You get what you pay for.  I knew I should never trust a  filet under 30 dollars. My steak was not cooked correctly I ordered it medium raw and it was well over cooked.  Not to mention that it was so over seasoned I took one bite and sent it back.  The second steak was okay but you don't get a second chance to impress me at a restaurant.  You either have what it takes to make it in the service industry or you don't, and they don't.
Review Source:Don't get me wrong..The food is good but I am picky & in my opinion there's not much I like on the menu..If you like steak and ribs then it's the place for you..I am more into chicken and salad which there is not a big selection of.A little on the pricey side..And if you bring children?..Your looking at, at least an $80 meal (before tip).I don't see paying $27 for a steak.
Review Source:What a nice surprise!
for a moderately priced chain style steakhouse, LongHorn is pretty darn good! Â the menu is similar to Outback, but with a much wider selection of steaks and other dinner options. Â Most of these chain style steakhouses put so much salt on the food that all I taste is salt, I guess they are trying to sell more beer? the salt and herbs/spices level here was absolutely perfect. steak tastes like steak, salmon tasted like salmon.
The service is just average, but I will definitely go back  and recommend this restaurant to others because the menu is great, and everything tastes wonderful.
It's a family friendly atmosphere, and I saw plenty of families. they have large tables and small tables, so if you come with a few children you most likely won't be crammed into a tiny booth, which is nice.
Funny story about the service - one time when I was there I happened to be by myself and was reading an old paperback while waiting for my meal. the waitress asked what i was reading, and then she launched into that she'd recently started reading 50 shades of grey and how much she loved it. Woman at the next table turns around and tells the waitress how much she loves those books. Â So, if your book club is reading 50 Shades, Longhorn would be a great place for your bookclub to meet. Â But maybe the bookgroup should sit in the bar and away from all the kids.
This was my first time at this location, but I have eaten at the chain several times while in AL.
Longhorn is a clone of Outback steakhouse, with similar menus and similar quality of food. Personally, I think the fillet is better here, but keep in mind that its relative to Outback, not to a true steakhouse.
Keeping in mind the food/price ration, this place is a solid 4 start, but service is downright awful. Â Our server was seldom available for refills or to check on us. Â She forgot my son's soda refill and when reminded, another server ended up bringing it to our table. Â I guess ours was too tied up in the back to do it herself. Â The same actually happened with our entries, as another server dropped them off.
The adult meals were relatively good, but the lobster stuffed fillet; had almost no lobster stuffing inside (unlike the nice photo in the menu), just a tiny lobster tail on top. Â Skip this entree and just get a plain fillet.
Kids burger was overcooked.
So 4 stars for food and 2 stars for service=3 stars overall
I really wanted to give LongHorn Steakhouse 4-stars, but I just couldn't for the following reasons:
1. They don't keep it clean enough here. My table has crumbs just about every single time.
2. They never seem to get my steak right. Its always too done and too tough. I say medium and I always get medium well.
3. I have unfortunately encountered noisy kids, really no fault of LHS, but its detracts so much from the dining experience.
If LHS can get their tables cleaned and get my steak right, we will be in business!
P.S. went here for Valentine's Day and the wait was very decent! :)
Was there for the first time around the holidays and we stopped at the Argenese candy store (that place is awesome). Â So we were hungry and steak sounded good, so we stopped.
Was early on a Sat evening, got seated in the bar, nice place and great service were the initial impressions. Â Server went over the menu & specials well and made recommendations on seasonings. Â
3 different steaks all cooked to perfection and a really good appetizer. Â We were all happy with our meals so I'd go back again.
It's certainly not a top tier steakhouse like the Chop House, Mortons, or Keefers but it isn't priced the same. Â It's not cheap but I didn't felt we had a good value for our meal. Â Although we didn't partake the wine list looked pretty good too.
All in all, I'd recommend it with the expectations of a really good meal comoparable to an Outback with a better selection of cuts.
I'll be back when I'm in the area.
Longhorn is an OK steakhouse. Â You pay moderate prices and you get the commensurate mid grade steak quality. Â I had a 9 oz filet that was kind of shaped like the state of Texas I think (and I don't think it was deliberate). Â It wasn't the most tender filet, but of adequate quality. Â Longhorn is competitive with an Outback Steakhouse I would say. Â Â The decor is also fresh and nicely Texan, and that's a plus for Longhorn. Â Restaurant was pretty full at 6pm on a Sat evening.
The wife had an OK $12 sirloin. Â The son had a filet/salmon surf/turf for $22, which was also in OK category though a little salty.
I moved from the heart of downtown Chicago to NW Indiana very recently, and that was quite a stump on our dining experience. Not that NW Indiana doesn't have some fine restaurants but for me it's hard to compare Chicago's food dining scene to the Hoosier state lol. I live in a small town where the casual eating options are  fast food, pizza or unpredictable family restaurants which taste great on some days and on some taste like really bad left overs. We live about 30 mins away from Merrillville and we drive there often for shopping and dining. It's very built up and reminds me of a large IL suburb. We had passed the restaurant quite a few times and I suggested to go here instead of Outback steakhouse lol BOY! Was it good! It's not a 5 star steakhouse, but it leaves a smile on my face. I LOVE their drinks! They bring you your own shaker to pour for yourself which usually leaves me with 2-3 servings. Try the watermelon margarita if you like girly drinks and the pomegranate hmm! So good! I always get the "The Longhorn" which is a 24 ounce steak that combines the porterhouse/new york strip/and a large filet. It's chargrilled to perfection and spiced really well. Overall, it's a great place to go too, it has a nice country atmosphere with terrific drinks, servers and STEAKS!! yum!
Review Source:Really good steak for a chain. Not as good as Kelsey's (which is down a few blocks) but good nonetheless. I picked up a steak with blue cheese and it was pretty damn good. The medium was actually medium (not medium-well like some places do it, and the blue cheese was piled on there. really good stuff.
