Margarita's Bar

I'm giving this place 3 stars for effort.  I went here on a Saturday night and it was salsa night.  One big NEGATIVE, $5 cover.  Forreal?  Why?  First....location sucks.  Across the street from a furniture store and you charge $5?  You should pay people to come in!  Granted, parking was awesome.  Although as a disclaimer, I'm not from Iowa.  I'm used to whirling around city blocks, where your options are paying for parking in a parking garage, paying for valet, getting your car scratched/dinged by those that can't drive, or/and ending up with a parking ticket.  This place has a huge parking lot free of charge!  Place is spacious...or maybe empty.  Either way, there was room to breath, sit, chill, and people watch.  We had a server, and she would make her rounds.  The music was mediocre.  But for Iowa....maybe it's good?  One big plus, they served food!  We probably ordered it passed 11pm, close to 12am?  We got the nachos with chicken, ceviche, and a tostada.  I think you can pass on the tostada because its basically a flat corn shell with ceviche on it.  Order the ceviche, you get a crap load, and it comes with the same flat corn shells!  The nachos were good.  I liked the cheese, it wasn't your ordinary nacho cheese or cheddar.  I don't really like chicken with my nachos but it was good with these nachos.  If it weren't for the food, I would have probably given this place 2 stars (for effort).  I think I'm being very easy on this review considering its Iowa.  If I were in NYC or San Francisco, I'd probably give this place 1 star, but it's Iowa. LOL!!!  One last thought...bathrooms are clean...although maybe because of the lack of patronage to this place? LOL

Really nothing special at all about this place. Just a regular bar/club. There's a dance floor and a VIP area. It's a pretty big space though. I don't see going out of your way to come down to this place. What really annoys me most about this place is the bar tenders.

I swear it takes like 15 minutes to order a drink. They all seem to not want a tip there. I've been to many bars and if I have a cash or a card in my hand they're get to me as soon as they can. I know some of them tend to their friends before helping anyone which right there isn't fair at all. They're all in their own world, they would talk to each other and never look up and make eye contact with you when they ask what you would like. Skip this place.
