Maria's Mexican Restaurant

In the ever growing area of Rosemont, this spot is kinda in the corner of it all. From the outside it looks pretty plain, and the parking  is way to small. Once inside its pretty dark lit with candels to give a nice romatic feel by the bar. The dining area is very closely put together, you might  nudge another table if you turn around. I tried to get a margarita at the bar which was pretty hard because there were only 2 bartenders and the bar was packed, because people sit at the bar and eat. Finally i got a lime margarita which was pretty strong and good. I got the enchiladas verdes with chicken which was pretty bland allthough the portions were very generous. For a place in this area I expected better flavors, this is plain typical mexican food you can get anywhere(TBK is better).  I will have to come back and try more things off the menu. This place gets REALLY packed and you should make reservations, but its proximity to rosemont area is the only positive.

This is my new favorite dine in Mexican restaurant. We loved our food and service. We started out with the fabulous salsa and chips that was brought to our table as soon as we sat down. After ordering drinks and appetizers we settled in to look over the reasonably priced entrees and decided on the Carne Asada which is a char broiled skirt steak with pico de gallo and quacamole and a Carne Azteca which is a char broiled rib-eye smothered in a wonderful spicy chipolte pepper sauce. Now I never put anything on my rib-eye except salt,pepper and maybe butter but this pepper sauce was great and not hot like the menu states. The skirt steak was huge...over a foot long and wonderful but I'm ahead of my self here. The appetizers were the Coctel de Camarones (Mexican shrimp cocktail) slightly sweet, filled with big shrimp with cilantro, quacamole, red onions in a red sauce and the shrimp Ceviche. Both tasted great and we could have stopped eating right there, the portions were big. The steak entrees were really good and worth the trip.
The only down side was we sat to close to the noisy kitchen but the place was packed. We like to sit in the bar area and next time we'll do that. The bar area is huge and lined with booths on one side and the huge bar on the other side.
Complimentary valet parking. There were several huge parties of 8 or 10 at a table so they can accommodate however many you have in your party.

The food here is mediocre at best and the service ranged from inattentive to downright bizarre. Our server disappeared for a good 30 minutes and at one point a busser got out a vacuum and started vacuuming the dining room floor - gross! The only thing redeeming were the great chips.
