The Little Wall is the best burger joint in town.  The wait staff is friendly, quick and very enthusiastic.  I love playing DJ Trivia on Mondays there - what a blast!  The food is awesome and so are the specials.  My kids especially like the happy hour deals ;)

    March 16, 2013 Saturday - drinks 2:00 PM
Many adult friends in the group

    Atmosphere - 4 stars
    Food - N/A stars
    Service - 4 stars

Background - Meeting up here before we go to St. Baldricks, several friends had their heads shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research.

Atmosphere - A collection of odd items, some sports some antiques which is fun looking around the place.  Love the feel of the place.  The high top tables had the metal chairs that looked like wood, and none of them sat evenly on the floor so they all rocked in some manner.

    Drinks
They have a great selection of tap beer on hand.  I went with my standard New Belgium's Fat Tire.

Service - Yeah it was a crazy afternoon and I asked for a to-go cup for my friend at least 10 minutes before she had to leave.  The to-go cup for her ginger ale never showed up.  Otherwise service was fast and friendly beers came out fast, event he pictures of Coors Light my friends were ordering.

    Future - Sure.

The best place to go after UNR sporting events for sure. I wouldn't advise going to this place when it's busy though. The service is mediocre and the bartenders only jump to serve hot 21 year old chicks, in which half the time I wonder if these girls are even 21. Fun place, but don't go if you're looking for a great dining experience.

Came here twice in a four day period with my gf , the food was damn good some of the best ribs ive had in  a long time with a  side of cold slaw  and some good sweet beans! Service was good the waitress was fast and very attentive to what we needed and always smiling. I also had some original chicken sandwich with some good fries. The place is very roomy and a nice place to hang out during those cold Nevada days with a full bar and happy hour from 4-7pm with half off on all alcohol! Can't beat that! If i come back to visit Reno i will definitely come back and eat here!

I have spent a ton of time here because it's the go-to UNR bar/restaurant. And the service is always terrible.

I don't think I've ever been there where they didn't mess up some aspect of our order. I once had to place my order three times because the waitress kept forgetting it, and then she still brought out the wrong item, but I just ate it because I didn't want to bother anymore. I once sat there for half an hour before anyone brought me a menu, then I got up and got one myself, but after a while longer of being ignored, we decided just to leave. They once told my friends and I we all had to order the same drink because it was "too difficult" for the bartender to make different ones. I could go on and on, but it's just a college place staffed with college kids, so, there you go.

The highlights of the Wal are the deals they offer. On Sundays, you get two burgers for the price of one. The Wal Burger is really, really good if you order it without barbeque sauce and they manage to remember that when they serve it to you. And their fries are some of my favorites in town. And every day, the burgers are all-you-can-eat. However, the most I've ever managed to eat at once is two, and it was a rough time.

Their happy hour is also great. Happy hour food includes inexpensive mini pizzas and, my favorite, fried zucchini. You can get large mugs of inexpensive beer as well as inexpensive well drinks.

During the week, they have goofy activity nights and food/drink specials, too. On Mondays, you can get half off pizzas. On Wednesdays, they host tricycle races and serve inexpensive mugs of beer.

During the school year, the place is packed and is always fun and full of professors/students you know. I've had a lot of good times drinking at the Wal with friends, but after a few years of going there regularly, I've gotten thoroughly fed up with the awful service and have no desire to deal with it anymore.

Went here for lunch with the fam.  my kids are big fans of the burgers, and my wife and I like the chicken sandwiches.  the server was prompt and courteous, just not overly friendly that day.  nevertheless, the food came out fast, hot and everything tasted great... afterall, isn't that what you're coming for?!  the server might have been having a bad day, but she took care of us. I've never had anything on the menu that wasn't good.  Still a fan!

I was going over my credit card statement the other night and I noticed that the Little Waldorf added a little extra to their tip.

I'll admit that I didn't give the greatest tip (a little over two dollars for a 20 dollar meal and terrible service). Regardless, it's extremely scary to have a place give themselves a larger tip without your knowledge. I will DEFINITELY never return here and from now on I'll encourage my friends and family to avoid this place as well.

My local friend took me to the Wal, claiming that I would have an amazing burger. Alright, I got excited.

I ordered the standard burger, which came super juicy, but drenched in barbeque sauce. That's totally fine if you like a lot of sauce, but I personally don't. My burgers was super delicious though, and I loved how simple the bun was. The fries weren't extraordinary, but still delicious all the same.

The best burger I've ever had? Probably not, but it was pretty damn delicious all the same.

I have been here a few times, each time it was pretty much exactly what i expected pub food in a loud college pub. There are lots of TVs set up all around this place that if you are a sports fan you could easily see your game from pretty much any where you sit. Previous visits I saw on their menu they have "The Wally's Famous French Dip." I always wanted to try it so i decided Sunday was the day. When I arrived there were not very many people in for lunch. I was greeted by a young girl asking me to sit where ever I'd like and saying my server would be with me shortly. I knew what I wanted already so I browsed the menu. They have some really good specials that might be worth checking out some time. Mondays they have 1/2 price pizza and Sundays they have buy one burger get another one for .01 cent. Also they have a daily happy hour with drinks and $1.99 appetizers. After about five minutes I still have not seen my server. The girl who greeted me noticed I have not been served and dashed to the back, I'm guessing to tell my server they had customers. Finally my young female server came out with a mouth full of food and asked for drinks and then realized our menus were closed and wanted to know if we were ready to order. Which we were, bring on the DIP!

The service was fast and prompt. The portion was perfect for lunch. The Bread on the sandwich was very nice, the beef tasted tender and was marinated, the fries were amazing, very crunchy and flavorful. One of the best in the area by far!! Now for the main part of a french dip. The Ajus. This Ajus was so blah it tasted like my sandwich was dipped in water. I was so disappointed. Luckily they had a bottle of BBQ sauce at the table. My "Wally's World Famous, French Dip" turned into a "Poor, Put It Together, BBQ Beef Sandwich." I would have informed my waitress but she never came back to check on our table at all until the meal was finished. The prices are slightly higher for pub food.

I may come back for one of their specials or happy hours but as far as a go to place for when ever I'm hungry for a sit down lunch I think I will pass.

It's been such a long time since I've been here, I was sorry that I had waited so long. The food was good and they have a nice beer selection.
I came on a Wednesday and got the open face ribeye sandwich. I also decided to get the smallest order of chicken wings, which were two pounds. I figured it would be too much food and I was right. I also got a big mug of wheat beer. Everything was good.
I actually had heard they had good happy hour specials, but I got there at 3:40 p.m., 20 minutes too early for happy hour.
The rib eye sandwich was good. I like that cut of meat and it tastes good even cooked medium. The fries were average.
The wings are huge. They have some zing to it, too, I liked them and they were an especially good match for the tasty wheat beer.
The only problem is that they got slammed for happy hour. I had to wait an extra 10 or 15 minutes to pay because the waitress was so busy. It wasn't like she was standing around doing nothing. That part was a little irritating.
One other complaint: They have lots of TVs around the place. And just about all of them were tuned to the same ESPN channel. It would be nice to mix in a couple of other channels.
This location is considerably bigger than the prior location where JJ's Pie Company is now. I suspect this place is a zoo on game day.

Haven't been here in years but this is just what we needed after the scariest landing into Reno Airport.  Cheap drinks, good junk food and good company.  I love the old school TV's surrounding the dining area.

It is your average bar and grill with awesome decorations of half naked women and other stuff. (For some reason I only remember the pictures of boobs almost popping out) oh, and then of course I remember all the Wolf Pack stuff and the hating of UNLV plastered on an atomic bomb. But hey, the night I went UNLV beat the #1 ranked team UNC. So there.

The bartender named Brooks was awesome. He pointed out that if I were to get a redbull by itself it was so expensive I should just go next door to 7-11 and get one. However, I didnt so I just ordered a redbull vodka and paid the $7 bucks for it, oh wait $8 because I got a double shot.

However, the best time to go is between 10-11pm because that is power hour. Meaning everything is discounted. $2 shots is all I remember because that is what I got. I am sure the beer and stuff was discounted too. But it is only an hour, so drink up! After that hour it seemed like everyone started leaving.

Overall it was an interesting experience. I have heard the food is good, but did not have any this round.

Check it out if your in town. Show off your UNLV spirit! hehe

My Star Trek, Law, & Ethics class is three hours long. By the end, I'm STARVING, because I apparently don't know how to eat properly. Plus, the last couple days I've been so stressed I haven't even wanted to eat.

Last week a friend and I were having the required conversation of Peanut Butter: How Awesome Is It? Part of it includes a competition of what the craziest thing you've put PB on - mine, of course, was not really crazy since it's normal in my family but waffles, pancakes, ice cream, french toast, and a host of other different foods. Impressed at my dedication to the condiment, he asked if I'd ever had it on a burger.

    WHAT.

"Yeah, The Wal has a Jiffy Burger...with peanut butter."
"I must try this! ::dials number, orders to-go::"

Well, it was amazing. I went back with said friend last night after class and had another. To be honest, the rest of their menu looks meh. I ordered a PBR (because I'm a) cheap and b) get over it) and ate. Then I realized there was BACON on it. BACON. AND PEANUT BUTTER. ON A BURGER.

I'll be back. Maybe this time I could stop myself before mistaking a customer as a manager. I mean, if you dress like that and you make eye contact with me while you're smiling the moment I walk in (just like you're supposed to do in restaurant service)....then maybe you should expect it. God, I am a socially awkward penguin.

I came here with some friends a few week ago and let's just say, I won't be going back there.

Our waitress was nice but our bartender was a complete jerk. We got a table and decided to order drinks instead of food. So the waitress recommended we just sit at the bar. One of my friends was under 21 but she said it was okay anyways. Once we got to the bar, our bartender asked to check our IDs. We told him our friend was under 21 and he just kept insisting that we leave the bar and sit at a table. He then asked another waiter if it was fine for my friend to stay with us even though she's not drinking and they okay-ed it. After a lack of service at the bar, we decided to move to a table nearby. He came over and starts throwing a fit about how we were supposed to pay off the tab before we left the bar. I told him that we are staying right where we are and we're not going anywhere and my friend just left to go move his car and he'll take care of the tab. He just kept insisting that we pay the tab and I kept explaining him the same thing repeatedly. He finally just said "Just stay right where you are and don't go anywhere and be sure you pay off this tab!" No please or thank you. Attitude was off the wall. Service was limited even though it wasn't that busy.

When my 21 year old friend went up to ask for a drink that he wasn't sure what the name was, the bartender just brushed him off and said he doesn't know what he's talking about. Doesn't give us any suggestions or anything.

    Such a disappointing experience.

This was our second out of four stops on our tour of all of the establishments owned by this franchise. It's decorated fairly similar as the others, with a lot of random trinkets on the wall. They have around 50 beers on tap and their menu is almost identical to the place in my hometown of Chico, so I felt right at home. I recommend everyone try the jiffy burger!

Best place for a college student on a Wednesday or Thursday night!  I love the $1 shots and Wednesday Tricycle races!  They also have karaoke night on Tuesdays but I suck at singing haha

Best and most fun place to go and drink and maybe even eat after a UNR football or basketball game being right across the street!  The place gets packed!  After the UNR vs Boise game you could not even walk onto the gated property because it was so packed.

Love the bartenders and the staff!

Buy one huge burger, get another huge burger free! Ton's of different beer's great service, right next to Mackay Stadium, everything is all good here!

I've been to "The Wal" several times in the past 2 months.  When people come to visit us in Reno, we usually take them here!  This place is the epitome of UNR spirit where everyone goes on game night to hang out and watch the Wolf Pack play.  The thing that really made this one of my favorites places is the "Jiffy Burger".  I've been putting peanut butter on my cheesebugers for years and finding a place with it on the menu isn't that easy!

Every time my husband and I go here, we enjoy great service and excellent burgers, sandwiches, and salads.  Oh man, and the french fries are battered before they're cooked.  AMAZING.  The pizzas aren't anything fantastic so we don't bother with those.  Everyday of the week there's a different daily special and happy hour lasts seemingly forever.

One piece of advice: If you come on a game night, don't sit outside.  You will be ignored if no one else is out there.  And usually no one is because the TVs are inside.

Edited 3/13/11 to add:  We had two friends visit us a month ago and took them here.  We came during karaoke hour (pleasantly surprised as that's what we were thinking about doing) and as we walked in, the emcee/manager ordered a shot for all of us on the house.  We don't drink, so we gave our shots to our friends.  Then we answered a trivia question right and won another free shot.  Five free shots within 15 minutes.  I don't drink, but I know that that is completely awesome!

Gotta love this place. Good food, good beers, great atmosphere. Awesome burgers and salads. A best burger contender for sure. Both the avocado burger and normal cheeseburger are awesome. Crispy lettuce and tomatoes, fresh off the grill taste, nice bun. Just perfect. Just the right size too. On this trip the steak salad was also ordered along with a pizza (can't remember which one) all of which were good. I'm also a fan of the fiesta taco salad and pulled pork, which are both great.

Service is so so, which is not untypical of college type bars, but its still mildly irksome. The waitress looked right at us after we were seated and went  to take drink orders from someone just sitting down before wandering over to us a few minutes later. Annoying. But the rest of the service was decent and food and drinks came out right away, so its not that big of a deal. The other thing to know about this place is that there is always something weird with their fountain drinks, but who goes here for that? Have a beer or cocktail.

Normally I'd probably give this place 4 stars, knocking down 1 star for the combo of the service and weird tasting soda's some in my party got, even though the food is 5 star pub grub. But they earn the extra star back for their amazing specials. Sundays you buy one burger and get one for 1 cent. Since two of us got burgers, one of our meals was basically free. Awesome, since I felt the burgers were already a good value at their regular price. Also from 4-7 you have happy hour, which has $1.99 apps, $1.99 beers and spirits (and some decent spirits are on the list too). And, if you are truly a glutton, they also offer all you can eat on any of their burgers from 4-7. Every day. Wow. They also have 99 cent drinks (beers and spirits) after 10 on Fridays. For these prices, the place can't be beat.

I just can't think of all the good things to say about this house of spirits. The prices are so cheap during the various happy hours they have for drinks. I think it is sometimes cheaper to come buy alcohol here than to go buy it at a store, which doesn't make any sense, and may be the type of fuzzy math that I've come up with after being presented with my final tab here. Video games, pool, an all around fun place. Nice outside patio that is heated during the winter, for smokers.

Sometimes the best entertainment here is the customers. Although this is mainly a college bar, since it is near downtown, some transient types seem to roll in and they tend to be quite colorful. I distinctly remember one evening with a group of classmates being seated outside and having one of these patrons show up and entertain us with a cell phone conversation (we think) that may have been about the most hilarious thing I've ever heard in my life.

I've never had the coffee here, but I know they do sell coffee.

Also, they sell food. They have a pretty good mix of food and snack type items usually around $2  during happy hours such as mini tacos, mini pizza, zucchini, and other things, though portions are on the small side. Great to order a few and share around with a group. The quality will impress you considering this is, for all intents and purposes, a bar. It isn't gourmet, but, it is pretty good. Especially washed down with a nice 32.

Also, the parking lot, is not my friend. Parking across the street or even along the street would be a better option.

Prices are a little high if it isn't happy hour. Watch the time as you continue to place orders to prevent any surprises upon billing.

The back room is frequently donated to groups both student groups and non student groups, upon reservation. They are very good with that. They will also reserve the outdoor patio as a back up if another group has already claimed the back room during your desired time period.

This is a great place to meet up with friends for cheap drinks, and to be distracted from conversation by the game. We got here at 9, which meant we just missed happy hour, but were able to get beer and shots for 2 bucks a pop. Sweet! At 10, the happy hour bell rang again, so the better beers and mixed drink prices dropped to 2 bucks also.

The decor is entertaining...old trombones and such adorn the eves, flanked by the obscene amount of tvs that is to be expected in good sports bars.

Go before the frat boys and the sisters get there. It can be very packed on a thursday night but the other nights are great. The drinks are cheap and usually very good. The food is amazing and most of the bartenders are very nice and know what they are doing.

This is what college bars are all about but I also see so many different set of people and age groups there.

ONLY worth going to on a Sunday or Monday when on Sundays you can get a hamburger for a penny if you order one at regular price and the pizzas are half off on Monday.

Otherwise, I wasn't too impressed. A college place that sells burgers and sandwhiches, nothing special or unique on the menu woth paying full price for ($10 / person).

Good for young college kids with fake ID's.  I'm in my younger 20's and feel like I should be baby sitting rather then enjoying a beer.  Usually crowded with chicks falling all over themselves and "Bro's" with too much testosterone.  This place is only good if I only have to stay for a short time, or unless I'm dragged there.  This is the night life view, I haven't ever given the place a chance to eat there so I gave the review an extra star, or two.

I've been here a few times.  It's very cozy.  A lot of the locals come here and that's how I was introduced to it.  Happy hour is great with 1.99 for draft beer and wine.  The best things about this place is the chicken wings and burgers.  Good size portions and wonderful service.

Everytime I have the chance I come for a good meal with all the fixings.

I recently tried the deep fried banana split which is "AWESOME"!

The Little Wal serves more than your typical bar food.  They have a large variety of pizza's, burgers, sandwiches, and then some other "random" food.  I LOVED the turkey wrapped asparagus sandwich.  I know it sounds kind of weird, and it's definitely unique (and messy!) but it was delicious.
Monday nights they have super cheap personal pizzas and tacos.  After 10 pm, drinks are only $1 (how can you beat that?)
Sometimes service is slow when they are transitioning into the night crowd.  They close off a lot of the tables for table games (this may be Monday nights, because that's typically when I went.)  And some of the beers that they have on the menu aren't there all the time, or the next time, or the time after that... (I tried to order Pete's Wicked Ale three separate times, and each time they were out of it.)
Also, parking can suck sometimes, especially it is busy.  One section of their parking lot is an absolute nightmare to get in and out of.
I know it seems like a lot of negatives, but the food and the atmosphere make up for it.

A friend and I used to go here all the time when we were on campus.  The food is pretty good.  I always get the BBQ Burger which is great, but their fries are not too good.  Their happy hour is great ($2 drafts, wine or mixed drinks).  Also, for a $1 more, you can make the mixed drink a double.  There are about 30 different beers on tap (most I've seen at a bar).  For the most part, the service is very good.

I lived a block away from the Little Wal for four years, so I have eaten there many, many times.  However, a change in ownership and massive remodel a couple of years ago means that this is not the same place I used to know and love.  What was once a huge university dive bar with plenty of pub grub is now a richly decorated bar and grill with a university theme.  It's not BAD, but when you are a regular at a place, change tends to be unwelcome.

Yesterday Husband, Friend, and I had lunch there, and despite the fact that I was sad at how it was so different, it really is a cool place with really good food and service.  I would highly recommend the "Pig Tails"--garlic curly fires smothered in pulled pork and bbq sauce.  YUM.  I had a chicken caesar salad, and half the lettuce was really limp, but apart from that, the meal was very satisfying.  This is a great place to hang out, but if, like me, you were a fan of the old Little Wal, be prepared for a totally new bar.

Went there last night for some post-skeet-shootin' pre-poker drinks and appetizers. Its a cool place with decent ambiance and good service. They have a whole lot of different beers on tap which is always a plus! We ordered the nachos and the small burger things, and the nachos were great but the burger things were nothing special. Prices seemed pretty reasonable. Worth checking out.

This place is the spot after big Nevada football or basketball games, especially Homecoming weekend and the UNLV rivalry game. I like coming here for Blue Moon on tap and to have some good bar food. They used to be open 24 hours, but they've cut back on hours. There are a couple pool tables and tons of seats for those non-busy nights. Occasionally, bands will stop on through. I've heard they also have also have really cheap breakfasts.
