Our group of ladies meets regularly here for breakfast.  The service and food are wonderful - grilled muffins are such a yummy change of pace! Wonderful locally owned and operated establishment that can easily become a habit.

The food is amazing!  The bread for toast and french toast is out of this world!  I'd go back just for the homemade bread! Great service, very personable waitress.  A definite must if you're in South Glastonbury!

This is our new family breakfast place!  The staff are friendly, especially with the kids, and responsive.  The food is great and homemade items are even better.  The only con (1 star) is the wait, especially if you get there after 9.  If you haven't been, I highly recommend it (esp if you're from NJ like me and need a diner replacement).

Staff really friendly. Great breakfast bar. I was alone walked right in and sat down, at the breakfast bar.  quick beverage service. Fresh baked breads and muffins. Amazing fresh baked butter grilled muffin, was out in mere minutes.  Breakfast bar server Amanda was bubbly and quick. Breakfast plate of eggs and bacon was cooked exactly to my specifications and was sensational. Just like my Papa used up make. The homemade toast AND jelly completed a perfect meal. 9 on a 10 scale. Two thumbs up

We went there for the first time just before we caught a flight to Orlando. I had heard good things about the food so we thought we would give it a try. Being from Glastonbury I thought I would support a local business.
That is the last time we ever go there. The service was the worst I had ever encountered anywhere. Maybe it helps if you are a regular? Our waitress seemed to be more interested in old friends than anybody else. It took us 1.5 hours just to have breakfast. Never again and I make sure I tell anybody that wants to listen how bad it was.

My step-daughter and I decided to give Lottie's a whirl, since we passed by it on the way to school every day. While it's not the worst breakfast out there by far, it does leave something to be desired.

The atmosphere is local-yocal, which wasn't bad, much of what I would expect to see for a "country kitchen". The menu is VERY basic: omelets are cheese, with an additional cost for each item (which is standard), the egg combinations are there, along with french toast, pancakes, and waffles. However, the hash is from a can and the waffles are frozen, so that was disappointing. The bright side is that they make their own bread - and the cinnamon loaf was outstanding. My step-daughter informed me that the chocolate chip pancakes I make are better (which. admittedly, was nice to hear). The prices were average, no real bargain here, but the waitress was wonderful.

Would we go back? Maybe in a pinch, but I'm not sold.

I've been going to Lottie's, through a change in location and ownership, since 1989.  Sadly, though, this is no longer one of my favorite breakfast places.  While they still serve up delicious home baked bread and good portions, the quality just isn't what it once was.  I often leave feeling full, but not very satisfied.  There is no fresh fruit, and their once notable corned beef hash is often not available. In addition, the  restaurant itself needs a thorough cleaning!  Weekend crowds will cause you to wait, uncomfortably shoved in a corner or in the entry-way, and hungry diners will be hovering waiting for you to finish your meal.

Went for first time today, and will be back!!!!!  Again and again.  The BEST thick-sliced homemade raisin bread on the planet.

Lottie's is Charlie's nook of choice in South Glastonbury, CT. I give it two thumbs up (for all the reasons that Charlie said made it great - while I was back East over the summer I learned in one visit that he was right!).

    Charlie Says:

Yeah, Lotties is a really simple place.  There is nothing special on the menu, they serve all the typical breakfast foods.  They use farm fresh eggs (the big kind) and they make their own bread, muffins and jam, which are always delicious.  In my opinion they have the best homefries around.  Everything is cooked on the grill with large amounts of Cabot butter.  What can I say, Lottie's is a great little homestyle breakfast place.  If you go on a Sunday, make sure you get there before the churchies or you'll have to wait outside for a seat to open up.

We forgot to mention the great service - if you're semi-regular the waitstaff gets to know your favorite orders and is super quick on the coffee!

really good breakfast spot. wish it was more on my regular path.

i had some french toast made with nice thick-cut homemade cinnamon swirl bread and it was very good. good coffee too. egg and cheese sandwich on homemade bread was also nice. worth stopping in if you are in the area at breakfast time.

Read the review on yelp and decided to take my family for Breakfast.  Very good food, reasonable prices but best part was the friendliness of the people that work there.  Rick worked the Bar this AM and took very good care of all 7 of us. I would recommend and will return.

Nice place. The homemade wheat bread I had was excellent. The rest was the usual breakfast offerings.

One drawback: they don't accept credit cards. So be prepared.

I appreciated (because I'm weird like this) that they had a separate door for exiting so that people waiting for tables did not have to continually move out of the way. Especially since the waiting area is really non-existent.

I'm always surprised (ten years after moving to CT) that I live in New England and it's virtually impossible to get maple syrup at places that specialize in breakfast. I understand the cost, but really, I live in a constant state of pancake disappointment.

I went back this past week and found out that they are now open on Mondays! Yay!!!

My wife and I really enjoy this place, especially the homemade wheat toast. It's a bit crowded during the mid-to-late morning hours so you may have people staring you down waiting for a table. Not a great spot for big parties of more than 4.

While the portions are good, I can really only rate this as an OK breakfast place. I've had a lot worse (we all have) but I've also had a lot better.

I appreciate the homemade jams, but I can't give the place 4 stars on that alone. When I've visited everything has been satisfying, but I have not left drooling or aching to return. Nothing has stood out as spectacular, only as solid and filling for money paid.

Staff has been iffy, sometimes really nice other times rushing to get us in-n-out.

There really aren't too many breakfast oriented places in town, and I think that is more to the point for the lines.

    Best breakfast around!
Usually a line to get in - so stop for coffee on the way, grab the Sunday NY Times and you are set.
    The french toast is amazing.

I've been going to Lottie's since 1986 and bar none it is the place to go.  The interior leaves something to be desired and the ventilation needs to be boosted, but they are the one of the only places that you can get homemade bread for French Toast and toast as well as homemade jams.  No little packets here like at every other place in town.

The service is quick (most of the time) and the portions are hearty.  They also make many of their other pastries as well (just ask what is made in house).  However, the waffles are Eggos, so don't order those unless you really like Eggo Waffles brand.

Sit and relax with your family or friends.  If you are alone and don't want to use a table, there is a bar to sit at and eat while you watch TV.
