I was really hoping for a Rally's/Checkers with a dining room experience here. Â Who am I kidding? Â I went for the WiFi and the air conditioning.
I'd never been to this McDonald's on the north side of town. Â It's part of a Shell gas station and convenience store. Â I've been to those all over the country, including the Quizno's that is only about 2 miles away. Â Shell doesn't take over management of the restaurant any more than Texaco does, and that's a good thing.
I ordered a cheeseburger in a combo meal. Â She asked if I wanted a large drink and I agreed to it. Â The total price was rather high, which I didn't understand, and as she looked at the display for the back-up person to get orders, she turned to ask me if I wanted 1 cheeseburger or 2. Â They have a 2 cheeseburger meal and that's what she selected.
So, the manager came to help, and refunded everything and started again. Â She did the same thing. Â It was like cheeseburger combo meal training day. Â The next attempt, she asked me "So, you just wanted the cheeseburger by itself? and I probably looked a bit surprised, so I (irritatedly, probably) repeated "cheeseburger in a combo meal" with emphasis on "combo meal" again. Â I must have said it 6 times before I got my food, plus I said "fries and a drink, also".
Since I was mostly there for something other than food, I suppose it worked out, but is it so difficult to understand a simple order? Â It's a good thing I didn't ask for extra ketchup on the sandwich. Â Yeesh!
