Hubby and I came here to see Lewis Black. The theatre is small but I appreciated that because it turns out we were in the last row of the theatre and we still had a pretty decent view.
I would have given it five stars except for the massive crowds which I always hate dealing with. Lewis Black is extremely popular so we were dealing with a sold out show. I felt like everyone was sitting on top of each other and it was nearly impossible to get where you had to go during the break in between the warm up comic and Lewis Black. Parking it seems is also a problem when the show is sold out, we parked by the office building next to the theatre because that's where we were being directed when we were getting ready to pull into the parking lot.
One other note this is a theatre in the round it seems, which is also very nice. A round theatre is not seen very often but in my opnion it's the most intimate viewing experience.
What can I say. I love seeing shows and concerts here. I'm not reviewing a specific show, but the place itself. Â Unlike Jones Beach Nikon theater, You can get drinks here. They have a nice outside area to hang out in before the show. They always have some free stuff to hand out from different vendors. Â There's no bad seats because the stage rotates. My only complaint about the place is trying to leave, after all these years you'd think they would have made a second way out. And the fact that the parking lot guys extort cash from the patrons if you want to park on the left side to be able to make a quick exit. Other than that it's a great place for a show.
Review Source:Everyone can whine and complain all they want about this venue being too small or lame or whatever, but I happen to prefer this venue over any others in or around Long Island. Â Hmm let's see our other options;
1) Nassau Coliseum which sucks bigfoot's dick. Â It's about to crumble to the ground and should be demolished at once. Expensive to park and you still have to walk what feels like a million miles. The sound quality is awful. Â I could go on and on.
2) Â MSG. Â A great venue, but I am too lazy and cheap to venture into Manhattan and pay $20 per person round trip and deal with the LIRR, hustle & bustle and the smell of urine in the city.
The great thing about Westbury is that there is FREE, convenient parking and no matter where your seat is, it's a good seat because it's so small.  The way it's set up is that the stage is in the center of a circle, the rows and aisles slope down so you are looking down at the performance, not straight ahead.  The circle also moves around which allows you to always have a full, unobstructed view.  The sound quality is the best.  There's  no such thing as a bad seat at Westbury and it's conveniently located right off the Northern State Parkway on Brush Hollow Rd. Â
So far, I've seen the Fresh Beat Band, the Wiggles, Hall & Oates and Darius Rucker here and have been impressed every single time. Â I guess my only complaint would be that if you go to buy tickets for a show here, be very careful not to accidentally click on a ticket broker's website. Â For some reason, Live Nation isn't the first site to pop up on a Google search and if you aren't an experienced ticket buyer, you are lead to believe that only these random broker sites are selling the tickets and you will be charged astronomical prices for cheap tickets. Be smart - if the show is not sold out, ALWAYS go to LIVENATION.COM and ONLY Live Nation to buy tickets to any show here and save a ton of money. Â There's also always Stubhub if it's a sold out show which is legit and won't completely rip you off.
This was our first time attending a concert here. We took our toddler to see a children's show. It was a nice enough venue. The theatre-in-the-round setting is a little more intimate than the usual concert set-up and we really liked that.
However, I did not appreciate the sketchy feeling I got in the parking lot. The attendant wanted to give us a "better" spot in exchange for a cash tip. Not cool. And then there were the T-shirt hawkers. They wanted to sell us a cheaper version of the real thing outside. That's fine, I have no problem with people trying to make a buck. But do you have to come right up to my car door as I'm opening it? That totally infringed on my personal space and I was creeped out. I mean, we were trying to get our child out of the car and you're on top of us, demanding that we give you our time!? Sooo not cool.
Will probably go back, but I hope the parking lot situation improves by then.
CHAOS and UTTER CONFUSION.  My family and I will rethink ever visiting Westbury again.  What I don't understand is there are attendants in the parking lot guiding each car into spots which clearly, is NOT needed.  What IS needed is getting out of the lot.  It took us a full 45 minutes to leave the lot after the John Pinette show.  SO AGGRAVATING.  This has been an issue for as long as I can remember.  Attendants should be directing traffic out of the lot, not into the lot.  I hope others write in to Westbury  and they finally do something about this.  So ridiculous - this can be remedied if Westbury's management put some thought into this.
Review Source:This is an arena style theater. I went to see Fabolous, Meek Mill, and French Montana here last Friday and had a great time. Arrived an hour early so I had a great parking space (parking is included in the ticket). It's a great venue where everyone is able to see the stage perfectly. Fabolous performed for our section of the crowd for most of the time, and I sort of felt bad for the ones on the other side who were blocked due to all the random people who got onto the stage. The overall sound quality is good as well.
They have a no smoking policy, but people still light up inside. The security don't really care what you do at all after checking your stuff at the entrance. Fabolous had to stop in the middle of his act to tell people to get off the stage and it took about 10 min for some of them to. By the end of the show, he could barely walk as everyone just got onto the stage like they were part of his crew, while security just stood there and gave up...
I would give it 4 stars for the overall experience. 5 if the security was a bit tighter. Other than that, great venue, great time, good parking spot, great show.
Went to see Debbie Gibson and Tiffany here last Friday night. the concert sucked, but overall this was a nice place. All of the previous reviewers are correct with what they had to say about the theatre.
The Highs - There isn't a bad seat in the house, and everything is up close. I had my tickets in the first row, but even as far back as the last row is still a good seat. Tickets are reasonably priced.
The Lows - Lots of them unfortunately. The theatre has a musty, nursing home smell to it. It's not pleasant. It could be from the bathrooms, I guess. The bathrooms were dirty, they were not clean at all. The place is an absolute bitch to get to, especially any NJ people like myself who have to battle through S.I., Brooklyn, Queens, and then the LI expressway. Parking is somewhat of a problem, but I had VIP. One final drawback was that I was the first row, and I was really jammed in. I am 6'1 and their wasn't any room for me to move my legs. I might get something in the second row next time.
I'd probably go back for the following reasons : NYCB has great shows coming in at all times of the year. I'd love to see Blondie and John Edwards. Secondly, my 3 star opinion is based on the seating, it's all pretty close.
This place used to be somewhat of a dump but now pretty nice, especially since they added a new VIP Lounge which is where you will find me lol Its pretty cool though...you get your special side entrance, wrist bands that make you feel special, access to the bar and snacks! The one cool thing about the venue its self is that it is really small as far as venues go, seating is circular with the stage in the center so no seat in the house is really a bad seat! The parking is never an issue here but leaving is because there is only one exit so enjoy the race to leave! The one thing I would like to say if management is reading this, crank up the A/C because it gets pretty hot in there with all those people packed so close together!
Review Source:Have gone to many concerts there, and jonathan Edwards every year. Â There is not one bad seat in the house. Worth schleping to from wherever you live! it seats under a thousand but ou feel like you are in a cozy small place.
Parking is horrible, so make sure you get there extra early..worth it
This 2,800 seater, is a round, arena style theater. Â This theater (through Live Nation) brings great shows to this part of Long Island that otherwise, we could not see unless we went into the city. Â I've seen comedians like Kathy Griffin (twice) and Margaret Cho to music performances like Michael Feinstein with Linda Eder among other.
There are a few drawbacks to this place...
First, the parking. Â The issue with Capital One Theater is that there is only one entrance/exit to the huge theater parking lot. Â And the location is horrible... the line for those of us who drive via the NSP, the line to get into the theater starts all the way into the parkway.
Then, when you finally make your way into the lot, the theater has 'guides' that helps keep the traffic moving. Â However, if you shell out some dough (and I mean... at least $5), you can discretely pass it over to the parking attendant guarding the VIP section and they let you in; which is bribery and a huge rip-off...
And forget getting out of the theater! Â It will take you forever! Â In fact, when I came to see Kathy Griffin, she had two shows on the same night. Â As we were leaving from the first show, the crowd for the second show was trying to get into the lot. Â With only one entrance and thousands of cars converging trying to get in and out, it took us over an hour to make it to the exit. Â Ridiculous! ... and what about safety????
Oh... Â and there is no public transportation near or walking distance from the theater. Â The closest is the LIRR to Westbury and you still have to take a taxi.
My suggestion: Â park in one of the other businesses parking lots around the theater. Â Even though they have post signs that cars can be towed, they do allow you to park (so the parking attendants say) as all of those businesses are closed for the night. Â Then walk down to the theater. Â When you leave, you will be glad you did! Â And I did once! Â I was on my way in less than 5 minutes!
When you go into the theater lobby, the bar is located to the right and the line forms across/perpendicular the entrance; which means that you have to walk through at least three rows of people to make it to the entrance of the theater. Â
For the men restrooms, you need a boat and a paddle to get to an urinal. Â From the 5 times I've been here, the men's restroom is always flooded... with water all over the floor, muddy and smelly. Â One time ok... but 5 times already? Â Please! Â And forget for those men who wear flip-flops and do not know how to dress properly for a theater. Â The feet will be very wet after going to the bathroom!
The theater has a great sound system. Â The round stage turns around which is nice because everyone gets a great view of the person(s) on stage. Â
Finally, I gave it a 3 stars just because, as stated at the beginning of my review, it does bring great performances to this part of town. Â But the facilities do need some renovation and they do need to get some better and more creative way to get people in and out of the theater parking lot fast and quickly; without having to bribe a parking attendant to get a good spot to park.
