I've been in several times over the years. This is a great location for Friday night get togethers, watching sports, or just a meal. As for the food, the Ahi Tuna appetizer is very good, I just hate that's it's not 3x its size. The kettle chips are wonderful, crispy and cheesy, what more could you want. During the summer, they serve a Stella and Cheese soup, which is undeniable. This past Saturday night, I tried the cheeseburger paired with parmesan fries. It was cooked well. Though for burgers, Bocado is hands down unbeatable, but Marlowe's does a good job.
Review Source:My wife adores the potato chips, on our first visit a chef came out and gave us a free serving of them and she was hooked. I really like the steak, it is a good size and always very tasty.
But the noise has become unbearable and at the Cumberland location the parking is a miserable experience.
I am still rating this as a 4 out of 5 star restaurant and if the noise and parking do not turn you off, enjoy the food.
Visiting family in Vinings from out of town. Great patio with TV's which was clutch. Wings were good. Noise from highway can be a bit distracting outside. The interior decor was very much nicer than i expected. Nice neighborhood dinner and drinks kind of place. If you want a little quieter place to watch a game on a nice day this is your spot.
Review Source:I've only been here once, but the food was great. Â What really stood out to me was the variety of sides and amazing appetizers. Â Its not something you see every day and I can't wait to go back and try a few other appetizers.
My co-worker had the veggie patty and it looked so good, I wanted to trade him my chicken sandwich.
I had some sort of cheese grit side and it was so good. Â Just a little too small.
Marlow's Tavern in Vinnings is a excelllent place for lunch. The wait time for a table was not long and the parking situation was fair.
I enjoyed a "stuffed" turkey burger made with organic ground turkey and "hand cut"  french fries. It was only $10 !!! The food took a little longer than I expected to come to my table, but hey the food was good and  worth the wait.
I heard good things about this place, but I was disappointed when I went. I went with a group of people.
They didn't know how to properly accommodate a large crowd. Service was slow and waitress wasn't friendly and attentive. They got some of our orders wrong.
I ordered a medium well burger and it was rare to medium-rare. I think they gave me my friend's burger because she wanted medium rare and she got well done. They ended up taking my burger back and brought it out pretty much burned. I didn't eat it and I didn't bother asking for another burger. I went ahead and paid for it but I will never go there again.
If I could give this place a 3.5, I would. I liked it overall. Just that I'm not a big bar fan cause I don't drink but I do like that it's clean and the staff is nice. I went with a group of 10 with co-workers which we had reservations. I ordered the chicken panini and liked it a lot. The corn jalepeno is really good too.
By 8 pm, it started to get crowded, there were so many people waiting for tables. It was really loud and I hardly heard any conversations.
It's not a bad experience but I just didn't love or hate it but definitely better than mediocre.
I feel like a sudden dissenting voice on Marlow's Tavern... but I truly wasn't all that impressed. Â :-/
My rolling eyes began in the parking lot...
Do you know where valet parking makes sense? Â In dense, urban areas where nearby parking is scarce and/or adds some time hunting for spots in a garage and walking to your destination. Â It also makes sense in true upscale establishments where people are dressed up and don't want to exit their Maseratis/Jaguars/Mercedes, in gowns and suits, to walk across huge lots or garages.
Do you know where valet parking does NOT make sense? Â In a strip center (complete with a dry cleaners, barber, and nail salon) with a HUGE parking lot that is only bogged down because you've got your stupid valet cones in front of most of the spots!
This place has valet for people who want to feel special or pretend it's a much more upscale establishment than it is... but the fact remains that the farthest a valet attendant goes to park your car is within eyesight in a giant lot right in front of the restaurant located in a strip center! Â I don't feel special... I just feel annoyed and/or nickel-and-dimed for an extra couple bucks I'm expected to throw at this waste of space endeavor.
Let me also ask this: Anyone EVER returned to ANY restaurant purely because they had valet? Â Didn't think so...... DUMP THE VALET Marlow's!
Now that's off my chest...
I also felt slightly deceived by the notion this place is a "tavern." Â You know... the second word in their two-name title? Â This is a restaurant; period. Â There is nothing taverny (yeah, you're gonna use that word now) about it. Â Just as it relates to drinks, they have FOUR beers on draught and a mediocre bottle selection The wine spread is a tad better, but there's a hefty premium on every single glass/bottle listed. Â Liquor isn't much better, either, unless you love to overpay for whisky (the only liquor they seem to really have any sort of choices on).
Silly me, I also went for some taverny (catchy yet?) food with my order of a burger and fries... but it cam overcooked and far tinier than its price tag would suggest!
The WINS here are the atmosphere (relaxed, warm ambiance, and great decor) and service (I got nothing but friendly, timely attention by everyone I came in contact with)... which is what helps me bump this place up to a 3-star spot.
All in all...... I guess just know what you're getting into. Â This is a restaurant that's trying (too hard) to a be a slightly upscale Ameri-grille in a semi-posh area. Â I see potential... but hard to make this a regular spot despite my love for what the Vinings area usually has to offer.
I don't mind paying a good premium for my food and drinks... but I've got to feel like I'm getting what I'm paying for...... and here, I feel like I'm just supposed to be paying extra for the opportunity to say I paid a lot and used valet...
Marlow's Tavern has been my " neighborhood go to" place for a couple years.  It is that kind of place where you can go when you want to go out to eat or have a drink but have no idea where to go.  I have been to two other Marlow's (the one in Midtown and the one in Norcross) and must say that the Marlow's on Vinnings/Smyrna  is probably the best one.  The atmosphere is so much more calming and inviting than the one in Midtown,
My sister and I have been going here so long, we have seen one of the servers move up to manager. Â Another thing I like about this place. Â They promote from within. Â
Sometimes in the summer they have a band or a musician playing which adds to the appeal.
All being said, the food is what makes me come back to this place time and time again. Â It is always good. Â Well usually. Â They have been over salting a little bit lately, so hopefully they will fix that. Â Don't they know excess salt leads to heart disease? Â
The fish tacos are some of the best around so try those.
The meatloaf, was surprisingly really good. It has a  strange look to it but once I dug in, it was actually pretty tasty.  I would suggest asking the server to make sure that it is really hot.  I don't think it would have tasted as good if it were luke warm.
The french dip is OK. Â I can't remember it all that well. Â I just remember thinking that it did not stand out to me that much.
Shrimp and Grits. These have been hit or miss. With this popular dish being offered in so many places, I can't say that these really stand out all that much.
Fried Okra are a great little snack they are not too heavy but with a hint of salt. Â
Grit cake. Â I really like the grit cakes and always have. Â My sister ordered some not to long ago and they were over salted a bit. So I say again, I really hope they fix that.
OK so I have tried a lot of things on their menu and can't really complain about the food so I won't. Â It is overall good and worth make the trip out.
Don't waste your time on the desserts here. I have tried and tried but have yet to order a good dessert. Â They got the food thing so just leave and go to a little dessert shop near by.
I'm in love with this place!
Both times that I came I had the shrimp and grits and split a burger.
The burgers were seasoned really well and all of the extra trimmings added depth to the flavor of the blue burger, I'm not a huge fan of the fries though.
On to the Shrimp and Grits!!!! The grits were in a patty form that was put on the griddle to give it extra crispness (MMMMmmm) and what ever type of cream/tomato sauce the shrimp comes in is phenomenal. Â
This will be my go to spot from now on since its in my neighborhood!
This place is small and cozy that is created by its warm atmosphere and design. The food menu has quite the variety from sandwiches, wraps and exceptional dinner plates.
I had the buffalo chicken wrap which was good with a cream of corn lobster chowder which was amazing.
Service was also exceptional with attentive waiters and a to go box where the waiter wrote the name of the meal and also the date, which can be very helpful for leftovers in the fridge.
While I probably didn't pick the best item to eat at this location, their daily specials and attention to detail makes this place exceptional.
With so much to offer in the Cumberland, Smyrna, Vinings area this place just isn't up to par. Â Apart from some of the items on the menu I find too much to be desired to come back. Â Burgers are okay, jalapeno cheese grits are okay, just too much "okay" for me to return. Â I also have a horrible time stomaching the Fried Calimari here it was rather chewy and had a deep purple tint to it. Â Not returning....the one on West Peachtree is definitely a better location.
Review Source:Delicious burgers, delicious burgers, delicious burgers. Â Very cozy inside. Â Compact. Â Decent crowd. Â Cougars here and there. Â Fries are definitely on point. Â Service is very good as they are always smiling and informative on the items on the menu. Â Small bar area. The drinks are also phenomenal from the beers, wine list and mixed. Â Always count on Marlow's to get fed well! Â Only main hassle is the lack of parking. Â Very difficult in the evening & weekend nights to find something in the private lot not only with people coming to the tavern but also other businesses that surround it. Â
Grade: B
First time with my friend, we were looking for someplace not too pricey in Vinings area for drinks and she told me about Marlow's Tavern. At first they forgot to get us menus after seating us, so we were about 5-10 minutes without menus, before someone noticed us.
Once we got our menus I was pleased with the drink selection and decided to try something new so I order the Skinny Ginger Margarita while my friend order the Pomegranate Martini. While waiting for our drinks we ordered the Killer Calamari (delicious - the marinara sauce is the best) and it arrived at the same time as our drinks (quickly). Our waiter, Marcus, frequently checked on us and I told him I did not really like my drink and he quickly replaced it with a different drink at no charge.
Overall I enjoyed my experience here and i loved the live music.
I will be back
I haven't eaten there in over a year and last night we decided to stop in for dinner. It took awhile for our food to come to the table, but our waitress was great.
I hate the shrimp and crawfish po' boy which was kinda good. The shrimp and crawfish were tempura fried, but I don't think they let any of the oil drain after taking it out of the fryer...it was dripping oil! The french fries were super greasy too. On the bright side, the fish tacos my boyfriend had were great.
So, aside from the excessively greasy food last night, it was pretty good.
After shopping on a chilly Friday evening at the near by North Park Mall, we were looking for a nice place to get dinner. This one was nearby and thought of giving it a try.
The place is cool and casual. The waitress was very sweet and checked on us a few  times to see if we were good with our drinks.
We ordered the Truffled Parmesan Fries which I should admit I had to fight for with my hubby and cousin who were finishing them real fast. Hot, crispy and mouthwatering.
I got a little help from the reviews and went with the pecan crusted trout. I definitely loved the whole ensemble - the sauce which was a brandied cranberry with sage cream, the grated squash inside, the green beans and the fish. I wanted to lick the sauce off the plate. So creamy and yummy.
Hubby had the steak - forgot which one and my cousin had the black bean veggie burger. They both were happy with their food.
I love creme brulee. So we ordered the seasonal pumpkin creme brulee which was heavenly - with a light pumpkin and nutmeg flavor.
Its a nice place to hang out with friends and family and have a good time with tasty food.
I've been to Marlow's many times. They took away my favorite burger from the menu. I Â still ask for it, but they refused to cook it. I wonder why they took away their best burger? That burger was their steakhouse burger. It had a huge piece of portabella mushroom and some weird, delicious sauce.
Since my favorite burger was gone, I tried their Double Cheese Burger. They allow you to choose from many different cheeses--everything except American cheese. WTF? American cheese tastes awesome on a burger. I don't know why they don't offer it. FAIL.
They also didn't cook my burger to temp. I always ask for medium rare; it was medium well. Overall, it was an okay burger. The burger seemed a bit dried out and the patty was a bit tough. I wonder if they smashed out the juices? I hope not.
I tried their salads and sandwiches. They were not bad. I actually prefer their sandwiches over their burgers now. The food is okay, not great. They're also a bit pricy too. Also, during some evenings, their band plays extremely loud outside. You can't hear yourself talk.
It's a trendy area to go to in Vining's. Just like most Vinings places, older people seem to frequent it. So if you're into people who are 28+, you should come here.
The food and service were great, but they desperately need to take over the lease of the building next door and create a foyer with chairs. Friday nights are crazy, the patio was closed due to a holiday party, and I had no interest in going to the packed bar. My only other options? Stand in the doorway and try to stay out of other guests' way as they entered and exited. Boo! That's my only complaint.
Dinner must-haves:
-Shrimp & Grits: this just makes me lift my hands and smile thinking about it. I didn't order it, my girl did, and I almost pushed her outta her seat and stole it after she let me taste it.
-Tail & turf: Tempura lobster tail? Who does that? It was EXCELLENT! I'm a little strange, in that I eat lobster with cocktail sauce. They told me they didn't have any, but the server had the kitchen make me some.
-Truffle fries
-Fish tacos
-Skinny ginger margarita: you'll only like this if you enjoy the taste of ginger. I do and thought it was yummy.
Tonight was our first visit to any of the Marlow's locations, and this is the closest one to our home. Wanted to take my wife (who just returned from out of town for several days), to a nice restaurant we've not been to, and I happened to remember Marlow's. After a reasonable wait, we were shown a table, and assigned a very nice server, who, after finding out it was our first time, did a great job going over the menu to us.
After stating the fish tacos were what they were known for, my wife chose those, and I chose the Mountain Trout. It didn't take long for the food to come out, which considering the place was packed with people waiting to get a space, was amazing. Presentation was great, Kapow! Looked delicious from the start.
Now for the food. I loved the Mountain Trout. Tasted fresh, delicious, and the sweet sesame soy sauce that was drizzled over it, paired with the wok-cooked veggies, really complimented the fish. Loved it. Ate every bit of it all. My wife didn't care for the fish tacos, surprisingly. She said they were too spicy for her taste, so she picked around it. I hated that for her.
It wasn't long before the Chef came by, Chef Ken, and he asked how everything was. I told him how much I loved my dish, and he could see my wife had barely eaten any of hers. She explained it was too spicy, and Ken apologized, said sometimes it's not conveyed the level of spice, and that he was genuinely sorry. He came back with the ticket shortly, and explained he'd taken her tacos off, and gave her a card for a free meal the next time she comes in to give them another try.
Now, he didn't have to do any of that. We probably would have come back. We didn't expect it. He didn't have to take her meal off, although it was appreciated, given that she barely ate any of it. But the fact he did, and gave her a card for a future meal went above and beyond, and that in my book merits five stars all day long. Good food, good service, a great experience that makes you want to come back. It gets no better than that in my book. We'll definitely be back, and are fans.
Marlow's in Vinings is a great place to grab a drink with friends or coworkers after work. Or at night when they have live music out on the patio. This location of Marlow's is always rockin' during happy hour with people that work in the area, and at night for those checking out the band that is playing.
I always find this the place to start off your night. I usually head here before heading out to grab a quick bite. I LOVE their kettle chips drenched in melted blue cheese topped with bacon and tomatoes; even if they are a million calories.
I've been coming to this restaurant literally since it opened in the Vinings. Â I'm a long-time fan!
The only bad thing I have to say about this place is that the menu changes constantly. Â Personally, I don't like finding a favorite dish just to discover the next time you come there it has been discontinued (one of those were the California Wrap and the salmon dinner entre, which still exists, but the original was better). Â I also used to be a big fan of the Pomegranate Margarita (not mojito), which is no longer on the menu, but thankfully, the bartenders will still make you those :)
The brunch buffet is absolutely TO DIE FOR!!! Best breakfast food around!! I had 3 of their crabcake eggs benedict... I could not get enough! Â The brunch is expensive at $15 a person, but you definitely get your value in the quality of the food. Â And if you feel so inclined, you can add their bottomless mimosas. Â What else can you ask for??
I love their patio atmosphere and the bands that play there.
All in all, one of my favorite places to go in the Vinings. I've never been disappointed there.
I was really impressed with Marlow's Tavern in Vinings. Â I had never been here before and was a little nervous when my friend suggested we eat here. I'd previously heard from other friends that it was over priced and not that good. Â Since I'm trying to get out there and try new things, I decided not to veto my friend's choice.
We went around 5:30 on Saturday and there was only one other table occupied. Â It was really quiet and the number of staff members far out numbered the patrons. Â My nervousness was increasing. Â After examining the menu there were several items that looked appealing to me. Â I finally settled on the Chicken Panini with french fries. Â It took awhile for our food to come out which was surprising since we were essentially the only people in here. Â The wait was worth it. Â The panini was AWESOME. Â I really really liked it. Â The french fries were a little over salted, but they were still good. Â My friend had a buffalo chicken wrap and she loved it. Â My bill wasn't much more than any other place I eat at in Atlanta. Â Will definitely go back.
Marlow's has become one of my favorite neighborhood spots. Â I began going there for after-work happy hours and thought it was a great bar - great beer selection (they have Magic Hat, always a plus for me) and an extensive list of specialty cocktails. Â But as soon as a friend ordered the surprisingly yummy truffle fries and *amazing* kettle chips for the whole table, I realized that it was also a impressively delicious restaurant. Â I've tried their fried calamari (two thumbs up - and I'm picky about my calamari), classic cheeseburger (hit the spot - no complaints), steak salad (excellent!) and fish tacos (I randomly get cravings for them, all the time), and I can't get enough.
I just keep falling in love with it: live music, always; open LATE, even on weekdays, which - as you all know - is very difficult to come by 'round here; great set-up (I like the super-sized pub tables); amazingly friendly and efficient staff. Â If you don't thoroughly your experience at Marlow's, I'd be very surprised!
Now this is a true Gastropub! They pour great drinks and serve very good cuisine even though they bill themselves as a neighborhood tavern.
What makes Marlows special is that their menu "offers a diverse combination of classic dishes that are updated and elevated to gourmet level" according to their Web site. And that they do.
We tried some pulled pork tacos and shrimp and grits (classic Southern fare). Â OH. MY. GOD. Both were to die for. Â The pulled pork tacos were three flour tortillas overflowing with the most moist, tender and delightful pulled pork I've ever tried. They were topped with shredded cheese, cilantro and a little lettuce and tomato. Â They were the perfect Summertime lunch.
The shrimp and grits came a close second to the best shrimp and grits I ate at Fleet Landing in Charleston, S.C. What's cool about this dish is that they flash-fry their grits into two grit cakes and cover them in a very good wine sauce with loads of shrimp, tomatoes, spinach and scallions. The grit cakes were the perfect blend of creaminess!
I also tried the raspberry cheesecake and it was good, but I prefer my cheesecake NY style.
This is an upscale bar in my opinion and is a great place to take a date, hold a business lunch or meet friends before a night out. There's something for everyone and did I mention they pour great drinks! Â There's a Marlow's in various locations throughout Metro Atlanta so you have no excuse ... get thee to Marlow's!
I am on the same page as Kathy H with this one. Â I simply cannot believe this is bar food.
I have been to this place a few different times. Â Marlowe's is packed everytime that I go to the spot. Â Sitting in a mini shopping plaza, you'd never expect this bar actually produces food this good.
But it does, and it does it extremely well. Â
Standouts:
a) Â The Kettle Chips---if you like blue cheese these things are going to make your heart happy. Â Make sure you check out this pile of kettle chips that is loaded with blue cheese, tomatoes, bacon and scallions.
b) Â Firecracker Shrimp..(i think this is what its called)0--these damn shrimp are incredible...spicy of course, and a small helping but very, very good.
c) Â Buffalo Chicken Sandwich-- Â Lean, spicy, and soooo tasty...get it with ranch dressing and its a winner!
The service here is always good. Â Quick, concise, and they dont make mistakes. Â The hosts are nice too!
I have had a tumultuous relationship with Marlow's. Â Lots of ups. Lots of downs. Â But I think we're in a good place now. Â
I've been going for about 2 years now, always enjoying the grilled chicken panini, which, much to my chagrin, has been taken off the menu. Â That would be one of the aforementioned "downs". Â But the rest of the menu is tasty pub grub, with moderate prices. Â They have Stella Artois on tap, plenty of TVs for sports, live music on the weekends, a generally cool atmosphere (another down - there are likely to be a couple of creepy guys at the bar checking out the hot Vinings babes).
Marlow's does get crowded, so you'll have to get there early to snag a high top table (which seats 8, and there are 2), a spot at the bar, or a place to sit outside.  So the final assessment, this  is a place you'll need to plan ahead to go to - otherwise, anticipate standing and waiting for a while with a cold Stella in hand.
Seriously - I love Marlow's. I had never been to this particular location until today, when I met up with Eric S. and Robert to ingest a bit of "hair of the dog" and greasy food to settle down the remnants of last night's MARTA pub crawl in my stomach.
I took it easy and had water, some of our hummus appetizer, and granola with yogurt, strawberries, and bananas. It might sound plain and boring but it was very very good. Just the perfect thing to settle the stomach and get the day started at 2PM.
We sat out on the patio but the interior looked really nice. Dark woods, dark paints, black and white photography everywhere and some cool sleek light fixtures. Definitely unexpected for such a "casual" place, but it was really a pleasant surprise.
Service was great and attentive yet not overbearing. My favorite part is she actually (1) didn't mind giving us 3 separate checks and (2) actually split the hummus cost 3 ways between us. How often will people do THAT for you??
Total meal cost with tip around $12.00, not bad for a yummy brunch on this side of town - which is very barren when it comes to brunch options.
The food here is excellent greasy pub food. Â I have limited Atlanta experience, but it's become one of my go-to places for a decent burger and fries (and if you tell them it's your first time there they'll hook you up with free kettle chips) . Â The mixed drinks are tasty, if a little weak, and the decor is dangerously dark- the kind of dark mixes with alcohol and leaves you wondering whether that girl you scoped out was really as cute as you made her out to be.
The best thing about Marlow's, though, is the people watching. Â One Saturday evening, I witnessed: Â a group of obnoxious drunk UGA alumni trying to relive their college days; a group of overweight post-college women desperately seeking (and getting) attention; a smoking hot 40 year on an obvious first date with a newly single 55 year old (who was trying so hard to be cool); and some truly pathetic pickup lines being spewed out. Â I thought it was a great cross section of this new city that I've become a part of. Â Can't wait to go back.
Marlows Tavern in Vinings is the sort of place where most bar tabs are bigger than the food bills. This is definitely a great spot for happy hour, catching up with friends, business lunches, or even a date.
My first visit, I was taken here to celebrate with my team at work. I really didn't know what to expect. Honestly, I thought it would be your typical burger/fries sportsbar like tavern. So needless to say...I wasn't that excited.
After walking through the door, and through the curtained entrance, I knew I was in for something a little different. Something a bit more unique than I had expected. Dim lighting, paired with rich decor, and the smell of yummy food sizzlin...Luckily the food proved itself to be extremely reasonable in price and definitely tasty.
J.T.'s Kettle Chips were a huge crowd pleaser....Crispy potato chips crowned with blue cheese, bacon, tomato, and scallions
It definitely has an "after-dark" vibe.... The concept is a cozy neighborhood saloon with a contemporary twist. There's a semi-open kitchen, a spacious bar area that's ground zero for the lively 25-35 singles scene, and cushy booths for settling in with someone special.
Framed black-and-white photos and flat-screen TVs complete the old-meets-new look inside. But the covered outdoor bar and patio, where there's live music seven nights a week, is the place everybody wants to be when it's warm.
We really liked the Firecracker shrimp: a generous portion of tailless treats lightly fried in a spicy tempura batter and served in a pretty paper cone with a side of rmouladelike dipping sauce.
I also enjoyed the Buffalo Chicken Wrap which consists of
Spicy chicken, grilled or fried, shredded romaine, tomato, jalapeno jack, and ranch dressing with Hand-Cut Tavern Fries on a grilled tortilla.
The shrimp and crab "nacho" plate looked amazing but I was too full to go there. This is made with rock shrimp, jack cheese and fresh jalapeo peppers. Sounds YUM-Meeee!!

All in All: Seriously Mouthwatering & Memorable
Marlow's has a black/red color themed interior paired with rich dark wood furnishings and understated lighting--it's very pretty for a casual pub of this kind. Â And comfortable, too. Â The spacing is just right, the air fresh, and there are many well-situated TV screens, not too invasive and very convenient. Â
Unfortunately the food and beer menu is a bit limited. Â I like the Marlow's Melt and the fries are very tasty, but not much else really conjures my appetite. Â The beer list is rather boring, especially what's on draft (only about 5 at any time of unexciting varieties), but to their credit the mix drink list seemed long and varied. Â
When a band plays on the patio, the noise can reach a painful level.
For some reason there is always some late-20 to mid-30 aged women getting drunk out of their mind at the bar. Â Consider that the place is not particularly a rowdy one, I find it a bit amusing.
