In my searches for a good local fish fry, we've decided this is our place. Â The fish has always been excellent. Â There is usually a selection of locally caught fresh fish, so you get something beyond the typical cod fish fry.
On the down side, this is not the place to go for a quiet intimate experience. Â Then again, a fish fry is not likely to provide that anyway. Â
Since this has not been included in the other reviews, this establishment is primarily a bar. Â They do have live music on the weekends, and host the "Nashotah Blues Fest" every summer.
Hey, this little gem deserves a nod!
If you're from Wisconsin, you have fish-fry in your blood. You seek it, you crave it, you don't know why because it's just fried fish, but you can't resist.
I know how you feel.
And I have my standards. My fish fry must have the following:
Salted rye bread
Potato salad
Potato pancakes with applesauce
Good selection of fish
Good batter or breading
Coleslaw
Lemon wedges
Tartar sauce
Good beer accompaniment
I rate each of these (except wedges) on a scale of 1-3 (1=OK, 2=Good, 3=Great), so a perfect score would be a 25.
Nashotah Clubhouse meets many of these criteria.
Salted rye: 2
Potato salad: 2
Potato pancakes with applesauce: 2
Fish selection: 3
Batter: 2
Coleslaw: 2
Wedges: yes. (1)
Tartar sauce: 2
Beer accompaniment: 3 (Bells Two-Hearted on TAP?! this should get a 5!!)
For a total of: 18 out of 25. Not bad, Clubhouse, not bad.
