We visit Main Tap nearly once a month for several years now. You don't go there for the food- you go there for the Interesting and Ever-Changing Beer Selection. Hard to find a place that gives you tasters of non-house beer- and they will do that (for a fee-and it's worth it). The bartender styles vary- and not all are service oriented- however I've never been treated rudely.
That being said, our Main Tap friends also need to remember that the competition for good beer selection in East County is increasing so they might want to invest in having awesome service to match their great brew choices.
BTW- the Dragon Tattoo cook makes some really good fish tacos.
P.S. if Main Tap would offer Chocolate Stout Cheesecake on the menu, I would visit more often :)
I'm a semi regular here and i've had a great experience every time. The beers are varied and they mix it up regularly. the five stars are because this has been the only place i have been able to find the elusive 120 minute IPA from dogfish head, and they have it every year. i've been looking for four years for this beer. the food is also phenomenal and is really varied, not just typical bar food. the bartenders are always great for conversation and are really good about helping my wife pick out her beer, since she is not quite the beer connoisseur i am. patrons are friendly and except for the weird placement of the pool table super close to the bar this place is a great spot to get some good food and beer.
Review Source:I would normally say 4 stars solely for the beer selection, 24 beers on tap all the time, plus a great variety of bottled beers as well. I usually don't eat food there, and if I do it has been some appetizers mostly while we are having beers and playing some pool. The other day we went in though and I decided to try a burger for the first time in a long time, got the "workman pb burger' which is basically meat, bacon, cheese, lettuce, tomato, and some jiffy peanut butter. The way the bun was toasted with the peanut butter on it really made the peanut butter flavor something comepletely different, and amazing, I will now definitely think twice about going somewhere else for food after the bar, for 9 bucks that food was definitely worth it, and having 24+ beers to choose from while I enjoy my food only adds to the good experience. Plus just to add, east county doesn't have the greatest bars for me, usually packed with bros and shady looking people, main tap I feel really is one of the best bars I've been to anywhere in east county, I stay away on UFC nights for a reason though
Review Source:My friends and I had just finished hiking up in Julian and wanted to grab a beer and some grub somewhere along the way back so I used yelp to find a good bar we could try. Yelp reviews gave this place 4 stars so we gave it a shot, but it was a big miss for me.
The beer selection was definitely interesting with a good variety. I tried fruitcake beer for the first time which was unique, but the food and service was completely underwhelming. One of my friends had a crack in his beer glass. You order everything at the bar. 9 bucks for a tiny, overcooked burger, overly seasoned fries, and little to no service. The food took ages and the appetizers arrived well after our entrees. I don't recommend coming here for the overpriced and lackluster food, but it's ok for the beer I suppose.
I love this place! It's close to my cousins now house, it's fairly clean, has a decent diverse crowd, OK events weekly, and some deals, the drinks are good and the staff is...well just mediocre. I do like the pool tables though. All in all it's a decent place to hang out with some friends and get some drinks, but nothing special.
Review Source:Love this bar! Â Big, sprawling layout with windows that open out onto the street for people watching, and a spacious back patio, too. Â The beer selection is amazing, with something to please the most discerning palate. Â And the food, wow! Â Ate there last night and had the MOST DELICIOUS Ruben in my life with seasoned fries that were out of this world. Â Listen, if you like good food and great beer in a really nice environment, this is the place. Â Kudos to the craft beer jewel of the entire East County!
Review Source:OK, they deserve their 4-star review now. Now that I drink beer I can appreciate how awesome their beer selection is and how knowledgeable the staff is. We enjoyed the San Diego Beer Week Greenflash flight and my curry coconut stout was out of this world. We ordered fish and chips this time around and they were good for the price, but would be even been on Sundays when they are only $6.
Oh, and their beer prices aren't high at all. I'm not sure where other people are drinking craft beer, but $5-$6 seems pretty damn reasonable to me!
We'll keep visiting for sure.
Not a fan. This is the quintessential east county bar with all the short comings. Â Despite having a promising name like main tap tavern it has an unfortunate lack of GOOD beer, with a top shelf of blue moon. Â The rectangular bar acts like a wind tunnel of ear shattering unpleasantness. Â From the band that would probably be good if it wasn't for the physical pain they cause. Â I'm not impressed, you won't be ether.
Review Source:Been back here a couple more times with my buddy that lives over in El Cajon. Place is growing on me. Tryed some more of their menu items and it is hit and miss.
Got their jalapeno bacon burger , bacon, cream cheese, topped with fresh jalapenos lettuce, tomato onion , and side of fries for $9.( http://www.yelp.com/biz_… ) Good combination of flavors on this burger the salty bacon, spicy jalapenos, and the cool down on cream cheese, well done.Crispy hand cut fries.
On Saturdays they have a 5 buck meatball sandwich. ( http://www.yelp.com/biz_… ) Not bad the meatballs seemed to be house made and so much cheese on top you can barely see the roll. Not that great of a sandwich, dry needs more sauce.
They also have happy hour now , which includes appetizers for around $4.50 and buck off pints.
If you enjoy cask beer they tap a new one every Wednesday. I had the ballast point sea monster one 10%, pretty good but , smell it directly you might pass out!
Another cool thing here is the Tavern VIP passport.( http://www.yelp.com/biz_…) It's a card they give you ,every time you drink a different beer , you add it to the card. After you drink 10 beers you get 2 bucks off a beer, 20 you get a free appetizer, if you drink 50 you get a t shirt you name on the wall and every Sunday all their beers are only $3.50 for VIPs! Nice It's going to take me a while to hit 50?!!
Good selection of beers here but the beers average from 5 % to 10%, mostly IPA's, few ale's, etc. Their beer line up changes weekly and they have the UFC but charge a $5 cover.
My buddy was telling me that the there are two owners now and it seemed to make a difference since last time I was here. Not really sure if that's true but seemed like it's change for the better!
At least go so you can hang out with the Beer Rabbit!!!!( http://www.yelp.com/biz_… )
A year ago, I would have given this place at least 4 stars, but that was before it closed and reopened. It used to have a great staff, excellent ever changing beer selection, fun karaoke nights and a decent outside area.
Now the service is absolutely terrible and the beer selection doesn't rotate like it used to and there is more "white trash" beer than before. It is more expensive and now is just another mediocre east county bar. I am only giving it three stars because I remember how good it used to be.
I went here for the firs time last night (6/16/12). There was a reggae(?) band playing in the corner so the atmosphere was loud. Not complaining.
The bar was full, the guests were friendly but kept to their own parties. Not a big mix of people. I'd say upper 20s to 40s casual crowd that just comes to take the edge off after a hard week.
I went with my best friend. Neither of us sampled any beers, we are hard liquor gals. Bartenders were both cute and funny. Decent drinks- not too strong to where the drinks tasted bad, but not completely watered/mixed down to where there was hardly any booze.
Decent prices too. I'll take a 6 or 7 dollar margarita and no cover in El Cajon over anything downtown SD.
We also tried the fries. I should have listened to him when he said they were already salty when I requested the salt shaker... Boy, salty and peppery! Nearly 24 hours later I feel like this constant heart burn is directly related to those fries. But they were SO GOOD.
We sat outside, by the fire pit for most of the night. It's big enough so that two different groups can mingle around it. There are two pool tables inside. Makes it hard to play since they are in the middle of the walkway.
We left around midnight. I'm curious to see the environment when a band is not performing live. I will definitely be back. Especially because I can walk home from the bar! Score!
Best variety of micro-brews in East County. They even serve a cask or two. I'm a chef, and I can tell an ego driven cook who will never learn is slingin hash here, so order something small before you go hog wild, and see if you get your order in a timely fashion, and how it's prepared (a lot of small kitchen's food relies on who's cooking that day) that said, if you don't mind paying $5 a pint its a neat place to try a vast variety of suds. Nice people, and very, very informed bartenders/bar ladies. Kind of classy.
Review Source:WOW! I'll say 4 1/2 stars. The only reason i'm not going for 5 is because it was kinda pricey for drinks and some food.
They have a nice patio area with heaters out there too. The music still reaches you out there but it's low enough to still hear it. Also a plus is there bathrooms were clean (it was around 10 pm though,,,lol). We had a really awesome bartender. I didn't catch her name but she was really nice and knew her stuff. I was not sure which beer (a lot of local brews) to get so she asked me what i liked in a beer and this and that. Then she brings me a few samples! I picked out my fav and ordered some fries and hot wings. Both item were great but not the sizes. The fries were enough to share with 1 or two other people, but the wings were like 4 i believe. The food was good though!
The other great thing is that there is a 7-11 next door and ample parking in the back.
There's not much room for dancing. They also have 2 pool tables.
My bf and I came here to watch a UFC fight. Â It was a cable fight so there wasn't any entrance fee. Â We sat at the bar and watched the fight. Â There was an older blonde woman bartender and a Middle-Eastern looking man too. Â I think one or both were owners, I couldn't tell, but their customer service was horrible. Â The Middle-Eastern looking man then sat at the bar with other customers, I assume friends, and watched the fight and downed some beers. Â It took forever to get a drink. Â We were trying forever to get eye-contact with the older blonde woman, but she didn't give a hoot if we stayed or left. Â There were about less than 20 people in this bar and service was horrible. Â This was my first time here and the burger sucked and customer service sucked. Â Never again I say!
Review Source:first and foremost come and TRY THE BEER YOU WONT BE DISAPOINTED!
Great selection of Different beers if you want to try something different, I'm not saying I like all of them but they are good, cool place to come and see a fight only 5 dollar cover for it,if you are into that.Games as well, the Barbacks are friendly if they like you otherwise order and drink and leave them alone as so they can attend the person willing to fork over the most ammount of cash or flirt with,I dont have a problem with this as long as i get my beer or drink. The manager is always there and friendly and smiling without fail.
I have a little bit of a mixed review for this place... I love the beer selection and the atmosphere, but I feel some of the bartenders there are a little bit snobby when I try to order what I like. Excuse me, I can drink whatever the hell I want and you cant tell me what to order, let alone, completely deny my request and pour me a more expensive beer then charge me for it!
I have been there a few times and enough to experience different bar tenders, and I'm sorry, but they all seem to act the same way. Not cool with me.
First impressions were negative, but after a new bartendar came in (used to be manager at Daily Grinds) it really picked up. Â Good selection of beers on draft, limited menu. Â Outside patio, but apparently not dog friendly (negative). Â Several flat screen TVs. Â
We did order chicken wings - not something I'd rave about or go back for. Â Pretty mediocre. Â
Again, we were not acknowledged by the bartendar (we sat at the bar) for greater than 10 to 15 minutes - were about to leave, when I finally saw her turn around and I actually had to raise my arm and wave at her......really???
Wow a lot has changed since things have been revamped. Dad's only request for Father's Day this year was to go drink some brew at his favorite bar, so we did. I've never been here on a Sunday and man was it interesting. $3 bloody marys and mimosas. Needless to say mom and dad got a little inebriated with there friends. The food has definitely changed for the better. The nachos are way better and not all runny with beans as before. I plit the fish & chips with my mom along with their veggie wrap. That thing was absolutely amazing being a vegetarian and assuming there would be barely anything I could eat based off the old menu.
This place was among the top of my bars beofre for the El Cajon area and it's good to see changes to make it even better.
I liked Main Tap better before. Â The new ownership now makes the place feel different; not in a bad way, but just not like home. Â
Full liquor bar now. Â Also now serving Budweiser products on tap. Â Take that for what you will. Â To me, it doesn't feel like a "beer enthusiast" bar anymore. Â
The place is very clean, and they replaced the poster of Johnny Cash (in the bathroom) with one of the Beatles. Â
I will probably give it a few more chances as a stand-by, but stick with my neighborhood favorite (this place is out of the way for me).
So its getting Hot .. and if you live in the Deep EC as I do, its hotter! My house is over 100 years old with NO A/C, its lame! So when someone calls and says drinks? Main Tap? My thoughts automatically go to my favorite beer there and to thoughts of there A/C.. so I take up the offer and set out ...
As I walk in it was wonderful to feel the cool air, cuz it ain't no kindsa fun when its 5pm & 100 outside! Then I see my friend with beer already waiting for me , yay! I take a seat at the bar, and to my surprise I hear " Hey Gorgeous, why are you in my bar?" and I'm beyond stoked now, cuz my old friend is now the bar manager!
So the first few beers were drank indoors, once it got to a cool 85 outside , we ventured outdoors, where the debauchery than began. I swayer, I only go in there with the intention to have 2 beers max, and every time I leave , well its gone far past 2 beers :)
The staff at the bar are always so nice, personable and go out of there way to make sure your all good. I'm not just saying this cuz my friend now runs the joint, him aside.. the other bartenders and servers are just good people. That is a rare thing in bar world these days! So super mad props to the owners for having awesome employees!
So since writing my previous review, I have spent enough time at Main tap for the bartenders to remember me. - this might be because I'm short loud and have a tendency to be schmamered when I leave there.
I always go there for a brew or 2 before a movie, then go "lets just stay here and get drunk"
Their selection of beers is amazing, and the service is phenomenal. We went there one night and it ended up being karaoke night. After my own personal rendition of Salt and Pepper- and it is None of your business- the crowd cheered and my ego grew and exploded into my delicious beer.
Bottom line: If I wasn't trying to deny to myself that I might have a slight drinking problem, I would be at main tap every night.
What do you get when you combine Karoke, Pool, Fire Pit and booze?
A good time that's what you get.
Been coming here since it opened and it is just an laid back fun place. You will find every kind of person at this bar from the old man who smokes 2 packs a day and drinks like a sailor to the typical east county girl with her tits hanging out and skirt too short to the house wife who just needed a break from the kids...
Drinks are good and decently priced, many different types of beer on tap, and the staff is always uber friendly. I thoroughly enjoy coming here and will continue to do so until they make me stop!
I'm so glad this place is within walking distance. Â It truly is an oasis in the ghetto. Â They have 24 craft beers on tap and a bunch more in bottles, and the taps are cycled quite well. Â I LOVE a good IPA and they always have several. Â It's clean and have a very cool place out back. Â I spend my time inside though. Â
Yelp is interesting in that there is no editing obviously and some people don't mind slander. Â So, I'll admit some of this review, especially when it comes to people that work there, is somewhat of a reaction to the mean spirited slander I've read here. Â It's not meant to even things up, just give my honest opinion.
I have my favorite bartenders, but admittedly, I don't drink mixed drinks, save one. Â I either drink beer or the straight stuff. Â I don't fruit the booze. Â So I can't honestly comment on any bartender's ability to mix drinks either here, or in any bar. Â So far, they all make a good bloody, and that is my only mixed drink indulgence.
So having said that, I'll say that when I first started going there, I did have to wait longer than I thought reasonable for a beer, but I haven't seen that for quite some time. Â The bartenders I see there, Bob, Danielle, Ashley, and Mari, are very attentive and friendly. Â Danielle and Bob are especially knowledgeable about beer and it's great to talk to them about that. Â My beer glass is seldom empty before I've ordered my next. Â Mari is a little ray of sunshine. Â I've never seen her in a bad mood and she seems to constantly smile. Â She is extremely attentive, and always improves my mood.
Karaoke is some of the better karaoke I've seen. Â The KJ is fun and doesn't dominate by singing every other song. Â He has a great selection if you're into that. Â I often stop by with my sister after band practice on Tuesdays and belt a couple out.
I love the food too. Â The potato salad is awesome. Â The burgers are some of my favorite burgers around. Â The only think that keeps me at four stars instead of five is that I just can't figure out the kitchen hours. Â I've been in there parched and the kitchen was closed. Â I've been in there other times when I assumed the kitchen would be long closed and cold, and food is rolling out. Â So, if I could figure that one out...add another star.
Main Tap has some of the best fresh made fries our hero has ever had. Â These aren't like In N Out's fries either; they are made with quality spuds deep fried with the skin on and come out warm and crispy. Â Judging by their tavern burger (which has a nice blend of spices rolled right into the patty) and their fries, this place has some pretty bangin' bar food.
This is really an oddity in El Cajon. Â It's an extremely clean bar that serves mainly kick ass Californian craft beers from breweries like Karl Strauss, Lagunitas, Lightning, and Lost Cost. Â They also serve Bud and Bud Light on tap if none of that means anything to you. Â At $5.25 for four 4 oz. tasters of any of their beers, it sure beats going to most beer festivals. Â Beers are pretty reasonably priced and they have specials every day of the week and a super awesome weekday lunch deal on burgers as well. Â When our hero went, they had a few strong barley wines specially priced at $3 a pour!
A few of the other reviewers have whined about service here, but in our hero's experience, Andy was a very helpful bartender and food came out fairly fast after ordering. Â Can't complain much about the bartenders or kitchen, and the rest of the bar crowd mainly keeps to themselves.
Why must you be in El Cajon, Main Tap? Â If our hero lived any closer, he'd probably work this bar into his regular rotation.
PROS:
- Excellent burger and fries.
- Plenty of street parking outside.
- Great selection of local microbrew beers.
CONS:
- Located way out in east county.
- The "girls of the month" printed on their menu look like Suicide Girls bench warmers. Â Ick.
Keep in mind that I am not a beer or even a bar fan for the most part, but our evening at Main Tap was great fun.
This place is laid out really well, utilizing the space perfectly with a good-sized outside patio (with a huge fabulous fire pit to gather 'round), plenty of tables and chairs everywhere, a pool table, a long bar and plenty of room for a band at the far end from the entrance. Â
Behind the bar the beer taps look like artwork, each a different blown glass sculpture with backlights that make them glow. I can imagine those "main taps" being mesmerizing to a drunk person! There was a huge selection of beers from which to choose, including a ton of microbrews I had no idea how to choose from.
The bartender was a super-cute redhead (which I am partial to, as a redhead myself) who was patient with my n00b skillz ordering and then asked how my beer was within seconds of taking my first sip.
When I made a fucchi face and said it was kind of bitter (my fault for not knowing what to order), she smiled and poured me another pint of a different beer, then suggested I try that instead. I liked the second beer much more, and asked how much we owed her for it, but she insisted that we take both beers and "share" the first one with our friends. We tipped her and walked away happily.
The servers who came by to clear our collection of empty glasses were friendly, the food looked damn good (but we had already eaten) and the band was covering some good music all evening.
While I certainly don't go to bars often, Main Tap definitely isn't a dive or a meat market like the bars we usually end up in downtown. If we didn't live 25 minutes away, I would be down with coming to Main Tap on the regular for a pint.
Keep your eyes peeled for the cute redheaded bartender!
I would give this place 1 star if the food wasn't so good and cheap. The cooks are 4 stars. They also have good bear. But they have the worst bartenders.
Ever meet somebody where their personality is like a cheese grater. Well one bartender here is slowly grating away at my soul. The only way he could get a job here is if he is related to the owner.
First encounter
HIm: What would you like to drink?
Me: A Bud Light and a burger
Him: Eww a Bud light really
Me:Yeah (Can I just have my beer dick Ive had a long day and this is east country its what 90%of the people drink out here)
Second encounter
(Burger and beer come. Ketchup bottle is half full make twww noise)
HIm:Would you like more ketchup?
Me: No its fine i have more then enough.
HIm: Would you say that bottle is half empty or half full?
Me: hahaha(fake laught....plz go away your ruining my meal)
This is what kill me worst then his jokes. He goes out side to wash the widows. 5 customers walk though the front door. He contuines to wash the windows. He's the only bartender. He makes them wait till hes finished
These reviews kill me the most. I want to like this place. I want to see them do well. But the service really kill me every time i go there. I wont be back until the servers change.
After my third visit to Main Tap I decided I was able to write the review I really wanted to write for this place. The first time I came here we ordered a fish and chip dish to share. I believe it took close to 45 minutes to get it and I could see the other couple near us were just about in the same boat. The fish was pretty good though, hot and crispy. They have at least 20 beers on tap, mostly local. The taps are made out of this awesome blown glass, it makes me feel like I am in an art gallery.
However, this last visit really topped it off for me. We went to grab the lunch special, Burger & a Brew. With the purchase of a glass of beer you get a burger and fries or potato salad for $3. I was expecting a small burger and a handful of fries. Then I see this huge burger come out resting on a bed of fries..all of this to go with my Alpine Mandarin Nectar beer..YUM! The fries are out of this world!! Seasoned with pepper, I ate every single one! Two beers and two burgers for about $17, not bad at all!
They also have a nice outdoor seating area and some pool tables. This is my home away from home bar for sure!
It's a bar. Nothing special. I've only been here a few times but had an okay time when I was there. Â For El Cajon, it's probably the best that it gets! So if you have some visitors from the beach area or whatever, don't take them to KC's or one of those other "bro" bars...take them here and get 'em trashed! Do yourself a favor...get there early and take over the jukebox before anyone else does...
Pros: LOTS of beer. Great micro brew selection. Live bands. Smoke area out back with chairs and tables. Firepit. Knowledgable staff.
Cons: Drunks. Not enough pool tables. Jukebox being taken over by Disturbed/Nickelback/Kid Rock fans.
What a great place!
The neighborhood is a bit schetchy, but once you walk inside this little tavern it's a whole different feel!
The people are cool and chill. The bartenders are great as well! allways keeping your glass full! and they are knowledgable about the beers they have on tap!
Speaking of beer, the selection they have is not as ordinary as most bars. They do have the bud light, and blue moon, but they also have many other selections that I have never heard of! It's a fun place to meet new people and try new beers!
There are also 2 pool tables and an outdoor seating area.
Through the entire week they have kareoke, drink specials and happy hours! Deff worth stopping into! I would like to go back on a weekend to see what kind of crowd roams here, as I was there on a tuesday night.
I did not eat any of the food, however just browsing the menu I am drawn to come back as the food is incredibly cheep! 4-6 bucks! can't go wrong there in this economy!
So, it's a pub. Â On Main Street. Â Downtown.
It wasn't immediately a place I thought, "Oooo! Â Let's grab a drink THERE", but got a random call to meet a friend there on a Friday night.
I parked illegally, in a lot adjacent to the front door, as it was terribly confusing to find the main parking for the restaurant (if street parking is taken up, you gotta initiate the wild goose chase for something legitimate*). Â But the booming of a live band, playing right inside the door, made me forget my parking woes and tread zombie-esque toward the music. Â
I adore that I was carded.
The lineup of beers on tap is not only impressive, but eye-catching, as each handle is lit up with a design that woo's the passive patron. Â You get quite dazzled (read: confused) on which beer to order, because you secretly just want the bartender to grab your favorite colored handle and pour.
And while that isn't the WORST way to choose your poison, I HIGHLY recommend the Pilsner.
We popped in for lunch a couple of weeks later, and for $2 (yes, you read it right), they added the most incredible burger to my noon beer (don't judge), and one of the regulars gave us a 20 minute, unsolicited run-down of their menu, with colorful commentary and item-by-item pricing. Â It was more information than I cared to know, so I ordered a 12:15 beer and called it good.
Surely I'll end up there again soon, staring at the shiny taps and deliberating which exotic import ale (try the Blueberry!!!) to add to my VIP beer passport (you know the kind).
*Turn onto Roanoke, and look for the humble little sign*
Dear Jebus,
Please let me come to the Main Tap at least once a week. Let the many beer choices satisfy my soul. Bless me with good food and friendly service. And may this all be close to my home.
Amen. Yea God!
~~~~~
Oh, shit! it's my new favorite bar! Taps for miles (24 by my count), many more in bottles. A full bar plus a killer menu. Don't let me gush too much but man we had a good time here. The bartender was awesome and friendly. A totally cool crowd too. Food was simple and tasty. Two pool tables and one foosball, jukebox, big patio. Fuck yeah, El Cajon finally has a great hang out spot!!
Tucked away near the corner of Main Street and Avocado, nestled between Valley Music and the arabic market in the heart of El Cajon, Main Tap Tavern has it all. Â
Awoken on a hung over Sunday morning, I drug my ass to church to repent of my sins from the previous night then headed over to the tap for some hair of the dog and Charger action. Â I didn't know what to expect, but my buddies swore it would be worth our while.
I was the first to arrive and was immediately capitaved by the wall of beers to choose from and the inviting atmosphere. Â The decor is modern, and there is no wall in the back, it just opens out into a sweet patio complete with a fire pit and a bbq which was serving up complimentary hot dogs to its patrons. Â
The second I got there I was invited to sit down with a group of boys while i waited for my party arrived. Â Turns out they were all workers there and started giving me insider tips. Â Sunday has $2 mimosa's and bloody marys...can't beat that. Â
So as the day progressed the place filled out and I got hungry. Â The chicken strips melted in my mouth. Â It smelled and tasted like crack. Â I couldn't believe how good they were. Â All the food is outstanding.
After the game, my buddies and I decided, heck why not lets stay...Sure, I had to beat off the line of male suitors ranging from 21-81, got asked to dance, had my palm read, was given 3 phone numbers, a 10 dollar bill to fill the jute box, a lesbian request, Â a tour of the kitchen, cornered by two brothers "dammmmnnn", and managed to wash down at least twenty drinks by 9 o clock (had been there since 1pm)...but I was able to walk out with a whoppping bill of 20.00, a smile on my face and ready to rage...
I will be a proud "regular" and would be honored to achieve this status.
Main Tap Tavern, I welcome you into my heart.
3.5 stars. Today I visited Main Tap Tavern for the second time. I'll start with saying the second trip was much better than the first. Great service, good food and an amazing beer selection. I feel safe saying they probably have the best draft selection in the immediate East County area. If you know Kat Daddy's, then you will quickly realize that this place was sprinkled by a ton of fairy dust and transformed into a respectable establishment, rather than the dump that formerly existed at this current location.
As for my first visit, some co-workers and I visited for lunch and were served extremely slow and then given the wrong orders as we walked out the door. I could elaborate, but I don't care too. Try this place for yourself. A great place for unique beer in the East County.
