Awesome cocktails in a pretty good bar atmosphere. To be honest, the place was completely empty at 7 PM on a Thursday evening when we came in. The downstairs bar didn't look that tiki, but the drinks were great. We ended up going upstairs and ordering them with our food (see my separate review under Mt. Fuji Inn). The bartender was very friendly - actually playing the piano when we walked in - and encouraged us to do whatever we pleased.

They do have a small menu of fried Chinese appetizer staples available downstairs. On a weeknight, I would definitely recommend calling first if you plan on arriving after 9 PM, as they often close early. Definitely a unique place in the middle of Omaha.

I didn't really have a favorite bar in Omaha before I went to the Mai Tai lounge, but I damn sure have a favorite now.

There are a lot of otherwise "good" bars in this city, hell in most cities for that matter, that have for their predominant characteristic a certain unspoken pretense. These are the bars where no server is allowed to wear anything but sleek, black-on-black clothing and if one does find a married couple, it's very likely that their car keys will be in a serving bowl at a friend's house later that evening. They're fun to go to, and on occasion they employ spectacularly proficient booze-slingers, but as a whole they tend to be places you have to be in the right "mood" to enjoy. Luckily, happily, BLESSEDLY even, Mai Tai Lounge is not one such bar. This is a place where your bartender or waiter cares more about doing their job and doing it well than they do about how precisely short their dresses are or how well their just-so-unbuttoned shirt accents their ripped pecs. Employees were dressed in festive, somewhat tacky, casual clothing, customers in whatever-the-hell they felt like wearing.

Obviously, bars aren't just about what kind of people you're surrounded by, they're about BOOZE. And again, Mai Tai delivers. The XXX drinks are the best, in my humble opinion, though everything on the menu is well made, so as long as you don't pick something out of your comfort zone (grapefruit grog? no thanks) you'll be happy and on your way to a well-worth-it hangover.

I love this place, its a great place for you and your friends to get a little shlickered at! The Mai Tais are so yummy, can't even taste the alcohol. Which could ultimately be good and bad :) You're only allowed two though unless you get a cool waitress or they arn't paying attention. The cellphone service sucks though so if you plan on bringing your phone in you might as well put it away. The atmosphere makes you feel like your in the 70s which I think is pretty cool. One of my fav places!

This is a must-see whenever we have friends come visit from out of town. The drinks are fabulous (and strong!) I love the Zombie but the regular Mai Tai is also fabulous!

I enjoy my time here. The drinks are delicious. As said in previous reviews, two drinks per person. Its fun to go for birthday celebrations, and other occasions.

While it's been at least three years since my last visit, I have been Mai Tai Lounge many times.  For an Omaha bar, it kind of stands out because of what it is and what it isn't.  Too often you see these trendy bars that become the flavor of the week and there's really nothing cool or unique about them.  Fortunately, the Mai Tai is what it is.  And that is a fun place to hang out with some pretty strong but flavorful drinks.  The place is hidden in the basement of a Chinese restaurant so it can be a bit hard to find if you're just driving by.  Once in the bar, it's kind of drak with bamboo and a large fish tank.  I recommend the Mai Tai's, the Zombie, or the Fog Cutter.

It was late afternoon in the summer and you couldn't see your hand in front of your face while feeling along the wall down the staircase to the lounge area. I LOVED IT.

This is the place to go when you want a strong drink in a dark bar. The first thing I said when I saw it was, "this is like the Regal Beagle from Three's Company". It's the bar that time forgot, with creepy in-wall aquariums, tiki lamps, with an at-sea theme. The bartender, Mike, was very talkative and disgruntled, which we have discovered over time is just his thing. If this place were in CA it would be packed with every retro hippster in SF.

Fun bar to go to in Omaha.  The drinks (especially the Zombie) are great, but take caution and stick to the two drink maximum. Heck, nowadays I can get drunk off of just one drink. I know it doesn't taste like it, but they have A LOT of alcohol in them.

Oh the Mai Tai, Omaha's hidden alcohol den! The Mai Tai is a little difficult to find since it is located underneath a Chinese restaurant. We would always go here on our nights off of work since it closes so early (10pm).

They usually aren't strict with the 2 drink maximum, at least not on our experiences, though you probably won't need much more. I don't know what they put into that Mai Tai, but it is delicious, goes down easy, and gets you drunk.

The decor is also is hilarious. I have never seen so much orange shag carpeting in my life, but it is awesome. There are also painted nude pictures on the wall, which adds to that "drinking in the basement" feeling.

The first time I went to Mai Tai Lounge, if I hadn't known better I could have sworn I was in the luxurious captain's quarters of a pirate's ship.

Random semi-nude paintings hang on the wall, antiquated decor and light fixtures, all accented with a thick haze of smoke...  Since then the smoking ban has gone into effect, and everything in Mai Tai Lounge is much more visible, which kind of ruins the pirate ship feel.  But the drinks are awesome.  That's why people come back over and over.

I've never eaten the food from Mt Fuji (upstairs), and I don't plan on it based on the reviews... but I'm getting the craving for a mai tai right now.  The prices are moderate but absolutely worth it.

Their website is awesome too.  If nothing else, check that out.  The icons and descriptions are priceless.  <a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Fmtfujiinn.com%2Fcocktails%2FCocktails.htm&s=f2f16b9c11290769579fca6880c6a7218ce97ded5c0828ea6a6678a51ce968fa" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://mtfujiinn.com/coc…</a>

hee...hee... Mai Tai is hidden underneath a chinese restaurant called Mt. Fuji.  Drinks run about 5 or 6 bucks and there is a LIMIT of two drinks per person.  They obviously serve Mai Tai's, but the Zombie is good as well.  There is also a drink that they light on fire.  This drink sucks, but I order it anyways just bc they light it on fire.

As far as ambiance, the lounge is dark the decor is wonderfully tacky.  There is a fish tank built into the wall and velvet paintings of half naked asian women.

Probably not the type of place that would become anybody's regular hangout, but its fun to go a few times a year.

A few things to know though, the place is small and can fill up quick.  Also, it's hard to get phone reception there.  And I believe they are only open friday and saturday (call to double check though bc i'm not sure).
