I went to lunch with my mom at Mojave Cantina yesterday. Here's the breakdown:
The good: The tortilla soup was FANTASTIC. So yummy. Well worth the $2 upcharge. Seriously - I could have had a bowl of that and been satisfied. Â
The decor was nice. They had a lunch menu. The chips were hot and yummy. The waiter refilled my water without me asking. The prices were very reasonable.
The bad: The food was kind of...bland. I like a little kick to my Mexican food (not a ton, but a little heat isn't a bad thing). The salsa was homemade. It was smoky and blah. The chicken in my burrito was also lacking spice. Â I added hot sauce to almost everything, which helped.
I think they've still got a few bugs to work out. I'll give them a try in a few months and see if things improve.
Not the best...mediocre but this place has so much potential, and  we locals keep returning because we want so badly for them to succeed!  We've given them 3 shots. Drinks have always been good.  The food is bland in my opinion. The refried beans have NO seasoning. I picked up my tacos and water literally poured out of them. Made me wonder if they start with frozen chicken and  microwave it.  There's not a black bean to be found in many of the dishes. (would be a great addition to their salad along with some corn , avacado, and cilantro).  We will probably return simply because it's close, and it's Mexican, but I'm hoping they find some  good authentic recipes and spice 'em up. On a positive note: the salsas were excellent.
