Society Billiards & Cafe

Have always sucked woefully hard at pool.
This place will be my comeuppance...Or something.
Can it still be my comeuppance if I've yet to win a game here?

Unlike it's Asian counterparts in Kearny Mesa, this pool hall is clean and doesn't stink of cigarette smoke and desperation. Color me jazzed.

Great place to shoot a few rounds of pool, sip a drink...or three, and chill to the jukebox and just man the f*ck out. Makes me want to grow a beard...like...more so than usual.

Lovely staff, a strong beer lineup, and easy on the wallet. You can't go wrong.

I came into Society on a Thursday as soon as they opened at noon with one of my best friends. I actually was planning on going to the bar across the street, but we noticed a huge sign outside of Society that read something like '"12pm-7pm Free Pool Play with $10 purchase of drinks". So we had a choice to sit around and drink, or play pool while we drink. Well, we obviously picked coming here because it seemed more fun.

So we came in and it was empty. We literally had the place to ourselves from noon to 3pm. I have to say, it was AWESOME! We had the Jukebox to ourselves, we could be as loud as we wanted to without people staring us down like were a bunch of crazies, and the bartender was very attentive.

The drinks were made perfect and I really liked the service we got from the female bartender. She was super nice and even came over to grab our cups and get us refills while we played pool, so that we didn't have to get up from our game to walk to the bar.

Overall the experience was excellent for coming here for the first time. We will definitely be back when we have days off and feel like drinking and playing pool.

With free pool 'til 7 p.m. every day (as long as each person spends $10), how can you not love and appreciate this pool hall? Well, unless of course you don't play pool, but then again who the eff doesn't?!

I never knew amazing quality professional pool tables could survive in such good condition so close to the beach with all the drunkards wanting to play pool, drink, and rage all the time. I've played on quite a few (hundred, probably) pool tables and these ones definitely impress me. After 7 p.m. is it worth the amount they charge? I think so, but the best deal really is the one they offer during the day.

The service here is usually great, and for as long as I've been going to Society, I haven't had any problems.

My only complaint is that on Friday or Saturday nights they get way too busy to accommodate me, but hey, what can I expect? Why wouldn't a place like this be crackin' like that?!
