Went there for drinks with some friends around midnight. Both bar tenders were obviously drunk and making themselves extra drinks left and right. When I went to get my drinks the bartender didn't give me my change and pocketed the cash. Worst bar experience I've had in Lubbock.

Don't threaten me with a good time! Mesquite's was a nice surprise in an otherwise unpleasant trip up to Colorado. The drinks are cold and the pours are stiff (you would be surprised what tipping will get you). Just keep in mind that Lubbock is a college town and Mesquite's is packed with a lot of students.

March 30, 2011 Dear http://livingsocial.com, Hello http://Livingsocial.com! First of all, we have been very pleased with the experiences we have had with your site and offers, up until this evening. We had been sitting on voucher #10009342527 for a few weeks now, and out of boredom, we remembered it and decided to improve our evening dining options by using it at Mesquites, a place we had never patronized before. First, we searched for an online menu. We found one at http:// http://www.lubbockhospit… mesquites/. We decided what we wanted, and Aron dialed it in. He began his order, and the first thing he stated he wanted on the order, the girl that had answered the phone, sharply cut him off and said "This is Mesquites. We don't serve that." in a rather "Are you Stupid" kind of tone. Dumbfounded, he apologized and hung up. We then decided he would drive across town and place the order there to go and wait for it. When he arrived inside, he stood at the bar a good 2-3 minutes, while people walked up after him and were greeted, before he was acknowledged. He then asked for a menu, and was able to place the order after carefully reviewing our options. We ordered: The Old Fashioned Burger (which was supposed to come with lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, mayo), added cheese (added$), no tomato, no onion, WITH mustard, no mayo. 5 Brisket Tacos, side of baked beans, side of french fries. $ $ $ The bartender totaled the order and Aron presented the voucher from http://livingsocial.com. He then waited. 35-40 minutes. He was never offered a drink. Or even asked if he wanted to ORDER a drink. There were only 2 tables occupied, and 3 people seated at the bar. On a Wednesday evening, at 6:00pm. He texted me at 6:38 and stated "Holy shit, they are slow". I called him less than 2 minutes later, and could hear him exiting the establishment. When he got home, we happily began to unpack our dinner, when disappointment struck. My OLD FASHIONED BURGER... was a DRY bun and a patty of beef. There was a wilted piece of what looked like 3 day old Romaine lettuce being suffocated by a handful of wilty, cold french fries. Aron's Brisket Tacos were missing their side of French Fries. I won't even try to describe how badly they tasted. I had been craving a good burger all week, and this was a huge disappointment. I redialed the restaurant, and asked to speak to a manager. I was put on hold, where they basically just set the phone down and walked away. A few minutes later some guy answers, I didn't understand his name, or was so unimpressed by his lackluster greeting that it just didn't register. I asked him "What comes on your OLD FASHIONED BURGER." He told me. Then asked if we were the order from the livingsocial. I said yes, and he put me on hold again to -as he put it -serve a few drinks. He came back to the phone again offered to let me bring the food back, then went to consult the cook. He came back to tell me our request confused the guy, and he could understand why but bring it back and he would fix it. I told him that I was not willing to drive 15 miles back across town, and that I would like to speak to his manager. He said he was the manager on duty. I then asked if I could just be reimbursed. He said he would make that happen, though at this point, I truly believe he was saying whatever he thought I wanted to hear to get me off the phone. I am writing to you of my experience because I wanted to clarify a few things. #1-sites like http://livingsocial.com drive me to discover new businesses that I normally NEVER would have visited. #2-I now have a place to order cakes for any occasion, or cupcakes for fun, I have a regular monthly appointment with a massage therapist, I have eaten at places I never once thought about, because we are all creatures of habit and will cling to the same routine, and I got to fire my old hairstylist, because I LOVE the way this new girl REALLY LISTENS to how I want her to cut my hair. The point is, I am a repeat customer. #3-There is no way I would ever have anything positive to say about the staff, food, or service of Mesquites in Lubbock, TX. If I heard a friend mention it, I would cringe. I do like to tell all my friends and family about the great places I've discovered, and have had several join up as my referrals, or even just visit the locations without a "deal" online. Mesquites, (ewe). So, to http://livingsocial.com... can I please request a refund. I honestly have never felt so unwelcomed at an establishment. About Mesquites in Lubbock... I should have read the online reviews of your restaurant before I bought the voucher from http://livingsocail.com, but you live and you learn. And I am sharing this letter and review with many others. Thank you for your audience,
Melissa

I went there for drinks after dinner, because I was told that the beers were cheap.

The Good:
That day they had $1 beers.
The place was extremely laid back and dive-ey.
The crowd was so lively that you could simply sit back and be entertained.

The Bad:
The place is such a dive bar that it looked like they fished around various garage sales from the 80's to collect their tables, chairs, and bar stools.
It got a little too fratty for my taste as college students inundated the bar with their Polo shirts, pastel shorts, and TTU baseball caps. Girls were definitely falling over themselves to take more shots and express cheers at even the slightest provocation.
The place looks like it was literally constructed from material stolen from construction waste and like they had no idea what building permits were.
I thought the place was going to fall apart when they started playing LMFAO's Shots.

Overall:
Beer was cheap and the entertainment was free. I could see myself making my way back there when I feel like having a rager and going Algernon 3000.
