I came to Meehan's to try the Reuben. I write a blog called the Reuben Ranger, 100% dedicated to Reubens.

I was impressed with the Meehan's but it was a bit expensive.  See the full review here.

This place is great.  Very nice employees, great foods, and great brews.  Come in and see for yourself!

This is a great Meehan's.  It's casual, but the patrons are friendly, and it's easy to get to know people.  The food however, is GREAT!  This is a true gastropub.  There are plenty of options- seared ahi tuna, bacon wrapped dates stuffed with blue cheese, and beet salads can be found along burgers, and other usual pub fare.  It has lovely outdoor seating too.  Give this spot a chance!

Went on a Sunday afternoon about 4:30pm with a friend. The place was not busy at all. Must servers were unoccupied.

Pros: Nice ambiance. Tasty food & good portion sizes.  For an appetizer, I had the crab & artichoke dip. OFF THE CHAIN!  It's served with warm, fluffy pita slices.  Delicioso!
Entree was the Bangers & Mash.  Sausage and mashed potatoes were great. It's accompanied by a lovely mushroom/wine reduction sauce.  Friend had the meatloaf & said it was tasty. Food came out quickly, too.

Cons: Service was TERRIBLE!  First, we had a server come to our table to take drink orders. She came back with our  drinks, then we never saw her again until our meal was almost over (she came to give/get the check, with no explanation or apology for her disappearance!) I had to ask another server to take our orders because the first one disappeared & we'd waited almost 20 mins. The 2nd server forgot to bring beers we ordered!  I had to chase her down to get them. Also the wait to pay was nearly 20 mins.  UNACCEPTABLE!

Despite the tasty eats, I'm unmotivated to return. Service is as important to me as quality food.

Meehan's is an organic Irish pub. I'm not sure you can find another one in the city. So if you're the sort who prefers that your cows were naturally fed, this is a good place to be.

The portions are large, the service is good and the food is good. My girlfriend had a prime rib melt, which was delicious! I'd also note that their Irish breakfast came with blood sauage. Pretty legit in my books.

    I'll definitely be coming back.

Meehan's is pretty solid. I had one of their specials with was a prime rib melt. Very good! They have some really great sweet potato fries too. They have a good beer selection as well.

As this is a pub environment, our service was a little spotty. We had a few people join our party and it took 20 or so minutes to get menus, and we had to ask for them.

Other than that-- really quality food at good prices. I'll definitely be back!

Love the local and healthy food options. At least, healthier. I'm sure any benefits were outweighed by the beer and the fried egg on my burger. The atmosphere is always great. The staff have been cheerful both times. The only note is the parking lot is a little small for the number of businesses it serves but I've always managed to find a place. Sometimes I just have to drive around a second.

    I went  for lunch

    What was ordered: lamb burger

Service: great, staff was very friendly

    Parking: easy and free

Atmosphere: casual/loud, small and tucked away

Burger was cooked perfectly, very tender/moist, cheese and lamb combo was awesome

One of the better burgers I've had at a good price

Now, I'm just going to rate the food here because I'm not much of a beer drinker.  So, you guys might want to move on to a different review if that's what you're most interested in.

So, the place is tucked away behind a gas station and isn't super visible from the road, but that's cool.  Awesome even.  I love places that aren't super easy to find.  Call it adventure, call it being a hipster, call it whatever...I just like it, OK?  Anyway, the outside looks really neat.  When we stepped inside it was still really neat.

We picked a tiny table near the bar and ordered our sodas and appetizer.  The pretzels were pretty good...standard restaurant/pub soft pretzels.  The cheesy dipping sauce was good stuff, but the other...well, I had one dip of it and called it quits on it.

I ordered the buffalo chicken wrap with onion rings for my main dish.  They were out of the normal wrap for it and instead served it up taco style in smaller tortillas.  It was totally fine and I enjoyed it.  The onion rings needed some extra flavoring, but there was a dipping sauce on the side that came with something in my meal and it added a lot of flavor, so I was fine with it.  The boy ordered the fish and chips.  He dug the fish, but didn't have much to rave about with the fries.  He likes battered fries and these were just plain old steak fries.  But, I can't fault them for that.  He can, but I can't.  Anyway, the food, overall, was good with the hits outweighing the misses.

We were far too full for dessert, but we will go back and get some sweet treats from this place.

Our service was excellent.  We didn't wait long for anything and our waitress was tons of polite.

This place is recommended and seems like a great place to dine or to just hang out and grab a drink.

Maybe I just went on a bad night. New to the Vinings area, and so far haven't found a good bar with people around my age (27).  I'll just keep searching.  Not saying it was a bad place, just wasn't what I was looking for.

Oh good lord. Staff of Meehan's, you all deserve a round of applause for dealing with our various parties (ranging from 4-12+ people) three nights in a row! They had to run us out of there.

The first night was the only night we ordered food and it was amazeballs. The devils on horseback were TDF (to die for) and the drinks were flowing. We sat on the patio all 3 nights and honestly...some of the best 3 nights I've had. That is definitely colored by the outstanding company we had, but the service was always great and cheery. Excellent beer menu, great mixed and well drinks...and I'm sure they serve wine, but I never partook.

The train that roars by occasionally is mildly annoying, but it gives a "Jake and Elwood's apartment that was under the L-train in the Blues Brothers" feel to the place. Also, the one holer bathroom blows if you really have to go.
    Regardless, thanks for the memories!

I adore the Vinings Meehan's.  I actually first started coming to this place because I had a friend in from out of town whose last name was Meehan, and he demanded we go to a place in his namesake.  I deliberated between downtown and Vinings (pffh, I'm not going to Sandy Springs), and it was kind of a no-brainer that we ended up at the Vinings one.  It's since become one of my go-to bars for a decent burger and booze.

Parking is easy, free, and for me, never once a problem.  The outside aesthetic is very neighborhood-feeling and welcoming.  Upon entering, it's a dim, definitely pub-like atmosphere, but it's kept clean and pleasant.  The barkeep is often astute enough to greet and acknowledge right away, and the waitresses there are often pleasant on the eyes and most of the time, fun to flirt with even if you have no chance in hell.  I crush on one or two of them every time I go.

Semantics aside, I do like the food there.  It's one of the places when I say I want a burger medium, it will be perfectly medium.  And I love any place that has those hand-cooked like chips that are uber-crunchy, and they're perfect to munch on while nursing drinks.  As for the cost of booze, let's face it, I'm beyond the age of griping about the cost of beer.  It's fairly standard fare for beer and cider, and I love that they have Strongbow on tap.  If you're one to gripe about alcohol cost, just remember, it always costs more at a strip club than it ever could at Meehan's.

The outdoor patio is a warm and cozy spot that I've enjoyed in the variety of seasons.  There are televisions to watch, as well as picnic benches or standing tables.

One thing I really love about the Vinings location is that it's literally next to a QT station.  When you've had too much to drink, and you're waiting on the cabbie to arrive, it's super convenient to stumble on over to that QT and get your Gatorade, coffee, water, or whatever munchies the drunkenness spurns.

It's kind of a travesty that I've neglected to review this place until now, but my most recent visit refreshed my memory that such needed to be rectified.

    We love this Meehan's!

The outdoor patio is stellar and super laid-back.  Perfect for bringing your dog(s) on a Sunday afternoon, grabbing a drink and a burger.  There are televisions set up for watching games as well.  The only negative is the cigarette smoke outside...

The food is delicious for "pub food" and several of the cocktails (the key lime martini, in particular) are great as well.

While their other location (in the lower Sandy Springs area) has a much better facility... this one makes up for it with more personal bar-charm.

I hopped in here fresh off a long day at work and was greeted as soon as I walked in the door.  As I bellied up to the bar, I got a handshake and an introduction from the barkeep (when did people stop doing this, by the way?).  Nice!

Bottom line: my stout was poured properly, the food was delicious, the barkeep was friendly and personable, the patio is cigar-friendly...  Meehan's is definitely a keeper!

P.S. - Only bump down from 5 stars is prices.  I know it's Vinings and all... but it isn't your cheap neighborhood pub...

I've only been here once, but I liked it. I wish it was a bit closer so I could go more often/again. They had a good beer selection. A bit more pricey than I'd like to pay for beer, but then again.. they have beers that are harder to come by. Their kitchen closes earlier than it should. But the staff is super friendly and they have a cool outdoor patio area. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the neighborhood.

I love Meehans. The service is always great there. The food is above average. The drinks are a little pricy but not outrageous. They have a really cool patio area. It's covered and they bring out heaters in the winter so you can sit out there no matter what the weather is like. It's pet friendly. I have seen several people bring their dogs to the patio. It's always pretty busy on the weekends but not so crowded that you can't get waited on.
That's why I'm very sad I can't come here anymore. I had a falling out with my friend and need to avoid the whole vinings area for about a year. Also, I am somewhat embarassed that I came out with her so often because she is the kind of person who treats servers like dirt on her shoe. Good bye for now Meehans! I will see you again someday. :.(

I admit I'm developing an unhealthy attachment to Meehan's. It's been our local pub for years, and lately I'm starting to really appreciate having a place to chill and sip a pint after work. I always feel happy and centered in the pubby hubbub. I'm not so outgoing as to know the staff by name, but the boyfriend does.

Their Irish pub food is spot-on, the sandwiches have really yummy combinations of flavors, and even the salads are good. My faves are the BLT, the Big Lebowski and the Ahi Tuna Tostadas. The wings usually come out perfect. The onion rings... omg. I don't usually like onion rings that much, but these are even better than the fries. The nachos are good, but less consistent. Now that I'm gluten-free I have to give up the good (unhealthy) stuff and go for the Meehan's salad - which isn't really a hardship thanks to the goat cheese. :) Brunch at Meehan's is also good. On a warm weekend morning the patio is the perfect spot for stretching out with a mimosa and an eggs benedict.

The only deterrent is that it's not super cheap. But the food is good quality, the atmosphere is lively and the service is always great, so it's totally worth it.

Meehan's is A-OK! The service is okay, food is good. The atmosphere is great! it has a great feel to it, kind of worn out pub on the inside, and a well used rustic patio area with fireplace outside. I don't go there for the food, but eat every time. I don't go there for the beer, but always feel compelled to order something outside the typical Bud Light to raise up. I don't really know why i go there, but each time I do I enjoy the night. There is something bout sitting outside on a nice night there. If there is such a thing as Irish Feng Shui, Meehan's has it!

Love this place.  It's across the street from my restaurant so we go there after work for music, drinks and good company.  Clint is the best bartender in Sandy Springs, he always remembers my drink.  The food is pretty good, too.  Irish Pub fare, like their loaded Shepherds Pie.  They also have a dank Grilled Cheese, and if you need some dipping sauce for the fries or chicken tenders ask for the Honey Mustard BBQ sauce, delicious.  My friend is a Nachos Professional and she loves their giant plate of chips and toppings.

The beer selection is great, about 16 taps that feature American and Imported craft beers.  Their bottle selection is great too, with Chimay, Three Philosophers, and interesting items like the Skull Splitter Wee Heavy.  Full bar and a few wines, too.

Meehan's has live music every weekend.  We love Red Zeppelin and their other "house" bands.  About once a month they also host a big party, like the Sweetwater fundraiser, Canada Day, and Sandy Springs finest spot to celebrate St. Patrick's Day.

Rich, the manager, and all of the bartenders and servers are all very personable and close-knit with the community.  Lots of regulars, including some fascinating creepy old men that like to annoy the girls in my group.  I laugh.

It can get pretty busy on a weekend night, so remember your bartenders' names if you want a drink quickly.

Why did I come to an Irish Pub when I couldn't drink? Maybe because I like to torture myself?!? Great bar, nice atmosphere (indoor and outdoor seating) and a good mix of people... Their food is typical bar/pub food, nothing to crow about.
We had a great waitress, very attentive and always kept the sweet tea coming! Parking however sux... I was lucky to get a spot close by but im not sure where your supposed to park if you couldn't find one by the restaurant.

I came here the other day after a suggestion from the concierge at my hotel, and was quite pleased as it was just what I was looking for.

I sat at the bar for dinner, as usual, and enjoyed a properly poured Guinness (my favorite beer by the way). If you didn't know there was a proper way to pour a Guinness, then you're either: A) not a fan or B) don't know the difference. Trust me, there's a difference. Of course, no self-respecting Irish bar could call themselves such without knowing how to pour the milk of their homeland, so let's move on.

I ordered one of the house specialty burgers as suggested by the bartender and was very happy with her recommendation. The burger was a quality beef, and it was topped with a high end cheese, the typical condiments, and a side of sweet potato fries. Very happy at the end of the night.

Bottom line: While I want to see what other eateries downtown Atlanta has to offer, I wouldn't frown upon coming here again.

I tried a Hawaiian coffee and was given three cherries that probably contained more liquor than my drink. That's not to say that my drink was weak, just that these... "fermented" cherries were quite potent.

My buddy Maria S. and I split a burger, which was good. They had no problem splitting the fries half regular and half sweet potato.

    Overall good experience :)

A great pub vibe and perfectly poured beers. The Guinness is perfect. It's a pub, and well the food is pub food. So don't expect top-notch fancy dishes, and you'll still be happy with the pub nachos or, if you want to feel even more pub-ish, go for the bangers and mash.

The servers are entertaining and excellent at keeping your glasses full. The patio is awesome when the weather permits. Inside there are plenty of TVs to watch sports.

One warning: some nights this place fills up with the 40+ crowd who still act like they are juniors at UGA, complete with period fashions of braided belts, khaki pants, and over-worn polo shirts, and binge drinking. It's entertaining at first...

Very cool pub with a lovely patio.

The inside bar has a nice "true pub" feel to it and the beer selection is pretty impressive.  The menu has a good sampling of items with a few traditional Irish victuals listed.  While I haven't personally tried any of them, the few items that I did have were pretty tasty.  Particularly the Fish Tacos.

As I mentioned, the patio is really nice and you can even bring your doggie out there to hang with you as evidenced by a few tables with very sweet pups.  Unfortunately, my massive fur baby wouldn't be quite as cool, so no Meehan's for Mr. Graham.

Overall, a very chilled place for happy hour or just hanging with friends.  I will definitely be returning.  Just not with my doggie.

I have never been to Ireland, but this is how I imagine a true garden pub to look like.  There is this lovely outdoor area with wisteria climbing over all over and other flowers.

We sat outside, and even the table seemed authentic: the legs were uneven but the structure was very sturdy.  Good for throwing in a good pub brawl.

We ordered fish and chips (and the chips were devine) and I had the cobb salad.  Even though the sun was setting and the light low, I could see the brilliant orange of carrots, yellow of the egg and the white of the cheese on it.  Outside they were showing a soccer game, and inside the music was blasting.  I would love to come back later when the place gets more hoppin'.  That would be fun!

I admit that, having grown up in midtown/highlands, I'm a bit of a snob regarding the parts of Atlanta that are a bit more... outside of Atlanta.  But since I've just moved back to the A from New York to live in Vinings... I'm trying to embrace my almost OTP-ness.

That being said, I dragged a good friend from a bar in Little Five points over to the area to find a good place to eat and drink casually in  last night.  We picked Meehans since I'd never been here and she'd been to some of the other locations.  That it's located behind the gas station is a little weird.  But the patio looked awesome, the service was attentive, and the drink selection was good.  (I crave bars who can bust out a wine list that's even half as expansive and affordable as their beer list.  Meehan's is not this place, but they did serve a set of basic standards by the glass and bottle).

The food though was what really surprised me - que delicioso! We had the ahi tuna app - very impressive.  Then we each has a salad, which was boring, but still surprisingly fresh and filling.  I'd come back for dinner, no prob.  Prices were average, no real deals but nothing shockingly expensive.

Mostly the place was friendly, the food was good, the patio was inviting, and it's a ten minute walk from my house.

The night before my cousin's wedding, a good portion of my family decided to meet for dinner and said cousin recommended Meehan's (apparently she spends a good portion of her life and income there and they known her by name).

When our caravan of cars arrived at the restaurant, they were ready for us (we'd called ahead). Their original goal was to let us take up a good portion of the patio area, but just as they seated us it began to rain (note: much of the patio is covered, and had we not been such a big group, we would've been sheltered just fine). So, Plan B: they had one massive table available to us, we commandeered two more and then we were in business.

Smooth sailing from there - both the beer selection and menu offered something for everyone. As to the food - rave reviews all around. I recall the Shephard's Pie, the Guinness Short Ribs, and the burgers (all of them) being top among them.

The two servers who handled our party did a stellar job. I know how difficult large groups with separate checks can be (especially when the kids keep changing seats and everyone's talking and no one's listening - I love my family, but I think I'd probably hate serving them...).

Mistakes made: 0. Congratulatory desserts on the house: 4 (and that's all we needed - go for the bread pudding or the whiskey cake) . Happy, stuffed family members: 19 (my 4-year-old cousin fell asleep before the meal arrived).

I went here with some friends for happy hour.  I hadn't heard much about the place, but I think this could quickly become a favorite spot.  Our waitress, Cassie, was awesome.  Yes, the service was a little slow, but you're in a bar, you're not there to rush in and rush out!  They are awesome in my book because they make strawberry margaritas on the rocks!  Alot of places only serve them frozen, blah! :)  We tried the pretzels, which were delicious, the nachos, which was really good, but they had corn salsa on it which was kinda weird, the crab dip is DELICIOUS and onion rings, but I didn't try those.    I met the owner, Philip... nice guy!!

You've really gotta try this place out... it's a good place to hang with friends and even on the patio, it still wasn't really smokey!! :)

I love this place. It's my favorite neighborhood bar and everyone that works there is always so nice.

We recently came here after a tiny dinner in which I still found myself to be hungry. We ordered our alcohol and I also asked for some pretzels.

This is my vice. Warm pretzels with a good amount of salt. The one's served at Meehans may very well be the best I've had. They have the perfect amount of salt and just enough soft breadi-ness. With one order I received two pretzels, a ramekin of queso, and a ramekin of hot mustard. The queso was incredible on the pretzel!! Ugh! So good!

Something else I love about this place is the very minimal smokiness. I think the rule is that if you smoke you have to smoke on the patio. So while you still may go home smelling like bar...you may be able to put that shower off until the morning since your hair won't be wreaking of cigarette smoke.

Visit Meehans and enjoy your alcohol and yummy's on the side. Highly recommended.

I'd heard about this joint from a salesman I once worked with.  Only he was talking about it in past tense.  As in, the last time he was there was in the mid 80's before he met his wife and nightlife was primetime.

    Anyway,
A few weeks after that conversation, my husband brought up the place to check out.  We live close by, so I figured if we drank too much Guinness we could just stumble home.

The place was legit.  It was what I expected:

Dark on the inside, old wooden furniture, former frat boys turned corporate gathered around the bar and a friendly atmosphere.

I had the fish and chips, decent.  You can't really jack up fish and chips, in my opinion.  My husband ordered the pretzels and I'd have to say they were pretty damn delicious.  Better than a ballpark pretzel and the creole mustard was the best.

Our waitress was quick, attentive and on point.   The outside seating (where we were) was nice and relaxed.  The beer was cold and my snakebite was poured properly (thank GOD).

I'd say the only thing I was a bit perplexed about was some items on the menu.  While I expected greasy pub fair, I was met with a warm hug of "organic" ingredients peppering the descriptions.  Which is cool.  After all, green is the new black, right?

You see... here's the thing. This place is AWESOME. The only reason they're getting only 4 stars is that the table service during peak hours is VERY poor. It can take 20 minutes sometimes to get a first round drink order or a refill.

The food is simply amazing for bar fare. Buffalo Tenders and Calamari and Piggies in a Blanket are AWESOME. The staff is pretty damn friendly and the atmosphere is perfect for a local watering hole.

The female manager can be very rude to her staff which irritates me often, they should can her, but otherwise keep up the good work!

Meehan's is a very small bar.  That being said, I DO like the place.. Just on slower nights.

I've been there on a Saturday night where they card at the door and then there's no where to sit... but I've also been there on a Thursday night where you can walk in and pretty much sit anywhere.

One thing that sticks out to me is that Meehans is not necessarily a place for people in their early 20s.  The last time I went with a group of girls, I was the youngest of the 4 of us at 25 years old, and I felt like the youngest in the whole place.  There is definitely an older vibe.. and I think Meehans goes for an older, more mature and classy feel.

They have as much or MORE seating outside as they do inside.. but they have space heaters for the really cold nights.  The outside patio is enclosed with some vines growing around the fence/wall.. Occasionally you'll hear a train going by but it's not horrible.

It's not for large parties, if you're going on the weekend.. because you're not going to get a place to sit OR stand if you don't show up early.  However, if you need a small girls night or want somewhere to go after a date.. Meehans is a good place for that.

No hoegarden!? UGh, what the efffff.

They do have hanger one lime vodka though...yes please! ;)

They serve late which is awesome since as a restaurant manager I don't seem to ever have time off until about 1am.

I had the pigs 'n a blanket which were so pub-chic I almost had to laugh (served with a fancy form of ketchup and honey mustard).

...then about half an hour into enjoying myself 5 of my servers came in, so I promptly "check please!" and peaced.

I won't be back (re: my server hangout) , but I wish I could enjoy it more!

I'm a fan of this place. It's got a great neighborhood feel to it. Patrons are friendly and easy to talk to and the wait staff, while a little hit or miss, is above average for a joint like this. The pesto chicken sandwich is good or pretend you're Irish and order the Shepard's Pie.

They have good beer on tap, better than average food, a nice outdoor eating beer garden-type eating area, and clean bathrooms.

There's nothing overwhelming about the place, but that's good. It's a place where you can be yourself, drink good beer, eat tasty food and maybe even meet some quality neighborhood peoples.

OK after a couple of beers and a burger across town in Norcross, I was off to the Vinings to meet up with a friend at Meehans.  He manages another local restaurant in the area, (hopefully much more on that in the future.)

We got in at about 10pm on a Friday and found ourselves a high top bordering the interior and patio.  As things were a bit busy, it took our server a moment to get over to us.

This gave me ample time though to assess my surroundings.  I'm looking at relocating and Vinings/Smryna are currently at the top of my list.  So when I venture into the neighborhood, I not only am loking at having a good time, but using my longe range vision to help determine if there's the certain intangible feel of home.

Judging from the young professional guests of Meehans I'm liking what I see.  Upon the arrival of our server I ordered my traditional Bud, only to be offered one in a bottle...dude get used to it...its an ale house not a tavern.  I relented and  opted instead for a Harp.  It came quickly and was enjoyed thoroughly.

The place was busy and had a wonderful atmosphere.  From our spot we were able to have a great vantage of both the patio and interior, and while loud and crowded, there wasn't the feel of being on top of one another.

I can say that you need to watch out if you find yourself at one of those "buffer zone" tables as there are some dancing high tops due to some uneveness of the flooring.  Not a problem except for that first time someone goes "elbows up" with relatively full pint glasses on the table.  One easy solution...drink the damn pints!!!

No food this time around, but a good quick couple of drinks, and an opportunity to further cement that I think I'm gonna like it in the neighborhood.

Lunchtime review: Went with a large group of co-workers. We didn't have any problem getting a table to accommodate everyone, including the late stragglers. Service was pretty good during our meal and we really appreciated our server's patience. The food was a little slow coming out of the kitchen. I had the Sun dried Tomato turkey burger, which was quite tasty, and the sweet potato salad, which had a taste I wasn't expecting. Wasn't a pleasant surprise at all. Everyone else's food looked and smelled really good though. Service to clear the table was ok, but it was like pulling teeth to get the check paid. That took forever.
Overall, a pretty good experience and I would give Meehan's both recommendations and another shot to impress me at lunch with the group another day in the future.

Almost four stars but not quite. I've been several times and just got around to reviewing it today....after I had a lazy Sunday afternoon dinner there.

Let me be the first to say that I probably did not pick the best entree from their selection. They do pub food. Pub food = fried and unhealthy. I took the lone healthy option, grilled pineapple teriyaki chicken skewers to be served upon a bed of field greens. Now....the chicken, it was pretty good. The field greens were not so much green as they were brown and white of iceberg lettuce. I was still hungry, since I pushed aside the field "greens". I had some of my dinner companion's french fries and those were pretty good, but I would have rather had something healthier.

I am rambling. It is my fault I made a bad choice. I would say I'd bump it back up to four stars based on my own bad dinner choice, but my Stella draught took about 20 minutes to get and the food took another 45. It was NOT that crowded.

I'll stick to this place for the post work drink ONLY from now on.
