If one can put a half star they deserve it. Aircon doesn't seem to be working! The food is nothing to write home about and the hostess is not accommodating. Some of their tables have very poor vantage point of their stage. Note to people, this is not a place to bring children since the jokes are downright obscene.
Review Source:Came here with hubby on a Friday Night. We watched Rex Navarrete... Entertainment was great! The two hosts before him were the usual funny ones you see on comedy club bars in the Philippines.
Food was ok, we ordered Sisig... Price is reasonable. We were seated in the bar so there was somebody to take our drink and food orders. I think it works better as a bar than a restaurant
I was here yesterday for a reception, my first time in NoyPitz. Filipino restaurant are all the same when it comes to food quality "OILY". For healthy consious Pinoys, NoyPitz is not the place for you. I am sure the owner is aware, that Pinoys nowadays are very health consious unlike the old days. The old days, Pinoys will scoop those fat floating and drop it on a plate full of rice. They will mix it and that mixture of rice and fat is the best food during those days. Not anymore, more and more Pinoys have realized the bad effect of saturated fat and most have stayed away from these poison foods. Pilipino restaurant should improve their menu and lessen or eliminate the serving of these poison foods. Yesterday, I saw the pork abobo and 2 or more dish floating in oil. I think part of the restaurant moral service is to make sure they serve delicious but healthy food for there customers if only to make there customers happy and at the same time healthy. I don't mind the price, paying a little more to eat a lot healthy food is a little price to pay for oneself who wants to be good and healthy.
Review Source:The concept of the place is really nice, finally a fancy looking filipino restaurant that you could have a dinner out. There's plenty of seating to accommodate huge parties and there is even a large dining patio outside that is enclosed from the street. It's very impressive. $5.00 cover on Saturday nights. Casual or dress impress. Most of the people there were around late 30s to early 60s and mostly Filipinos (or younger people who just moved from the Philippines. not many Fil-Ams). This is where your aunties come to relive their days at the discotech.
HOWEVER. the place definitely needs a lesson in operations. The waiters weren't dressed uniformly (some were wearing short black shorts and tight white blouses although they tried to keep with the black bottom and white tops) so I wasn't sure who was the waiter and who just a guest in the restaurant. Then, I'm not sure if waiters are assigned to tables or they just go to every table but for the first 30 minutes we had about 4 different waiters ask us for drinks and if we were ready to order. Why is that a bad thing? Because it gets confusing who our waiter is as well as making things much more complicated than it has to be. Then the food took forever to come out. -_- Like a normal restaurant, assign waiters to sections of tables and then they can focus on serving those tables properly! Our servers were nice, but their whole system was just inefficient.
FOOD: Sisig was delicious. so was the pancit bihon. The buko pandan was meh. but overall the food was delicious. It feels wrong ordering their filipino drinks (ie coconut juice, mango, etc) because you know that they just bought that at the filipino store and then charged you $3.00 for it. Food was also a bit expensive, but portions were huge so it evens out. I think draft beers were around  6 or 7. You're paying for the ambiance. But I didn't get why some drinks were served in glassware and others were served in plastic cups!!!!!
ENTERTAINMENT
I came here on a Saturday night with my extended family which includes my uncle who isn't filipino. There was a cultural presentation (this was just specifically for this night, not every saturday) followed by a long and winded out comedy sketch. So one thing, I get that it's a Filipino restaurant meant to be attended by Filipinos. But that just means if you don't understand Tagalog you'll sit there for about two hours watching two guys (who are extremely beautiful girls!) chatter on, poke fun at people who come up to karaoke, and do some pretty raunchy things on stage. The jokes and dialogue (both in english and tagalog) was very green "sailor" humor, definitely not family friendly despite the fact that there were kids in the audience. I'm by no means a prude, but watching the girl/guy give a lap dance to some random lolo on the dance floor as part of the program just made the whole place feel second class.
The plus side is that there is a live band after the show (which is what probably everyone was waiting for) for dancing. The dance floor would've been bigger if they got rid of the tables that were there. The band was pretty good too and dancing lasted until 2.
If you wanted to bring your non-Filipino friends to introduce them to Filipino food in a nice (not goldilocks or the cafeteria style places of seafood city), this would've been it. But the two hour show would isolate them right away, as many of the non-Tagalog speakers in the audience felt. My advice to management is to either clean up the show or make it a 21+ show and make it clear that the show is in Tagalog. Or just go straight to dancing, that would've made the night so much better.
This place has a lot of potential to be a go-to place for Filipinos to share Filipino culture. Let's hope that happens.
Came here on a Sunday for what is Salsa night.  It's unfortunate that I will have to give this place a bad rating because I was looking forward to supporting this place.  The décor was okay but the ambiance was nice.  Unfortunately the bad rating will be placed for the poor service that was provided to us. The service that was provided was mediocre at best.  Rice that we ordered never came, refills of water took forever (but the beer and drinks came promptly at the beginning then faded away), and to top it off we waited 30+ minutes to even get the check; and we only got it because we had to wave several of the servers and the bartender down to ask where our waitress is.  And if the issue is because of some other customer's bill; it's really unprofessional to tell us (customer) the issue you had with someone else.  That's why you have manager(s)...let them know the issue and let him know to tend to the group you're servicing if you're unavailable.
The food was okay; but disappointed if this is how service is.
Good for dancing salsa; but keep in mind you'll be disappointed if you sit down and eat because you won't get the proper service with the kind of price tag attached to the meal. Â
I wish this place luck, but unfortunately will not be coming back.
Unfortunately my family had a very unpleasant experience here. They were understaffed to the point we had to get our own water for our tables. For $12 pp, one would expect at a buffet that the food menu served was being replenished to be able to accomodate the amount of customers coming in to dine on a weekend . They ran out of all the food and had no dessert options .My husband and I came here once when it was a week night and we got better service then . If you are looking for a buffet on the weekend , you should stick to other options in Glendale . They have better service on a week night when it is not as busy . To top it off , we had to set up our own tables to seat our group and they still expected a tip!
Review Source:I went here on a Friday night to check it out and destress and eat! Hahha
I keep seeing the commercials for this place on TFC, so we decided to finally go here after work. First of all, there was valet AND a cover charge to get in. This wasn't nor did it look like a club (so yea...weird).
Anyways, we didnt have a reservation, so we were seated in the back. At first I was confused since the place was SUPER empty. But maybe we were early.
We sat down at this tiny table with a paper table covering (like the ones at boiling crab). Is this place supposed to be fancy or casual? Not sure. People were coming in jeans and some in really formal attire. Hahahh again, i was confused.
We ordered shrimp, pancit, and tofu. Seriously, the food was eh. Couldve been WAY better considering it was expensive! Plus to get the waiter's attention, you do have to wave crazily at them to get them to come to you.
Overall, it could've been better.
Came in thursday night with my BF for a salsa class and he was hungry and decided to order some food.
Ordered pork belly dish and sweet potatoes fries. The pork belly was very, VERY greasy but good when you dip it in a vinegar dressing that they give you.
OMG....... can you say slow service, slower than a turtle. Really?!? I guess they don't really care. They don't give you the proper utensils or even enough napkins.
Not a fan and probably not coming back.
In every business, there's always room for improvement. This is mostly a bar set-up, has a party atmosphere and NOT a formal nor usual Filipino restaurant. Dont expect fast service, do it the Filipino way, get the waiter's attention by waiving your hands and yell out loud heheh
I wish this Filipino restaurant the best, I hope its management use Yelp raters poor ratings as a tool for improvement.
DISCLAIMER : THIS RATING IS JUST FOR THE FOOD AND THE RESTAURANT'S GENERAL AMBIANCE...CAN'T COMMENT ON THE ENTERTAINMENT PART.
We were in Glendale this week and I started craving for some Pinoy food and wanted to eat at Max's but my husband suggested we try out this place.
My initial reaction was GREAT! Finally a big Filipino establishment in Glendale!!! Just the establishment's sign alone brought out the Pinoy pride in me. Loved that they had a huge portrait of Manny Pacquio on the wall but disappointed on the fact that they also had Charice Pempengco's (?) alongside with it (...sorry not really a fan of hers, maybe a Pinoy pride but still putting it alongside MP's ??? did'd seem to do justice to the MP's portrait...sorry, not the same level). So anyway...we soon disovered that he place is more a bar than a restaurant. We arrived around 7pm and there were not too many people yet. Only around three to four other groups, DJ's and a couple (who I assume are DI's practicing).
AND THEN MY PINOY PRIDE starts to fizzle!
General Cleanliness of the place :
-Patio area was a mess...chairs were in shambles, there were cigarette butts all over the place and considering that we came early on in the night, you would expect that they've done housekeeping already.
-Upon entering, you get the mixed smell of muskiness and food cooking. The place looked ok...the bar area was nice and huge but the surrounding area looked tacky.
-Toilet...OMG...I took my three year old to the potty and this is what she said "EEEEW...THIS POTTY IS SMELLY!!!" ..nuff said!
Service :
Just OK...they only had one server at this time and you had to call him to get service.
FOOD AND PRICING :
Nothing great. A bit on the expensive side for filipino food.
We ordered three items on the menu :
Calamari - just ok...forgettable but not bad. I liked that they served it on a huge cocktail glass but disappointed that they serve the dipping sauce in a plastic throw away container...C'mon, if you wanna impress with food presentation, do it all the way.
Daing na Bangus (Milk Fish) - The quality of the fish is good. Cooked just right
Kare-Kare - Disappointing! The only good thing I can say about it is that give generous portions of the ox-tail. Unfortunately it was too tough that you can't eat it. Sauce was so-so but too orange for me...didn't look appealing at alll
Food selection on the menu was rather limited and ordinary.
NOTE TO THE MANAGEMENT : I sincerely hope that you take good notes of the comments left on yelp and make necessary improvements. Being a Filipino, I really wish for the best for your establishment. There aren't too much that represents our TRUE food and culture. I hope that you continue to thrive and make good of that representation. We have so much to offer. I think you have a good concept here already especially with the entertainment...but I hope you take good notice in improving the total quality of service (including food). All the best to you!
I went here last night to have dinner with friends that i havent seen in ages. As far as the ambiance, its okay. You have to pay $5 cover charge for the entertainment at night. Not that bad. Well we didnt know that we're supposed to make reservations to get a good table that has the view of the stage where the show is. Because of that our table was at the back of the stage where we cant see anything but we can just hear everything. We like how the show was not your typical show but a comedy bar. We were laughing so hard!! That was a PLUS. Now for the service and food...their service is SLOW. We waited about 30 mins to get out appetizer of calamri which was loaded with SALT. Then we waited another 30-45 mins for our dinner. We ordered pork sinigang and daing na bangus which were both good. And lechon kawali which was ok. And pancit bihon which was loaded with SALT. They just love salt there. I will probably come back just for the entertainment. But I'd rather eat at Max's or some other place first
Review Source:I don't know why everyone's hating on this place. I loved it! I was truly entertained by the two lady boys that were singing and cracking jokes at the expense of our party's token white boys. They knew how to tuck it in real good because one of them was flipping up their dress and you couldn't see a thing and the other one had on a tight black dress (nice legs and shoes, btw) and there was no bulge! Incredible!
The only downside was we had to pay $5 to get in and it was a friend's 40th birthday. The $5 was the cover the cost of entertainment. Totally worth it at the end.
The food was ok. I've had better Filipino food, but I would really only come here for the entertainment. Gotta come here for the experience... 'nough said!
Came here with friends on a Friday night. First you have to pay $5.00 for the entrance. They have good food but pricey, nice place, good customer service, great band (love the songs) but the only downside is the crowd. Lots of older peopler (late 50's to seniors maybe) I was expecting of a typical gimikan in Manila like Hard Rock, Street Life etc where live bands performs and where the crowds are in their early, mid, late 20's and early 30's but not at this place. Â Me and my friends even saw a mom whom I think late 50's dancing like a h***
**if you plan to go here, make sure you have a reservation or you will never be seated especially after 9pm (Friday & Sat).
Oh, Noypitz! Â You poor thing. Â You try so hard. Â You really do. Â You want so badly to fit in. Â Your menu has everything it should...sisig with egg, mussels with Cajun garlic sauce...it cries out, 'I'm cool! Â I'm hip! Â Try me!' Â But the food falls further than flat. Â It falls flat on it's face. Â You just don't deliver. Â You're a poser, a wanna be. Â
Dinner started with a flustered waitress from the moment she showed up table side (and then immediately disappeared again) and we had to wait for everything.  Drinks, menus, ordering - EVERYTHING.  Then food started showing up...in dribs and drabs...not all at once.  People were awkwardly waiting for the next dish, not knowing when the next would  arrive.  We ordered scallops (hard as hockey pucks), kare kare, pancit miki bihon, pinakbet, plus two other dishes that I cannot even recall.  Nothing tasted right.  I can only describe them as: Yuck.  Bleck. Ick. Â
I was here last year and decided to revisit. Â Such a disappointment. Â I was going to write more but I've lost interest in this review...just as I lost interest in my dinner the other night. Â I won't be back, Nopitz.
I haven't wrote a yelp review in a while but eating here lastnight with my family made me want to review this place to warn people to stay away. Â
I'm not surprised this place has gotten such low marks. Â We came on a Saturday night and unless you come really early, it's very hard to find parking and you must valet. Â Now there's a church parking lot across the street around the back but I'm not sure if you're allowed to park there. Â
Now once you get passed the parking delimnna, you get greeted by a security guard and asked to pay a cover charge? Â wtf?!?! Â is this place a club? Â So fine I pay $5 to get in and get seated on foldout tables and foldout chairs with paper table tops like the ones you get at Boiling Crab.
The waitress comes and takes our drink orders so we asked for water and some of my family members ordered soft drinks. Â The drinks came in plastic cups which I thought was really tacky. Â And they only seem to serve bottled water yet the waitress doesn't tell you that when you order. Â
We ordered a number of dishes from the menu and the first thing I noticed about the menu was the insane prices they are charging which ranged from around $12 and up for main ala carte entre's. Â Food quality is not great, Â very mediocre and average at best. Â Not worth the price they are charging for these dishes. Â
Service was on par with what you typically get at filipino restaurant, I don't remember the waitress ever coming back to ask how we were doing and if wanted more drinks etc. Â What I thought was really rude was at the end when we were still waiting for the waitress to give us the check. Â One of the workers was telling some of the children and a couple of my family members seated at the end of our table to get up so they can clean up and use the table for other guest waiting to be seated before we were done and got up to leave. Â
Entertainment is hit or miss I guess, they have some sort of karoake show with 2 drag-queens. Â I can see how some people can find this funny and entertaining but at the same time it can be very rude to others. Â The jokes can be rather offending so just be warned when you come here for the show. Â
I hardly ever give bad reviews on yelp since most of my experiences at the restaurants I have reviewed have been pretty pleasant but this place is just horrible. Â Overall I will not be returning to this place and wouldn't recommend this place at all to anyone I know. Â Way not worth the money. Â
No parking, pricey for mediocre average food, bad service. Â If you're going to charge that much to eat here with a cover charge then I would expect drinks to not come in plastic cups, condiments not being served in plastic containers, and not to be seated in a folding chair and fold out table that you rent out for parties.
STAY AWAY!!!
Horrible food. Â Not vegetarian friendly. Entertainment was hardly that. Had terrible experience. Found needle and thread in noodle which caused mouth injury. When issue was brought to attention of owner, he was not sincere about incident. Not recommended and will never return. Waste of money. Overpriced for lack of quality of menu items.
Review Source:What is Noypitz? Â Is it a Salsa dance venue? A Kareoke bar? Â A place to see Filipino singers? A comedy club? A jazz place? Â A dance club? Or a Filipino restaurant? Â Depending on what night you go, it could be any of these things...
Nevertheless, we had a good time for the Sunday salsa. Admission was $12 per person, which got you a bachata and a salsa lesson, open salsa dancing and finally a salsa band. Â I especially have to give props to the instructors because they did something totally the opposite of what most other folks do. Namely, they told everyone to feel free to record them doing the pattern if you wanted to practice it later.
Like a lot of places that offer salsa, the dance floor unfortunately was a bit too small for the crowd. If they continue to grow their salsa night, I'd recommend taking a few tables away near the dance floor. Just a suggestion...
As for the band, I swear to you the trumpet player looked just like Jesus. Awesome! I always new Jesus could play!
I have to come back for a friends birthday party, so I'll be able to report on the food later. In the meantime, I'm glad to know we've got yet another location for salsa! :-)
P.S. Cash only admission for salsa.
P.P.S. Don't get ripped off by their ATM. There are quite a few banks on Brand.
P.P.P.S. Did you know that Noypitz is a play on "Pinoy", which means basically Filipino guy in Tagalog
why is this place still open is what I asked myself after a horrible night !
service is non-existent, waiters sucks, bar tender sucks and manager sucks, has a terrible attitude like I'm asking for a loan.
food quality is horrible at best, chef ron is an idiot and has poor taste for recommending this place. chef ron is probably getting paid a lot to say embellished  reviews. i hope chef ron chokes on his food for saying that the food here is good.
Door fee? seriously? I'm here to have dinner and not have my eardrums injured by the blaring music.
NO parking, NO service, NO good drinks, NO talent bar tender, NO good entertainment (would have been better to keep it quiet), TERRIBLE sound system (people here must be deaf), HOT - A/C must be broken, DIRTY stinking restrooms, I don't even want to imagine how their kitchen looks like.
AUTOMATIC Â gratuity? for 2 people? I would have given more if there is a good reason for it.
I did not expect PATINA or SPAGO but lamentably noypitz (armpits) did not even measure up to McDonalds.
SHAME on this place for giving Filipinos a bad rap.
If you like punishment, aggravation and a chance to nurture your homicidal tendency then noypitz-ARMPITS is for you.
if you want a decent meal unmolested - McDonalds will put this place to shame.
I'll throw a party when this place finally CLOSE Â !!!!
people smoking by the door? so patrons can get a whiff of second hand smoke before & after dinner? i believe the health department may have something to say about this. i pray that they shut them down for violations.
After reading most reviews, I was a little apprehensive about coming here, but it really wasn't too bad. We did come on a Wednesday night for dinner, but the place was still pretty much empty. I think the food did take a while, and it was given to use at odd times, but not much complaining with the service.
It was karaoke night, and the two hosts were hilarious. I kind of wish we could have stayed longer to just hear them sing and to sing as well! I think this would be a really fun place to drink and sing at for sure, maybe not to sit down and eat.
Service was really bad. Supervisor/manager was unhelpful.
Refuses to serve tap water and insist you order a ridiculously priced bottled water.
It took them a long time to give me back my credit card. I even had to asked them what happened to it. It took them a good 20 mins to give me back my card!
Why are all Filipino restaurants mediocre? :(
Sisig was passable. Didn't really want to get anything else... I do give this place points for (looking) cleaner than most other Filipino restaurants. Who knows what the kitchen looks like, though? I heard that the food gets worse when they have the event nights with people singing.
Basically the hangout spot for older Filipinos and some younger fobs that get dragged here because of their family. I don't think they're gonna go out of business despite the awful reviews on here because of their loyal fanbase of nanays. (I'm Filipino, my mother and her friends are always partying it up at this place.)
tl;dr: the hip place for older filipinos and fobs. food is whatever. every filipino restaurant sucks. get your filipino food from some friend's lola. not exactly great "ambience" but they get another star for not being straight up disgusting like other filipino places.
The worst. I come back because my wife likes to come here to meet with her friends. Every visit is terrible. Everytime I turned around, the security was asking our group to move away from some area, not do something, etc. I never could get comfortable. . Final straw was when the bartender said I couldn't have a glass of tap water without paying $2. I already paid a cover and was gouged for drinks. I was the designated driver and just want some water. No dice unless u pay $2 a glass. Is that even legal??
Review Source:Came here for a party and when I got in it felt like I was still outside. Hotter than a witches p_ Â _ _y!! Omfg!! (excuse my Tagalog lol) but damn I know we are trying to save on Electricity but dude turn on the air.. You have a party going on! I really don't known if they informed my friend of any apologizes but i sure hope they gave a big discount. And not for being excruciating HOT but also for not being table ready at 3pm.
I can go on and on about how f'n hot it was inside but oh well. Â It is what it is!! That's why you only get 1 star for decent food. Â We got many dishes which was good and filling.
Calamari= good but dude we had a full table give us 2 and make the plate full.
Beef steak= onions not fully cooked. Had fries in that.
Kare Kare= very good. Thick, extra meat Other than oxtail, tripe and veggies. Good job!
Sinigang= I didn't taste it cause I'm not a fan of that.
White rice well it's rice.
Service eh could be way better. Â Fill up the water please with ICE cause it sure is damn HOT in here with NO AC. Â The funny thing is the billiard and downstairs bathroom is freakin cold. All that cold air should be going upstairs. WTF
Hello everyone, to avoid all the hazards, disappointments & fear of going to NoyPitz. Here are a few advises, facts and trivia that you might benefit from:
ALERT!
I Checked out NoyPitz to find out what's great & worst about it:
#1 Make a reservation if u need a table "inside."
#2 ARRIVE @ 6 or 7pm only! After that time order & drinks may take nearly 45 mins or more. Also, if you arrived early, U will find free free parking in front instead of valet parking.
#3 If having dinner, order all foods & drinks right away, enjoy dinner from 7-9 pm
#4 If appetizers only, sit at the bar near entrance, view is great! It's far away from the comedians! alaskado ka ka-pag nearby
#5 follow all this & u won't regret it :D)
#6 do not sit outside or else you may not get your order & drinks for 1-2 hrs or never at all
#7 if u want to sing, dance & joke around with comedians sit close to the center stage, you'll be the "joke of the night." Dress appropriately, if u know what I mean
#8 bring cash. Pay as u order, getting the tab may take another 45 mins to 1-hour too. Chances of mistake on your bill will be quite high
#9 and @ 9:00 pm, there's no parking, no more seats for your lovely tush, all order including drinks takes forever, you are IT with the comedians, hard to see the stage cuz you're outside staring at people, their foods & drinks. Â
#10 Outside Patio is for smokers, 100% cancer SHS (second-hand smoke), you will inhale nicotine and toxic you did NOT ORDER (NOT FREE! cuz it will cause u something (cancer).
I have no comment on the quality of their dinner because I went to NoyPitz for appetizers, drinks & comedy show only.
Follow all advises I mentioned above and you will have a great time, appetizers, drinks & fun at NoyPitz. Â Oh by the way, do not wear a tight girdle, cuz you will definitely break loose from it from laughing so hard at the comedy show.
Cheers!
I came here with a few friends and cousins to support a couple friends I had playing in the band that was performing that night. I feel like a lot of the reviews are a bit too harsh. I'm assuming most of these people are Filipino since lets face it, if you are Filipino you must admit that you know how critical Filipino's can be. I don't recall ever meeting a Filipino that said a Filipino restaurant was great. They would never admit it. I'm sorry for being honest about my opinion.
The food was satisfying. It wasn't mind blowing but it was decent. The customer service can brush up on certain things but they weren't that bad. Everything I requested was done in a timely manner. We pretty much finished all our food. It was good pulutan. We had Pancit, Sisig, Crispy Pata, Lumpia, and a few other items. Again, every thing was satisfying but not anything impressive.
We all had fun. We loved hanging out on the dance floor. I even got on the stage and jammed with the band.
I'm always weary of Filipino restaurants. Â Simply put, they just don't beat mom's cooking. Â When my mom suggest we go to Noypitz for dinner, I figured I should give it a try. Â Mom is usually right, right? Â
We arrived around 5:30 on a Sunday. Â The patio was empty, and the inside was empty except for a band having a jam session. Â No one greeted us. Â A guy was on the phone and avoided making eye contact. Â Were they open? Â We finally made eye contact with the bartender who said they were open, but they had a special event at 6:30. Â
We sat outside, but my mom ruled out several tables because they had ashtrays filled with cigarette ash. Â The table we chose was dirty. Â Since the bartender didn't clean it, my mom took out a tissue from her purse and cleaned it herself.
Mom noticed that the menu had changed. Â They no longer served the BBQ that my mom wanted me to try. Â Instead we ordered the crispy pata, pancit canton and chicharon bulaklak. Â The crispy pata was indeed crispy, moist and tender. Â The chicharon was also crispy and not oily. Â The pancit was served in a bowl with the soup still remaining.
Was the food okay? Â Yes. Â Was the service okay? Â Yes. Â We didn't have the long wait like some other yelpers, and our server was fine. Â Will I come back? Â Probably not. Â Only unless my mom wants to go.
Noypitz is located at the restaurant graveyard. Â Since this place changed from a cheesy Italian place, it has been about four other restaurants, some not lasting more than two months. Â So I thought we give it a try since my date is Filipino and wanting a taste of her homeland.
The patio seems nice but then you realize about two thirds of it is layered in cigarette smoke. Â It looks like LA did thirty years ago, just a layer of smoke. The one third that is clear is from Filipino kids from anywhere four to eight running back and forth, sucking in second hand smoke and disturbing the settling filth.
Ok, well lets go in then. Â Upon entering, you feel like you are transported to a bar in Manila. Â There was a stage with a transgender "woman" screaming into a microphone since the volume was only at ear shattering levels. Â But at least it is in Tagalog so I understood nothing. Â The crowd is composed of 100% Filipinos (well and me) who seem equally divided into finding the ladyboy hilarious and the other half seemingly ordered to be there as if it is part of some driving school. Â All looked at me and wondered why I was in there. Â So did I.
No one comes to assist you regarding seating. Â And on this Friday night, the place was wall to wall with Filipinos. Â I didn't see any place to sit. Â I went over to what I think was a manager who called someone else who tried to yell at some of the guest to move for us. Â This caused even more intense looks wondering why I was there. Â So did I. Â Thankfully, my date suggested braving the cigarette smoke outside. Â I agreed just as half the room laughed at what I assume was a punchline from the stage. Â The other half of the room looked relieved that I was leaving. Â I agreed with that half of the room.
I assumed once we sat down, we would be quickly forgotten sitting outside since the only thing people were doing were smoking and running (if you were under the age of eight.) Â But to my surprise, after a few minutes, running with the eight year olds was our waitress. Â She did seem to hustle all night. Â She dropped off two broken menus, the pages were falling out, and asked for our drink orders. Â My date tried to order a cocktail but each time the waitress said she wasn't sure if they had that. Â I ordered water.
About ten minutes later and a half a pack of second hand smoke, our waitress returned with my date's last choice in drinks, an inch thick stack of cocktail napkins but no water. Â She took our order, left the dis-repaired menus and vanished into the smoke.
We waited for our food, and the waitress brought out our food just after one of the kids vomited on the patio, either from too much running, too much smoke or a combination of both. Â The waitress adroitly stepped over the hazard and delivered our food just as the mother patted her kid on the butt and the running began anew. Â We ordered Chicken Adobo (called something else on the menu.) Â It was burned on the outside and dry and not that tasty. Â Maybe that kid had the chicken for dinner. Â The pancet was a little better but completely forgettable. Â The best thing was the water when that was finally delivered. Â We weren't given knives for the chicken or napkins but instead used the stack of cocktail napkins.
If you always wanted to visit the Philippines but didn't have a passport, were scared of the food or felt you would be out of place, you can go to Noypitz without the passport and experience the last two right here in Glendale. Â With all the Filipinos in Glendale, you would think there would be a good Filipino restaurant but Noypitz is not it. Â No way I would go back unless it was a dare.
Came here for the first time for my cousins birthday party. Upon entering I loved the outdoor patio! Not just some chairs and heat lamps for a place to have a smoke but really a "patio" glass tables with chairs lamps, canopy tent for entering into the restaurant and lights lined around. Valet was a super plus for me because I was worried i would have to scour for parking! Luckily there was a band playing and a magic show! Never ever heard of a magician at a restaurant before and he was absolutely awesome! I took my bff with me as well and she was at the edge of her seat during the show.
The food was pretty good had kare kare and crispy pata. Kare Kare is my all time fave and they did pretty good, i guess im just used to home cooked but still id eat noypitz' kare kare again. Crispy pata was just delish! I tried other dishes as well and they did pretty good. As for staff im impressed they came by to check on us alot during the night because that night was super packed! All in all id love to go back but i wish and hope they open one close to home, Long Beach or in the OC.
Just had our lunch here today for the first time. When we came in there were only 4 people inside...me, my friend, the owner and the cook :)
This place needs to do some serious advertising for lunch hours....seriously!! But even though it felt like a ghost town inside, the food we ordered were actually really good! We had the fried calamari, sisig with egg and the crispy binogoongan. Yummmm!
It's right next to the church, so if you've cheated on your diet, you can easily walk across the street for some confessions.
I give it 3 stars for the 3 dishes we ordered and (since we're the only customers) "For Fast Service!!"
Another thing...I think this will be a cool place to catch the Laker game since they have TVs all over the place and a full bar!! Go Lakers!!!
OMG seriously? Â How do they survive? Â The photos I took
look amazing? Right? Indeed looks are certainly deceiving
when it comes to the flavor of this place.
The vegetables on the kare-kare felt like they weren't even
boiled. Â I mean everyone knows squash takes a while to
soften and this mofo felt like it was just peeled, washed, and
thrown in the stew. Â I mean seriously?
The pancit lacked flavor. Â The oxtails in the kare kare I couldnt
even bite into. Â Did they even boil or simmer anything? Â The same
goes for the vegetables on the pinakbet. Â Cmon guys. Â You
have to soften these vegetables, please.
We came in for my gf's baby's baptismal celebration.
Service is certainly SLOW. Â
The reason why they get a 1 star is for my drink from the bar.
And their crispy pata was actually moist and tender!!! GO
figure!!! hahahahahaha
I just feel bad my gf has to pay so much $ for the reception
to take place here.
Interior is nice and big with a bar in the middle of the room and a stage on the far side. Otherwise, it's a lounge-y looking sit-down restaurant with many windows.
I came here with a big, meetup group and we reserved a red-walled room downstairs (about medium sized with a pool table) where we had a buffet dinner for about $24, where we had set up a karaoke, and we had a grand ol' time thanks to our great host who set up the party. Â
Several of the dishes were a bit unfamiliar, but fairly good--the chicken/duck, salad, egg rolls, soup, glass noodles, and the like. Â The use of soy sauce were a bit common, and the soup had a sour flavor which might be an acquired taste, but I went back for it. Overall, though, the food here may be a bit of an acquired taste. It was perhaps a bit too salty for my personal taste. Â
Around 10pm on the main (upper) floor, lights went out, the dance floor was opened and a live band was playing fast but familiar dance songs as disco lights came on. Â The whole mood was popular with the 20's crowd, it seems.
This is for John M:
There are good Filipino restaurants. They're just not in Glendale.
I can only assume you were being sarcastic because American, Japanese, and Greek cuisine is mediocre at best and should not be compared to Italian or French fare...EVER. Sure Greece has a Mediterranean coast line, but its food could not hold a candle to that of the French or Italians. Even the Spanish have them beat by a mile.
And just because of the proliferation sushi spots on every street in LA (most of which cater to the bland palates of the average gringo), that doesn't make Japanese food any better. It's still just a cut up raw fish and some rice. Nothing too hard about that in all honesty.
And American cuisine...wonder bread and hot dogs? Hardly a cuisine my friend. Now if you're talking Southern food, then maybe you can make a case. But until you can make a point without sounding like a tard, just STFU or DIAF.
Wow! So many low star ratings... LOL!
Its by a church, no parking, too noisy... wah...wah...wah! WTF! STFU!
Ok, to be fair... Noypitz is not all bad! Decent food... Only tried 2 dishes here. We were on a drinking mode. We tried the crispy dinuguan (chicharron with pork blood stew)... This was just ok... We also tried the crispy binogoongan (chicarron cooked in coconut milk and shrimp paste)... I loved this one! Not salty, great presentation... So yummy! They sell domestic beer by the bucket too. 5 for $20 from what I remembered. Not bad!
Noypitz is a live venue/ sports bar/ restaurant... So if you're looking for an intimate place to have dinner. Go somewhere else! They have live entertainment and djs in certain nights! They have plenty of flat screen to watch your favorite game too.
Yeah, its kinda hard to park I imagine because they're on Brand Blvd. HELLO!!!! Welcome to L.A.! Just be glad your not parking in Hollywood!
About the service, even though I could see why people complain about the service... this place is so huge! But our server was a rock star so NO COMMENT!
Overall, we went to have a few drinks with friends here and caught a acoustic show... My experience was ok and enjoyable!
The only downside eating dinner here for me... they charge entrance fee if they have a special guest playing/singing that night. Imagine spending dinner for 5 here and paying cover per head too! Bummer!
I wonder why I even dared try this place! Â It was a Sunday, Â we were coming out of church, so we were like, "wow, how convenient, a nice Filipino buffet place", Â finally right? Â WRONG! Â Food is mediocre to say the least, they tried to plate it nice but I am assuming these are all line cooks in the back and no real chef working the menu, Â bad bad bad food. Â Terrible for the price. Â Service is lackluster and I can go on, and on and on and on... Â
Now I really appreciate the lines at MAX's in Glendale (I had a separate review for this). Â
I wanted to like this place so much because the location is perfect! Â Imagine all the throngs of Filipino and non-Filipino church goers who would definitely give this place a shot and possibly return. Â I should have followed my gut (and my wife's) when we noticed a not so busy place, especially that there were hundreds of people coming out of the church who were hungry. Â
This is an opportunity being missed big time by the owners who run this place. Â The location has the potential to capture a large following especially now that FIlipino food is going mainstream in the US. Â
I feel embarrassed that this place carries the Philippine colors (and name sort of) because we do have great tasting food and FIlipinos are known for excellent service worldwide, yet this place fails in all those aspects.
I should've known as soon as we entered that we should've left. We happened to stumble in on a Sunday night when the band was playing, and I was praying their speakers would blow considering how loud it was. Moreover, they sucked!
Upon opening the menu, I was hoping to see something more elegant, if it possible, than your regular Max's. It was definitely not the case, and who charges $18 for crispy pata?!? Â Gotta say the closest I've seen for high (not fine) dining was Intramuros in Daly City.
Lastly, we got our lechon, but it took over 20 minutes just to get our pancit. Â Definitely never coming back...I'm headed to Magic Wok next time I need my Filipino fix!
Customer service is absolutely terrible. The dishes here are hit and miss, the food that was not completely awful was decent.
Sinigang, (a tamarind based soup) is supposed to be sour, but they managed to make it overly salty. The pork in the soup was tender I'll give them that, but the salty soup was unacceptable. We informed the waitress that the soup was way too salty and she simply replied with "Oh it's too salty?", she didn't bother to notify the cook, offer a replacement or any remedy for that matter. This speaks volumes of the service and their regard for customer satisfaction.
Their sisig was okay, definitely not the best I've had but could be better. The lechon kawali was good, I had no complaints about that. Plain rice is $3 and we were told that each order would be for 2 people, this was not the case. With a party of four, we finished the first order of rice and barely touched the second. Not a big deal, but it seems that the server misinformed us.
As far as the dining experience, I understand the place is a bar after hours but it's pretty annoying to try to eat while a band is setting up and belching out nonsense on their instruments with the amps on. This was a Saturday night, but at 6:30pm I would think that they would be prioritizing the experience for diners.
Lastly, I've never been to a restaurant that charges an automatic 15% gratuity for a party of 4. The norm is a party of 6, but a party of 4? That's just outrageous. The service didn't even merit a 15% gratuity. With all the said, I won't be coming back.
