Those before me have said it, and I have to agree, I love a dog-friendly bar.
We stopped in here on a quiet weeknight, while scoping out the town for apartments before moving up from Phoenix. This atmosphere is something you could never find in Phoenix. It's quiet, it's casual, the bartender was friendly and quick, and, above all else, there's the namesake bar dog. I hope to come back again soon.
AWESOME patio, Pool tables, Dog-friendly & great bartenders. Doesn't serve hot food, but has gas station-esqe food where they serve beer and wine to-go. TO-GO!? Yeah, that's right...so the party never has to end. They have Jazz night, open-mic, and live bands all of the time. Look in the http://www.flaglive.com/… or call ahead and they'll usually let you know what's going on. It's rad...trust me.
Review Source:A 3.5 star south-of-the-tracks dive bar that let's you bring your dog. Good beer selection and decent service. Check the chalk board behind the bar for the daily special on a beer and a booze drink. A back patio for summer time seating and smoking. I give it 4 stars for happy hour to ~8 pm and 3 stars for post 8pm drinking. It tends to get crowded and loud after 8 with the Flag hipster scene. There are live shows and DJ's most nights.
Review Source:Mia's was my first introduction to the Flagstaff bar scene, and I must say, it was quite an agreeable pairing. (Me and Mia. Or Mia and I. Or whatever.)
First off, the blond bartender lady? Super cute, and awesomely friendly. Â The fact that they allow dogs everywhere? Totally sweet, unless you don't like dogs. Â The crowd seems to be a bizarre mix of ironically t-shirted hipsters with heavy-rimmed glasses, frat boys who have wandered off from the brewpubs, middle-aged ex-rockers looking to score a high (or perhaps bathe in the bathroom sink, as my friend witnessed on his trip to the lav), and generally swell people.
We were there on a Wednesday night, whereupon we were treated to an open mike performance that can only be described as "tolerable." Â It was a shame that the hot girl had such a bad voice. Â Then again, perhaps it only added to the experience.
Mia's, if I am ever near your bright neon beacon again, you may be sure that I shall stop in for a drink or three.
Mia's seems like a pretty chill place but what we went for was their wine room. Someone recommended that we go to Mia's and ask for the wine room to pick up a bottle of wine. I wasn't sure what to expect. I guess the owner dabbles in wine and enjoys it.
What I found was that there are a lot of good affordable bottles in Mia's wine room. I was pleasantly surprised.
While walking by the bar I was able to see the selection of beers they had on tap. It was pretty good. So I recommend Mia's for their wine room and their beers on tap. The girl that helped us was very friendly too.
Best bar in Flag for hipsters, non frat oriented college kids, and anyone who likes live music or a good beer. Â My onlycomplaint is I have received some of the worst service from more than a couple bartenders there. Â Sometimes I go there and don't drink because I am not willing to wait to get drink, especially if its not busy. Â One bartender named connie gave my card to someone else and closed my tab. She then blamed me for being too drunk, I had 2 drinks on my tab. I waited till close to see if someone brought my card back or if there was an extra one at the end of the night. The person brought my card back, I didn't even get an appology. Â I will not go to this bar if she is working.
Review Source:I wasn't expecting to pay so much for club soda, I think the grumpy bartenders could give a better price for designated drivers and for the wait. I do love that Mia's is a dog-friendly place, has good music & offers pool. The place gets really packed and @ times I think they let too many people in...it was really hard to make it to an exit just to leave the place...
Review Source:nice spacious bar/lounge/venue with a patio, stage, pool tables and significant off-premise beer selection. very reasonable prices. Â friendly yet somewhat tragic hipster clientele. music was erratic in a bad way (coltrane straight into prince?). i dont know if it was a jukebox or not. Â
i hope the bartender was just having a terrible night. it was clear that he didnt want to be there at all. Â bartenders in places like this should at least be a little friendly, if not simply outstanding. cheer up buddy.
awesome little spot!! smoking patio, pool tables, lots of room for dancing! Â a group of us were visiting flag for the weekend and spent a night drinking here, and heard that before 9pm youre even allowed to bring your dogs! the beer prices were a little high (hence the four stars instead of five) but it was a fun time and a great place to hang out!
Review Source:Mia's was so cool!
I was heartily surprised to find such a great place in Flagstaff, it is reminiscent of some of my favorite bars in the NW, the atmosphere is very exuberant and everyone seems to be overly mirthful, whether on the back patio smoking and chatting away, getting buzzed and playing some billiards, cutting a rug on the dance floor, or simply stoned at the bar guzzling some tasty brew- everyone in the place was happy to be there. And this I was told was on a slow night! I cant imagine how fund it'd be to experience M.I.A.'s (as i kept calling it "slam! galang galang galang") on one of their peak nights!
The beer was so cheap as well, $2 for a pabst 12 oz can! My friends kept it a little classy and got beers on tap while I slammed my 3 cans of Pabst in quick fashion.
When it came time to go, the dreadie mama bartender had only charged me for one!! I tipped her a healthy tip and felt pretty great to start the evening in Flag at Mia's. This Phoenician was quite pleased I must say, I'd love to come back any and every time I'm up north.
We didn't get here until LATE on Sunday night, on the advice of a bartender at Monte Vista Cocktail Lounge (which we loved).
The place is big, has a large stage, and an outdoor patio (if you like frostbite, no heaters here). I will have to visit again before midnight to review properly. I assume the band makes the experience here, without one it's a little dull. I should also mention that they do have a LOT of good beers on tap.
Bonus: We met a drunken Indian who was entertaining for about an hour.
This place is the tits...
They have a killin beer selection with select belgium nuggets like Delirium Nocturnum on tap, an array of IPA's and some serious stouts.
They have a great room and a nice stage that brings through local, regional, and national acts. Â It's located right off the main drag of Flag, so parking isn't a nightmare, but close enough you can get your walk on.
Everytime I play here, there seems to be a pack of dogs running around inside having fun, which I find to be quite cool, cause I love dogs, and I love establishments that are cool with pets.
Everytime I go to flag, I hit this place up, even if I'm playing somewhere else.
You must go here.
Apparently this place used to be a shitty club that none of my friends liked. I'm glad I missed those times because Mia's was awesome this past weekend.
The live bands were decent. Somewhat on the punk rock side, which was perfect for our group.
The bartenders were quick and efficient. Beers on tap were impressive. I had some Nimbus Monkeyshine, which I have never seen on tap outside Tucson.
Patio out back past the stage/bathrooms was big. Very nice for my tobacco inclined compadres.
When back in town I would definitely come back to Mia's for drinks and general good times.
On the ashes of the Bro Bar Boardwalk, came the bar phoenix known as Mia's.
Amazing selection of beers, incredibly friendly staff, an awesome outdoor area, and the usual staple of "meh" bands equals out to one of the best bars in Flagstaff.
I will go here time and time again, and I hope they never leave.
Flagstaff is a frequent stop on my travels for many reasons, Â I often travel to Phoenix or make the occasional drive to Vegas. Â It is also where my Brother lives and he frequents Mia's Lounge because of the type of people who flock there. Â I find the lounge to be very laid back and I can enjoy myself while trying to determine just how bad the band is. Â I am a fan of local music so not a complaint rather just a statement for the uninformed :). Â Now what I particularly enjoy about Mia's is the quality of people I tend to meet there, and.... the beer. Â They actually serve Mirror Pond Pale Ale here, as well as a good variety of other mircro brews. Â So if you are into live music, great people and great drinks give Mia's a try.
Review Source:I first visited Mia's when it was the Boardwalk. Â Back then, it was absolutely not my style. Â I'm not into clubs, after hour parties, or anything excessively loud, but agreed to go despite my reservations. Â I hated it.
While in Flagstaff awhile back, I saw that Boardwalk had closed down. Â During my most recent visit, walking up San Francisco with a couple of friends, we noticed that it was the only place open that wasn't thumping with house music and decided to wander in. Â Mia's has done many nice things with the space and given it a great loungey feel without holding any Scottsdalesque pretension. Â Despite a bad cover band playing, it wasn't too loud. Â The patio space is lovely and the staff friendly.
Best part: Cider. Â Not just any cider, but inexpensive and delicious cider.
The crowd inside and on the patio were radically different and I was equally comfortable in both areas. Â Inside were mainly straight-laced (and straight) couples, or sorority girls playing pool in short skirts. Â The patio felt like a completely different establishment, full of the usual Flagstaff riffraff. Â You have the pseudo rich hippies, the kids who desperately need a shower and deodorant, the occasional frat kid, the queer kids... It was a nice, laid back mix of people who seemed to just want to hang out, have a beer, and enjoy the weather.
Three cheers for Mia's.
