Like was mentioned above (or below?), parking lot is huge but its really pretty little inside. Â Dates back a million years to when this was a fried chicken place. Â However, its clean and reasonably attractive inside. Â Staff was polite and efficient. Â Food was good and the price right. Â I'll return for sure.
Review Source:I haven't eaten here in almost a decade. Was I missing out! They have good specials, including a regular Mr. Sub cold cut (white or wheat) and drink for $3, and it's totally worth it. The roast beef and corned beef subs are also great, and the prices are good for how much meat comes on them. They also have seafood salads as well, if that's your thing. A much better buy than Subway or Jimmy Johns, with so many more options.
Review Source:Been here a few times and it's always consistent. Not a huge fan but based on the reviews I see, people really love it.
The place is clean and there is plenty of in house seating. Subs are good, garlic fries are really tasty and heavy on the garlic. +1 for that.
My biggest peeve is that when you ask for your sub hot they throw the thing in the microwave...Yikes! Nuked bread is not appealing at all. So I have learned not to have my sub heated.
Decent sub, fresh bread, made to order, give them a try and see what you think.
Besides the location in Bellwood, this is the nicest looking Mr. Sub I've been to. However unlike the Bellwood, the food here seems much better, and the parking lot is big. Yes, as far as Mr. Sub parking lots go, it almost seems to be their prerequisite to have tiny, chopped up parking lots. Thankfully, this one is an exception to the rule.
Not much more to add. I've really no complaints here. Unfortunately Berwyn is a bit out of the way, or I'd be hitting up this location more often.
Dear Mr. Submarine,
You have ruined everything. Everything, I tell you. I was perfectly content eating at subway, some low-fat sandwich that would leave me hungry an hour later. Then you came along. Now, I crave your sandwiches all the time. You leave me full and satisfied. Thanks for nothing.
Sincerely,
Victoria H.
The place is huge with seating along the walls.
I'm not too familiar with the staff as I am with the one on 26th but they are still very nice.
The food is good like the other one.
And at this place I usually run into someone I went to high school with.
Not much else to say. I come in, order the same thing everytime (because I'm not a big meat eater), wait a couple minutes, and take the food, sit down, eat, and back on my merry way.
i can hear the jingle now...****begin cheesy music*** mr submarine..home of the corned beef and roast beef..****end cheesy music****
i dont get the whole home of the corned beef and roast beef...but i do get home of the king size original mr sub...layers of ham and salamis...and cheese and shredded lettuce and tomatoes and that whole 12 inch piece of cheese...secret sauce..on fresh turano bread..you cant beat the berwyn location since turano bakery is in berwyn..freshest bread in all the land..
this place is so good my friend said he wanted to start his own pickle route so he can deliver to mr sub...its open till like 3am and i guess they even make fried food in there now...
do me a favor..go to mr sub..get the king size mr sub..get some quarters and put them in the sticker and super bouncy ball machine...hit up that pickle and enjoy your meal..this place is awesome
I grew up by this place and their signature "Mr. Sub" sandwich is where it's at. Â Who knew shredded iceberg, brick cheese and salami/ham/bologna worked so well with french bread? Â
Since childhood, always the same/similar lineage of hairy and/or gruff men preparing sandwiches and fresh cut fries. Â Open very late plus they have arcade games!
Two tough guys and a vaguely Eastern European woman making subs that blow others out of the water--that includes Jimmy John's! Â I'll never forget the time one of the tough guys used his giant bread knife to turn up the volume on the TV.
Don't forget to order a few of the dozens of side dishes. Â I recommend the garlic fries; it'd be easy (and tasty) enough for Mr. Sub to simply sprinkle some garlic powder on the fries and call it a day, but instead, the fries get shaken in a bag with some kind of mystery garlic sauce. Â The result is pungent and delicious. Â Don't forget to order a side of cheese sauce for dippin'!
I rarely review chain fast food places, but I'm making an exception for Mr. Submarine. Â I've been going here since high school, perhaps longer. Â It has definitely helped me when I was a wee bit tipsy late at night. Â The people that work there are always very nice to the drunken fools that inhabit this place after 1 am. Â As I am sometimes one of the said fools, I am always grateful to them for that. Â The veggie subs with the Italian dressing is one of my favorites.
