This place is pretty dang fun. They serve good beers out of Mason jars and the best part is that they have live turtle races. You bet on a turtle, the turtles run (or, well walk slowly) and if your turtle wins, you get a beer deal (or maybe it was a free beer, I forget, I was kind of drunk.) It's a good time and people are pretty funny. Haven't eaten here, though.

I came here one Thursday night and the first thing that caught my attention were their 32oz beers served in...none other than..Mason Jars! I'm in love with mason jars and I have tons at home but when I see a restaurant serve their drinks in them, I just want my drink to come in one. So my friend and I both ordered one.

The overall atmosphere was nice. It was pretty empty on the main floor. On our way out we saw the stairs heading upstairs so we went up. There's an opening to the main level from the roof and it's nice and breezy upstairs.

This is a review of the private upstairs room for our wedding rehearsal dinner in May 2013.

I recently got married and our guests were all staying in PB, and we wanted a restaurant within walking distance from the Best Western that had a private room to accommodate between 50-100 guests. We walked around for hours looking at restaurants and eventually decided on Miller's Field, and we are so glad we did!! I'd recommend this place to anyone looking to hold a private event!

    Pros:
The Service: we didn't expect much from a sports bar, but everyone treated us like royalty from the time we first visited (gave us pints, on them), to our food tasting (complimentary, with more pints), to the actual rehearsal dinner. Everyone, including the manager, the chef and all the waiters/bartenders were so professional and treated us so well that we were shocked at the service! Can't say enough about how this enhanced our experience.

The Food: Wow! Again, weren't expecting much from a sports bar, but the head chef, Silvano, can cook anything! We tasted Mexican food and Italian food for our tasting, and ultimately went with Italian. You can really customize your own menu, so we went with lasagna, chicken parm, garlic bread, pasta, veggies, and salad (served in an edible parmesan basket!), which were are just incredible. We were blown away, especially considering the price, which leads me to my next point...

The Value: The cost for 50 people for a salad, two entrees and two sides, plus open bar for three hours, plus tax and tip...was less than $3,000. This is unheard of. We considered booking our rehearsal dinner at the Catamaran, and there was a $4,000 minimum and the food was mediocre. This was an amazing value and we came in way under our budget.

The Flexibility: To class it up, the managers said we could bring in our own decorations. We brought in some table runners, mason jars with flowers, set up a head table with pictures, brought our own dessert (at no extra charge), hooked up our own iPod music to their sound system, used their mic for a quick speech....basically they offered whatever we needed and let us bring in whatever we wanted. So accommodating!

The Room: beautiful open space with a partial ocean view. We were worried about the noise from the main restaurant below, but it wasn't an issue at all. You get a private bar, private entrance and private bathrooms (from the main restaurant). We had 50 people and it was very spacious for a seated dinner, and then we had about 100 people total for drinks and it was still spacious enough because most people were standing in the bar area.

Can't say enough good things about our experience at Miller's Field! Will definitely be coming back!

Change if heart this place is rad. The overly aggressive security guard has since left, and my faith in this place has been restored.

We were here for a rehearsal dinner, so I didn't experience the loud crowd the others reviews mentioned. The food was surprisingly delicious! We had a variety so I was able to sample a bit of everything.

Still one of my favorite bars in San Diego! All the bartenders are super friendly and will engage you and strike up convos when they aren't slammed. They always have a great variety of standard and specialty drinks and there is never a day without a special!

Best place to watch sports as they are friendly to all teams and have enough TV's where you can usually request your game on at least one of them. Always look forward to coming in here and seeing friendly faces...pretty much the Cheers of the beach!

This place is great especially on a warm summer day!!! The upstairs patio is pretty great but on Monday nights its pretty crazy here!

They have 2 levels but you have to wait in lines to go upstairs when it's busy.

The food is actually pretty good I was actually very impressed with it and would recommend the burgers and fries!
There's no real place to dance just drink and socialize but its really nice durning the day, just to enjoy the warm air.
The bar tenders are chill and good looking too!

I have to give this place 5 stars for the food.  AMAZING.  Try the pretzel bites, omg...then try the claim chowder so gourmet.  We also enjoyed the jambalaya pizza, the chef is hot, hot, hot when it comes to making food.  We are older and didn't fit in about 10 pm when the flood of younger people arrived.  We thought this was a cool sports bar, we expected nothing less-hello it's a sports bar.  Service was great too!

Walking by at happy hour and later it is fun to watch the drunks either tumbling into the bar or tumbling out, and you can watch the tv's through the windows separating you from the animals packed inside.  From outside it looks like a blender full of anchovies before you push the button.

We've had their food back at the hotel and it was ok, nothing special.

It's time for a round of San Diego reviews. The first stop is Miller's Field, which is an average sports bar, with above average food, and a below average crowd.

    Let's break it down:

Average Sports Bar: 3 stars. It's your typical sports bar. It's what bar owners think your average sports fan wants in a sport bar. But in reality, it's what your average San Diego Neanderthal and floozy want in a sports bar.

Above Average Food: 4 stars. Surprisingly, the food is here is legit. The chips & salsa, hot wings, and ahi tuni salad were all delicious. It seemed as if the dishes were been teleported from another facility. But in reality, it was just coming from some highly talented Mexican chefs in the back.

Below Average Crowd: 2 stars. Please take note that this joint is in PB. So you get your typical boneheads with backwards caps and white sunglasses that wonder why women will not give them the time of day, and half naked bottle blondes with high pitched voices and eating disorders that wonder why men do not take them seriously. They think their appearance is desirable, when in reality it's a repellant for anyone with an IQ over 79.

Average score: 3 stars. I would come here for an early dinner and a drink, and then bounce before the the crowd comes. Just kidding. It's in PB, so I would avoid this place altogether.

    3.5

I gave it a little boost with the .5 because when I head to PB I know ahead of time what kind of crowd to expect and that doesn't necessarily mean different places in the area should suffer for it.

From 6pm to about 9pm on a Monday, I say, right on! Every minute that ticks by after that, the rating goes lower but that's more to the crowd and less to the actual bar.

The menu has lots of options and the pork sandwich I ordered was tasty - lots of meat that wasn't dry and not too much sauce. Our bartender/server was very friendly, seemed to know about every person that walked through the door and on top of filling up our drinks even when things got busier.

The location is a block from the beach with lots of tvs to catch a game (that's why we were there), and the beers come in barrel mugs, which I thought was cute. Not sure if you're supposed to use "beer" and "cute" in the same sentence, but there you go.

We also played a bit of trivia which was entertaining and had it not been for the annoying people surrounding me (How many times can you use bro AND dude in one sentence?!) then I probably would've stayed longer.

Just wanted some late lunch and i keep getting hassled to start a tab when I'm constantly paying for every drink with cash to the same waitress. When i give her a card she disappears... You cant get beer or alcohol wrong which is why im here once darkness falls but other than that, forget it.

Not that crazy about this place... To me it seemed like a relocation of Tru North but with a bigger floor plan. This is a cool spot but all you can really do is socialize and drink... There's no room to cut*a*rug... did I just show my age? Hahaha!

Okay forget what I just stated (LOL). This spot looks and sounds great from the outside looking in but once you're inside that's all it is which is just music and socializing. Clear the checker board area and you'll have a dance floor which may be slippery so scratch that idea.

Best place to watch sports in PB. I love the Oakland A's, and they were the only bar to show all of there playoff games. They have every sprots event playing every night. The food here is not bad, not great either. Come here if you are in PB and want to catch a good game with decent drinks,

Came to millers with two of my friends on Sunday and found out that they have bottomless mimosas till 2, awesome when not expected! Our bartender "up stairs" Priscilla was a hidden gem , super super nice we will definitely be back to see her !!!

It looks really nice from the outside, you can tell that they put a lot of work into this bar to make it different than most sports bar.
The only thing they couldve done to make different was their customer service here!
I walked in and I didnt know that we had to be carded, so I got chased down by a meat head who rudely asked to check my ID let alone he said, "you dont hear three guys asking to check your ID?" (These guys were tuck in the corner playing patti cake with one another, so I couldnt spot these assholes)

So far, I went from being hyped to being ready to not lend my money to this bar. I went upstairs and it was pretty small. The music was overly loud upstairs and I had to yell my orders aggressively to the bartender and to my friends. That alone just made me want to shut the fuck up and just drink. The bar didnt have most the drinks I asked for, apparently they ran out of Don Julio and the bartender was nice when she had your attention but when she was busy trying to calculate her tips, she gave no fucks.

Overall, customer service was Ok. I would come back, but only to stay downstairs and not when those asshole meatheads arent there.

More bathrooms!  The line was ridiculous.  I haven't eaten here, but I came for drinks late one night and its a decent place.  Lots of TVs, it was clean....pretty much just your slightly better than average PB bar.  I'll give it a 4th star for that, I'd rather watch a game here than a few other bars around PB.

I was definitely out of my element here! I could care less about sports so the atmosphere was just pure noise to me. If you come here, be prepared to be around very intense and rowdy "bros". Not my style but whatever floats your boat. The food was decent (veggie burger) but I've definitely had better and the scantily clad waitress/bartender could have been a bit more friendlier to my female friend and I. All in all, your typical sports bar in PB.

In my opinion, the one thing that separates a good sports bar from a bad one is the FOOD.  Miller's has it all, lots of TVs, plenty of seating, stiff drinks and good food!  YAY!!!  Finally a sports bar that caters to food lovers.  I had the pizza and a Cobb salad, and I have to say I was impressed.  Don't expect gourmet food here, but it is tasty and good quality.  Football + good food....so you CAN have your cake and eat it too.  Thanks Miller's!

Pretty good eats here, nothing too special.

pretty average in terms of quality of food. maybe a bit more.

Great selection of beers on tap, and bottled.

this place is always packed! for any game anytime..

as for the staff, the girls and guys working here do a great job to give you the best service possible.. Tip well!

Drinks are served in Large Mason Jars which adds to the ambiance.

What more can I say about Miller's...

    Classic, Friendly, Noisy and Fun.

posted a quick tip here a bit ago...clean bathrooms are a huge plus so i'll just start with that.

This place is good if you're trying to stand and drink or sit and drink if you're lucky to get a table.  The place is big but still fills up just about all the time.  Great spot for catching a game because there are tvs every where.  They serve some beers in mason jars which is cool and different from a lot of spots in PB.  lots of dudes, looooots of dudes who will probably buy you drinks.

I was there with my wife and brother and his wife and their 17 year old daughter to eat some bar food, have a few beers and watch game 3 of the Giants/Tigers World Series game (we are Tiger fans).  The food was good- Chorizo Burger- and the service was also good until toward the end.  It was what happened after the game was over that makes me write this review.

You need to know that we are in our 40's- professionals who like to have fun.  But it was clear that the younger crowd here was getting all fired up and without any provocation at all, a butthead dressed like Steve Perry (it was Halloween weekend), came up to my brother and started hassling him about the game.   Not a good idea as my brother is about 6'1" and 280#'s and I am a "small" guy at 6'1" 230.   They wanted to fight, until we stood up, and told them it wasn't a goo idea.  As we walked out we got hassled all the way out.   Fun is one thing but come on!

We had read reviews that this was a tesosterone filled place and that is exactly right.   Drunk twenty somethings who have something to prove.  There are lots of other places to go in PB- avoid this one!

Really was just like any other bar in PB.  Had lot's of annoying drunk Oakland A's fans.
However the service was fantastic from a short dark haired bartender who had lot's of tattoo's.  She was awesome and on top of everything.  She told us about some $5 taco plate deals that we tried and they were good.  (not great, just decent but for $5 I'll take it!)
Wasn't really a place I'd run back too.  But wouldn't avoid it either...just kind of mehh!

    Way too rowdy...

Come here if you're a guy and want to get into a fight.

    This place is 90% guys.

Beligerent drunk guys is what you'll find here during a charger game showing.

Way too packed, can't move around without bumping into another guy, can't even get through to the bar to order a drink.

Only positive = free 2 hour parking with any purchase.

A great place to watch a game as long as it's not too late in the evening.

If you go in the middle of the afternoon the service is great and the tv screens make it an ideal viewing location. The mason jars of beer are pretty much always on special and make for a great deal.

Try the massive cobb salad and you will not be disappointed.

At night it is packed and smells terrible but it is a typical college bar so if that is what you are going for then this is your place.

The new Miller's rewards card is a great idea for frequent customers.

Really cool spot. This was my first stop off the bus, once I finally caught the right one. My fellow Yelpers did a great job with this one. Well, the ones that actually liked this place.

Location is excellent, right across the street from PB and around the corner from all the other craziness. Wide open kind of space with an enclosed patio facing the street. The bar sits right in the middle and there are plenty of seats. And TVs. Oh, and the TVs are abundant! Got here in time for the 2nd half of most of the Saturday morning College games. Mason jar of domestic drafts for $5 was a pretty good deal. Quiet refreshing after my trek all over DTSD. Good food options as well with pretty decent prices, considering the location and venue. I had to get a burger and the gratuitous SD staple.... Tater Tots! Burger cooked perfectly.

The bartendress was very nice. She even let us know where some cool spots to hit up at PB as well as heading down to MB were . Cool chicky. Oh, and the island brothers watching the door were pretty cool too. This is definitely a place we'll come back to when we're back in the area.

    BIG burritos! Unique and tasty!
Buffalo chicken sandwich was good. Fries were average.

Service was fine, nothing special or super speedy.

I liked the layout. The wrap around bar with built in tables was cool. Some booths are more private and others are more open. A variety none the less.

They could definitely use some more craft beer options.
Beach is one block away, and you can't really see it like others mentioned.

Overall I give it a 4 because we enjoyed our food and the time we spent there.
Wasn't busy at all at 3pm on a Friday. This would be a great place to watch a game or 2, with all the TV's they have up.

I grew up in New Hampshire, drinking everything out of a mason jar. It's pretty rare to see a West Coast bar serving beer in them, so when I do see it, you KNOW I'm ordering at least one of those bad boys. It's $10 for an enormous jar of Fat Tire.

Miller's has tons of big TVs, pretty good food, two floors, and the top level is partially open to the outdoors. There's a little nook at the end of the bar upstairs that you can slide into and do some premium people watching/creepin' on the folks below. It's captivating.

Why so few bathroom stalls for the ladies? There's one super small stall, and then one Handicapped one I could do cartwheels in. Booo.

This place is really big with an upstairs and downstairs including a small patio. They have a ton of large screen tvs to watch all the big games on. That said, when there is a game going on, be prepared for it to be packed. Either get there early or choose somewhere else to go.

Drinks: full bar w/ lots of specials and happy hour is a good deal. They serve their beer in mason jars.

Food: it's pretty diverse-pizza, sandwiches, burgers, pasta, apps, Mexican, salads. All pretty good.

If you're not in the mood for a ton of people and loud music, Tuesday is a great day to go grab a meal. Most PBers are out for Taco Tuesday and since MF doesn't have an extensive Mexican food menu, they go elsewhere leaving the place more empty than usual. They do have specials for Taco Tues though. Even some food items that aren't normally on their menu.

Great place to meet up with a large groups of friends since a lot of their tables are long and are bar level so people can stand. Also good for meeting people if you're in that kind of mood too.

My man and I used to go to Miller's Field to watch UFC, and honestly it was pretty cool, but insanely crowded (Now we go to Longboards).  We just went there yesterday (sunday) morning at 9am to watch some March Madness and it was fairly empty.  They serve breakfast which was awesome also.  The Huevos Rancheros are the bomb and my friend liked his breakfast burrito....steak and eggs, not so much.  The food for lunch/dinner is ok too, nothing special, but good food for a bar, I would recommend their burrito.  The waitresses have always been nice and cute too.  I'd definitely recommend Miller's Field, but get there EARLY for whatever event you're going for.  It gets PACKED!

Another note, there are TONS of huge TVs everywhere you look.  They usually show multiple games on at once so this can be a little annoying if you go there for a particular game and you can't find a seat near that TV.  Also the sound that is played is for whatever event is the most well known, but that's to be expected.

One word. Awesome. The food is great. They have a million tv's so if you like sports you can watch just about any game or event thats playing at the time simultaneously.
At night they play good music so its a good place to ride out the entire night or pregame. Love this place.

I've been here a couple times. Maybe it's because I don't really follow sports, but I really don't know what the big deal about this place is. Why does everyone always want to come here? The food and drinks are not cheap. The establishment comes off as laid-back, but their prices are not.

Beer selection is lacking. And again, not cheap for so-so beer. Place honestly doesn't give me much of an impression. Very forgettable.

What the heck is up with all these 3-4 star reviews!!! I love this place and spend hours here. Let me just say that the staff treats their customers like family and the food is AMAZING considering  that it's a sports bar. My friends will tell you...im not much of a pizza person, but I LOVE their pizza. I always order the pepperoni with jalapenos. Their ahi salad is so fresh and delicious, you would never know you were in a bar. I always get impeccable service here and my tummy's always happy. There isn't much I can say, besides"This place is my Cheers!"
NOTE: Perfect place to celebrate your birthday...I did for my 32nd and probably my 33rd....

Remember college? All the patrons at Miller's do too. It's literally like they never left... like collegiate Peter Pan syndrome. Not to say that there is anything wrong with that, since I too am clinging fastidiously to my youth before my complexion fashions itself into looking like a moldy fig or a goblet of oatmeal.

The crowd is rather homogeneous from a editorial standpoint . The dress code is lax - the drinks are moderately priced - the cover is non-existant and the bros are a-plenty. I guess if you're 25 and trying to relive your pre-beer gut days of yesteryear, you can successfully do so at Miller's. It's a fantastic place to meet up with your bros and hoes, or meet new ones. The lighting is pretty fucking fluorescent, so you don't have to worry about misguidedly executing your perfunctory sexual advances on 'Grenades'. And it isn't a club, so you won't worry about turning people off with your stripper-robot dance moves.

All-in-all it's one of the more tolerable pb drinky joints. Be sure to bring your NFL t-shirt finest if you really want to fit-in.

Fan of Miller's for a couple reasons:

    1. Beer can be ordered in large mason jars. Forgive my appreciation of kitsch, but I just like the feel ok?

    2. Great bar to just kick it with some friends while enjoying aforementioned beer in mason jars and eating some bar food.

There's lots of seating here, which I like, and if you're feeling cool and adventurous you can even go upstairs (!) and I dunno, exist upstairs if you wish. I've always been treated nicely here, gotten prompt service, and enjoyed my visits.

This is another great all American sports bar located right in the heart of PB.  This is a great Sunday Funday spot, and during football season, fans will congregate here.. trust me, it gets CRAY CRAY!  There are a good number of TVs, so I'm sure you'll find your team playing on at least one of them.  There's not much of a dance floor, but if you're looking for a chill place to grab a drink and hang out, Miller's Field is the spot for you.  Their large beers come in these large jars.. I guess it's an economic way of re-using an old pickle jar :P

I'm not a huge fan of the food.. or the waitress that served us for that matter.  She seriously would not SHUT UP!  It's nice to check up on your table every so often, but she came by every 5 minutes - no joke.  Every time, she would sit down and have a full on conversation with us.  Total over kill.....

Overall, it's a solid place for drinking, so yay I'm a fan!
