Your typical bar and grill/hot spot for cougar sightings. I like the food, but then again I tend to like anything in buffalo sauce. The fish tacos are also pretty good. Â Trivia is on Tuesday nights and an fun time. I prefer it on week nights when it's not so busy you can't find a seat or move. The new patio upstairs has an awesome view of the tech center.
Review Source:I've always been a fan of Lodo's downtown, but the staff here tells me they have different menus. I'll give it that the rooftop area provides a great vista, although not sure why, in the remodel, that much of the bar seats face away from that view. I'll also give credit for decent happy hour times, prices and selection. But the angus sliders I ordered were akin to shoe leather, and the bartender forgot to give me a setup (a common theme in Denver restaurants). When the wind kicked up on the roof, they closed several of the "garage" doors, but it did not appear there is any a/c n the bar/dining area, so it immediately got uncomfortable.
As is fairly typical of places that have a strong feature (view, location, theme), the service and/or food usually takes a back seat. If Lodos kicked the service and food experience into high gear, I'd go back more often. As it is, nothing remarkable here.
I've been coming to this place off and on for some time. But the last time I was there the upstairs blew my mind. I love the new look. The new look makes me want to come back in the summer! Â I also had really good food while I was there. Â The server we had was great but had to transfer us to the next server who was just as good. Â I'll be back. This place might be five stars so I'm going back when the upstairs is open and see if I can make this a five.
Review Source:So glad my friends invited me out to LoDo's last night for dinner and drinks. Â What a great venue. Â We arrived just in time to watch the sunset which was amazing from that huge balcony. Â Of course I took pictures...I mean come on.
The place was packed which I definitely expected for a Friday night. Â This place is huge between upstairs and downstairs. Â Both bars are also massive. Â We were able to snag a table in the downstairs bar and were served by Jade (great server! Â Super personable and she was on it with our food, drinks, boxes, and then check.)
I had a Left Hand Milk Stout that was great. Â Will definitely be drinking this again. Â Friends each had a marg: The Perfect Marg & The Heavenly Marg. Â They loved 'em! Â Settled on some eats: Pulled BBQ Pork Sliders...oh my God! Â I couldn't stop eating them. Â They were so good. Â Perfect BBQ sauce and the meat was very tender. Â I'm a total french fry snob and theirs were perfect amount of crunch and nice and salty. Â Haven't had fries that good in forever. Â B had the all you can eat fish and chips which were huge! Â The each plate he consumed came with two large pieces of fish. Â They covered more than half of the large square plate they were served on. Â M had nachos which were paired with paired with this green chile cheese sauce. Â I'm not even a fan of green chile but it was super tasty. Â She also had the sliders from the happy hour/bar menu which she raved about.
We were there pretty early so we didn't stick around for the DJ but will have to come back and check it out and do a lil dancin'. Â
This place is not your neighbourhood bar feel if that's what you're looking for but the service and food and drink selection were great.
Will definitely be adding LoDo's to my regular hang out list.
The only reason they are getting 2 stars is for the layout. Cool bar upstairs but there is a weird thing happens around midnight on fridays and saturdays. They will randomly select people who have spent their money at their bar to be thrown out for absolutely no reason and NO explanation.
I literally was sitting at a table, grabbed on the shoulder and told I had to leave. My friend who was leaving the bathroom was also told to leave with no explanation. We had been minding our own business, not spoke to anyone, had only 2-3 beers each and were told "don't worry about don't make this hard on yourself."
They also over serve everyone while they have 3-4 police cars waiting for drunk people to leave therefore causing their customers possible DUI's. This bars attendance has dropped dramatically within the last year and a half due to horrible management and unprofessional/drunk staff.
If you want to possibly get kicked out for no reason go here, especially after you have spent your money on them that they feel acceptable. If you want to go to a better ran bar go to any other bar in the area. Don't wast your time on this dump, its only a matter of time before they tear this place down
I wish I could say something better about this place but after being tossed out for NO REASON multiple times, I feel like discrimination is a part of how this joke of an establishment is ran.
Had a blast here on New Years Eve. After viewing the website, I imagined the place to be an older, much slower crowd. I was pleasantly surprised when I walked in to find it was the opposite. After a few drinks and a quick dance on the first floor I ventured upstairs where the real party was! Loved the live band, dance floor and the outdoor patio. Would definitely visit again when in the area.
Review Source:This was our first visit to this location for lunch using a $30 Google Offers deal. Â We went upstairs. Â There was a huge bar with multiple flat screen tvs and high and low tables. Â We sat near a fireplace, but the server was not able to figure out how to turn it on. Â We were the first ones to dine upstairs for lunch.
We ordered 3 items that took 25 minutes to come out.
Rocky Mountain Turkey Sandwich (turkey topped with avocado, bacon, and Monterey Jack cheese then grilled on sourdough bread)- my step-daughter would order this again. Â The fries were not freshly fried, but they were crisp and seasoned perfectly. Â I would go back for the fries. Â These were some of the best fries I've had in a long time.
The Colorado Zaaa Pizza (roasted red pepper, roasted garlic spread, artichoke hearts, black olives, and Palidori Italian sausage)- A 9-10" pizza cut into 8 slices enough for 2 people. Â The crust was thick and the bones were crunchy, but soft on the inside. Â I didn't see any black olives.
I-25 Pizza (pepperoni, Poladori Italian sausage, artichoke hearts, mushrooms, pepperoncinis and Italian four cheese house blend)- My husband liked this pizza with the red sauce better than the other pizza we ordered.
The server was friendly and brought out another Pepsi without even asking if my husband wanted a refill.
I would rather pay a little more and drive 3.6 miles to Lone Tree to E Lincoln Ave/Quebec Ave area near the Super Target and have Wood-Fired Pizza.
Outdoor patio: 5 (hell, 55,555!)
Food/drink: 2
Service: -10
To emphasize, that is a negative 10. We had at least 5-6 servers swap out during our lunch. They were all equally disorganized and incompetent (hate to say that about anyone, but it's the truth), and everything took much longer than it should have.
I opted for the build-your-own-bloody-mary experience (aka my dreamboat), and I got a glass of the most watered down vodka - if there was any at all. I essentially paid for tomato juice, olives, and a stick of celery. Two friends did the Bloody thing as well and had the same experience - minimal/no vodka. Oh, well.
I'd come back just for the rooftop deck. That was amazing!
Each time I have been it has sucked and to my surprise continues to go down hill. Â This is a shame because its in a great location and the roof top area is really nice. Â I really want to like this place for the views and location but can not get beyond the service and treatment. Â FYI - one thing learned is that if you tip the Hosts you will get sat MUCH sooner. The servers are doing you a favor to bring you an drink or menu so get used to it. Â
Prior to leaving this review I did ask to talk to the manager who apparently has no customer service skills and instead of listening tells you if you don't like the lack of service you are free to leave. Â She believes because the place is full / busy on a Friday they must be fabulous. - I can give you a long list of businesses that were busy right up until they weren't then they couldn't get customers.
Truly sad because somewhere there are investors allowing this service to put their future at risk.
Lodo's, I love the new patio! Â A major improvement from being scrunched in a corner area. Â I love your Happy Hour deals too, $3 Smirnoff is nothing to laugh at. Â Unless one has had 4 of them, such as I did last night. Â (Then one is likely to be laughing alot.)
Your bartenders are friendly, you beer list is extensive, and there's lots of space with a heckuva view to enjoy after the day is done. Â Mighty fine job. Â May hap one day I'll sample your fare. Â It's odd that I've never noshed here.
Cheers!
How have I NOT written a review for this place yet?! Â
This has to be my favorite place to hang out in this part of town. Â You really can't beat the Rooftop Bar, especially during Happy Hour or on the weekends. Â Sitting up there watching the sun set is just magical. Â There are TVs everywhere too!!!
The Ahi Tuna appetizer is a MUST try! Â Generally the food is good here, haven't really had any complaints about anything.
Service can be hit or miss depending on how crowded it gets or who you get (it's not consistent across the entire staff).
I also came on a Saturday night to check out the dance/music scene and had to pay $5 to get in. Â That seems a bit ridiculous to me (charging cover in Highlands Ranch? Â Really?) but the music was good and we had a good time.
I'll definitely keep coming back!!
GREAT roof top bar (3rd story floor to be exact) and great for happy hour, pass on the food.
A good selection of beer (needs more IMO) and great prices during happy hour.
Food - decent, nothing to rave about. Â Stick to burgers I guess?
TV's- a okay amount of flat screens
patio/roof top bar - the ONLY reason to come here. Â Sun beaming into the entire place and enjoy the eye candy. Â A great place to also see the CO mountains.
Summary: Come for the rooftop bar and happy hour specials.
I went out with friends to Lodo's on an early Saturday evening for a few drinks and a little dinner. Â We sat upstairs, and I have to admit Lodo's has done a really great job with the expanded area. Â The entire second floor is much larger than it used to be, and is a really nice, well designed, comfortable space. Â Everything was going great; drinks were flowing, the sun was setting, and everyone was having a good time. Â Â
Unfortunately, as much as they've improved the patio, I feel like the food was hit or miss. Our appetizer and a few of the dinners arrived cold. Â I ordered a burger because usually they are delicious, but the one I got was dry, cold and it looked like a run of the mill frozen patty. Â There were a few good meals: Â the veggie burger and macaroni and cheese that others had ordered were very good. Â The rest was just sort of meh. Â Â
I agree with others that this place has an identity crisis. Â Case in point: When we arrived the patio was perfect for chilling out, watching the sun set, and enjoying some conversation with friends over drinks and mellow music. Â However at 9pm everything changed. Â The music started thumping, the volume was cranked way up, and all of a sudden Lodo's transformed into a nightclub. Â Before we knew what was happening we were surrounded by what appeared to be Jersey Shore cast wannabes. Â Weird. Â
Overall, I love that upstairs deck so I'll be back for drinks. Â I'll just skip the burger next time, and make my exit when the sun goes down and the music goes up.
The expansion & remodel is almost completed and Lodo's did an amazing job. Â The new upstairs covered patio and deck is IMO now one of the finest in Denver. Â The outstanding vantage point gives you fantastic unobstructed views of the entire Front Range. Â On a clear sunny day it is spectacular! Â The new space includes fireplaces and tons of HDTV for viewing sporting events. Â Kudos to Lodo's management for making the new patio all NON-Smoking!!!
Most of the old staff is gone and there are many new faces that are getting the hang of the recently reopened restaurant. Â The patio gets really busy and service is relaxed and can drag at times. Â Runners bring food upstairs from the lower level kitchen and if mistakes are made it can take a while to get them resolved. Â This is the reason for 4 stars instead of 5.
IMO the food is great. Â Don't go expecting a gourmet meal because after all it is really just upscale bar fare. Â The Mahi Mahi Fish Tacos, Shrimp & Avocado Salad, Mushroom & Swiss Burger, & Shrimp Bucket are all great choices. Â The Ahi Tuna Wonton Crisp appetizer is over the top delicious!
Lodo's is busy and is a popular meeting place for South Metro singles so they will be busy during peak hours. Â Cougar Nation is healthy & well in Highlands Ranch. Â You can also make reservations on http://www.OpenTable.com. Â Parking is best on the South side in front of the vacant Circuit City store.
I sometimes feel like a broken record when I write some reviews after reading other people's reviews of places. Â But! Â When I stop by a sports bar, I want a simple meal (like a burger), I cold beer and a bunch of big TV's. Â Fast service and reasonable prices make me smile. Â Lodo's did everything I expected and I could watch the game. Â I didn't wander up to the new patio since it was packed, but the lower bar area was what I wanted Friday evening.
Review Source:First things first. Â They've updated their upstairs patio, and it's really nice now. Â Second things second...I've been hit on by far too many cougars here. Â Third things third...it's a fine drinking establishment with mediocre food. Â Fourth things fourth...it's a sports bar as well. Â Will I return? Â Probably, but only because there aren't many better options in the area and the patio rocks.
Review Source:We went here for the first time last week, and while we were definitely underwhelmed with the food the service was very good.
When we got there, it was a bit late, but there was still a decent crowd and they were still serving food, so it is a decent place for late night food, which drew us to it first off. Â We sat at the bar and the noticed they had a fairly substantial beer selection on draft and decided to go that route. Â After tasting a few options, we settled on a seasonal rarity that they had access to, that was apparently a mistake by a local brewery, but was delicious.
We got a few different options off the menu for food, which were ok, but as I said above, were underwhelming. Â The green chili was very boring and bland and very tomatoey. Â It tasted like a spicy tomato soup. Â The salad and sandwich we also got were better, but still fairly boring.
On a whole I am giving it the A-Ok rating, and feel that it is just that, A-ok. Â We aren't in the area a ton, but we would go back if we were. Â The service we had was good, it was prompt and very friendly. Â It is definitely a place, that would be good to go watch a game. Â Lots of TVs. Â We would go back, but we will be trying different foods. :)
This is probably my third time going here more recently, and overall maybe fifth time (prior times were as a family with our kids and other families...like after the kids' soccer or football game). This review will be based on my more recent visits.
I just went last night to celebrate with my neighbors...it was one of their birthdays and I was the DD (and that doesn't mean designated drunk). Depite not having anything but water and "cherry" Pepsi, I had a really great time. We went there primarily to dance, which starts ~10...it is one of the few places near us where you can dance and not have to go downtown. Note: they are still renovating, so the upstairs was not open. As far as the changes that they did downstairs: apparently they enclosed the kitchen area so customers can't see them working, moved the bathroom to the other side by where they set up the dance floor, and put in new flooring. Since I have not been a regular there, all those noted changes were based on someone else sharing them with me.
I met a mortgage guy, who was convincing me I needed to refinance and also sharing with me his music interests. As it turns out, he was there with his buddies where one of them (the owner of the mortgage company) already knew one of my neighbors. I always have fun talking to and learning new things from people. The customers there were very friendly, bartenders really on top of things, and tons of staff everywhere.
Birthday girl wanted to dance, so the right before the DJ started to play music we rounded folks up and got them excited to dance (or so we thought). Actually quite a few did dance right away and we all had a blast! I would definitely go back and look forward to when they open the upstairs (I was there another time before they began their rennovations when a different friend rented the upstairs and had a private birthday party for her husband...that was very fun too). Hope to see you there...and yes, I would love to dance with you!
I just have one question, when you walk in and the place only has a few tables seated why do they sit you next to the kitchen? We went for lunch today and that is where we ended up, can't the waitress walk a little farther so we don't have to listen to all the noise.
Just thinking out loud here, food was alright and the wait staff was friendly.
Just wanted to say how cool Brian K. the bar tender at Lodo's is...
It had been about 4 months from the last time I stopped in to have a drink with the wife, I went to the bar and recognized Brian K. behind the bar. He came over and said hi and even remembered my name. I don't want people to think I have a "man cursh" or "bro-mance" but it does make you fell welcome when the bar tender knows your name! Â He made the drinks fast and they were great! Keep up the good work and well will be sure to stop in again!
I have been here twice for 2 different peoples birthday parties. When writing this review I am talking about Saturday nights (party zone). Well the place gets busy with all sorts of types. On the dance floor there were drunk cougars, jersey wannabes, your average bar wierdo's and some older gentelman. So there is a wider variety of people than Denver downtown main spots. The drinks are cheaper than downtown and even though its busy you can usually find a chair. They play the top 40 hip hop music.
*The bar guys/ LODO's are pretty cool if you are a DD they will not charge for soda while all your friends get trashed.
10 pm on Saturday night.. I have never seen so many meat heads in my life.. 90% DUDES. What is this Venice Beach? Hey lets all go take some steroids and go hang out at Lodo's... lol
I did see some hot ladies but they each had about 7 guys around them trying to get a word in.
2 stars because the appetizer was good. Had the chips, salsa, artichoke dip, cheese dip, and guac. Called the appetizer Trio.. or something like that.. All for 8 bucks. Deal! Really good.
I can honestly say that I frequented this place too often since it was right next door to my work. Â The patio in the summer time is the absolute best...who wouldn't want to have a beer and grab a tan during lunch. Â The staff is always very and the food is pretty decent. Â The only reason for the four star rating is because of the prices...they tend to be a bit out of control for what you get.
Try there veggie burger, it's wonderful, one of the best I've ever had. Â Their southwest chicken salad (minus the chicken) is pretty darn good too, just ask for a side of bbq sauce to drizzle over the top and you won't be dissapointed.
$2 pints during lunch too on most drafts...I'm sure they have a good happy hour, but I was typically there in between work.
Beware of the older males...they like to linger and creep on the young ladies. Â And if you're lucky you just might get to see a lap dance like me!!
Came here once for a happy hour. It was jam-packed to the gills and the drinks were watered down.
Came here again with the fam for brunch and the service was just okay and the food was just so-so. Probably didn't help that the place was a ghost town on a Sunday morning.
They get an extra star for the cool patio, but that's about it.
********Request to sit in the Balcony*********
Was here for a quick biz trip.
Visited Lodo's as a quick reprieve to what is going to be a long day. We walked in around 2pm on a Monday. There were three other customers aside from us.
Not just that but there were limited personnel as well. That made the service a little slow.
The place is clean with an indoor and outdoor sitting areas. Nice view of the Rockies from the balcony. Lots of TV for the sports enthusiasts at the bar.
I tried the best ever Turkey Pretzel Roll Sandwich with Sweet Potato Fries. So yummy! $7.99. Plenty of beer on tap. But I didn't get any. I was like I said on a biz trip :(
So last stop on the girls night out was Lo Do's. After quickly running through our other options we ended up here about 10:30p on a Saturday. The parking lot was packed and filled with sheriff's cars (?). We went in anyways and actually found a table on the side of the dance floor (that was empty).
The table was nice since we had done our fair share of standing for the night, however no drink service at the tables. Every time we wanted a new round a couple of us had to go to the bar and drag all those drinks back to our table. Um, ick? Heels and booze are not a good combo! Still as the night picked up we danced a bit and drank a bit and had a generally good time.
By midnight the tiny dance floor was elbow to elbow and music ear piercingly loud. So we finally found our spot to stick for awhile. Can't say it was the best, but it did the job.
Note: Try the gummi bear shot. It was liquid candy!
Cougarville does exist, and its pseudo name is Highlands Ranch. Â The watering hole for this town exists in Lodo's Bar and Grill Highlands Ranch. Â The place isn't terrible, but the demographic is far different than that found in the real Lodo's. Â What do you expect when you are located smack dab in suburbia? Â
Despite the clientele, the place is okay. Â My aversion rests in the fact that the DJ only would play techno and hip hop which did little in the efforts of getting the older crowd on the dance floor. Â Additionally, following the last NCAA tournament basketball game of the night that was on the big screen and half the other screens, CBS aired 60 Minutes which no one bothered to change. Â Just observing half the bar reading the 60 Minutes subtitles with hip hop in the background and an empty dance floor made this Saturday night not quite as crazy as one would hope.
Don't come to this establishment looking for the finest meal of your lifetime, and you'll be just fine. Its a sports bar, with above average tavern fare.
Phenomenal bar service, friendly bartenders and friendly patrons. These folks know how to make a cocktail, and the beer is always nice and cold.
If you're looking for a quiet place to have an intimate conversation, look elsewhere...this is a sports bar, and it tends to be loud...deal with it, or not...
The upstairs deck has a great view, and somewhat quieter, again with great service at the bar. Table service is also quite attentive, and a great place to enjoy a sunny afternoon.
I know it was game day, but Lodo's was easily the loudest sports bar I've ever been to. Absolutely deafening. The menu was as boring and predictable as the decor and ambiance. If we didn't have a Get One Free coupon (and if I wasn't super hungry), I would have gone somewhere else.
My omelette ($7) was mediocre - I asked for onion, bacon and green chili (made the mistake of assuming the chili would be of the pork variety) but I ended up with green onion, bacon, and mild green chili peppers (yes, "Beth S," they were most definitely chili peppers. Have a look at the PHOTO I took of it). Disappointing. Couldn't taste any cheese at all. The hash browns were tepid, barely cooked and bland. His breakfast burrito was also average - the coldcut-type ham in it was kinda weird. The only real flavor came from the accompanying little pot of salsa.
Service pretty much sucked ass. Drinks weren't refilled unless we flagged down the server, and we waited forever to place our orders and to get the food. The server was aloof, unfriendly, and obviously didn't really give a crap.
There is absolutely nothing about Lodo's that makes me want to return.
I live really close to LoDo's. Â I want to like and it and have it be my go-to bar in the area, but it's not. Â I've been here on many occasions and I always leave with the same thoughts. Â What are you trying to be LoDo's? Â Are you a sports bar? Â Are you a trendy suburbanite hang out? Â Are you a great spot to get a date? Â Are you a pre-dinner drinking place or a late night place? Â I don't think they know either.
I've had some of the food and it's never been bad, but it's nothing to write home about either. Â Again, confused...are you a Mexican place or an American bar food place? Â
Last night I met a friend here before she left on her vacation. Â We love to share some chips and guac and gossip over girly drinks. Â Last night, the chips were on point. Â They were warm and just the right thickness with the perfect amount of salt. Â The guac was mediocre, the salsa seemed jarred. Â
I had a watermelon martini that arrived as a clear liquid. Â I was confused again. Â It was supposed to have cranberry juice in it. Â I took one drink to discover the cranberry was missing. Â The waiter must have seen my "bitter drink face" and he swooped in to say he realized something was wrong. Â They corrected the drink, but it still wasn't what I imagined. Â My friend had something called an MG (mango vodka, grape vodka, and red bull). Â I thought it was pretty good, but I like the flavor of red bull. Â Oh and the only thing available as a happy hour special was beers on tap. Â No well specials or food specials. Â Pity.
I'm sure I'll be back here as it's a good location for me, but I wish there were other places to go down in HR.
