The food was good but I will not give them money in the future. They  "All Domestics $2.50" then charged me full price for my Goose Islands. Believe it or not, Goose Island is just as domestic as that frat boy Budweiser crap "you meant to say." The food was good, but I won't be back.

I haven't had a bad experience here.  Friendly staff, good food, and laid back atmosphere.  Thursday night is karaoke night, which I've attended several times and had a lot of fun.  It's especially entertaining when the locals take the mic and freestyle rap.

I`m a big fan of their cherry coke; it's unlimited refills, they add their own cherry flavor, and it's only $2. However, the rest of the menu seems a bit pricey, but that's only because they give you so much food. Every item on the menu seems to come with  soup (my feverite is the french onion) and unlimited freshly baked bread. This place looks so much better than when it was Tommy O's. Wait staff has been friendly. I am always over stuffed when I leave.

Unfortunately, this was the worst restaurant I've been too. There are far too many things to list, so I will simply list the highlights.

It was me, my wife and her sister.  We were looking forward to going out and having a nice time.  We all love to eat, drink and be merry, and it seemed like Oak Street Restaurant and Bar was interesting enough to give it a try.  We all left feeling sick to our stomachs.

We ordered drinks first, with our appetizers.  Wine for my wife (which is hard to mess up, so it's a good thing they didn't), Tequila sunrise for me, a Margarita for my sister in law, and vegetarian nachos for the table.  Besides the wine, our drinks tasted like they were straight from a premix jar; something we could have done ourselves, instead of paying $8 a piece. The thing is though, it took 15 minutes to even get a sip.  They weren't busy.

(There was also not a note of music being played, which is sometimes sort of nice to have in a bar type restaurant. There were about a dozen tvs on though, without any sound.  It was just an eerie feeling.)

After about 25 minutes, the waiter, (who was super nervous and inexperienced, so I won't hold that against him...but still, needs much much more training) informed us that the kitchen accidentally covered the nachos in ground beef, and wondered if we still wanted them.  My wife is a vegetarian, so no we didn't.  They were happy to make us a fresh batch.  Now 50 minutes into waiting, they came back and said they were now out of nachos.  Weird. I didn't think it would take another 20 minutes to figure out they didn't have any more. So, we got onion rings, comped--which was a little redeeming, (But did this need to take an hour?)

For dinner, my wife ordered the Greek salad, my sister in law, the chicken fajita wrap, and for myself, the chicken marsala.  My wife's salad was covered in really gross, hairy, rubbery anchovies; and of course being a vegetarian, she could not eat it.  (Even if she wasn't, she still could not eat it, because it was disgusting.)  We tried picking them off, but everyone lost their appetite by then.  They looked like little hairy snakes.  They were nice enough to make a new salad, since they must have forgotten that she was vegetarian; unfortunately the menu didn't list anchovies as an ingredient in the salad, or else she wouldn't have ordered it.  The rest of the salad was equally bad; advertised as having romain lettuce, it was actually watery iceberg.  The dressing was homemade, but was just really under par. The weirdest thing was, the manager stopped by to let us know she ate the salad my wife returned.  Just weird.

My sister in law's chicken fajita wrap was totally unseasoned and disgusting.  It was served with fries and a warm, rubbery pickle--because nothing says the flavors of Mexican like fries and a pickle.

The chicken marsala was fried--which is fine-but it was totally soggy. It must have been sitting for a long time. It was served with a side of pasta, with no sauce.  Just dry pasta.  And a huge hunk of broccoli, which was also rubbery.  (Far too many things that we ate that night were rubbery.)

We all ate two or three bites of our food, and couldn't stomach the rest.  I tried ordering another drink to at least end the night on a positive note, but the server again waited another 15 minutes to bring it out.  By then I just wanted to get out of there.

For the 3 of us, we paid $65 dollars, and that was minus the comped appetizer.  We could have spent the same amount at the Turf Room down the street, had a great meal, and a good time.  (I even had the privilege of paying more for my dinner than I wanted to, since they charged me for a chicken parmesan instead of chicken marsala.)

We won't be coming back, I'm sorry to say.

I think I need to explain that this review is as much a comparison to the previous tenants of this location as it about this restaurant itself.  Not that it would take much, but what a huge improvement over Tommie O's.  Once we arrived and the front of the building was devoid of the street pharmacists that plagued Tommie O's, I knew Oak St. was already moving in the right direction.

Casual, simple and bright are the first things that popped into my head.  The 'stone' that now dominates the entire back wall looked nice and all the partitions and other crap was gutter to create a large open dining space separated by an open wall with a large bar area next to it. We arrived around 10 p.m. for a late dinner and joined a couple of other tables dining and a fairly large crowd at the bar. I would say the vast majority of folks were 20 -30's and were dressed as if Oak St. was pregame for some other late night spots.  Pleasantly surprised to find a young-ish crowd in North Aurora at somewhere not named The Turf Room.

Good selection of beer and wines, I got a personal favorite Fat Tire and my companion got a Ecco Pinot Grigio.  We started with the buffalo shrimp appetizer which was a great start to the meal.  We followed that with her getting the french dip and I got the BBQ pulled pork.  Not only did we enjoy both our sandwiches but both meals came with a salad.  Apps, salad, sandwiches and two drinks each for under $40, wow.

Our server was dead on all night.  The app, salads, entrees and drinks were like planes at O'hare coming and going with perfect timing.  He was excellent and only made the experience that much more impressive.  He got well over 20%.

Next time I will try a pricier entree and further explore their draft beers.  Great addition to the neighborhood.

We went here during the soft opening, they have since had their grand opening. I must say starting with the over all appearance they gutted most of the restaurant and have made it a very beautiful interior.

I ordered the chopped steak dinner, it was great. My better half ordered the broasted chicken and it was far superior to the broasted chicken that used to be served when this location was Tommy O's!!! We will be going back for sure!!!! I wish Oak Street Restaurant and Bar the best in their new home!!!!
