Nothing makes Spammy The Review pig happier than good atmosphere and great food. Little India's is located in the Belmar Shopping Center. Its soooo nice there at night in summertime. Its cool with shops and a movie theater and is bustling with people - but still somehow quiet. 'We' ate outside and it was dark and relaxing. Belmar rules! Our waiter "Jyoti" was knowledgable and attentive. The Tandori wing appetizer is soooo good!
Spammy gives it "4 TROUGHS' Up!
This place is perfectly situated in the Belmar shopping center directly across from the theater so it's a perfect date night dinner and a movie deal. I did just that recently and...
Two words:
Chicken vindaloo. Hot as hell, literally, but delicious. While this Little India location definitely reminds me of P.F. Chang's, the service was great and the food was scrumptious. My only complaint was that the order of naan was tiny and while tasty, was not on par with some naan I've had at some run-down hole in the wall Indian joints. But that is probably just me being picky.
I love this place! I have never ever had something here that I didn't like. I have to eat gluten free and it is very easy to do, with most of their dishes being gluten free anyways. They recently started having a man playing a sitar, which really adds to the overall experience. Great food and nice atmosphere.
Review Source:The best Indian food in town. This is my favorite Indian restaurant and the decor is lovely. Our serve Sara was so attentive and really nice. We have had questionable service here before and therefore only want to sit in her section. The live music is confusing at times but luckily it is in the bar area. One of my favorite restaurants by far!
Review Source:Yum from start to finish every dish we ordered was amazingly good! I have eaten Indian food all over the world. Yes, it's Americanized, but I am totally fine with that, if you want it spicier just ask for it! I dare you!
Chicken Tikka divine!
Chicken Korma delish!
Onion bhaji spicy but tasty.
Chicken biryani had a lovely coconut flavor to it.
Nan was hot and perfectly cooked.
Cucumber raita was flavored well and fresh.
Kingfisher beer with lime was cold and refreshing.
The staff are super friendly and really helpful. They went above and beyond to help us pack up our food securely so we could transport our left overs to our mountain destination.
We enjoyed several more days of Little India's food and it was better each time.
I was thrilled to receive 10% off for checking in Go YELP!!
It looked like their buffet was popular with the locals. I prefer to order my food fresh, but by the looks of it the buffet appealed to plenty of people.
The restaurant is modern, comfortable, and clean. We will definitely return on our next trip to Denver!
1st time here. Fairly new to Indian food. Our server was very helpful for us "newbies." The decor, music, and overall atmosphere was great. It was energetic in there, but also very comfortable for a date.
We liked the food. I can't say we loved it, but that's probably just because we haven't fully acquired a taste for it. Either way, we will definitely try it out again.
I haven't had Indain Food in years, so when it was suggested I jumped all over it. Â
Came in on a Saturday night, it was busy but they seemed to be turning tables around quickly so the 15-20 minute wait really didn't feel like it was that long. Â There was a nice little Jazz Trio playing off to the side when you walk in, and it wasn't too loud so you could still hear your conversation. Â We took a seat at the bar while we waited and perused the drink menu. Â I opted for a beer while my dinner companion ordered a Moscow Mule. Â That was pretty interesting drink, although not something I would order regularly if at all.
We were seated and greeted promptly by our server. Â He was really nice, but extremely soft spoken. Â I had a hard time understanding him when he would talk to him, which was kind of a bummer. Â We started with one of the "special" appetizers which to the life of me I can't remember what they were called. Â They were little bits of fried potato heaven though and the dipping sauces were good. Â Then we ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala, Lamb Saag and the Garlic Naan. Neither dish was overly spicy but did have a great flavor and the Garlic Naan was warm and just yummy. Â
Our waiter was great, despite the aformentioned soft spoken part. Â He was attentive and we never had an empty water glass. Â Only bummer, when I checked in they were offering a Yelp deal when I checked in, which I happily accepted, but then realized that you couldn't use it on the weekend. **Sad Face**
Overall a good experience and I am pretty sure that I will be back!
Pretty decent Indian food. Â I've only come here for their lunch buffet, and it is really tasty! Â The staff is great, and they are on the spot with clearing dishes, refilling drinks, making sure everyone is happy and taken care of. Â I've never done a dinner or anything here, but I feel like I should.
Review Source:We have been to Little India a few times now. Â Tonight as we were leaving a happy family with full bellies, I thought "I really should Yelp this place".
The food is consistently delicious, tasty naan cooked perfectly (not a fan of the burnt edges on naan at some restaurants), saag paneer awesome, tikka masala excellent, some lamb dish very tasty this evening.
The service really is outstanding. Â They are helpful in making recommendations and there are at least 3 people bringing drinks, naan, clearing dishes, refilling water, etc. from the time you sit down. Overall just very attentive. Â When we have gone in with two small children, they always take such good care of us and serve up a standard mac n cheese kids meal that's a hit with the little people.
Parking on the street is easy if you don't want to deal with the lots/garage parking.
Patio is nice too, and in the winter the Belmar skate rink is just outside. Good times.
Great food, very friendly staff. Â The owner, Vinny, is omnipresent to make sure high standards are maintained. Â Live jazz on Saturday evenings. Â My favorite is spict chicken tikka masala. Â My wife, a vegan, likes the alu roti with a side of masala sauce. Â Friendly locals that live at Belmar can usually be found at the bar. Â Stop in and say hello!
Review Source:Update: Â Delivery was Fast and Awesome.
I got the Seekh Kabob (From the menu:) "Minced lamb blended with onion, garlic, ginger, and spices, wrapped around skewers and baked, served on sizzle platter with onions" and a side of Garlic Naan.
It's chilly out tonight, and even the Naan was still warm when it got here. Â (Much faster than the quoted 45-60 minute time.) Â Then again, I live less than a mile away, and it was just pure slothfulness (Hey, I was already in my jammies) that kept me from picking it up. Â But sometimes it's just worth it. Â
They still give you the huge amount of rice, cooked perfectly (it better be... it's an INDIAN restaurant!) and the Kabob comes with some sort of Tamarind Chutney Sauce... which was... holy WOW. Â I tasted it first... and then I "tasted" another spoonful... and then I "tasted" ANOTHER spoonful... You get the idea.
There's more than enough leftover in the fridge to feed me for 2 more meals.
I should really try that  buffet lunch thing they've got going on...
This place is not too expensive, their dahl is decent (Tandoori Grill in Boulder does it better), their curries are pretty solid, and their naan is good. They have an unusually populated dessert menu with items like a salted caramel cake, which was surprisingly unexciting - a mushy vanilla cake with VERY sweet caramel which tasted like it was left uncovered in a fridge.
Review Source:Reading many of the high mark reviews dissuaded us from looking at other places to dine in the area. Â Now wishing I had reviewed a few other Indian restaurants on Yelp, for example, Namaste in Lakewood, before heading to Little India in Belmar, I think my dining experience would have been more pleasurable. Â
First, our reserved table was given away because we were a few minutes late despite the presence of a friend who was waiting for us (don't know why they didn't seat him while waiting for me and my companion). Â
And why do they use red plastic containers, similar to dive-restaurant french fry holders to serve bread and other condiments?  If I wanted to look at red-plastic food holders, Red Robin burger joint would have sufficed nicely.  It was not visually appealing in the least and certainly did nothing to enhance the lovely, well-thought out décor. Â
Unfortunately, the décor cannot substitute for poor service.  Although wait staff was friendly they did not possess the skill and promptness  needed to satisfy a paying customer.
Â
The food? Â It is not worth a thoughtful comment except it was bland and not at all on par with other Indian food dining experiences. Â We ordered a second round of naan which was forgotten. Â The excuse? Â Our order was given to other servers, with the comment by our waiter "I do not speak Indian" in his effort to explain why our naan order was not delivered. Not saying it was our servers fault; but the process was poorly organized and without an attempt to rectify the situation. NOT ACCEPTABLE!!!!
We will not return. Â We will, however, not recommend eating here to our friends and out of town associates. Â I am sure, in the nook and crannies of Denver's ethnic eating community, far better food and service awaits.
We ordered the Vegetable Biryani and the Shrimp Vindaloo. Â The Vindaloo was nice and spicy and the Biryani was quite delicious! Â The dinner menu is large portions so we had some to take home. Â Service was good although they first sat us at a very wobbly table and never bothered to fix it after they resat us. Â They just reset it with new napkins. Â We had Moscow Mules for drinks and they were pretty terrible. We will definitely be back, just not for their drink specials.
Review Source:I remember the lunch buffet to be better, but that was YEARS ago. Now when I see Naan bread and Tikka Masala are omitted from the buffet table, I get turned off. Good thing friends from our table ordered from the menu and I got a share of their Naan bread. Interestingly though, Little India's Naan is fantastic when served hot. By the end of the meal when the bread's gotten cold, it was much worse than cold Naan bread I had from other Idian restaurants...
Sadly, the highlight of my lunch buffet was the sweets: mango custard on top of rice pudding; and some warm, carrot mixture thing that was milky and sweet.
Our waiters were not the sharpest. When the 7 of us sat down and one without silverware, he wouldn't notice until we tell him. I asked for hot water with my meal and he brought it out with three fingers holding the rim of the cup, eww eww eww, who knows where his hands have been! That was just not right. Four of us at the table had the buffet and the rest ordered from the menu, it took a long time for them to get our checks right, sigh...
I plan to come and order dinner one of these days and if I don't experience better, there are plenty of mom and pop Indian joints around town!
Went here after a movie. I don't know, it was pretty disappointing. I feel pretty new to the Indian food world but I have DEFINITELY had way better Indian food than this place. Also, I know this has nothing to do with the restaurant, and I'm not rating the place based on this, but there were some WEIRD people eating here and it felt like all of them were staring at us. So it was just really uncomfortable. I don't want to go back. The weird people wouldn't stop me from going back, but the food being bland sure will. We also didn't get any naan or whatever until our second or third round from the buffet. Also the buffet was really lackluster.
Review Source:O....... M........ G.......
This was my first time trying GOOD Indian food, and I CAN'T WAIT to go back. Seriously this was probably one of the most delicious types of food I've ever put in my mouth.
Our waitress was very friendly and appreciated our humor (I love it when people think I'm funny).
The atmosphere was chill and the food was delicious. I will be back ASAP!
First off I will preface by saying this review is ONLY of their lunch buffet. I've never been here for dinner, nor ordered anything off the regular menu.
I work in the Belmar area some weekdays and this place was my mainstay with a coworker for lunch. Good stuff, typical Indian buffet fare, nice selection of fresh vegetables and it wasn't the same menu every day which was good.
Then about 6 months ago, I ate at the buffet and about 30 minutes later, felt overly full (I had 1 plate and one small piece of naan, not a huge amount of food) and spent the next 6 hours bloated, painfully gassy, and with severe indigestion. Went away that night and I thought not more of it. About two weeks later I went back. Exact same thing happened. I have eaten at other Indian restaurants since and did not feel this way. Then, yesterday I went back after a near 6 month hiatus. Same issue, AGAIN. I would not wish this kind of perpetual, awful discomfort on anyone. I was in the office bathroom at least 3 times an hour until 5:30, then I had to endure an hour-long drive home with my stomach gurgling unhappily.
Research shows that my issue is probably linked to some type of foodborne pathogen. Most likely they aren't holding the food at correct temperatures (it's not getting cold or hot enough) and may be heating the same trays of food over and over for the buffet.
Not good.
I debated giving this place five stars, but am only giving it four, as I've never been there for anything but the lunch buffet.
But, the lunch buffet is always really, really good. Â There's always a pretty decent array of choices, and I like that there are always several vegetarian options. Â They don't have naan at the buffet, but instead bring a basket of fresh naan to your table. Â We usually ask them for a new basket before we're done with the old, so there's no waiting. Â I can't speak for the service during the regular hours and the regular menu, but the service we've had for the buffet is always prompt and quite pleasant. Â Â The food is always hot, and they replenish it often. Â No crunchy, dry bits that have been sitting out too long.
The ambiance is worth noting, because it's beautiful. Â They have a nice outdoor seating area for when the weather is nice, and inside, the decor is quite lavish and really pleasing. Â Even the bathrooms are decorated nicely and pleasant to experience.
I'd definitely recommend. Â But, as I usually say with all Indian restaurants, the buffet is almost always the way to go. Â Indian food isn't usually very cheap, and it's nice to be able to taste many kinds of food for a flat price.
The lunch buffet is seven days a week and is $8.99, which really isn't a bad price at all for the quality of food they offer.
I've must of went on an off day because the food in the buffet was not good at all. I've tried a lot of chicken tikka masala but theirs was not tasted at all. It tasted too citrus to the point after two spoonfuls I stopped eating. I'm from California and where I live there is a big Indian community and my favorite Indian restaurant to eat at is Khana Peena their food is the best.
I've been looking around for an Indian restaurant but most of the ones I go to their tikka masala is nothing compared to Khana Peena.
I usually go to Little India for the lunch buffet. It's delicious and has a lot of options to choose from or sample. If you're not a buffet kind of person they do have a good menu though.
The atmosphere is lovely enough so that you could take a date there, but you can be comfortable being casual as well, I believe. It's clean and the staff are friendly and attentive as well. I once mentioned when I got back to the table that they were out of naan at the buffet and had every intention of asking when there would be more, but I didn't have to; someone overheard me and brought a fresh basket to my table before I got the chance. Nice, right?
Indian food is one of my favorite things to eat and this place is pretty excellent. I would eat here at least once a week if I could.
I'm no connoisseur of Indian cuisine, but I know what tastes good. Â This food was good.
The venue is clean and nicely appointed. Â It was a pleasant lunch, the place looks clean and the staff were very nice...and attentive. Â Even though I followed Yelpers' advice and ate from the buffet, the table service was great.
Excellent service. All day Happy Hour on Saturday. Delicious food. Ylep check-in promo. Wi-Fi.
After exiting the cinema, we checked out the large sign at Little India advertising all day Happy Hour. Before deciding to eat there, we whipped out our phones to see the rating and discovered that there was a Yelp check-in bonus. A free glass of wine. Very good.
The Happy Hour is $2 Coors Light (not my favorite, but cheap is cheap). $3.50 house wine and $5 on some special cocktails. Great.
The lunch specials were $9 and very tasty. I asked for extra hot Vindaloo and got extra hot.
The service from the waiter and the bartender was superb. Very friendly and knowledgeable about India and its food and history. Attentive without being obsequious.
We will return and sit on the patio under the brolly again. I am a fan.
I feel that I've officially been to this location enough times to declare my true love for it. Yes, it's in white-bread Belmar, and yes, the lighting inside is a bit bright for my picky taste (I'm a bit of a vampire when it comes to ambiance.... I like a fair amount of mood lighting, if you catch my drift). Those being minor, over-lookable gripes, I give Little India 5 stars based on the following:
SERVICE! Everyone who works here, from the hosts/hostesses to the bussers to the servers to the managers is super duper nice, friendly, have impeccable timing, and most of them are pretty funny, too. The guy who took care of us a couple times back was a riot: when husband ordered his delicious Lamb Vindaloo extra spicy, our waiter (who's name I wish I could remember) declared, "Sir, you are a brown man trapped in a white man's body." Laughter ensued, the vindaloo was perfectly spiced, we were happy.
FOOD! Duh, of course the food. It's consistently amazing, and I'm on a pretty big Chicken Tikka Saag kick right now. Hot tip: mixing the saag and the vindaloo together makes magic in your mouth. Just sayin'. They also bring a delightful what I like to call "Indian version of chips and salsa" (it has a real name, but for the life of me I can neither pronounce nor remember it) before the meal, which is some crispy naan (I think) with 2 yummy sauces. I haven't tried deserts yet because I'm always stuffed from the meal, but I'll let you know if I ever do.
DRINKS! Ok, all I really have to say about this is that on Fridays, they have the Tandoori margarita on $5 special. Get it, or regret it.
REASONABLE PRICES! I'm not sure that one deserves all caps, but we'll leave it that way for consistency. For what you get, yes, the prices are fair and I've never balked at our bill.
So there you have it! Enjoy.
I went here with a friend for a bite and a drink on a Friday night after the Baker St. Pub next door was packed to the walls with people-one of the smarter decisions I've made!
Like others have mentioned, the atmosphere is great. Nice, but not too upscale and great decor. Even when you walk in you get a big whiff of a bunch of great smelling spices and your mouth starts to water!
The host greeted us as soon as we walked in in a friendly manner-we asked if we could just sit at the bar, he said sure.
We sat down and the bartender came over right away to greet us, get us menus, and give us some suggestions. His drinking mixing knowledge was quite deep! We ended up ordering a hot drink of his that had chai tea, hazelnut liquor, and I believe vodka. My god was it tasty! One of the  best drinks I've ever had and nice to have on such a cold night.
I ordered some chicken dumplings and my friend a chicken curry kind of thing. While that was getting made, the bartender kept having good conversation with my friend and I-and real conversation, not "I'm trying to impress you for a tip" conversation. This guy was really cool. He also made a famous margarita of his that includes a sweet sauce you usually use to dip their bread in (I wish I knew what it was called!) and give my friend some on the house and enjoyed a glass with us.
When our food was ready, the server came over and remembered exactly who had what and was equally genuine and nice.
The food was really delicious, and was definitely not something you can get anywhere (at least, not in this quality)
So overall, absolutely great experience here. Great staff, great food, great drinks! I'll be back.
This place has pretty good South Asian food at a very reasonable price. Their vegetable dishes are tasty and although it's a small restaurant, the setting is nice. I ordered the Chickpea masala and Mattar Paneer (peas and cheese). Both dishes were tasty and filling.
The service was great and setting wasn't bad either. It's in downtown though, so you'd have to find street parking.
I'd definitely visit again for when i need my "desi" food fix...
A very nice Indian place where the atmosphere is upscale yet comfortable, The colors are relaxing and recall curry and saffron. The interior decoration and service keep this place from being just a three.
The waiter knew the menu and could illuminate just about any dish with discussions of relative spiciness, etc. I chose the lamb curry. Though it was delicious and savory in its own way, I have had other examples that were more curry-ful, if that makes sense. I didn't find it especially hot, which made me regret staying away from the madras and the vindaloos which were said to be "very hot". Well, "very hot" to me means "still stinging on the way out the day after". I don't think much in this place would reach that level.
I chose to upgrade the rice to the basmati variety loaded with veggies and garlic. It was ok, but strangely not that flavorful.
I would choose to go back at some time thanks to the atmosphere and service, but I can think of other Indian places that provided more bang for the buck based on this single visit.
After a fabulous dinner with 2 of my friends, I'm upping my rating to 4 stars. Â Food was absolutely delicious: Â Momo appetizer (Indian style dumplings served with special onion chutney), Chicken Tikka Masala, Garlic naan, Cheese naan. Â Their naan is very good, but not the best I've had. Â We also got the special for that day. Â I can't remember what it was called, but it was Tandoori Lamb Chops topped with a red masala sauce, on a bed of saffron rice. Â Holy moley, this dish was AMAZING. Â
Service was great, as our waters were always full, and our waitress gave us Happy Hour prices way past 7pm. Â I do think it's a little pricey, but I know I'll definitely be back!
**Quick Tip: Â They now deliver!! Â Yesss!!
Got the lamb korma and a beer on happy hour. Great flavor and good service!
I've been very pleased with the one on 6th Ave for years, and I'm equally impressed here. The dishes appear to be small, but you just keep adding the rice to them, and they feed a lot of people with amazingly filling flavors.
Two friends, my husband and I came here last night and had a good experience. We made a reservation, not that we really needed to, and wer egiven our choice of where to sit. It was very nice outside so we sat on their patio, which was really pleasant. Our waitress was very nice considering that despite our reservation, half of our party was a bit late.
Little India has daily drink specials, in addition to happy hour. Saturday was $4.5 raspberry martini and $3.00 house margaritas. I don't really think about having a margarita with my Indian food, but I opted to try one anyway. We also ordered the miniature samosas, regular naan, lamb korma, chicken tikka masala, and chicken vindaloo. The samosas had a great crispy pastry, but were certainly not very filled. A couple of us preferred these to regular samosas, since they can be too-filled. The naan was fine- not the best flavor but had a good texture.
The lamb korma and masala had great flavor but without any heat. The masala did have less tomato flavor than what I'm used to. The chicken vindaloo was spicy, as it should be, and had nice pieces of white meat chicken and large pieces of potato. The flavor was very good, especially once you got over the heat in the first few bites. My margarita was well-mixed, having more alcohol than I thought at first, but was made from a mix and was pretty syrupy-sweet.
The waitress boxed up our food, and we really appreciated that our to-go boxes were pre-loaded with rice, since we had eaten all we'd be given with our meals. We'll definitely be back to try the buffet, I think, and to try some other specials or happy hour.
This was my second visit to LI in Belmar, but first non-event visit. Â About a month ago they had their Grand Opening/Anniversary party event, but it was atypical from regular business hours. Â Anyway, The Dude and I went on a proper date (romantical!)... he gave me flowers, took me to dinner, and we saw Toy Story 3! Â Dinner at Little India was quiet and cozy and lovely. Â Their patio on a warm summer evening is splendid. Â Their patio on a warm summer evening with a $15 bottle of white wine (we selected a Chardonnay) is even better.
We did not order an appetizer. Â Instead, munched on pompadoms (and my fave tamarind chutney) and sipped our wine while waiting for our dinner. Â I ordered Saag Ch-something... I've since forgotten the name of. Â The spinach and chickpeas dish. Â YUM. Â The Dude got Aloo Gobi (potatoes and cauliflower), and we also ordered some garlic naan. Â My expertise when it comes to Indian food is to know that I can never make it as good as most restaurants. Â So I don't even bother. Â I just go out for it. Â And Little India doesn't disappoint.
Our server seemed a bit timid, but overall was helpful and friendly and did a nice job. Â She was nice enough to have the bar put together an ice bucket of their wines on special (not sure if it's a Friday night special or what, but it's a heck of a deal) and bring it to the table so we could select one. Â She was consistent with checking back to make sure everything was alright, which it was and then some. Â After dinner she didn't seem to mind that we sat there and talked while waiting for our movie time.
Indian food is usually a treat for me because it's pretty rich and sticks to the ribs. Â However, next time I'm jonesin' for some saag and kheer (mmm... kheer), or next time Duder wants to take us some place more "exotic" than pizza (though there's nothing wrong with pizza!)--Little India in Belmar will be the spot for sure.
Two words: Butter chicken.
Yes, the tiny buffet smells heavenly; and yes, the buffet is cheaper; and yes, it offers limitless portions. But oh, the butter chicken. Mmmmmm.
I asked for some achar (here it's a mildly sour citrusy pickle, but it varies from place to place). The waitress brought me a little dish from the buffet at no extra charge. I would go five stars but that seems a bit much based on just one dish -- and frankly, I might never stray from that one dish. A bit expensive, but do try this tender, sumptuous chicken in creamy sauce reddish-orange with lovely mild spices.
We also liked the fact that the restaurant staff has adopted the duck who nested in a small planter right by one of the entrances. Nine eggs!
The restaurant is pretty inside and offers a nice outdoor dining area. They have a happy hour and daily drink specials. Great place for pre- or post-movie with the Belmar theater right across the street. (Free parking in the garage behind the theater on South Saulsbury, a short block east.)
This is the 3rd time I have had Indian food and it was delicious!! We had the All-You-Can Eat lunch and really enjoyed the bright orange chicken, bread, and the mango pudding being my favorites! So far this is the best place to get the bright orange chicken 'stuff' and their rice was cooked perfect too. (Sorry I don't know the lingo :)
Only issues was the drink. I got  a "Little India Blue"... and ugh! Was thick, medicine like and reminded me too much of a syrupy for my taste. Granted I was upset  because they served it to me at the end of my second plate I had two sips and left it. Maybe I'll try them again when they are 1/2 price because $9 for that was not worth it.
