McGruder's Irish Pub

One of the first bars as you enter Elgin from Irving Park road. This place is typical suburban strip mall nonsense. Ther is little of anything in the bar. Maybe one dart board and a video game. The place is full of low class tables and it does have an impressive looking square bar. The hamburger was great as are most places that sell hamburgers these days but the waffle fries were not the best. The one good thing this average bar did have for gameday was a large pull down scren that made watching games awsome

I was stoked to go here for the first time but unfortunately we won't be back. It seems like a good place to grab a brew but not to eat. they only have 15 things in the menu so with such a limited choices they should be able to execute then well. I could have made a better burger than we got. you could tell it was a frozen patty not fresh. the fish and chips were swimming in grease. it was worth the try but next time I'll just stay home and eat a bowl of cereal.

First time here last night!  Went with a group of friends and I have mixed feeling about the place.  I think it's in a great location, easy in and out.  The pub is spacious and clean.  

We got there a little past 10:30 pm so the kitchen was closed. *Sad face* Took a little while to get a drink at the bar or even a waitress to our table.  

There was a live band that night and the music they were playing I'm not a fan of and it was really, really loud.  I could barley understand what they were saying.  It definitely was a mixed crowd of all ages, 20 somethings to 50+ somethings.  I didn't mind, I'm just saying.  

Now the one thing that bothered me the most was whenever me and my friends ordered shots they served them to us in paper cups.  Made me feel like I was at a house party.   I would hope next time I go they'll serve our shots in a shot GLASS!  I didn't get a chance to look at the drink or food menu to even see if they serve Irish beer or food.  For sure I saw that they had Irish Car Bombs, lol. Other than all that I had a great time at McGruder's with my friends!
