This is a neighborhood sports bar that caters to families and people working in the area.  I have been here for lunch and happy hours multiple times.

Food here is consistently average.  You are not going to get a supreme culinary experience at Lucky's, but if you want a decent burger/sandwich/etc, you'll be fine.  Everything is priced appropriately.

Happy hour deals are good, and the beer selection is decent.  There's free popcorn, which is pretty nice.

The place is really dark inside; so dark that it takes my eyes a few minutes to adjust.  There is a cool patio out back that's great in the warmer months.  Wait staff is usually attentive.

WHAT HAPPENED? went to Lucky 13 today and was completely disappointed. The food was terrible. This was not the first time we had been here, but it may be the last. The food lacked any flavor, it was not even served at the proper temperature - hot food was definitely not hot when it got to the table. None of the diners in my party had any luck with their meal. I am not sure if they switched suppliers, or if they got new chefs but the execution was horrible. I get that it is not haute cuisine, but that makes my point even more clear, it should not be that hard to make bar food at a minimum edible

It's good food. If I was just ranking just the food I would give it a 4 star review but the price of the food is too high. It's high end bar food. I wish they would cut the portion size and the price. Instead of a $15 burger I would rather go somewhere else and get a steak. I know that most don't agree because every time I'm there they pack them in but that is why I don't go more.

I think Lucky's is a good upper end joint for after work gatherings.

We normally do Shamrocks, but we've been to Lucky's twice and they have good food and service.

I would say their menu is modern bar food.  Interesting burgers, salads, and sandwiches.

Lucky's has a good selection of tap beers and decent happy hour prices from 3-6.  $3 off apps and $1.50 off any drink.

Our waitress brought us the free popcorn and water right away.  I did see some other customers refilling their own popcorn bowls, but our waitress did this for us.

    This time we tried:
    Angus Bites  $11.99
    Chicken Nachos  $14.99  (crazy huge)
    Wedge Salad  $9.49
    Ruben Sandwiches $11.99
    Chicken Lettuce Wraps  $10.49
Frickels (breaded and deep fried thin-sliced pickles)  $8.49
    Cheese Curds  $10.99
    Onion Rings  $7.99
    Fries

We liked everything but the angus bites, which were dry.  The nachos are enormous.

They were very accommodating for the picky eaters (wedge salad minus bacon and blue cheese, add feta and ranch)!  They also have a gluten free menu.

I called about three weeks prior and asked if we could reserve a table for 12 at 4pm, she stated they did not take reservations, but I should call back on the date and they'd see what they could do.  I called on the date and she said "you should be fine around 4".  We arrived at 4:05 pm and they stated they'd get a table ready for us, so we did have to wait about 10 minutes to be seated (when they probably could have taken the "reservation" and set this up prior to our arrival).  A couple extra people showed up and they were very accommodating about getting extra chairs and squishing everyone in.

As long as you go before 4:30 pm parking is ok and you can get a table.  Anytime after that and you'll have to park farther down the street or across the street and wait for a table.

I thought the food and service were good.

Not a bad neighborhood watering hole if you ever find yourself on that side of town.

Love love love this place. Love Axels nearby but want a more bar grill option so we went in here after Axel's manager told us that the woman who founded Axels started Lucky's after selling Axels... (Which itself warrants a five star yelp for its homemade potato chips, steaks and ice cream drinks, quite possibly best in the TC but I digress).

at Lucky's I've I had most of the apps and love the Kobe sliders and nachos. Burgers are fab and had a few salads, all excellent. Really great bartenders. A must stop before Or after MOA (they have one right by the mall but I love historic mendota). Have never heard their Friday night music so looking forward to that sometime...

I gave it 4 stars because its a good place with great food. The beer is usually ice cold and the food is usually better than most bar restaurants in the area. The Buffalo Shrimp Poorboy is wonderful, one of my favorite things on the menu, the ingredients they use aren't the best but they combine it wonderfully. My thoughts are to sit down, order a Summit EPA and a sandwich and you wont be disappointed.

We have been coming to Lucky's after the college hockey games for a number of years. Typically, the staff is attentive and the food is consistently good. The prices are slightly higher than one might expect, however. The  brick wall decor and pub ambiance makes it a welcoming and comfortable place to be with friends. We did call ahead and they were very accommodating and had seating for 20 available for us. Unfortunately, the tables were near the hallway to the restrooms and kitchen and something smelled awful down that hallway. To me, it smelled like rotting garbage - maybe raw meat/fish or rotten fruit/vegetables. I ended up moving to the other end of the tables as the smell was quite bothersome. The hostess did help me move, however. Because of the smell, I have to give Lucky's only two stars.  If they can get that smell issue resolved, I will revise my rating.

Met some friends here for dinner Tuesday evening.  The place was very crowded at 6:30 when we arrived.  I'm not sure why because, as we soon discovered, the drinks are expensive and the food is very mediocre.  Noise level was very, very loud and then they started playing bingo.  Just what I wanted; sitting in a booth drinking overpriced drinks eating poor food in a noisy environment and then you get blasted out with "B42, G30, etc.  I definitely will not be back.  Ever!

My sister came in from out of town and the family got together at Lucky's 13 Pub. My dad is very hard of hearing and we asked them if they could turn the music down a little and they were more than willing to do so, it made it easier for Pop's to hear all our chatter! The staff was very friendly, the service was GREAT and the food was very, very good!! Huge portions! My husband and I are definately going back to Lucky's:)

Excellent place for Happy Hour with colleagues!  Food isn't that great--I'd stick to the appetizer menu instead.  Of the two locations I've been to, they are pretty busy so get there early if you'd like a table!  Their service is great overall.

I have really enjoyed Lucky's every time I have been here.  When I lived closer my wife and I would ride our bikes here via the "big rivers trail" which conveniently runs inches from their great Patio.  On weekends, especially during the nice months it is pretty crowded so get there early and grab a beer and some popcorn at the bar.  Though they have fantastic sandwiches, I have been hooked on their signature "Lucky 13 Burger" with a side of their homemade tater tots!  Be warned that though they are extremely delicious, you WILL need at least 10 people to finish their $11.99 Nachos.

I love getting brunch here on Sundays!

they have really good mimosas and they're famous for their BLT bloddy mary, which I actually tried and hated. But that is mostly because I don't like bloddy marys....

They also have a bloomington location, and that one is nice too, but the mendota one is WAY better!!! Just a better atmosphere.

I love the feel of the inside of this place. My date and I marveled at the old-fashioned fans that probably go unnoticed too often.

The food was great though the serving sizes were HUGE. We ordered nachos and got enough to feed a basketball team.

Our waitress was friendly and attentive.

Word to the wise... beware of the punch ;)

Bingo nights brought me to Lucky's 13 and the food kept me coming.

Tuesday is a fun night to pay $1/card for the chance to win up to $100 and enjoy some free popcorn and a pint of Leine's.  Saturday morning bingo is better than scrambled eggs and hash browns with Tobasco after a late Friday night out.

I love the ambience of Lucky's, where even the indoor feels like an outdoor patio with its high ceilings and exposed brick walls.  I never had a problem with a server - either being inattentive or being too attentive, neither of which is preferable to the other.  Food is a decent price, portions are filling, and everybody in the place just seems to be having a great time.  The mood is infectious, so you'll leave Lucky's with a full stomach, lifted spirits, and maybe a slightly fatter wallet if you're lucky!

This is a great place to have a relaxing meal watching sports!  The meal was very good and the service was outstanding.  We had both managers and several employees check on us during the meal.  The cheese curds were very good and made fresh in Ellsworth, WI.  I had the chicken parmigiana sandwich with fresh cut fries.  The place was filled with several large flat screens and music.  Our group tried several different sandwiches and all were satisfied.  Even the sweet potato fries were good.  A must visit when in the area.  Come hungry.

This is one of my favorite places to eat. I love the ambiance, the live music, and the food selection. You can eat typical bar type food or step it up with walleye spring rolls. It is an awesome place and often very busy. The service is good and the food has always been worth any wait time to sit down.

Stopped in for a little drink and dinner. Nice place inside with the old style brick. Plenty of bar spots and regular seating. Parking was ample. The restrooms were very clean. Overall a nice, cozy joint.

The food is good. The quality of the food looks reputable. I was impressed with what we ate. The dipping sauces were not very good on the carver sampler I thought.

The service was good until the server brought our check before we were ready to leave. Other than that the overall service experience was OK.

I will go back and I would recommend that you at least check it out. It's worth stopping in for! I would rate this place a 3.5, but not a 4.

I wasn't really sure what to expect from Lucky's 13, but I got to ride there in my friend's shiny red Lotus, so I didn't much care.  :)

It was a perfect patio night, and the four of us were immediately seated at a nice table.  I was a little bummed we weren't right by the fire pit, but it was nice to not have to wait for a table.  We were given two bowls of popcorn off the bat, which was fab.  Our server took a while to get to us, which was understandable, since they were very busy.  I was really disappointed that she didn't  seem to know much about anything on the menu - food or drinks.

After taking our drink order, we sat with our popcorn for a looooong time.  At least ten minutes.  We had requested a round of waters, and she brought us two for a table of four.  We requested another two to complete the four, and she brought us one.  A third time, we requested the fourth and final water.  Oof.  After the water debacle, she finally explained to us that they needed to find some more cucumbers for one of our drinks, and that's why it was taking so long.  In the meantime, we ordered our food.  Shortly thereafter, our drinks arrived.  My pomegranate mojito was ok.  Not much pomegranate taste, and it wasn't very strong.  Next time I'll order something I know I like.

Dinner arrived in splendid time and fashion.  HUGE portions for the price, and fab taste.  The only complaint with the food is that we seemed to get all tiny bits of fries instead of whole fries.  Other than that, it was delish.

Toward the end of the meal, a manager came by and turned on the lights that live under the patio umbrellas.  They were ultra-bright LED crystal lights, and sort of blinded us, as we'd been sitting in the low light for nearly two hours.  We had to keep turning them off, as several other staff members came over to turn them on again.

All in all, an OK experience.  I'd go back to sit on their awesome patio again.  It was a nice drive from St. Paul over to Mendota on a clear, warm night.

Lucky's was a perfect choice for our late lunch this Sunday. My uncle has been past the restaurant before on bike rides, so we took a chance.

It smells like popcorn as soon as you walk through the door. I couldn't wait to eat handful after complimentary handful. They don't butter it much, if at all, so it's a nice guilt-free option.

The space is huge! It feels like a large cabin, complete with black-and-white photographs on the walls. If you look carefully at the ceiling, you'll notice the fans are all connected with cords. It's nifty!

Lucky's offers a gluten-free menu, which is just a pruned version of their normal menu. If you can't have gluten, you feel better seeing a menu in print that someone verified ahead of time.

Our server was very sweet, and we didn't lack for anything during our meal. I had the bucket o' bones, a generous serving of ribs with most of the sauce on the side. I really, really prefer ribs this way. (Some folks don't like their ribs slathered in sauce.) The fries were also tasty, even without the seasoning.

The burger, sandwich, and pizza options looked delicious. They make a "Juicy Lulu," which made me scoff a little because THEY know it's a Juicy Lucy, and THEY KNOW I KNOW it's a Juicy Lucy. But Lulu is a cute name, and I didn't even order it, so.

I'd definitely recommend Lucky's, especially since they had a nice patio out back and the weather will only get better as summer unfurls.

Great local neighborhood spot!  Large menu, lots of options, reasonable price.  This has a sports bar type of feel.  There is a large round bar area with booths to the side.  Table seating as well.  And a wonderful outdoor patio area for when the weather is nice.

Good spot for happy hour drinks or a casual dinner.

I am not sure what some of these other Yelpers have eaten, but I have been here 15 times, most of the time in groups of 3+, and never had a complaint about food.  Proven menu items include the open faced turkey sandwich, meatloaf, and mac n cheese side.  The club isn't great.  The salads are all excellent.

Lots of beer on tap and popcorn served while you wait.  There is live music here some nights of the week which is fun - but gets kind of loud so be prepared.

Stopped in last night after an afternoon of running errands.  Have been here several times and finally came to the conculsion that it is a good place for happy hour and apps, but not for much else.

My wife had the stacked club, and from the look and taste of the turkey, we were not convinced it was real turkey.  It just seemed a bit off.   I had the chili dogs...bad choice.   The dogs did not have much flavor and the chili tasted like it just came out of a can.

The Lucky's ale was the highlight of last nights visit.

On a recent Monday while meeting with friends, and after snarfing down a bunch of popcorn, I ordered their $5 burger basket Monday special.  I requested the burger medium to med-well done and with their standard fixings, which were a piece of lettuce, a slice of tomato and some slices of pickle.  The burger arrived nicely cooked in a fluffy sesame-seeded bun, and the fries were hot, just as I like them to be.
Although a bit slow on bringing me my first beverage, the waiter was very friendly.
    I'll return.

This place was pretty bad.  The service is quite possibly the worst i have ever seen, and the food looked like they just threw it all together.  The prices were the norm for a bar and grill place like that.

First off, the food.  The food sucked!  We got this Lucky's 13 Dip to split as an app.  It was absolutely horrendous!   They just threw in i'm guessing "13" ingredients and called it a dip.  There was this nasty yellow sauce all over in it, turned out to be nacho cheese sauce, yuck.  At one point we found lettuce on the bottom soaked in the nacho cheese sauce, i mean, what is this, amateur hour!?!?  You don't put lettuce at the bottom of something like that!!  Jesus.

Here's a free tip for Lucky's 13, when you attach your name to something on your menu, make sure its something really good and unique.  A real gem.  You want it to be something people will come back for and you want to make sure people associate it with you.  You DON'T want it to be the nastiest bowl of crap i have ever seen!  Get your head in the game!

Then i got these god awful fish tacos.  They take the time to set the lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, and salsa to the side so you can put them on yourself; but then they load up your tacos with cole slaw!!  WHY!?!?  Why put all the essentials to the side but then load my tacos up with some bizarre taco ingredient like cole slaw?

Then the service...it was dreadful.  My friend asked for a water FOUR different times before they finally brought it to him.  The waitress messed up on the side for my meal.  She never at any point stopped to ask how the food was.  Then when we were done she took everything off of our table and then didn't come back for 5-10 minutes to ask us if we were ready for our check.  Are we ready for our check?  ya think?   No, we'd rather sit around and twiddle our thumbs waiting for you to do your job!

Oh and then there was this girl in charge of handing out Bingo cards and stamps.  She kept coughing in her hand.  DO NOT COUGH OR SNEEZE IN YOUR HAND!!!  Seriously, how ignorant and inconsiderate can someone get?  You're working at a restaurant!

Great place to stop in for a drink and a bite in a really cool area.

This spot in Mendota gives you this total small town feel. Resting along the Minnesota River it is a great old building that I have driven by a hundred times. Out for a bike ride one fall day this seemed like a good time to explore. Found the place to be much more than I was expecting judging from the outside.

The inside was very open, very welcoming and very busy. Had some great appetizers and a couple of beers. They have a great deck out back and must say there will be more trips in my future.

    I am a fan.

    Big ol portions!

I've been to Lucky 13 a basketful of times. Most of the time, the food and service are both good.

Went there recently for lunch with a friend. We both ordered the Village Salad, which is a Greek salad with chicken gyro meat. It came out and it was huge! It had 4 small pieces of pita bread, which I swear were deep-fried. They were crispy and delicious! I would have eaten them all if I hadn't dropped 2 on the ground - dang it!

I've also tried the regular chicken gyro, which I wasn't crazy about, but the nachos, the Cuban, the Parmesan Chicken Sandwich, the quesadilla, the pizza rolls, the onion rings, the list goes on, were all really good.

I like the free popcorn before the meal, but I suspect they've changed it in the last few months, it tastes saltier and less greasy than before.

It's always busy, so get there early after work or at lunch.

I ended up going back to Lucky's to give it another shot. I would up the rating to 3.5 stars. As expected, the Reuben was delightful. My boyfriend got a bowl of chili that was bubbling with cheese and looked spectacular.

Our waitress was great, but she had some help that was a little confused. Immediately after we got our soup and salad, someone shoved them aside with our main entrees. Wasn't a huge deal--I would much rather have fast service than a serving staff that forgets about your table.

I would love to go back in the summer. It's a cool atmosphere inside, but I love the appeal of the giant fireplace outside.

We went on a Sat. about 10:30 or maybe even 11:00 am for breakfast. Great atmosphere! Fantastic building! The food was good, but the people watching and BLT Bloody Mary's were far better. $2 Mimosa's too. Free popcorn & peanuts (for breakfast??? Yep, we still ate them).
AND... at Noon they start Bar Bingo. When that's donw at 3pm, head on over to the VFW acrodd the street for the 3:30 meat raffle. So much to do within 3 blocks... it's amazing! Plus, if they would have served the bloddy's in the bathroom, I would would have stayed in there the whole time! It was kind fo spendy for breakfast, and the service could have been better. We'll go back for dinner maybe.

I went to Lucky's 13 Pub on a busy Friday night and still only had to wait a small amount of time as they cleaned tables quickly.  The server greeted us quickly and had our drinks to us in no time at all.  I ordered Chili and a Walleye Sandwich and my partner had a Reuben and we were both thoroughly impressed.

The Chili came out covered in cheese and fritos, and I couldn't have been more pleased with how it tasted.  Our only issue with our meals was that the main course came out almost simultaneously as our soup and salad.

Overall I'd highly recommend Lucky's, especially if your looking for a nice restaurant tucked away in the Twin Cities.  It is in a suburb but in reality it is no more than 10 minutes from Saint Paul.

Moving up on the star rating!  The weekend nights are fun.  They've got live music, nothing hard core, but you can still hear one another talk.  Still not a huge fan of the staff.  Maybe it's just me.  There was a good crowd the other weekend and props for the unbelievable Halloween decor!  We made a great night and had a couple there before heading to Moose Country for a dance off.  A nice way to change it up - Drive safe though!

Don't get all the negativity here, folks.  It's a bar.  They have bar food, only some of it is better than typical bar food.  Have been here twice and both times the service was prompt, courteous and efficient, and the food was, while not wow!, plenty okay.  Emphasis on plenty.  Skip the onion rings.  You'll want some if you see a heaping platter go by your table, but they're mostly batter.  Ick.  The walleye dinner entree is about the best walleye I've had anywhere, barely and delicately breaded (and I hesitate even to use that word, as it implies thick, doughy, crunchy, you name it) and sauteed to perfection.  Moist, fresh tasting, Yum.  Main course salad I had the other time was fine, but a Mexican-themed salad without black olives seems just plain wrong.  When I mentioned this to our waitress when I ordered the salad, she delivered it with black olives.  Mad props to her for that.
My date loves the chicken with spiced apples.  He allowed me a bite and it was really tasty too.
So, ironically enough, they seem to be stronger with the non-pub-style, restaurant-y food.

    Pros
    - free popcorn & peanuts on the tables
    - 2 beers = $6.50 during hh
    - exposed brick, cool vibe, pressed tin ceiling
    - nice restrooms (free tampons, hairspray, etc)
    - MASSIVE portions of food

    Cons
    - food was kinda meh
    - walleye BLT was super bland
    - MASSIVE portions of food.....feel free to split (maybe 3 ways!)

I think this is a great place for a happy hour and a not-so-great place for a meal, but you may disagree.  My husband says I eat tree hugger food.....so maybe this just isn't my type of dining destination?

Kind of a cross between a place you like and a place you avoid.  On the border, potential exists.

Good list of beers, the sandwich and salad lunch combo is a good price.  I thought the service was awesome.

Nothing on the wine list spoke to me, per se, but the beer and popcorn combo worked fine.

My husband and I went to Lucky's with another couple on a boring Saturday afternoon.  This other couple are die hard Montana State alumni and mentioned there was an alumni get together going on.  I was not at all prepared for the number of Montana alumni that live in the TC area.  The place was packed and it was 1pm.  But it was an excuse to drink in the afternoon.  I never turn that down.

    Pros:
Very cool space (big steel tiles on ceiling, brick walls, loooong bar, open kitchen)
Back patio with heat lamps and a huge gas fire pit.
Me thinking I won at BINGO but it was a coverall so I made a complete ass of myself  (not sure if its a pro or con but it wasn't their fault I'm a moron and it made me laugh :)

    Cons:
Cranky hostess (probably because there was an hour plus wait for a table and she had her hand in some crazy contraption, like she had just had surgury)
Campers (people who never leave), especially cranky, elderly ones obsessed with BINGO.

    Super Cons:
Servers clean their tables and put dirty plates, food gunk, etc into a dumping pit right across from the bathrooms.  (It was stanky.  Plus, that was the way out to the patio) They need to hide that shit.  It's disgusting.
Lastly, the Food....I know this place is owned by Axel's and I didn't give them a stellar review by any means.  I tried to not let that affect my review.  But my biggest complaint was the food.  It was just so...meh.  One of us ordered a Juicy Lucy and it was RAW inside.  Yuck-o.

Since Lucky's is on the other side of the TC from me, I probably won't be back anytime soon.  But it is a cute layout and would be a kick ass place if they made some corrections.

I've never had any problems with service. When I walked in the door I was handed a beer [on the house] for waiting a mere two minutes. It's an open atmosphere, fun and a great place to catch a game. Hand carved sandwiches are good and they have a great lunch menu. I was told that it was owned by the same group that runs Axl's and Bonfire, don't hold me to though!

We went last Friday night at 6 pm.  We called ahead and were told, don't worry, at that time of night you'll get a table fast.  So we drive up and the first hint of possible trouble is that there is no parking within 2 blocks.  We finally get in the door and the place is jammed!!  Hostess smiles, apologizes and tells us to expect a 45 minute wait.  Moments later, one of the owners hands us a free glass of wine, and within 15 minutes, we're at our table.  So, here we were prepared to be pissed and frustrated and the wait wasn't really too bad.

As for the food, I'd say it depends on what you get.  A couple of my companions had the garlic beef sandwich and loved it.  I got one of the salads (grilled chicken of some kind).  The salad was pretty good but for 12.95, there should have been more than a measly chicken breast that couldn't have been more than 3 or 4 ounces.

We saw a plate of nachos go by and that looked FAB!

One of the owners (at least that's what my sister said), kept standing near the front and literally staring at diners.  That was a bit weird....

So - reasonably good food.  The bar was rocking but I can't comment since we all had iced tea.  They must be doing something right because people kept flocking in the door.

I wish there was a negative stars function. My mom dragged me here again, and it took forever to order a really expensive drink. I had to listen to a bunch of guys trying to be tough, and there were sports on every TV. But the best part of the experience, and why I'm doing an update is because my mom ordered a drink TO GO and they obliged without even blinking. I guess this is normal in tiny towns? Just dumped her drink from the glass to a plastic cup and she was on her way. Damn. The only redeeming quality is their free popcorn and peanuts, that are much more satifsying than their shitty food.
