Can I give it 0 stars???
AC doesn't work well, workers are spending more time talking to each other than taking care of customers/cleaning the filthy restaurant/wiping down tables, food takes forever to come out (especially if you order chicken souvlaki), and not even the "manager" (Alexandra) really takes a lot of responsibility for the mix ups! Â Food flavor was so-so, not authentically Greek. Â Prices were higher than food quality.
While waiting 20 mins for dine-in (lunch time: 2 hamburgers, 1 chicken souvlaki pita w/rice, & 1 chicken gyro w/fries), at least 4 other people behind me got their food, 3-4 people complained about waiting for food, & 1 returned her food because the order was wrong. Â The cashier taking my order continually asked, "Huh?" And wouldn't make eye contact. Â (She wasn't deaf, just distracted and unable to do her job efficiently without direct eye contact.) Â She got #s of drinks wrong, # of items wrong, & sides wrong. Â When asked if she was a new hire, she misunderstood and said, "Huh? The menu's not new.".
Incompetence on top of crazy systems that are inefficient. Â It was truly a MAD GREEK experience. Â And I was MAD afterwards--waste of good money, waste of my time, waste of neurons too.
If you are a AAA member, get the discount card at the mall information desk, near the food court. Use it here. Located outside the mall, near the parking lot.
Casual dining restaurant. You order your food and pay for it at the counter. The chicken Gyro and rice combo plate was very good. Thigh meat was used and there were pieces of fat on the chicken, which I understand why they use thigh meat (breasts get dry), but I don't like eating fat. Good size Gyro, too. The rice was really good, but a little more salty than I like. My husband said it was good overall, but he's had better Gyro at another place. If we eat here again, I'd get the falafel instead.
Dessert selections include Baklava.
The seating area is an L-shape. There is a condiment station, but no napkins. The trash receptacle opening is very small, so you have to fold up the plates to get it through the small circular opening. Free refills on fountain drinks.
Bathroom has baby changing station with a working strap. Two stalls.
Authentic Greek music is played here.
Also has drive-thru window.
On the way back from Vegas, is a pit stop after a long and depressing stretch of desert. Your food options are pretty limited; you only have Del Taco, McDonald's, Denny's and The Mad Greek Cafe to choose from. Oh and some shady, out-of-this-world place (literally) named Alien Beef Jerky. Which would you choose? Choose your own adventure...
I've driven past another Mad Greek Cafe in Orange County myriad times, but never paid attention. However, I am a fan of Greek food, especially with recent articles promoting the health effects of the Mediterranean diet. I'm sure the researchers weren't referring to greasy, Greek restaurant food but that's not going to stop me!
Decor: The Mad Greek here seems confused, and for the patron, it will be a visual overload. There are signs, paintings, trinkets, statues, and all the random crap jumbled into one restaurant. I'm talking about a ghetto framed picture of John Travolta, coupled with a naked resin statuette of Zeus or Athena. Restaurant Impossible would not be pleased. I'm all for simple and minimalist decor, and I go with the camp that "less is more," so this definitely overwhelmed me. It just makes it look messy, and it's all too unnecessary.
Food: Again, Mad Greek needs to simplify, simplify, simplify. "Less is more," people! More options isn't always a good thing. In fact, the menu was just information overload, and way too much to take in. As a result, ordering took forever and it slowed down the fast food process. They also have too many genres of food - gyros, burgers, breakfast, gelato, shakes, etc. They need to keep a few that are the best, i.e. gyros and shishkabobs and get rid of the rest. I got their lamb/beef combo gyro with a side of buttered rice. The rice was soft and flavorful, but it also meant it had a ton of butter. The meat itself definitely erred to the side of being too salty. I still finished it all within 1.5 meals though. Another "con" is that it was rather pricey at $9+ for the platter, especially given the fact that it wasn't a full sit-down kind of restaurant.
Cleanliness: I get the impression that the restaurant is not very cleanly. I think the employees give me the vibe. They just don't look too happy to be there, and I overheard an employee talking on her cell in the bathroom stall. Can you go outside for that please? Just seems unsanitary and slightly disgusting, and it affects my opinion of their customer service and professionalism.
Mad Greek is a decent place if you view it as a pit stop and a place to go to the bathroom. Other than that, I wouldn't go here. McDonald's service and cleanliness might be more consistent, even. Oh, and can we get an In-N-Out here, please??
$15 for chicken gyro and strawberry shake. Â WOW, a little expensive.
First, the strawberry shake tasted just OK, I can't wrap my head around the taste, but it tasted plastic, just my opinion.
The chicken gyro was solid, B+. Â I also liked the rice and fries that came with it.
Would I stop here again, probably not. Â I felt the food offering was not worth the price, but I'm always up for trying new things, plus the time to prepare the food is NOT quick.
Portions here are friggn HUGE!
Its not the best Greek food in the world and I don't think you should go into it thinking as much. But the food is good for a quick stop or a drive thru. They have all kinds of desserts including baklava.
I had the gyro meal which came with rice and the yogurt sauce which I love. The gyro was huge and pretty hard to bite so I ended up having to fork and knife it. After hitting the outlets and doing some damage this was definitely a good quick bite before hitting the road to vegas.
Driving from LA to Vegas, we stopped here for gas and for a quick lunch. Â The choices were limited and a little on the expensive side, especially for a fast food place. Â My son order the gyro sandwich (wrap) with rice combo and that was $10. Â I ordered the gyros plate which comes with rice, salad, and pita bread -- that was $15. Â We both thought the gyros and rice were OK at best, but at least the portions were plentiful. Â Oh yeah, my son also ordered a side order of dolmades, and that was sort of bad since it contained only rice and spices -- no meat in the mixture.
But being big eaters, I give them an average rating due to the portion sizes.
After a long 5 hour drive back to vegas from Cali we were ravenous and stopped here. Mistake. The only reason I gave this 2 stars (I was being generous) is because my boyfriend liked the gyro he ate. The rest of our order, not so much. Plus the blonde girl who waited on us was really nice and professional.
The spanikopita was not good. I couldn't even finish one. Hummus was just ok, pretty bland. The large greek salad was all white lettuce and light red tomatoes with a few cucumbers!! Gross. Gross. Gross. We hardly ever send food back but my bf brought it back to the counter and the girl was real professional. She offered a refund or something else to replace it. He chose baklava to go - haven't tried it yet. Probably won't. :{ And the prices are outrageous for what you get!! Everything we ordered, including a large lemonade and a large bottle of water, came to $37!!! Gah!!!
The MG Cafe is definitely a nice change of pace from all the traditional fast food establishments found coming and going to Vegas. Their claim is "Best gyro in America." I don't know about that, but it is certainly the best gyro in Primm. In fact, it's probably the only gyro in Primm. Â Seriously, it's legit. The meat is hot and tasty. The pita is fresh and fluffy, and the rice is nice, just add some spice with the Tapatio. Dine-in, and ask for the "trucker's discount." Â Not a trucker? Just wear your best beat-up Levis jacket, don't bath for several days, and throw a few cuss words around if you need to, but really, I think they give it to any traveler in hopes you shall return. I'll come back again before I go to the Mc D's or Carls. Don't get Mad, get Greek. Mad Greek, that is!
Review Source:So, for some reason, even in LA, gyros aren't readily available. So, from time to time, on my way to or from Vegas, I'll hit up The Mad Greek for a fix!
Their food isn't bad but it's far from great. Their gyros are good, tzatziki is good and their pitas are good. Their fries are definitely the frozen kind, so that's no bueno. And their rice is a hit or miss.
It's definitely pricey for what it is. They're obviously taking advantage of their location, and price gouging. $12 for the size of their gyros, is ridiculous.
Service is good, servers are friendly. Decor, is super cheesy. The 80's Greek Chic look, needs some updating!
I'll still go back, only because, I love gyros. You could know me for years, and never know that about me though, again, because they're just hard to find in LA!
Food: 3
Ambience: 2
Service: 4
Value: 1
On your way home from Vegas, you pass a lot of fast food. Greasy, genetically modified products are everywhere. Stopping at the Mad Greek Cafe isn't going to rock your world, but it will give you some healthIER options. The Greek salad came heavy with the feta, but was tasty nonetheless. The dolmades-satisfying. I even hear that the hamburger (not Greek) was good. And if you're into shakes, they're made of ice cream, none of that fruit or malty milk business.
Review Source:Great food, terrible service. We waited for 45 min for our to go order of a gyro plate. this is at 9am in the mornin!!! I don't understand how the kitchen staff and front staff can efficiently run this place, especially when there is a lunch crowd!
Should have gone to carls or McDonald's instead!
Wow WTF. Â Overpriced food. Â Never had I wished that I had eaten at McDonald's more after eating here.
Gyro, Avocado burger, and calamari, $27.
Gyro is advertised as the best gyro in the US. HARDLY! Â I'd much prefer the gyro from Daphne's! (and they suck) Â The meat was haphazardly sliced, making some of them thin and dry, and other thick and not hot all the way through. Â I think they preslice the gyro, bc otherwise how could that happen? Â Gyro came with a side of the blandest rice I have ever had. Some of the rice was al dente, while other parts were mushy. Â The tzatziki was so overly sour that it was quite off putting, and I love sour. Â Onions were sliced way too thick and fat.
Burger was thin and cold. Â It was advertised as an avocado burger, but it really was guacamole style "sauce" instead. Â If this had been a $2.99 burger at a local diner it would have been passable, but for $8? no. Â Came with soggy limp fries.
Calamari was COLD! Â Anyone who's eaten deep fried foods know it takes a while for it to cool down enough to eat. Â As soon as the girl gave us our food I went for the calamari. Â Of course you want to eat what's crispy first right? Â First bite was cold and rubbery. Â Tastewise, again flavorless. Â Even the marinara it was served with was bland. Â How can you mess up food this bad?!
After I ate, I felt that unmistakeable feeling you get after eating too much MSG laden Chinese food. Â Spine and hips aching. Â Felt like barfing. Â Needed to seek restroom asap. Â Funny though, usually when you eat MSG, it's supposed to make your tastebuds more sensitive, make food taste more TASTIER! Â WTF happened here then? Â We ate probably about 35% of our food and tossed the rest. Â Not at all edible. Â Made for the WORST drive home to OC with crazy traffic too nonetheless. Â Never coming here ever again. Â And I don't ever want to try the other locations either.
We stopped by Mad Greek on the way back to Cali (this one is located in the parking lot of the Primm Outlets). Â There was a drive-through and it was close to lunchtime so I decided to get the Gyro Greek Salad. Â At close to $12, I thought it was kind of pricey, but then I opened up my huge styrofoam platter of salad with lots of freshly sliced, tender pieces of beef-lamb gyro, and it somewhat justified the price. Â There was plenty of feta cheese, olives, cucumbers, red onions, and tomatoes too. Â It comes with 4 slices of warm pita bread, tzatziki sauce, and greek dressing. Â It was good, but I can't say anything about the interior or service since it was just a quick meal on the go.
Review Source:me and the buddies stopped by after a crazy bachelor party weekend in vegas.
they were ranting and raving about how delicious their gyro combo was after a weekend of partying.
i've had my share of some amazing greek food and i though this plac was ok.
good portions of meat and veggies. good zizigi sauce. and good fries.
other than that. it wasn't mind blowing or unique.
so only three stars for me. but i would definitely eat there again.
Driving out of Las Vegas.. my friends are going crazy to eat at Mad Greek. I for one.. have never tried it.. I mean.. I've seen it all the time but I just haven't heard anything about it til now. They make the biggest fuss about how you must try their gyros when leaving Vegas. Kind of like the obligatory trek to Alien Jerky sort of thing.
So anyway, the line wasn't too long. I order the beef and lamb gyro, couple friends order the chicken gyro and we get a number so staff can bring us our food. The gyros were.. hm... how should I say this... OVERRATED!! I mean.. in the 20 minutes of parking, walking in, ordering and then waiting for our orders to come out, my friends were talking the place up. My first bite was decent, and then it got old real fast. Hated the rice BTW. I basically didn't finish the gyro and right about the time my friends were finishing up their meal, the coup de grace: baby cockroach walking down the wall right behind me.
We leave immediately, and the friends who ordered the chicken gyro get sick the minute we turn on the car engine. SIGH.... no good.
Update: Heard Guy Fieri recommended this place and I've got to say.. I hate him and his recommendations.
Stopped by on our way to Vegas. I ordered the gyro, it's good but nothing special. I had better gyros (gyros are a family favorite). I think this place is over priced and over hyped. Â I may eat here again in the near future only because I like to stop by the Fashion Outlet on the way to Vegas. :)
Not bad overall.
After a very long day of dealing with a hangover and then making the commute to Primm for some shopping, and then actually shopping before going to more shopping, one needs sustenance! At first, we thought ok, let's just go to the drive through at the nearby McDonalds, only to find one of the longest lines on record. That clearly wouldn't do. So we drove to the nearest thing and while looking at some of the reviews prior to writing this I might have normally thought twice, hunger won out that day and I failed to look at Yelp. In retrospect, I'm glad my stomach won instead of brain/logic.
Feeling like an overwhelmed mother driving a minivan (I had 5 other people in a minivan all clamoring to order), I was more than relived to encounter a more than helpful and accommodating order taker at the drive thru. More madness would ensue at the pickup window, because despite everything, you are bound to forget to order a soda.
Well onto the menu. Is it the most authentic greek food you will ever had? Heck no, but it certainly is pretty darn good and tasty. While some in our group opted for the chicken which was respectable, a friend and I opted for the beef/lamb gyro which was full of flavor and decently executed. The meat was tender and while a little dry, it certainly was nothing to worry over because the bold herb flavors more than made up for it and the tsatziki sauce was certainly very flavorful and added some moisture to the meat. Overall, it was refreshing and flavorful while at the same time filling your belly and providing sustenance to continue your adventure.
Prices were decent and the soda sizes large. If you happen to be on the run and need some food on the go, The Mad Greek certainly a decent place to stop off at. Oh, don't plan to drive while attempting to eat a gyro. I don't recommend it unless the I-15 is like a parking lot.
Not Guy Row but Euro. I knew I mispronounced it.
Service - Â EEhhh--Ok. Young girl taking our order on July 29, 2012 between the hours of 12 pm and 2 pm had a blank expression. Guess me pronouncing Gyro wasn't funny (Gyro = Euro). It was funny to me.
Food - Ehh-ok. Hungry as hell, heat felt like hell in that area.
Overall - Ehh-ok
The GYRO was ok at best. The chicken was VERY difficult to chew as it was VERRRRY dry. The fries were good and the yogurt/cucumber dip sauce was good.
Prices are VERY high for the food you receive and the location is TRULY in need of a make over.
Place was VERY crowded so I guess many of us (on this day) believed the hype and/or were simply curious?
The staff was VERY nice and went out of their way to be of service.
NOTHING special about this place but I am willing to give it another try on my next visit.
The food is terrible, but the banana shake is pretty good. I've tried the falafel, the fried avocado pieces and the spanokopita and they were all awful. The spanokopita was actually inedible.
Also, they would not allow me to order flat bread alone or instead of pita with falafel or hummus and they wouldn't let my friends order the gyro unless they ordered the gyros meal.
Always wanted to try this place...
Finally stopped this weekend on our way home from Vegas and I do NOT get the hype... definitely have had MUCH better Greek food in Los Angeles.
We ordered the Gyro Meal and Steak & Egg Breakfast Burrito.
Nothing special about the food.
Needless to say I tried it and will probably never stop again... maybe the one in Baker is better?! Who knows...
I was really excited to have a chicken gyro. Â It was like a mirage in the desert though, because I got in line, and they informed me they ran out of chicken.
At 3 oclock in the afternoon.
Looked around the restaurant, it was pretty empty, considering it was a weekday. Â Despite the look of sadness on my face, they didn't even offer an alternative. Â No.. hey what about this instead? Â Just.. sorry, we don't have it. Â Uh..
I stared at the menu for a while longer and ended up just getting pita and hummus because I was starving. Â I tried some of my friend's Greek salad, it was edible but I wouldn't say it was mindblowing. Â This saddened me because I've had Mad Greek at the other location en route to Vegas, and had a good experience. Â Safe to say, I would NOT stop here again. Â I'll pass.
My bf and I stopped at The Mad Greek on our return from Vegas. Â We ordered the lamb gyro sandwich, which was recommended by Chef Guy Fieri. Â The gyro was moist and had the perfect balance of flavors.
There were a lot of people here, but the service was very efficient. Â It boasts of having the best gyros and it really lives up to that.
Primm Valley is the place to fill up the tank on the way to & from Vegas. Since all of us had to grab a quick bite before getting back on the road, we decided to give the angry greek a visit.
The gf & I each ordered a gyro combo, plus a side of hummus and pita bread. The gyro is a mix of lamb & beef with some veggies wrapped in a pita bread. I asked if I could have a beef-only gyro, and they said they couldn't do that. I've only been to a handful of places that serve gyros, but the ones here were the largest I've seen. As other yelpers mentioned, the meat is salty, which was a good thing in my book. The pita bread wasn't warm, but was soft and fluffy enough to complement the meats well. The gyro combo came with some average fries and some sort of disgusting potato salad(?) which most of us confused for ranch at first.
The hummus was definitely not the best I ever had, but was decent. The problem I had with it was that it was bland. In my opinion, the hummus should be the heart & soul of the meal, and it did not deliver.
One of my friends ordered a burger, which looked pretty impressive at first glance. As he took a couple bites into it.. he commented about the dryness of the patty, comparing it to an old lady's.... uhm.. yeah, let's just say he was disappointed by it. Avoid.
Cliff Notes: If you don't mind having your food on the salty side, you might enjoy their large-size gyro. Everything else is just eh.
Primm is usually a pit stop when we're going to and coming back from Vegas. Gas, bathroom break, and food are usually our main reason for stopping at Primm. There are many fast food restaurants in Primm and they even have a food court inside the outlet mall, but I usually find myself wanting Mad Greek because fast food just doesn't sound as good as a real meal. And their big white and blue sign always catches my attention. Â Mad Greek always sounds soooo good. But usually after a couple of bites, I come to the realization of meh, I should have gotten something else.
I always get the gyro with beef and lamb. The meat is incredible tender but it's a little too salty for my liking. I have to give it a heavy dose of tzatziki sauce just to cool down the saltiness. Which isn't such a bad thing because their tzatziki sauce is pretty good, but sometimes the balance of tart yogurt and salty meat can be a little unsettling for the belly. The pita bread that the gyro is served in is absolutely delicious though. So toasty yet soft, mmm... it's perfect. However, the rice that comes with the gyro combo is also very forgettable
I don't really know much about Greek food so maybe my undistinguished palate isn't familiar with what a "real" gyro is suppose to taste like. But my palate does know salt, and the two times I tried Mad Greek, there was an over abundance of it. For $10, I don't think it's really worth it.
I love greek food, and I'm normally a fan of The Mad Greek in Stanton, CA but this didn't live up to the talk and praises I've heard. We got there at 10:30, and that is when breakfast is not being served anymore. But the guy ordering next to us ordered a  breakfast meal, so when my boyfriend ordered it, the girl taking his order said they don't serve breakfast anymore. She was quite rude about it, and we were kind of upset that they let others order breakfast and not us. I ordered a gyro so it didn't matter to me, but my boyfriend wanted breakfast, so when she agreed to take our order, we were relieved.
The gyro was VERY salty. In fact, everything was very salty. They do pile on the meat, but they also overstuff it with onions, tomatoes, and lettuce. I got kind of sick of the pita because it was really cold so I just ate the meat out of the pita. For about $10, I also thought it was pretty pricey. I've had gyros in many restaurants and I've never paid so much for it. The breakfast place was about $7 and my boyfriend said it was just ok. It had eggs, bacon, and pancakes. I had a bite of the pancakes and they weren't anything special, and I've honestly had better at a Norm's back in SoCal at like 3am.
Of course, yet another restaurant Guy Fieri recommends and it's just not good. I will settle for McDonalds or Del Taco next time.
Best Gryo's! I have had in a very long time! This is well worth the stop. Â I ordered: Â
Gryo with fries about 10.00 bucks
Banana Milkshake about 4.00 bucks
And of course I asked if they have a military discount and they do :) Even better.
The food was fresh and left you wanting more! The place its self can use some decorating and wasn't exactlly the most clean but there is a lot of traffic that comes in and out of this place because of the location.
Mad Greek, Sad Greek, Bad Greek. Welcome to my first ever one star review.
If I had to eat here again, I would stick to the pita bread and herbed yogurt dip. The falafel still tasted like the cardboard box that they poured the "just add water" mix from. It was served with a little cup that I expected to contain hummus, but was actually just broken, bitter tahini or maybe plaster, with parsley mixed in. The Uncle Ben's parboiled rice was nothing to complain about in comparison the rest of the food, as it was actually edible. The tiropita tasted like old grease, and lacked any filling aside from a few crumbles of dehydrated feta cheese. I also ordered a cafe frappe, but what I was served was just a cup of milk and ice cubes with a splash of coffee.
The place was packed with a tourist crowd, and for once, I wanted to encourage people to choose Taco Bell, McDonalds, or even Carl's Jr for a much better value. Sadly, I remember some of the same food items being decent at the Baker location.
SHOTTY CUSTOMER SERVICE.. i saw 2 diff customers get orders delayed or wrong in the short time i was here!! (luckily i wasn't one of them) BUT at least they are super apologetic for their mistakes!
ordered the GYRO w/ a side salad & drink before i dove head-on into VEGAS to LA traffic for around ten bucks!
it was filling & the meat was tasty BUUUuuut it still wasn't a gyro i'd rave about but it sure beats having KFC brewing in your stomach on the 4 hour trip back!!
i just get the desserts here... baklava and this other cookie... the cookie is good. Reminds me of the Mexican Wedding Cookie but it's not haha. baklava is alright... my friends love it.
Parking: easy, parking avaliable
Ambiance: Greek theme
Overall, standard. The other Mad Greek is better.
This place is alright. Somehow or another my friends and I always hit this place up either before or after showing up in Vegas. Its like a ritual but the food isn't spectacular. Its just alright.
I enjoy other restaurants in San Diego that makes similar food a lot better and that's really all that I can add to the reviews of this eatery.
I've been to this particular Mad Greek twice now and just wanted to write a few notes- mainly gripes. This restaurant is in Primm by the way, not Jean as in the info.
I'm always looking for a decent gyros sandwich. I'm a Chicagoan in exile in Vegas and can't shake the jones for the stuff having been raised on the best in the Chicago area.
Price- very expensive for what you get IMO. You get a "combo meal" of sorts- Gyros sandwich, rice, and a medium drink for $9.85. If you think you can save some money by just getting the sandwich alone, they will give it to you, but for $9.85. So, you're really stuck with a half pound of white rice they throw in to make it seem like you're getting a better deal I guess.
The gyros- The meat itself is pretty good. It looks like it's re- heated pre sliced stuff rather than carved off the spit, a bit on the dry side, but tasty.
My gripe with the sandwich is they serve only a few slices over a bunch of lettuce in the pita, so you only get a half full sandwich pumped up with lettuce. Definitely not worth the price IMO.
Service- as mentioned in numerous other reviews, the employees at this place seem to be sleep walking- lights are on but nobody's home.
Since I love the Mad Greek in Baker, I thought that I hit the jackpot when I found this at stateline.
The food is good, although a little expensive. The service, however, was just plain bad. Most of the employees seem to hate being there or they just don't care.
They have a regular gyro combo that included rice and a drink for the same price as the gyro and chicken gyro were by theirselves. A logical person would think that substituting the regular gyro with the chicken gyro would be no problem since they are the same price, right? Not exactly. The guy taking my order at the register told me that they didn't have chicken gyro combos. I said, 'It's the same price on the menu.' He gave me a blank stare and shrugged his shoulders.
After we ordered, we grabbed a seat an waited for our food...and waited...and waited. After seeing so many people behind us get their food, my bf walked up to the guy at the register to find out what was going on with our order. Apparently, the cooks had placed it in the wrong spot and forgot to make it. When my bf tells me that, I go up and tell Mr. Apathetic at the cash register that if they haven't even made my food, to just give me my money back. I'd rather go to Carl's. A very sweet girl, told me that the food was ready and she would bring it to my table. Â The manager stood right there and offered no apology or didn't even acknowledge the situation.
Not worth going back to, even if the food is good.
.
missed the one in Baker, and was super bummed..and out of nowhere i found this one! I was so relieved i was going to get my DATE SHAKE that i was ohh so craving the whole trip!....
yes, the resturant is nothing like the one in Baker, its modern looking..clean and really big!! It was Super empty when we got there, just us 3 and some man....Everything was made the same, and tasted the same...but this time i tried a burger and their tabouleh.. MmmmMM MmM good!
i was satisfied, yes it isnt like the original one...but it will do...anything for that gyro and date shake!
(1.5 stars)
Mad Greek Cafe is kind of like a rough around the edges Daphne's; it is located just outside of Las Vegas (and on the way back to Los Angeles). Â I am not a huge fan of Daphne's so this one did not appeal to me that much.
Mad Greek Cafe has a big menu from gyros to grilled cheese sandwiches to deep fried chicken strips; they feature pretty big portions and decent prices. Â The food ranges from very below average to slightly below average (though I did not have a gyro; maybe they are okay here). Â A lot of the food was oily/greasy.
The most interesting thing on the menu, to me at least, was their fried mushroom appetizer. Â The dish reminded me of the fried mushrooms they sold at a diner I once visited (that originally opened in the 1950s). Â The diner was old school with telephones at the booths that were used to order food directly from the kitchen. Â For Mad Greek though, you order at the counter.
Instead of going to Mad Greek Cafe, my suggestion is to eat in Vegas prior to leaving or to wait (if you can) to Barstow where there are more options.
Parking is easy to find in the huge, free lot.
If you do dine here and would also like to fill up your tank, there is a gas station near Mad Greek Cafe that was unbelievably busy (though quite equipped to handle the rush due to many gas pumps).
Newest 'Mad Greek Cafe' near Vegas, NV. Â Its by the Primm Fashion Outlet.
Food: Decent. Â Gyro (Lamb/Beef) & Calamari Sandwich (Gyro). Â They're pretty decent size too. Â You definitely need the sauce so make sure you have enough. Â Gyro comes with rice, & drink. Â Can't just get the Gyro itself.
I visited because so many people talked about this place, but I think its not worth the out of the way drive to eat. Â However, if you are in the area you could pass by because food isn't too bad.
Parking: Plenty of parking in the lot.
Seats: Enough seating for big and small parties. Â Its like a burger joint.
Price: It is a little pricey but I'm guessing its because its part of Vegas prices.
Other locations: Think theres one in Vegas and the other one is the original one on the way to Vegas from LA, think its exist bakers or something where the thermostat is.
