Discovered Lexington Beerworks online prior to a trip to Lexington to cover the 2013 NCAA Basketball Tournament. In person it turned out to be even better. This is an outstanding beer bar, and that comes from someone who is a serious craft beer aficionado and has visited many other beer bars in many other locales. You can go to places elsewhere with more tap handles, but you won't find a better lineup of quality brews. I continue to follow them on facebook, so I can promise you it was not just lucky timing when I visited. Their flight night offerings are always intriguing and well thought out. Their bottled beers list is extensive. And the folks behind the bar are cheerful, welcoming and knowledgeable.  The atmosphere is classy, this is no dive. But it is comfortable, and has a nice intimacy that allowed me to strike up conversations with strangers at the bar. I spent little more than an hour there before departing for dinner at a place they recommended (good recommendation there, too), but left feeling as if I'd made new friends and each time I see their updates on facebook, I wish I could return to Lexington more often. Seriously, I miss the place - it was that nice. As an aside, they also have a nice little homebrew shop, too, and offer lessons for beginners.

I used to tell people I didn't like beer, but turns out I just hadn't found one I liked. Thanks to LBW, I've now found several! Whether you're a craft beer connoisseur or just looking for a change from your Miller or Bud, you can definitely find something tasty here, and the staff are completely friendly and willing to help you out if you're not sure what you'll like. It can get pretty busy on the weekends, but when I've come in weekdays, they're always happy to chat a bit and help me find something I'll like.

Price-wise, I don't have a lot of experience with craft beers at other places, so I can't compare, but most options are $4-$5 per glass or bottle, with a few exceptions. I'm a starving grad student and I'm happy to spend my bar budget here. Best part for me, it's just down the street from where I live, so I stop by as often as I can afford!

I was chipping around when Chip and I came up on this place we had not been. So we had a drink or few. Fun little find. Too early to say much more

Lexingtonians apparently love their craft beer - one of many reasons I love Lexington. I came in here alone last night, and after 3 pints of Southern Tier IPA and pumpkin ale, I was bff's with the entire bar. The nice owner introduced himself; we talked about books. The bartender didn't mind that I kept referring to the University of Kentucky as "U K Y" (apparently this is very, very wrong) and the UKY mascot as the "gamecock" (also totally wrong. You can tell how much I love sports. Go sports!)

In terms of selection, this was like the beer Library of Congress - just unbelievable how big the beer list was. The food situation was a little weird though, involving a symbiotic relationship with a grilled-sandwich food truck out back. It seekers criminal to me to have a beer place without at least a few pretzels, craft mustards, and cheeses on hand, but hey, at least the food truck cheesesteak was bangin'.

Knowledgeable and friendly staff there. It's a great space, offering more seating than Beer Trappe. The selection of beers is generally a bit more accessible than Beer Trappe as well, which isn't necessarily a good thing, nor a bad one.

I really wanted to like this place, even before it opened.  It's close to work and where I live, and is in a nice older block in a well-preserved area of downtown.  I set my expectations high, and I wasn't disappointed in the least.  The beer selection is always nice, the taps rotate, and you can always depend on a few staples being offered on tap (Old Rasputin nitro  and Milk Stout nitro are pretty much a given). The guys who own the bar are excited about their business, will chum it up with you, and their social media communication is great - from twitter promos, yelp check in discounts, and facebook tap lists.  The taproom is clean, somewhat dim, but has character, and there's always a variety of sporting events on the flat screen TV's.  They have also steadily transitioned into the double story deck, which has a pub feel downstairs, and a lounge vibe upstairs.  Though they don't have their own kitchen, you can get light snacks at the bar and they sponsor a number of food trucks that rotate Thu-Sat evenings.  You can also bring in your own food.  A nice community place for beer, and a great hangout for people who are interested in the craft of brewing.  Though I don't brew my own beer, there is a nice supply of homebrewing items here that seems to keep the local brewmasters happy.  All in all, a great place to hang out and have a couple pints, or buy the materials to make them yourself.

This is a beautiful and very comfortable space. I love the vibe here, not to mention the nice beers on tap. I'm so glad they're here in town.

I thought these guys were connected with the Six Street Brewing guys, now that I got that off my chest, my second experience in here was much better than my first. Just go on the non-busy times, relax and try something new. I really enjoyed my last sunday in there.

Lexington Beerworks is a welcome addition to the local beer scene. The location is great. Right in the center of downtown.

Knowledgable employees, great selection of draft and bottled beers, and the home brewer supply store is great for those who brew their own beer.

A bit larger and much more seating than The Beer Trappe.

This stylish bar is carved out of an older building near Columbia's on North Limestone and caters to the home brewing beer enthusiast. There are twelve rotating taps with notable craft brews.  The bottled beer list has some interesting names and to the quick glance ranks far above most bars in town.

I went on the very second day of its opening. I think there were 12 taps. All good if not exciting. That, though, is to be expected from a place that is just getting started, needs to build a client base, and needs to sell good quantities of what it has before distributors start sending over rare or harder to find beers. Owner was very friendly.  Place is really nice inside and has been remodeled nicely. No bottle shop, which is unfortunate, but there are homebrew supplies. I'm hoping Beerworks does really well and grows into a major stop in Lexington for beer nerds. Maybe they should host beer tastings and special events when they are settled.
