My family has lived in Missoula for many generations, and I have only been here once! Weird. But anywho, this is your typical college/regulars bar and grub place that has you order at the front and occupy yourself with pool while you wait for your food to come out on paper plates. Reasonably priced and made to order right in front of you, this place is pretty great to go to.
Review Source:Okay, so we have lived in Missoula for 34 years and this is the second time we have been to the MoClub. Â However, it will not be our last.
We were downtown and decided to grab a bite to eat. Â Since hamburgers are typically ten bucks any more, we decided to see what the ones were like at the MOClub. Â Delicious! Â Hand formed patty, with horseradish cheese, big onion (which is worth a star on it's own) and a few pickles. Â That's it. Â And it was $5.00
I brought half of mine home and am having it for lunch today. Â The best part of the MoClub (after the burgers) were listening to the old men who are sitting around a table talking about the basketball and football team as if they were personal friends. "I knew when Katie took that shot....." Â "If he would have only done....."
This community seems to consider local sports teams as their own family. Â And their role as personal advisers to the coaches. Â Fun to hear. Â Good food. Â Try it.

I've been to "The Mo Club" about 200 times in my life and the experience is consistent. Â Every visit to Missoula means at least one visit here. Â Order a pitcher of PBR and a hot-pepper cheeseburger and bring somebody to talk with. Â Sit at the bar or post up by the jukebox and just take things in. Â It's not flashy. Â Don't order expensive booze or dial up a daquiri. Â Maybe get your haircut next door afterwards.
Review Source:this place is pretty darn cool lots of old sports pic on the wall. super good burgers and cold beer. whats not to love..it is a cash only place but does have a atm if you don't have cash. this was another small mob attack by about 10 of us and these guys never missed a beat and serviced up great food and and drinks. the menu is small i think they only have burgers no fries or anything..
how ever small the menu is the burgers were old of this world good.
ps get a few fireball shots while you are in here!!!
If you don't like this place then you prob. need to pull the stick out ur butt!! and bring ur nose down a bit.
A place that's far, far more than the sum of its parts, to coin a cliche.
The parts are not super attractive, on the face of it. There's a beautiful old pressed tin ceiling, and, mounted through it are a dozen fluorescent fixtures. The overall effect of the lighting is akin to being in a tired old pet store that hasn't been making much money since, oh, the Ford Administration. So keep that in mind when you walk in, 'cause the place is still really cool.
In addition to the 100+ year old ceiling and the 50+ year old light fixtures, there's some fake pine paneling that's only about 40 years old, and then there's a sweet old barback that's probably on its third century (19th, 20th, 21st...). Not the fanciest barback in town, but still home to drinks served to countless generations of, well, just about anybody who ever passed through western Montana, including President Clinton and his Secret Service detail. There's a photo of Slick Willie chowing down on a Mo Club burger, with a bunch of UM frat boys mugging behind him. Yeah, he ate the burger AFTER the heart surgeries. Sorry, doc, if he's been telling you differently.
Those burgers really are what they're known for. They're delicious, though very simple-looking. There's a steady stream of beer and liquor flying over the bar, especially after a Griz win, like this weekend.
I'd recommend coming in by the front, so as to avoid looking into or smelling the men's room.
The most backwoods, dude-filled dive bar ever. Both bartenders (one of whom was the cook) were (I'm pretty sure) drunk & (I'm 100% sure, I saw it) drinking, burger was oily and overpriced, and we never got the beer we ordered. We were expecting a fight at any moment and pretty sure we could have left without paying.
Went late on a weekday night, not much else was open and we were starving from being on the road for hours.
It's a bar bar. Â It has your standard mass produced bar brews. Â It has bar food. Â The burger is greasy and flavorless. Â Just what a belly that has drank too much Miller Lite needs. Â Not my kinda place, but I'm sure it is for some people. Â Try it out, make your own decision, but I won't be back unless I'm already blackout drunk and someone else has carried me over there to sober up at the MC counter instead of their own couch.
Review Source:This was another stop on the cross country burger quest. Â They say they are open until 2:00 AM, but the grill closes before that. Â This is a college town bar after all. Â So when I arrived after 12 hours of driving, i was disapointed. Â They open at 8:00 AM so we went back. Â Blessing in disguise. Â We enjoyed a quiet time with the owner, hade the Double with pepper cheese and spicey mustard, onion and pickle. Â Chased it with Moose Drool (local stout). Â The meat was amazingly fresh and the burger was fantastic. Â This is a great place to enjoy a burger. Â If you are there for the burger, make it a breakfast. Â The staff is incredibly friendly with great stories.
Review Source:By far the Mo' Club has me always coming back for their simplicity. Â The greasy burgers with a slice of horseradish cheese and a nice cold beer or 3, ahhh Mo' please! Â It's not for the "hoity toity" it is a dive, but a dive after my own heart. Â I avoid it on super crowded nights and opt to go during the week usually.
Review Source:The Missoula "Mo" Club is a tradition before and after sporting events that has been going on for as long as I can remember and probably longer than people my dads age can remember. Yes, it is true the place isn't very nice, from the lighting to the layout of the place and the bathrooms, however there is history here that you cannot replace. The pictures on the wall from local sports teams from back when they wore leather football helmets up to recent teams. The burgers are great tasting, I have never seen and plate with a partially eaten burger left, the beer is cheap and they have plenty of options, the staff is friendly and the crowd is as well as long as the home team didn't lose. This isn't a place I would take a date unless you are ready to drinks some beers and she is down to wear a foot ball jersey and paint her face, then she will probably love this place.
Review Source:If you must patronize do the following
1. Go in. Order a burger and beer.
2. As you enjoy both, listen in on one or two conversations. Note that they are sports-oriented.
3. Think to yourself "Hey, this place is really uncomfortably crowded."
4. Leave
One need only do this once.
It is true, that this is a Missoula institution. But there are far better places to grab either a drink or a meal.
I'll agree that they have some of the best burgers anywhere but the MoClub is very crowd specific. Â Its FAR too bright late in the evening. Â Probably not a big deal if you start out there but plan on being blinded if you're bar hopping. Â Parking garage is right across the street so it does have that going for it.
Review Source:Best bar in town. Â They have the cutest bartenders, the coldest beer and burgers that taste as good at lunch as they do at midnight! Â The lights stay on no matter what time it is, but even that can't diminish the quality times we've spent bellied up to the bar drinking a beer! Â The place is crazy at Homecoming and at Maggotfest and you have to make a stop at the Mo when you come to town!
