6/14/2013 Â Traveling with Wife & Daughter-stayed two nights in town. Thought we would have more than fast food- (in this case we should have ). arrived before the crowds for evening meal--
Sign said Mexican & American. Only saw one item American on menu - was seated right away. Â Cashier was was on the phone yacking & with a very loud irritable laugh most of the time . Waitress was also very loud & pushy. she brought chips & Salsa ( the only good thing) finally took order. Another long wait. I ordered the Burrito & asked to ladle the green Chile sauce on top. Â Waitress said they wouldn't do that & argued very loudly.
Wife ordered Chile Relleno - It was really bad- rubbery tasteless & over priced. Our 8 year old daughter had fries -Yucky ?? Waitress never brought any more chips & salsa--brought our bill and didn't see her again.
Wife & I have operated large & small Restaurants- but never encountered  anything like this.  Jerry L.
Yes, the service is very friendly. Yes, the salsa is great. But the "Mexican" food is inedible. I usually don't say much if I don't like a place, but you need to be warned. We paid an outrageous amount of money for food that was either tasteless or downright scary. I couldn't eat what they called a chile relleno. The rubber egg thing they bent around the chile tasted like very old griddle grease. Didn't want to spend my vacation sick. Worst food I've ever had in a restaurant.
Review Source:The food was excellent. Â Chips and salsa were fresh and tasty. Â Service was good, but the waitress was yikkety yacking up front. Â We had Chimichanga's. Â I had the chicken with white sauce, which was the best I have ever eaten. Â It came with beans, rice, lettuce, tomato, and a pepper. Â I should have taken a picture, it looked like the cooking channel. Â My wife had the beef with regular sauce and it was very good also. Â My brother came here last year and recommended this place.
Review Source:We read in the AAA book that the food is really good. Â We'll never know; we didn't have an hour to find out. Â When we arrived, we were not told that there were a few large parties already seated. Â So after 30 minutes of eating salsa and chips, the waitress said it would be another 15 to 20 minutes. Â So we left and ate at McDonald's.
Review Source:Just ate at this place at suggestion of family who had previously dined there. They came with and unfortunately we all agreed it was not a good experience. Waitstaff was friendly but food is very average and not priced accordingly. I had the combo fajitas and got 5 small pieces of beef and the chicken was the stuff you buy that has the grill marks painted on and pre-seasoned. What kind of authentic Mexican restaurant does this? But even worse was that the place was not busy at all and it took over 30 minutes to get food! While we waited one of the waitresses vacuumed next to our table. Nice touch folks.... The beans and rice were okay and the chips and salsa quite good. However, the overall price, quality and timeliness of service means we will not return on our frequent visits through this area. The bad part is that a place loses customers with these experiences and they won't go back usually unless they hear an affirmative message that a change has taken place or enough reviews are positive in the future that indicate someone has taken charge and made things better.
Review Source:Driving through Kanab late at night, this was the only open restaurant we saw. The only good part of the experience was that the food was edible. I had the chicken fajitas for my main course. The chicken tasted a bit undercooked and the only reason I finished my meal there was because I was extremely hungry. The meal was way overpriced for the quality of the food. The service was ehhh...I had to wave down the waitress multiple times.
I decided to order the "fried ice cream" for dessert and even though it was not the dish I was expecting, it was still pretty good.
What pissed me off most about this place was that one of the waiters didn't wash his hands after using the restroom. I feel like that's a cardinal rule for employees working at an eating establishment. In his defense, there was no "employees must wash hands sign" over the sink in the restroom so I understand how he could have forgotten, but it is still inexcusable!
Basically the only reason this place got 2 stars instead of 1 was that the food was edible and that it was open late so that I didn't have to settle for fast food...although I might as well have. Oh yeah, and the ice cream hit the spot!
Nice booths, interesting wall decor, decent prices and prompt service. They were also very accommodating with my dietary restrictions and allowed me to substitute veggies for hashbrowns and toast. Also, we came in during lunch but they were still willing to make breakfast for me. Delicious food.
Review Source:Maybe it was an off day, but I don't remember NOT liking the food last time we were here! We started our visit with a bug in the carafe of water we were brought (by a grouchy busboy). My taco salad lacked flavor, and was a greasy, tasteless flour tortilla bowl, full of iceberg lettuce & not much else! Â My husband's chimichanga was lack lustre! Â Our cups were empty most of the time, and we were barely tended to - which our tip reflected, sadly.
Review Source:The back page of the menu tells the story of this place, and how it links to the parent restaurant, its worth a read, especially if you are into Hollywood name dropping.
Its a small town place, with an old look to it, the furnishings could use some updating, but that is not why one would go here. Â It's all about the food.
The service was good, friendly, and helpful in deciding what items to try.  The water, chips and salsa were delivered very quickly.  Some may consider the salsa too hot, my family loved it, especially since there was plenty of  cilantro was in it, and has had time for the flavors of all the ingredients to merge together.  They quickly brought a refill when the salsas bowl ran out.  The chips were on the small side and thin enough to break easily, but tasted good.
The menu is large enough that everyone should find something they like. Â The entrees were of a good size, and tasted fresh. Â Mine had a nice topping of cilantro on it and the sauce did not taste canned.
I'm so sad, I used to love, love, love this place. Â Their salsa is the best. Â I used to tell everyone who was even thinking about going through Kanab that they had, had, had to stop here. Â I will not...anymore. Â I ordered salsa mix on their website on December 8th. Â I called the restaurant on the 12th so make sure they got my order and to see if it was on its way. Â The girl on the phone said it had not gone out and it would go out by the 16th and she assured me I would have it by Christmas. Â Today is December 28th. Â I have no salsa mix. Â I am so dissappointed. Â Why has customer service taken a back seat these days?
Review Source:We had breakfast at Nedra's Too on our way to Lake Powell. Â The service was so friendly and welcoming. Â And the food was homey and downright delish. Â Great salsa and chips. Â For starters, the waitress let me order from the lunch menu - which always makes me happy, since I don't like eggs, cheese, or most starchy breakfast fare. Â I had the combo plate, a ground beef taco, a shredded beef enchilada, and a tamale. Â WOW. Â The tamale was just like my mom used to make, tender, lots of meat, flavorful sauce. Â The enchilada sauce was slightly spicy and complimentary to the meat. Â The rest of my group had breakfast, which they all loved. Â
I love a good Mexican restaurant, and this definitely hit the spot.
We had a very solid meal here. Â First, the chips and salsa were out of this world. Â The salsa especially was addictive.
I ordered a spinach enchilada, which was good. Â Something about the white sauce they put on it made all the difference. Â Nevertheless, because of all the sauce and cheese, it was a very heavy dish. Â Since it was on the vegetarian menu, I thought it would be a little lighter and have more to the enchilada besides the sauce and cheese. Â Still, it was good. Â
Overall, there was nothing wrong with the restaurant. Â My boyfriend and I enjoyed our meals and the service was friendly.
My husband and I stopped here for lunch two weeks ago. We were both hungry for veggies and a good meal that would be good fuel for driving on. We both got the taco salad. The husband got the beef and I got the chicken. Mine was delicious. My husband really liked his too. The best part was that it hit the spot without being too heavy. It was just what we needed for driving fuel! The salsa was amazing so we ordered  some chips and salsa to go.  The staff was friendly and competent. We would definitely go again!
Review Source:We usually stop here on our way between AZ and UT because first of all it is in a great location if you are just passing through and it has pretty good food. I love that it has several vegetarian options for me. I recently tried the Best Friends Burrito, which is a tribute to the Best Friends Animal Sanctuary down the road, and loved it. It had lots of fresh veggies and good flavor. I have also tried the vegetarian enchiladas which were really good too. This place has pretty much the best salsa ever! I could just eat chips and salsa here and be happy. I'm not super crazy about their rice and beans but on the whole I enjoy their food.
Review Source:Ok. Â solid 3 stars, but the salsa is a 5 star for sure. Â Maybe I am use to Mexican food done right in Arizona, but this place just wrapped a tortilla around a chili and called it a relleno ... nope, that's not it. Â The beef taco and enchilada were served with what appeared to me as a part of a hamburger patty (thick one) Â I prefer shredded beef taco's so this did not cut it for me. Â Seemed like cafeteria style. Â
Good service and a nice little town place, but seriously stop here if you are a fan of chips and salsa (which I am)
After a long day at Zion National Park, we headed east to Kanab to try to find something to eat. We're both vegan/vegetarian and it was a Sunday in the winter, so most veggie places in town were closed (very frustrating). We tried Nedra's and were very impressed with the huge separate vegetarian menu. Granted, almost every vegetarian dish had cheese in it, but you can simply ask to have no cheese added. I had the enchiladas which were prepared with spinach and sundried tomatoes and topped with pine nuts. I asked them to leave out the cheese, which they happily did, although it still came with a creamy butter sauce. Although it still wasn't completely vegan, it was delicious, as were the side of beans and rice (all cooked vegetarian style with no lard). Prices were great. Staff were very friendly and the place was very lively.
Review Source:I've eaten here a couple of times. Each time has been disappinting with poor service. The prices are ok for what they serve. Food is bland even for tex mex kind of food they need to take a lesson from Fiesta. I know Fiesta isn't great but it is superior to Nedra's too even Nedra's the original in Fredonia. Take it from me a somwhat local do not eart here if you want mexican food try the fast food mexican place or Fiesta both are oustanding compared to this place.
Review Source:Decent Southwestern food. Â Calling this Mexican is a misnomer - it's got Mexican type specialties, but if you want an authentic Mexican taste, it's not here.
The busboy was awesome. Â We got water quickly, he kept the chips & salsa full (verdict - eat the chips, skip the salsa), and he kept on top of all his duties.
The waitress was a bit slow. Â Ok, very slow. Â And she doesn't know the menu. Â I ordered cheese enchiladas, not knowing that there were onions in them (can't eat). Â When I saw the food, and asked her to get me some without, she's like "But the only onions are on top!" Â The scallions on the inside of my enchilada beg to differ. Â She did get me the replacement without other fussing at me, but she was checking with all her coworkers that onions were supposed to be in them.
Nedra's really hits the spot after a long day of traveling and/or touring. Chips, salsa, and cold water hit the table 2 seconds after we sat down, and attentive service kept our drinks filled the entire time. I took the waitress's recommendation of the chicken enchiladas with white sauce (a house specialty) -- delicious!
Review Source:IIMHO the food was just okay. Â The place was bustling and full of regulars. Â The service was friendly.
We started off by being served hot chips and salsa. We got a 2nd serving before our basket was empty. Â We did have to ask three times to get more salsa.
I had the mini Navajo taco (fry bread with beans, rice, cheese, lettuce, onions and tomatoes). Â The fry bread may have been fried earlier and had no crunch to it. Â I'm a fry bread lover and ate it many times when I taught on the reservation.
Hubby had his usual veggie burrito. Â He declared it okay.
Not a place that I would rush to return to but the mixed crowd of regulars all seemed happy and satisfied with the food.
Exceptionally friendly staff. Â Â John Wayne ate here. Â Not exactly traditional Mexican, but a great attempt for small town Utah. Â Chips are always hot and fresh, portions are large, prices are reasonable, and the food is tasty if not traditional. Â
Best food in Kanab for the price. Â Â Got most of my food money while I lived in the area.
Had the green chili burrito. Â Tasted like Dinty Moore canned beef stew with a side of salt, wrapped in a burnt tortilla. Â I sat for a good 15 minutes before I was waited on, even though I could hear the waitstaff chatting behind me. Â It's amazing how a restaurant could pass this stuff off as food! Â Do yourself a favor and skip this place.
