/12) for my birthday. I was born and raised in Paris, France with all the formal upbringing one can possibly imagine. Even with "formal" food. And you know how we need to go back to these roots, once in a while. Well, last night, I did. I can safely say Le Chateau is as good as a Parisian "formal" restaurant. It has the setting, the view, the service and .... the Chateaubriand! Les escargots etaient superbes aussi.

My husband and I would only suggest a couple of things: better bread (a must if you have a French restaurant) and a waiter to tell you about the prix fixe menu. We would not have used it last night but we would have liked to have known about it.

With this said, and did I mention the lovely "garniture" that arrived with the Chateaubriand -tender carrots, tomatoes fresh from outside, spinach to melt in the mouth and a bearnaise "faite maison" tout a fait remarquable? Le Chateau is a splendid place. Not your average trendy new cuisine and atmosphere. Rather old money and elegance oozing from the walls. Merci. Nous reviendrons.

Remarkable, plain and simple.  The food is excellent.  My wife had the steak and I had the venison, both were very good.  The desserts are extraordinary.  The Baked Alaska was amazing and the Grand Marnier Souffle is from another world.  The view is unlike any other and the service is attentive.  Our waiter told us that he has 32 years with the restuarant and he was the most pleasant person imaginable.  We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Disappointing, food served cold, ruined my new years a couple years ago.

All elements of this restaurant work very well- quality, ambience, service and of course the excellent offerings. The striped bass and snapper are wonderful. The steak au poivre is also a good choice. Order the dessert souffle as you order your first cocktail. You will not be disappointed.

we went to a small wedding, about 60 people on a weekday, the place was quiet and the ceremony was solemn. too bad it was pouring rain and we were not able to see the view outside. the food was good but there's no place to sit or eat for the cocktails, we hang around the bar coz we dont know where to go. the waiters are really trying to please everybody and i think they did a good job. they had a dj that played up to date tunes too. so, the food was great but the place is just a little small.

Went there for a birthday dinner recently with my inlaws.  We had been before and thought of LC as a special place. I explained our occasion when I booked and the woman I spoke to assured me she would let the staff know.  She also told me we would be seated "upstairs" where they have a new "lounge" and an "intimate" small dining room. We could choose either space.

When we drove up the valet was nowhere in sight so we parked ourselves. He then came bounding out of the front door as we walked up.  Apparently it is warmer in doors.  Inside, no one greeted us and we had to approach the Maitre 'd who did not check us in but merely directed us towards the staircase. A loud private event was taking place in the main dining room and that clearly was her focus.

At the top of the stairs there was no one to greet us so we walked into "JP's" the new lounge. A waiter called to us from the bar and told us to take any table.  The room was small and the tables smaller. A large bar takes up about a third of the floor space.  Only one table could accommodate us and we practically bumped elbows at it. We took one look at the paper table cloth and package of crayons (and no place settings!) and decided to move to the small dining room.  It was about the size of a large bedroom.  It was so small that the wait staff had to stand around out in the hallway and we passed them on the way in.  The room was brightly lit and muzak played in the background.  It sort of felt like a Dr.'s waiting room but without the magazines. The tables were very small but at least they were set and covered with cloth.

We ordered from the wine list and we all decided to have the prix fixe menu.  My carrot soup appetizer was pretty bland and unimaginative but the Cesar salads were fresh and crisp.  The mains were noticeably small compared to what other diners were being served. Ok, it was prix fixe but the portions seemed more like a child's plate than a standard main course. Several of us ordered the hanger steak but none of the dishes had the blue cheese reduction as promised. Not much attention to detail. While my steak was good, overall, the food was boring.  Nothing about it sparkled.  We also had to pour our own wine and did so until our waiter noticed and insisted on doing it for us.  The deserts were fine but no one took notice of our birthday.  They did mark the birthday of another guest in our dining room however. This only made us feel worse.

When we left, we passed the Maitre 'd in the lobby who was dancing to the loud music with another member of the wait staff.  This place needs some adult supervision.

Conclusion: Le Chateau is no longer a special occasion destination for us.  Try the Roger Sherman Inn instead (New Canaan).

Last night My husband and I decided to try a new restaurant, and with 4-star rating, on Yelp - how could it go wrong?

Well, it did. The whole evening was ridiculous, really. Dirty water glasses, dried-out, salty food, dirty table cloth, almost no service to speak of.

To start, the place looks gorgeous, and they have Valet. The Valet, however, just takes your car & you don't even get a ticket/stub. Odd.

We were seated, and asked if we wanted cocktails. We requested the Wine list, and were also brought the 'special' Valetine's menu. They gave us no explanation of the Menu, it was just odd.

After getting our drinks and champagne we both had our starters, both were average. We finished our starters, along with what was in our Champagne and Water glasses, only to have them sit empty for upwards of 15 minutes, despite the fact someone actually came after 10 minutes to finally clear our plates.

The mains were just, well, horrible. They were so salty, and dry. It was clear they were all made earlier on, and were stored under heat lamps in the kitchen. Eek. I couldn't even have more than a few bites. These plates, too, took a while to be removed.

Desserts were good, but when we were offered a Tea selection and heartily accepted, we were then brought a pot of Herbal Chamomile tea?!?!?! Neither of us wanted it, or were even asked.

Everything was just so poor that we couldn't do anything but laugh at the weirdness of it all. How does this restaurant get this rating?!?! Perhaps it was a 'Holiday weekend' problem, but it was so so terrible, we couldn't even think about giving it a 2nd chance.

If I could give it 0-stars, I would!

I went for valentines day dinner on 2/12 and had an average/good dining experience. I have a feeling I would give this place 4 stars on any other weekend but because it was Valentines weekend they seemed understaffed and the service was not great.

Setting/ Ambiance: 3.5 Stars- I really liked the place but our seat was wedged in between two large parties so we didn't get a romantic dinner that we had hoped for. Again- they probably had about 5-10 too many tables set up. Maybe on a normal night we would have had a better experience.

Food: 4 Stars --- Food was prepared well but wasn't anything special. I was pleasantly surprised that the portions were decent and I left the meal full and satisfied. Preferred the duck over the veal.

Service: 2 Stars -Reading reviews on Zagat and Opentable- service was one thing that everyone raved about. I found service to be average at best. Wine glasses / water glasses were never refilled, waitstaff was not knowledgable, had to request bread when others were brought bread right away. However, hostess and valet were both friendly.

Overall: 3 Stars - Had a nice dinner but nothing to write home about. Would not go back for valentines day. Don't think I'll go back anytime soon.

Also- I think they need a bigger bar---all 4 seats at the bar were all filled so we were just standing around while we waited for our table---couldn't get a seat to get a drink.

1900's house, excellent service and food, white tablecloth restaurant.  Elegant, expensive and worth the money.  Another old style french restaurant with all the service and decor that goes along.

I have brought very high end wines here, but almost every restaurant I know will allow that.

Went here for a wedding.  The grounds are breathtaking and beautiful for photos.

The cocktail hour had a full bar, with a pretty good bartender.  Waiters walked around with trays of typical hors d'oeuvres.  Most were tasty.  The coconut shrimp were slightly dry.

I do not remember the salad, but my fillet mignon was devine!  It was the thickest piece I've ever been served at a wedding and it was cooked perfectly.  The best wedding steak I've had, it topped the fillet at Water's Edge but not by much.

The cake that the couple chose was delicious....I ate four pieces.

The staff was nice and friendly for the most part.

This place is perfect for a small wedding of under 100 guests.

Some things never change. Le Chateau is what a fabulous restaurant's all about. She's a great old lady, but the styles she dons are always appropriate for the times.

The current menu is, for lack of better words, value-priced. Far from being stuffy, this archetypal French restaurant responds to the times well.

For thirty years we've been able to go there, dismiss the menus, ask for Escargots, a salad and a veal chop and we've never been disappointed. Ever. Don't laugh at the dishes that might become caricatures of themselves (yes, onion soup gratinee!) Everything here is filled with flavor from a professional French-style kitchen where the stock-pot and butter rule!

The building has been maintained amazingly well over the years and is a showplace. By all means, make time to walk the grounds at sunset before you go in; the surroundings define the term "de Luxe."

A few restaurants in the area try to compete, but they never will. I can safely say that Le Chateau blows other local landmarks (Stonehenge, The Inn At Ridgefield) out of the water on all aspects.

Go here. It's not expensive as one might think; if you've dined in better Manhattan restaurants you won't be in for any surprises.

If they're not too busy, you can take dessert, coffee and after-dinner port or cordials in a separate room, and savor the atmosphere. I remember years ago an occasion that involved about a dozen courses. Mid-meal, we were invited to get up and walk around a bit, as the menu was pretty rich. As we walked out onto the terrace, we were handed a fabulous glass of Sancerre that we all drank while we waited for the first 4-5 courses to settle before going in to do more serious damage to our arteries. That was a peak experience for me, and I'll remember that sunset on the terrace forever.

One tip, about tips. Be prepared to be very generous with the captain (before the fact) and then after-the-fact with the servers. Especially now that the owners have toned down the prices a little in response to the economy. They're giving you service of the caliber that normally costs far more (can anyone say La Grenouille?)

Go here. Be prepared to eat soup-to-nuts. Be prepared to pay several hundred dollars for a fabulous bottle of wine. Be prepared to be pampered like you've not been for quite some time.

Where do I begin? I had my wedding at Le Chateau and it is a beautiful place with incredible service and fantastic food.

An elegant French restaurant set in a beautiful stone and wood house built by J.P. Morgan, they have dinner, brunch, and is available to host parties.

Though I can speak about dinner there as well, I'll focus on having a wedding.

Despite being about an hour north of where we had our ceremony, we decided to have our reception at Le Chateau because of the gorgeous architecture of the building and the break taking views of woodsy Northern Westchester's treetops from the back of the house (it is set up high on a hill). They also have a beautiful stone-walled garden where we had our cocktail hour.

Prior to seeing an ad for Le Chateau in a bridal magazine, we had never heard of it before and scheduled an appointment to take a look at the facility. After looking at several places in Manhattan, it was like a breath of fresh air, literally. You have the option of having the entire house set aside for your party or just the main reception room. We had the entire house, which gave us access to the bridal suites upstairs and the various patios outside. (Plus, then you dont have strangers peering into your wedding reception who may be having dinner on the other side of the restaurant).

The service was fantastic - the matire d', Cous, is beyond-words fantastic; at one point, ushering my new husband and I into the bridal suite so that we would eat something.

All of the guests said the food was the best part of the evening - no one went home hungry. Between the cocktail hour hors d'oeuvres , an appetizer, a salad, sorbet, and entrees of filet mignon and Chilean sea bass, barely anyone could eat the dessert sampler which consisted of 5 different desserts - not including wedding cake! (Their pastry chef made and decorated a beautiful all-chocolate cake).

There are so many more great things to say about the whole planning process and how helpful they were, especially Lee, but that will be for another entry.

I have to give this restaurant the highest rating because my experience was excellent. The food, service, ambiance, staff, wine selection, everything was just great. It is an expensive restaurant, and you definitely have to dress up nice, but for a once in a while elegant experience this is a nice place to go to.
