Mars Caribbean Gardens

Great food and pleasant take out service. I ordered the stew oxtails, peas n rice, plantains and potatoe salad. I was sad they didnt have my milk cake but next time hopefully :)

Everyone there was very nice and genuine. I look forward to eating here again. When I got home and dove into my food it was non stop pure pleasure that reminded me of how much I miss my grannies (Ma) cookin. All I needed was some good ol Johnny cake to complete my meal. I can skip the plantains, they were a lil over ripe for my tasting but I can make those at home in no time so no points takin away there.

I'd give them a 5 star but I havent finished trying their other dishes yet. I love the fact that they have my Marie Sharps habanero hot sauce there to give my food that extra belizean kick.

My next try is their curry n hopefully they have the good ol curry goat.

This review is for food and service. Note that this is a mom and pop establishment, so it's not in the best location. If you want to go to somewhere foofoo with mediocre food, go to Kincaid's in Redondo Beach.

I have to say, I am really impressed with the food and hospitality. The food came out a little slow but hey, what's the hurry? It's island time, although Belize is not an island. It's on the coast, close enough ;)

Everything we ordered was good. Stew chicken, stew beef, curry chicken, fish balls, ox tail and tamales. They even gave us samples of their home made ice cream. Soursop, sweet creamed corn and coconut. They were all yummy!

The owners were so nice. Answered all our Belizean questions and even put in a DVD of Belize history for us to watch.  Can't wait to visit Belize!

FYI - Weekend specials are served on Friday. I wish I knew this so we could have tried the conch soup. I guess I'll have to go back another time to try this.

Yummmmmm! Me and my buddy ate here today, it was late afternoon and only a few people were there. We both had Ox tails and rice and beans with potato salad. The price was fair and the portions were plenty. we took homes a few tamales for later and I ate they were the BOMB! Service was attentive and the male owner was funny and very welcoming, They played traditional Caribbean music a song called "Hey Where's my Goat" had us cracking up.   We will come back, very nice place.
