Beer was fresh. Bartender swore a lot but was attentive. Bathroom floor was really really sticky. It's a dive but you can tell that from the street. It's fine.

Questions I asked my friends throughout the far too long 30min we were at this establishment:

Why is there a line to get in to a bar in WC?
    Can we leave now?
Where are all the women at?
Who is picking this AWFUL music?
Why are there so many guys?
Why is the floor so sticky??? (I'm afraid to re-read my prior question now)
    Why didn't we leave sooner?
Can we please NEVER go back?

I have no qualms with this place nor encouraging raves. It is a stop on my usual bar hop and I am thankful for it. I love quiet nights at Mr. Lucky's and crowded game nights here. The bartenders are always super friendly and make me feel really comfortable about hanging out there (unlike some stuck up barkeeps downtown).

I must say the powder pink upstairs bathroom for the women needs to be updated. It reminds me terribly my grandmothers washroom.

The drinks are stiff and decently priced. I will definitely be back for more.

Mr luckys huh? After a rude bartender and a tampon wedged in my chair I couldn't leave fast enough. Lucky I didn't catch a disease.

This is the discussion between the bouncer and myself as I left:
    Me: Thanks, man.
    Bouncer: F you, mother F-er. I didn't do S for you.
I guess he was mad that I just spent 70 dollars at his place of business? Oh, also this place is gross and full of WC douchebags. Hopefully they keep this business afloat so that there's a place for them to congregate away from those of us who have evolved slightly further from apes.

    Ehh-- skip it.
So many over-the-top-AMAZING places to flock to in Walnut Creek ,. This place is just a wee bit..ghetto.    bartenders are strange  --  they've never came through with a satisfactory cocktail -- something's always off.
    *Stick with beer.

Perhaps a 3.5? I mean, whatevs. I've frequented this place a lot and I feel that this is the one joint where I feel the most comfortable in.  Other places have an over abundance of guidos and bros where over at Mr. Lucky.. there's regular jean-and-t-shirt type of guys rather than the i-LOVE-rhinstones-and-glitter-tshirt type of guys... if you know what I mean. Perhaps it's the fact that I know it's only walnut creek and this is one of the very few places that try really really really hard to look all upscale. Plus, I LOVE ESPN, so it's nice to sit, get a stiff drink and watch sports center. So since it's a dive and a sports bar it's gonna be a sausage fest.

I just want to say that the bartender here is the best. I came for a Monday night for my girl's bday and it happened to be his birthday too. He's a super nice guy and he had a decent pour.

Ladies word of caution: If you come here you WILL get hit on, but milking drinks is easy  peasy mac n cheesy. I've never milked drinks before but it literally was too easy- as in.. I'm going to go pay and they give their card to the bartender before he even comes up to give you a check. So...I guess why not? A guy even paid for my shot that I was going to buy for the bartender's bday. Tipsy without even spending a dime- haha

BTW. this place can get super crowded on the weekends and walking to the end of the bar is a bitch...get here to pregame before you hit up the other douche bag "clubs" out here so at least you're inebriated before walking into the other VD infested venues.

Seriously, their bathrooms are the filthiest I have ever seen in a bar, toilet water on the floor, yuck.

Next, the layout is just too crowded.  They divide up the room in bars, its just too hard to get around.

Yeah I don't know - this place is whack!  Typical dive bar which I'm cool with but the walnut creek bouncers are seriously lame!  We went on a Sat night and the place was not crowded at all.  There were tables still empty but there was a forming line out the door !

After about 5 minutes I walk to up the bouncer  - this is our conversation:
Me: "Whats up man!  Why such a line if the place is not packed?"
Dork: "The line is for looks...Looks only"
Me: "How long do we have to stand out here for ?  I have some friends in there already and I'm staring at them through the window and its an empty place"
Dork: "Probably about 10 minutes more
    Me: "Alright man"

So I go back in line and there is about 5 people in front of us.  The line grows even more and I hear some girls behind me complain about the "unnecessary line"  Through the window I just see the bartender standing around.

WAIT!!!  FINALLY - the douchebag starts letting people in. He lets the 5 people in front of us go in and 3 random GUYS  from I don't know where the hell they came from.  The bouncer must of really liked these guys cause its the first time he was smiling all night.  Then he stops us!!!  He puts on his fake "army" pose and says "You guys need to wait."

So now I know he's just being a Dyck! (Which is probably his name)  So now instead of Dork lets refer to him as Dyck.
I look at him and this is our conversation:

Me: "What did you say man?  I couldn't hear you clear"
    Dyck: "What ?"
Me:  "I asked you what you said a minute ago, we need to wait? is that what I heard?"
Dyck: "Yeah - you need to wait just like you have been doing!"
Me:  "Dude your hella cool.  No seriously man I wanna be just like you someday"
    Dyck: "You know what...GOODNIGHT"

    LOOOOLL

Did I just get kicked out of Lucky's without ever making it in!!  hahah...  What a sensitive bouncer...I guess i hurt his little feelings.
It's cool though.  You can tell he hated life and to get through the night he was imagining himself bouncing at an upscale Vegas club.

It was actually our last stop of the night and we just wanted to says whats up to our friends, which was all good cause we were chatting through the window at least!!

SO EVERYONE!!!!  Thats why there is ALWAYS a line!!!!  FOR LOOKS..

Stopped in super quick to grab a drink on our way to Crogans. We had a sort of drink-a-thon.

It was Saturday night and not crowded at all. Decided to go in here because there was like no one lol.

Had a corona light with an unripe lime. That kind of sucked, since limes add flavor to the beer. Decided to just have a beer and keep making our way down the street.

It seems like this place is a hit or miss. We happened to stumble upon it on a 'miss' night! Kind of small and nota 'club' feeling.

Who knows, I just may go back for some drinks.

    SAUSAGE FEST.

Like Jenn N. mentions, sometimes the line outside makes no sense to me. I think they just want to assert their power.

My girls and I like to go because there are always a million boys here, and we usually have a few good laughs. Food is decent, plenty of TVs, jukebox, and the window seats are prime viewing opportunities, but awkward with that line they like to build...

this place gets packed. I think its open later than other clubs/bars around the area, so people migrate after all the lights turn on.

    +1 cheap drinks
    +1 diverse crowd
    +1 places to sit
    +1 nice staff
    +1 clean

This place was just too crowded! We were standing at the bar for about 30min then we just decided the wait was not worth it. Heads Up: Be prepared to be bumped into several times.
Very casual place. Oh, and they lost someones card while we were waiting...

It's a moody f'ing place.  That comes with age, I suppose.  The further you sit down the bar, the older and darker it gets....until you find a pile of ashes.

The food is better than average for a hole in the wall bar.  They serve breakfast and lunch only.

Mr. Lucky's is a nice, off the beaten path type of place.  Good for locals.  Known to get crowded and crazy from midnight until close.

This used to be a good bar, but like almost every place in Walnut Creek, it gets TOO CROWDED

The bouncers think they are the shit. Guess what - you are a bouncer at Mr. Lucky's - you aren't

Oh, and once a fight broke out and the bouncer pepper sprayed the entire crowd waiting in line - including me.

The funny thing is, during the day, this place has a GREAT menu - the breakfast is top notch, and it has a Killer Steak Sandwich.

    Def a 2 star dive..

This place is like college town on speed. The average age was 23 tops! The place is haggard & dirttty feeling. But it had tons of energy from the hormonal crowd. The b-tenders weren't that cool as everyone states.

The ladies restrooms were upstairs & iffy. The fellow patrons were nice..but I'd def never go here again. I've had better.

This place has stayed the same over the many years.  It always reminds me of the good ol college days when I step into this place... its nice, dirty, and grungy.

BUT drinks are cheaper than those fancier bars/"lounges" in WC.  So go here for a casual night with friends and grab a drink.  There's plenty of booths and seats all around if you want to chill.

This place is no good. Of course in Walnut Creek finding a descent bar is next to impossible, so you shouldn't expect much. TINY place that is like hanging out in a hallway. The scene is pretty weak. The drinks are just drinks, nothing that they do especially well. The staff is okay. No pool tables, darts or any real entertainment.

If you are fresh out of college this could be a place that you love because it is like being at a bad frat party, otherwise it's a waste of an evening.

One star for no cover charge. This is one of the only places in downtown Walnut Creek that doesn't implement a cover charge on weekend nights. I am usually too cheap (and generally annoyed on principle) to cough up $5 to get into Dan's, so I find myself bouncing between Mr. Lucky's and Tiki Tom's a lot of Friday and Saturday nights.

One star for the mixed drinks, which are strong enough to get you on Texts From Last Night before you realize you're drunk.

One star for fast, attentive service from the bartenders, if you can manage to squeeze your way up to the bar.

Minus one star for the draconian policy about credit cards: you have to leave your driver's license with the card, and if you forget it at the bar at the end of the night, they SHRED it "to protect your privacy."

Minus one star for the inept bouncers, who are simultaneously overzealous (they once made my slightly intoxicated friend recite the alphabet before they would let her in) and neglectful of their duties, since the small bar space is always so crowded you usually get to second base with a few people on your way to the bar.

FUCK THE BOUNCER....seriously that guy needs to get laid, he is so up tight its not even funny. I went here on Halloween, meeting some friends, not the spot I would pick but whatev. So the bouncer asks me my address on my ID as a 'security' precaution. Too bad the address on my ID is wrong, and I lived at that 'residence' for less than 6 weeks. Obviously, after 7 drinks Im not going to know the fucking address that never really existed.

In that sort of circumstance, I could not explain to the rude, ignorant, ugly bouncer the predicament I was in and how desperately I needed to meet my friends inside. I did what any self respecting woman would do and asked to speak to the manager. Luckily he was  little smarter and allowed me to prove my identity with 2 other forms of ID. Thank you!!! I did not suffer several years being underage just to be denied into this shit hole.

Other than that it was a pretty good time. Rather cheap drinks and decent music. After reading the reviews for the food Im intrigued. I would go back for sure, but seriously fuck that bouncer. He does not know how to treat a lady, thats probably why he hasnt been laid in so long.

P.S. The bouncer was about 5'9", blondish balding hair, freckles, skinny, and really white...tell him to fuck off for me!

Came here for Halloween not sure what to expect...... to our surprise it was a cool dive bar, drinks were inexpensive.... 2 patron shots, 1 beer, 2 Margaritas, and a soda for $24.00.... can't beat that!

The crowd was cool, music was good. I'd defiantly come back again!

LISTEN UP LADIES! If you are going out to pick up guys, then this is the place for you. I went here with my boyfriend and a couple of his college buddies, and let me tell you, this was the epidomy of a cockfest. I have literally never seen so many straight dudes in one place. I am pretty sure that there were like less than ten females in the whole joint. One of them was wearing a shirt that said "You're going to regret this in the morning" And she was a total butterface, so it definitely read true. And I saw her leave with some guy... moving on, the ladies were slim pickings, so really any vagina mafia could roll on in here and find someone to mingle with.

We snagged a table right away and sat there for the remainder of the evening. It was cool, I didn't actually have to order anything from the bar cause the guys i was with were gentlemen, but it seemed like an easy enough adventure.

Oh yeah, and they really are not dicking around with that silly dress code. 2 of the guys in my party were wearing white tees, and were initially denied. We aren't exactly sure why... but whatevs, so we had to trek back to the car and muster up a button up shirt and A's sweatshirt so they would let us in. So that was kinda stupid... having a dress code for a divebar.... everything is topsy turvy.....
Nothing I love more than walking three blocks in 4 inch heels because of some lame-o rule!!!

Anyways, all in all it was fun. DIVEBAR = AWESOME. And its smack dab in the middle of walnut creek, so its perfect for winding down your night or getting it started.

    Mr Lucky's, ehh.

The door man is seriously the biggest a hole, but I'm not the first to say that and I know I won't be the last.  He makes me not want to go there...

The actual bar is so-so.  One time I went and it smelled like vomit, the next time it smelled like there was a drunk farter in the crowd.  I've been there 4 times, so I'll say it smells half the time.

The drinks are good but with so many bars in downtown WC I'd say go somewhere else where if theres a line that cuz people are actually inside, not because the doormans an ass on a power trip.

When we arrived it was moderately full.  When we left there was a huge line of people waiting to get in. Why?  I have no idea.  It was OK.  The bartenders were nice enough.  The drinks were not cheap for a dive bar, which is what this place screams.

The little booths were pretty cool.

A cute drunk chick came over, grabbed my hand, nearly drooled on me and apologized for throwing a fishy cracker my way.  That was weird. We looked for said fishy cracker and never found it. If she wanted to cop a feel, all she had to do was ask.

Can't comment on the "barness" of the place, as this has turned into a favorite lunch spot.  They serve a nice variety of comfort food, all cooked well with good ingredients.  The service is friendly and efficient, and they never give us any crap for wanting to split the checks over multiple credit cards.

Just a good, solid meal.  I have no idea if it's a good bar.

I'm a regular and have been going for years!  Best place in town.  Bar tenders are awesome, most of the bounces are cool, and drinks are normal price.  Great place to watch any sportind event as well as listen to music without having the dancing crowd find at clubs.

Don't plan on sitting as it's tough to find a seat and nor hear yourself think at times but that's what makes it a great bar.  And if you find yourself waiting in line, get there earlier!  Or come more often so that someone at the door and/or the bar knows who you are!

If you are a fan of going to places that smell like a cross between cigarettes and dried puke, this place is for you!

The 3 stars are because I enjoy a cool retro dive bar.  That and their skeezy patrons left my friend alone to chat at our booth that smelled way too much like cleaner, but hey, atleast it was clean!

They serve up some strong drinks and yes the crowed isn't the nicest, but I wouldn't mind coming back here for a drink or two again.

Oh hell. Mr. Lucky's is also a place that holds memories (and lost memories) from the good ole party days. (Some that I'd rather forget).

Back again, after a four year hiatus and much has changed: there is an even more obnoxious line after 10 PM, and the crowd once you get in side is even less worth it than before. On the positive side: their drinks are fantastic...just as stiff as I remember (or don't remember, for that matter).

Actually, now that I'm thinking about it...maybe the crowd only looked better to me four years a go because I was usually wearing a sweet new pair of liquor shades.

Mr. Lucky's is small. I've been in living rooms bigger than this place.

There's ALWAYS a line out the door to get in, thus I usually skip it.

It's just a bar. A BAR people. It's not a club like Spin or 1220 and it's not a dance hall like WPLJ's. It's a bar/grill that has 5? booths and two bartenders. Why would I want to wait in line for that?

The singular time I actually went in as there was no line, which was early on Halloween mind you, I saw nothing spectacular about it. Dan's was hopping around the same time and the bartenders made an impression with their costumes.

Why would I want to come back here?

That's right, I have no idea either.

If I had it my way I would have left right away... but group majority rules so I had to suffer through an evening at Mr. Lucky's with the stinky stuffy groddie atmosphere. The only plus is that my drink was WAY strong, potent actually. Maybe I'm just getting old, but the music was way too loud for any normal conversation and my friends either told me I was yelling too loud or not loud enough AHHHH frustrating!

I left feeling dirty, thank goodness it was sprinkling outside as I walked out, it kind of made the ick somewhat go away...

These stupid jackasses....we go here on one of the many stops for my buddy's friend's 21st birthday.  I wanted to buy this guy a shot of 151 to celebrate.  But no, they don't have it.  I asked for a shot of Wild Turkey - 100-proof (you're only 21 once) - but they don't have that either....they don't have anything over 80-proof.  I was outraged.  How can you be a bar and not have any real alcohol??

So I asked the bartender...and he says "we don't serve that shit because it makes you stupid."  (Duhh!!  That's the fucking point!!!)  Apparently he must have drank it all himself....he's stupid, just like this place.

The ra-ra, beer-can-crushing, breastbone-beating, alpha male is the prevalent cohort in this laid back pub-- but I can allay my annoyance for a good drink from my buddy Walty and his associates.

Michelle W. is right on the money.  There is always a sea of boys-- er... I mean-- men here.  Despite some showing attributes of the extinct Homo erectus, the guys are usually pretty nice.  The female demographic is rather sparse, so fellas- you MIGHT want to hit up another bar for some girly game.

We waited outside for about a half an hour trying to get in.  Once we got in, we had to squeeze our way into the crowded bar.  I pushed my way to the bar, and attempted to order a drink.  I must not have been showing enough skin, because it took forever to order.  But once I ordered, the drink came fast.

It's definitely pact with guys in their twenties, and a girl or two here and there.  So if you're looking to get picked up... ladies, this is the spot.

It was crowded, and loud, but the people I went with were having fun, so it made the whole thing fun.

Five stars for Mr. Lucky's if you're a girl.
One star for Mr. Lucky's if you're a guy.
Average that out:  FOUR STARS for Mr. Lucky's!

    Two words: Sausage!  Fest!

If I were single and on the prowl for a frat-boy-lookin' dude, I'd hit up Mr. Lucky's because I'm sure I'd get lucky.  Blue sapphire gin and tonics for $7 a pop.  Not horrible.

The (few) girls there dress pretty sexy (some are a little slutty, but we all like a little bit of slutty when we go out, right?).  Lots of processed hair, tight jeans, and designer handbags.

Mr. Lucky's is a shady bar. The bar is small and basically the overflow location of Crogans. I might be wrong in that assumption, but I don't care. Mr. Lucky's has bouncers that discriminate as to who they want to let in. I suppose it will always be a "who you know" type of industry, even for shady bars like this one. They do have cheap beer. This is also the location of the first time that I lost money playing Liars Dice.

Ok, don't waste your time here.
