Love the Movie Tavern. Food is good, drinks are even better! Nice to be waited on and have dinner and a movie at the same time! Service is friendly and seats are comfortable. Only removed a star for the water (comes in small styrofoam cups now, instead of an actual glass) and the popcorn is hit or miss.

The theater and tables are dirty, and the food is horrible.

An interesting and different experience for movie watching. It's pretty cool how a restaurant/ bar is incorporated, making it more than just a theater. Their grilled cheese sandwiches are much more than cheese and bread. It has an unexpected kick of flavor! Aside from that the service is pretty good.

I really like the Movie Tavern, cheap matinees for $5 and the food is better than just bar food. I also enjoy having an alcoholic beverage with my meal. The service is ok, a little spotty sometimes. Sometimes it is good and other times it is like they forgot you were there. If you get there 15 or 20 minutes early it works best because the lights are up and you can see to look at the menu and the wait staff has time to take your order and get your order out to you just in time for the previews.. The high back chairs on wheels with the long bar are a little weird but they are more comfotable than the theater type chair with the tiny tables, Over all my experiences have been good and I will continue to go to the Movie Tavern.

We have been to the Movie Tavern a lot. My son and I love to go to movies together. At Movie Tavern I can eat lunch, enjoy some decent food, have a beer or other beverage IF i want, and still enjoy my little one's company. He loves the big desk style chairs, the light you turn on to request your server, and the different sort of atmosphere. It's almost never crowded, and the ticket prices are good.
TODAY, however, we had an exceptional time. We got there just as the movie we wanted to see was supposed to be starting. The lady taking our tickets directed us to "theater one" which had 2 different movies listed. One was ours. We found a completely empty theater. We sat down. My son kept asking when it would start as I had told him we might be late. Our server came and took our order. Not one minute later the manager came in and asked if we were there to see the kid's movie or another, rather adult movie. (the server must have alerted him) I said the kid's movie. He apologized profusely after I told him the ticket lady directed us there, and he hustled us to the other theater. The previews were still on, but he had told us if the movie had already started he would give us some free tickets to come back and watch the whole thing. He also went and changed our order to the other server and told them which seats we were in. He came back and checked with us to make sure our order was served and correct. And he apologized again. VERY very good service. Had he not taken the time, my son may have seen some scenes I didn't want him to see instead of enjoying a nice kid's movie.

The concept for the place is an AWESOME idea. Restaurant/Bar style movie theater? If you have never been, it is worth the experience.

Word to the wise, get there early, you want to make sure you are eating by the time the movie starts. Their service has a tendency to be a little slower than normal, especially when you order drinks from the bar.

One thing that I do like is people don't give the servers a hard time while walking back and forth during the movie, this is a part of the culture of the theater.

Prices are reasonable, catching a matinee would be in your best interest, similar to any other movie theater.

One thing that would be AWESOME is if they had happy hour specials during the matinee showings, I am sure this would increase traffic and sales.

We came back to use my free movie ticket for joining their Club. We came for an early movie. One other couple sat right behind us and ordered food.

While watching our movie, I noticed the sound of the movie next door. Also, a server (not ours) came in twice and opened a drawer to restock napkins. Seriously? Did she really have to do that during our movie?

I don't know if we'll be back.

Great food at a great price with first run movies. Matinees are $5 and only a couple $$ more for evening prices. The service is good too. The only thing I might change would be that the seats are not as comfortable as I might like.

The food is crappy, mostly fried frozen foods that are much worse than the average bar food. The chairs are the same as in your office and the screens and sound systems are dated. The staff is nice and very friendly.

All that said, I still do come here on occasion with the kids, just not often.

Don't go when it is crowded if you want to eat. Two weeks in a row the food took over 45 minutes to arrive. The order was not correct and cold when it arrived...Other than food, it's okay.

I went to Movie Tavern for the first time recently. This was my first experience at a dine in movie theatre and I have to say I overall enjoyed it. The other dine in theaters I've checked out charge a steep price up front, but these tickets were relatively cheap and you have the option to pay more if you want food. It was nice being able to get food and refills on drinks without missing any of the movie. My only gripe is that it's kind of hard to eat things like nachos in the dark!

All in all I enjoyed myself and got some delish/cheap wine and some awesome fried pickles. The theatre was fine and the chairs were comfy- the patrons when I went were super nice & quiet. The bartender gave me a weird vibe but it could have been the things we were discussing- not exactly tame if ya know what I mean. The website says to arrive 45 mins early which we did and we had to wait another 25 mins for it to actually be cleaned so that was kinda of a bummer but the mgmt was super nice and I would definitely go back again. The service was great & for a movie, 2 glasses of wine, and an appetizer all under 30 dollars I would say a solid B+

Sit back, relax & enjoy a new flick with a beer in hand.

It might sound as if I am describing a night at home, but I assure you, I'm not. Movie Tavern is awesome for the following reasons:

1. The theater is huge. Massive to fit an opening night crowd & plenty of room for your entire meal! I was surprised by the size of this place on the inside. It's huge from out front, but boy, it's large inside each theater as well!

2. The menu screams tasty bar food with a lunch kick. I came here for the first showing of the Dark Knight Rises and noshed on a club sandwich, while the bf ate a philly cheese steak! Not only were the portions huge, but the food was much better than expected.

3. The staff is ultra friendly, nice and accommodating. Although our theater wasn't too hopping' on a Friday morning, she greeted us, took our order & came back periodically to check on us...all with a smile. :)

4. The ticket prices are insanely low. Use a military or student discount, or go to a matinee show for just $5! Food prices are a little more but nothing too steep.

5. They have a full bar...and I mean FULL. If beer on tap, liquor and wine strikes your fancy, it's there! In addition to the usual pints of beer, they also offer a massive glass for $10 that you can take home, bring back and have filled again for a small fee! cool!

Overall, I like this theater and can definitely see myself returning again soon!

This theater is just okay. I mean that in so many ways. Yes, the prices are a lower than other theaters. Yes, you can eat really food here (burgers, sandwiches, pizza, appetizers, etc.), as well as your standard soda and popcorn (if smallish popcorn kernels are standard). However, you sacrifice a lot in order to eat acceptable, if overpriced, food.

The Good:
--Price of tickets
--Table service of food and drinks

The Bad:
--Small screens
--Mediocre picture quality
--Mediocre sound quality
--Ambient noise from ordering, serving, paying (understandable). Incessant rattling of silverware, etc. from the server station (not so understandable).
--Bathroom cleanliness. At 1pm on a Sunday, when your theater is not exactly slammed with patrons, the urine smell in the Men's room should not be that strong, and the floor should be a lot cleaner and drier.

A Final Note:
Seating options here all kind of suck. You can sit in worn out office chairs at a long bar-like table (not ideal for movie watching), or cram yourself into a dated vinyl seat with a tiny table top. No matter where you sit, there is a good chance someone's head will be partially in the way.

A year later and we decided to come back to Movie Tavern for one more shot. It helped that we had a gift card for $25 so it was either a matter of come here and spend it or let it go to waste.

They had a big sign on the door that their bottomless $6 popcorn was no longer bottomless. No refills. Their menu still shows it as bottomless for $6 and single serving for $4. So I'm guessing popcorn is now just $6 for one filling. I've never gotten the popcorn there, but it's still annoying.

The prices have gone up at least a $1 or $2 per item in the year since we've been here, so they're rapidly pricing themselves out of market.

The waiters were in and out constantly, which is uber-distracting. They never came back by to see if we were okay or to take our dirty's away.

And in the 100+ heat it still didn't feel like they had the AC on.

As much as I dislike AMC, that's probably where we'll keep going!

So, we used to go all_the_time to Movie Tavern. It was so nice to catch a flick with a couple glasses of wine. They had better food selections that you would expect. It was fun.

Why did we stop going so much, you ask? Because the clientele (and staff) changed, for the worse. It doesn't even matter what movie you are seeing. There is always some herp-a-derp there making loud comments trying to get a laugh. During Hunger Games? Really?!!

The one time we complained to a manager about the idiot in front of us actually making phone calls during a movie, he could not have cared less. So_much_apathy. Well, now you get so_much_negative_ratings.

Last night, we tried to use a leftover Groupon that said it was still good for face value and had some blond, pimply, forever-alone, teenage mutant yelling into the speaker that they would not take it and to contact Groupon.

We went to see our movie because we really wanted to see it, but decided that was the straw.

We will never go back. All our movie funds will go to The Landmark now.

This place is pretty hit or miss. I've had times where I've had great service, and I've had times where the service has been meh (even, dare I say, annoying)

Here's one great thing about this place-their matinees are $5, and that includes weekends. So this is a rare theater where you can see a first run movie for $5 on a Saturday afternoon. Good start.

The seats are super comfy-there are your typical theater seats, but also tall-back swivel office chairs that are really comfortable and make it a little bit more of an enjoyable experience. The picture and sound are both really good, and unlike Cinebarre, they bring the lights down enough so you're not distracted.

But the food service, which is the whole point of this place, is a little meh. It can be really slow, and not worth the money. I can't speak for the main dishes as I've never tried them, but my popcorn was nothing to write home about. Still, it is nice to be able to have a beer. My recommendation is to order everything, including entrees, before the movie starts.

I'll be back to the Movie Tavern on occasion, but it's definitely not in my top choices for a trip to the movies.

Okay, so it's not a 5-star restaurant, but it's a heck of a lot better than a Super-jumbo Coke and popcorn with butter-flavored oil on top! Seriously, the food's just getting better over the years; I am a big fan of the buffalo chicken wrap, and with salad options, great desserts and a full bar, you can do worse.

The Movie Tavern shows first run movies, and the signal lights on the tables let your server know when you need something so they don't disrupt your viewing experience. Movie Tavern is our go-to for "date night!" Two thumbs up!

Cheap ticket prices. Lots of food items on the menu. The servers explain how it works. They have new inexperienced server's so getting a refill and then getting the right refill was a pain. But ill give this place another chance. The seats are comfortable as all get out. Some loveseats would rock though. :)

I had bought 4 Groupons for this theater. I used 2 in December and 2 yesterday. I have to say I really like this place. The chairs are comfy and I love that you can get a drink or snack while you watch your film. I'll review both trips separately.

Our December trip:
Service was great. People generally get there about 15 min early and they leave the lights up for the previews, which last about 15 min. This gives the waitstaff plenty of time to get food out without disturbing folks during the movie. We didn't eat on that trip. Only drinks. My only complaint was that our server dropped the check and wanted to be paid prior to the end of the movie. I didn't want to be bothered during the movie.

Our January trip:
We loved our server, Tory. Ask for him. He made our Bloody Marys and apologized profusely as we had asked for fresh horseradish and they don't carry it. I think they should. They were still ok. We split an appetizer. Some sort of thai chicken on a flatbread. It was a perfect snack to split as we were going for early dinner after. The flavor was tasty, but a bit too sweet for my taste. We also told Tory about my last experience and the guy wanting us to pay. He just left our bill and came back to collect at the end of the movie. There was minimal disruption from the server working in front of us. She was in and out in seconds.

I can't comment on the entire menu. I wouldn't make a special trip there for food, but would have a nosh while up there seeing a movie. It's a 40 min drive and I know I will continue to patronize it when I want to go to that part of town or am planning on being up there.

We haven't sat at the bar, but it looks like a nice place to sit and have a cocktail and snack.

Insert sad trombone sound. Movie Tavern just isn't worth it anymore. :(

Once upon a time MT was a great value and a cool concept. However, their execution needs work. We have had problems with credit card payments, lights not going out during the movie, not getting food (or it being cold or wrong in some way), service being slow and the list kind of goes on and on. Their prices used to be so much better than other chains that I could over look things, but it has now been several months since we have been back. I am not sure we will ever return. They just have too many negatives and not enough positives to bring us back!

Dinner and a movie in one shot works surprisingly well. My husband and I have been to Movie Tavern on several occasions and we've never had a bad experience.

On my first visit, I recall being pleasantly surprised by the rolling captain's chairs in the theater. These are much more comfortable than the average movie seat. The process of ordering food was simple: you want food, you push a lighted button (kinda like a research mouse conditioned to hit a lever for a food pellet ^_^).

I've also been rather surprised by the food quality. I'll be honest, I was expecting crap the first time I ate here. Maybe I've been completely lucky with what I've tried off the menu, but everything's been good. Not great, but good -- The food is on par with pub or diner food. The place is kept clean, too. For all the food they serve, the floors lack the stickiness or crunchiness that comes with juggling food in the dark.

I've never found the service to be intrusive or distracting, but I have a really high tolerance for that sort of thing, and I'm usually too focused on the movie to notice.

Truly, this type of arrangement is pure American indulgence at its best. Why drive to two places (dinner and a movie), when you can drive to just ONE? And eat a big-ass sundae and drink a big-ass beer while you're sitting on your ass watching a movie?

I kid... I kid...

I first thought that you're obligated to order something when you go here, but that's NOT the case. You can watch a movie without ordering anything and it's fine. Hmm... now if they could only combine a movie theater with more upscale dining, they'd be all set.

I liked going here on a Saturday night for a movie and a bite. Tonight it was annoying. The 2 women next to us did't shut up. Service was slower than usual and the wait staff were noisy as well. In and out they came. The movie Adjustment was not bad but I missed some of it due to everyones rudeness. I had Thai chicken flatbread and the taste was good but too messy in the dark. I should have had my popcorn.
Will go back one more time. Bummer.

Compared to what the theater was before (AMC Seven Hills 10) this new privately owned (i think that's correct) establishment is a big step up.

I love pressing a button at my seat to request service.
I love having a menu at my seat.
And I love that these simple conveniences aren't considered VIP, they are considered standard!

I have gone back and forth on liking and hating The Movie Tavern. Sometimes I love it and sometimes I wish I had never gone. So here it is my pros and cons:

Pros:
I get to eat an actual meal and have a beer while I watch my movie. Sure the food is not outstanding but its good enough. The burgers are not bad and I think they just might have the best fried pickles I have ever had in my whole life! The prices are great. I can get a move ticket for under $10 and if I get there before 5pm its only $6 which ROCKS. Oh the movies are new movies too, this is not a discount old movie kinda place. The price of food is comparable to a Chilli's or Applebees. It also happens to be close to home which is nice

Cons: Pretty much the worse service you can ever receive. I have gone so many times I can't even count and maybe 2 times I have had OK service. One time I had to flag someone down THREE TIMES before I got a server to help me!! It really heats me up when I receive bad service especially since I am a good tipper! The other things is it is noisy throughout the movie. The servers do take orders and talk to customers through the movie so you have to just get over that if you are going to go. There is no getting around it.

I guess when all is said and done I will still go because I like my movies to not cost me an arm and a leg and the cold beer and friend pickles generally save the day when I get crap service.

I think that if Management made an effort to train the servers and organize the whole process a little better the whole experience would ROCK but for now it just falls a little short.

Drinking during a movie is always a good thing, and at Movie Tavern you don't have to be sneaky to do it, they'll bring right to your seat, what a fantastic idea. We went during the middle of the day on Friday and it was a ghost town, which made it even better in my opinion.

Other than the full bar at your disposal and a decent menu of bar and grill fare( we ordered a pizza, hot wings, and a huge blue frozen margarita for two) this place is just a movie theater.

Unlike Cinema Grill the movies are new and they even show 3D films. Will definitely go back.

Things I like about Movie Tavern:

- You can drink beer during a guy movie and be nice and tipsy by the end, making the whole thing tolerable (same for guys dragged out for chick flicks)
- The seating is comfortable and the theaters aren't very crowded on weekdays.
- If I'm craving a movie and chicken fingers, I can get it.

Things I don't like about Movie Tavern:

- The food really is crap. It's fast food, frozen stuff they heat or fry up, full of preservatives and not much for quality. But if you're like me and crave chicken fingers once in a blue moon, sure, why not?
- Service is hit or miss. Sometimes you get your food, sometimes you don't. I've never been unfortunate enough to be there starving and waiting for my food but it has happened.
- It's incredibly overpriced.

I'll stick with my Century 16 by the Aurora mall for my movie going out in the "eastlands" of Denver.

So our friends invited us to this place in Aurora called the Movie Tavern, they said it was cool, that you can eat and drink while watching the movie.
We went (we live in cherry creek, closer to downtown) after the extremely long drive. Upon going into the theater, it was arranged with little tables, kinda of interesting. Each little table had a button light you push if you needed service. The menu was bar food, and they have a full bar. I didn't think the food was bad. You could order pitchers of beer, or a wine bucket, or anything. We watched Valentines Day, and I was surprised to find the wait staff were not that big of a distraction. Other reviews commented on the quality of the screen and sound, but I didn't have a problem with that. Overall its a unique movie experience and recommend it.

I absolutely HATE movie theatre's, but a couple of friends told me about the Movie Tavern so I had to at least check it out...and I won't see another movie in another theatre. Big beers, good ol' bar food, nice staff, and reasonably priced. I love the layout of the theatre to accommodate the grub and drinks and anticipated big distractions during the picture due to wait staff walking around, but they kept their heads down and talked quietly to preserve the movie. Plus they have little switches you can flip to call them if you need something, and unlike the service switches on airplanes, they actually answered the call.

So why only 4 stars? Location Location Location. They built this thing in one of the extremities of the Denver metro area (downtown would've made alot more sense) so it's convenient for only 10% of the city. Does that deter me from heading that way for a movie? No. But sucks when you've got a buzz on. Plus the equipment as far as sound and screen were average at best. Looking forward to the next show. Oh, and if you want fancy food, don't bother. Great munchies and the like, but nothing to write home (or yelp) about.

My addiction to movie tavern holds true. I still come here way more than I should. As sad as that is, I tend to notice certain trends with this place. The main one being, and why I've lowered my rating a star, is that the service is getting progressivly worse. Not that it was all the great to begin with. I wonder if its the seasonal rush as the big summer movies are coming out, or maybe its the fact that the school year is ending. Either way, don't expect your order to be taken promptly upon arrival, don't expect your food anytime soon after your order, and don't expect your beer anytime before the movies half-way over.

If you can deal with that, the experience is still pretty fun.

The movie tavern's pretty fun. It's great to be able to have a snack or a drink while you're watching a movie.

The screen isn't the best, nor is the food. But the ability to have dinner while you're watching a movie, or to order a glass of wine during a bad movie, more than makes up for that.

Fun for a night out, but if you want a great meal or a high quality movie screen and sound, probably not the place.

I took my kids today on the extended President's Day weekend and it worked well for us. The complaints about the noise level and the crowd control didn't apply because there were only about 10 other people in the theatre for a noon-thirty showing.

First impression was the bar smell in the lobby, but it's called Movie "TAVERN," so no biggie. Kids were thrilled with the seats; mine rolled backwards with no prompting and I like a more stable place to put my keister. It was great to eat while we watched in the theatre, but somehat pricy kid's food and my daughter's iced tea was $3.49, the same price as my son's milkshake.

I was prepared to dis and be snobbish about my Three Amigos salad, but the shredded iceberg lettuce combined with white rice, corn, black beans, and an allegedly spicy dressing with chicken actually worked for me. My son's cheeseburger was good and fries were awesome when they came out screaming hot.

In all, not worth the drive to Aurora Borealis, but if you're already there, it's kind of fun and gr8 for kids.

I agree with a lot of the reviews, that while great in theory, service is more of an annoyance than convenient. I've never experienced anything like this before and was super excited to know that I could drink beer, eat real-ish food and drink alcohol while enjoying a flick.

The magic wore off once it took the staff (who is super nice, but just too young) over 20 mins. to get us our drinks. Plus, there was just so much traffic and noise. Once the movie started, it died down, but it also took a long time to get the check. If I as drunk enough, I could have walked away without paying anything and no one would have stopped me.

It's cool if you wanted to kill two birds with one stone -drink and watch, but beware of noise, disturbance and absent service.

A mixed bag, the Movie Tavern in Aurora is.

The Pros:
Nice seating
You can eat a meal while watch a movie in a theater
Full bar in the lobby

The Cons:
The food SUCKS. Everything I have had is horrible.
The food is expensive for what you get.
The theaters are small-ish and the sound is not that great.

Overall I give it a three stars because it is an okay place to get a beer and watch a movie in comfortable seats. It has never been crowded when I have been there. Just don't be fooled into getting any food.

The blue margarita for 2 is really really awesome and really really big. I drank a lot more of it than my boyfriend (actually, I could probably finish the whole thing myself.) Its 40 ounces of blue frozen bliss. I took a picture of it. And I thought about stealing the glass because I really wanted it. But I really dont know how I would steal it.
Anywho....
the reason this place got a star taken off is because our little annoying server put a little heart and a love, blahblahblah (dont remember her name) on the check and it really irked me. And when she dropped it off she winked at my boyfriend. Im sorry, but I really dont think you should hit on my man in front of me.
And if you do, get me another 40 ounce margarita so I wont remember it.

Mixing my two favorites: Food and Movies

How more perfect is that?!

I love this place. While food isn't the best I ever had, it's not the worst and it's more than cool to eat what you want and drink alcohol while you watch the newest movies!!

It's a little less expensive than the regular theaters too, which is a bonus. My only complaint would be that they need a 'will-call' window so that you don't wait in the long lines to claim tickets we paid for online.

Weekends get mighty crowded, so best to go early and get the best seats with tables. The rolling chairs.....uh roll....while you are trying to watch :-)

We had a great time at this place! I highly recommend it.

First off, the movie tickets were cheaper than a regular theatre (only $7.50) and they have $1.50 beers Sun-Thurs. What a deal! Their food is reasonably priced, too.

There is continuous service throughout the movie. Finished your cheap beer? flip the switch on your table and your server will be right over to get you a new one.

We went on a Monday night, so it was pretty dead, but the bar area was really nice. We are thinking of bringing a larger http://MeetIn.org group there next time.

The ONLY downside is that it is in Aurora. It took me almost 2 hours to get there from LoDo :( Maybe if we show them some love they will build us one that is not in BFE...

It's about as good of an idea as it gets--just executed poorly. And, really, that makes it all the more depressing.

The Movie Tavern is an eat-in movie theatre. With stadium seating and first run-movies, the theatre seems to offer all the great things about watching a movie at home without the mess of cooking. Seriously, you can even enjoy your favorite alcoholic beverage while watching your favorite new movie!

Again, great idea. Poor execution. First off, for us Denver peeps, it's about 30-40 minutes too far east; you pass about 16 other movie theatres on the way there. Second, they must be on some sort of sodium kick there--because everything is over salted! Bleh!

Anyways, if you live in A-town, I would say check it out. Go for a beer and a good movie--other than that, pop a 6-pack at home and pop in "40 Year Old Virgin" for the 40th time. That's always a good guarantee!
