Another disappointment among my few dining experiences since recently moving to Annapolis.  I ordered the Bistecca Fiorentina which is a "sixteen ounce New York Strip Seasoned with Herb rub, basted in Rosemary Garlic fat back paste & seared
to perfection." While it was seasoned as described, seared to perfection it was not.  I ordered mine medium rare and it came out bloody rare.  I am usually not one to send back an under-cooked steak, as I can tolerate it a bit on the rare-side, but this was ridiculous.  It came with "Spicy Aioli Fried Potatoes" which appeared to be potatoes covered in warm processed cheese spread.  Another one in Annapolis which I will not be returning to.

My husband and I visited O'Brien's for our first time ever while on an anniversary trip to Annapolis.  I had the crab cake sandwich which was very good quality and delicious.  My husband had the pork belly sliders which he thoroughly enjoyed.  We also shared a bowl of the cream of crab soup which was very tasty despite being lukewarm.  Be sure to "check-in" using the Foursquare app on your phone, and you will receive the FREE check-in special of an oyster shooter :)

The service was decent, the food was just okay (I had the crab pretzel....or just call it a pretzel with melted cheese.)  It's overpriced for the value of the meal.........keep walking and find somewhere else better!

We stopped here for lunch and had some nice mussels.  Everyone else had the sliders as an appetizer and I went with the oysters.   Delicious.  The only thing I can say is that the waiter had to be reminded a few times for things like a hair chair, more water, etc...  No biggie though.

I was moderately disappointed. Dean loved his tuna appetizer, and it was a lovely presentation.

The Caesar salad presentation was lifeless. The steak au poivre was a superb cut of meat. But, the preparation was grossly excessive in the pepper and lacking in the preparation of the cream based sauce.

I make this at home.  I have never seen a better cut of meat. The sauce? Not classic French.

While this place may claim to be an Irish pub...it doesn't look nor feel like one. None of the food (that I recalled seeing) was "Irish". That being said all of the food sounded good, albiet a little steep. I know it's in a tourist area but I've eaten in downtown Annapolis before and I know there are cheaper places to eat.

I got the crab pretzel for $11 if I recall. For the size it should really cost $7. It wasn't horrible, but it could have used more Old Bay. My companions for the evening all enjoyed their food (a burger, and fetucini alfredo) but again thought they could have been priced a little lower.

The beer selection isn't bad. They have Heavy Seas as well as Natty Boh. But the prices on beer is also steep. I think the Boh was overpriced by at least a $1. Maybe more. I don't remember.

My waitress was great. She had a waitress in training who was also fantastic! It was her first night, but she was great. Really, if she hadn't said she was new we would have never known. In fact most of the people here were friendly.

Surprise, surprise!  Best carb cake in town [from a local]!  Steak is great too; try the espresso sirloin.

Visited this now re-branded bar-restaurant (O'Brien's Steak House) with a group of colleagues after a meeting for lunch today.  It had been a while since I'd been there, having not been in 'Nap Towne for a while.  The greatly reworked menu grabbed my attention immediately, with even the sandwich menu featuring loads of pretty original or unusual stuff.  Our group, which arrived just at opening time, was seated quickly, with immediate, friendly service.

I opted for the chipotle chicken sandwich, accompanied by the curly fries.  The nice, healthy, un-breaded grilled chicken breast was jazzed up by pepper jack cheese and "candied cayenne bacon," thereby helping to offset the healthiness a bit, but certainly enhancing the plain Jane chicken.  As for the chipotle ranch dressing, it was either flat-out missing, or so sparing as to be undetectable.  Not having menu in hand when it arrived, I wasn't sure if it came with a dressing, so I asked for a side of mayo and added a bit.  In any case, the sandwich was quite good, but I'd have preferred it a  fair bit spicier.  Perhaps if the dressing made it to the sandwich?!  The fries were OK, though no better than the type you can get at an Arby's or Checker's.

The others in our party of nice seemed to appreciate the various dishes they had, included a quite large seafood caesar salad and some crabcake sammies.  I heard no complaints, and it looked like everyone ate their fill.

Our table of nine had but one waitress, but she was quite good, and particularly quick with water and refreshment refills.  Being working stiffs, none of us opted for any beer or booze, though I did note on the way out they seemed to have a fair selection including good craft options.  That's a big plus in my book!  I'm tempted to give them only 3-stars because many of their more creative options seemed a bit overpriced, but the good food and terrific service allowed me to bump a 3.5 or so upwards to a 4-star rating.  Next time 'round I'll bite the bullet, pay the extra bucks, and try one of the more innovative sandwich options.

I went here last night. Both the bar and the restaurant were fairly empty. My date recommended the McClusky but we couldn't find it anywhere on the dinner menu. Not being familiar with the restaurant (and also not wanting to pull out my phone and jump on yelp in the middle of a date!), I was a bit surprised at how expensive some of the dishes were and didn't want to order something expensive that ended up being horrible. I opted to go with the tagliaroni. It was decent-- not too flavorful and dripping in butter. I expected much more of a lemon flavor. Our waitress suggested that I get crabmeat, shrimp, or... something else on it and I got the shrimp. My pasta came with four standard size shrimp on it. My date wasn't super hungry so he got the eggs benedict. His dish was also not something to write home about.

Overall it was an okay dinner (the conversation with my date made up for it!) but I'm not dying to come back here.

I came here last weekend with my boyfriend and his parents while checking out the Annapolis area for the first time.

Both his parents got the Open Faced Crab McClusky. It is a house favorite according to our server. It has lump crab meat on Italian bread with Swiss cheese on top baked together. So basically it is a glorified flat bread. Both of them to thoroughly enjoy it. It is both on the lunch and dinner menu.

My bf and I got a special the chef was running that night which was a chicken sandwich with crab dip on top of it in the sandwich. I cannot remember the proper name for it, but we both liked it too. I got it with a french onion soup with it. In addition they gave us fries with the sandwiches.

Service was good, and the ambiance is nice. They have it split between the bar area and then the restaurant area. So, if you do not want to be in the chaos of the game goers, you don't have to be which is a nice added touch.

Next time I am in town, I will have to come here to get a beer and try the bar grub. Pricing is reasonable for what you get.

This was some of the cleanest raw oysters that I have had since I have been in Maryland!  We went in early afternoon (between 2 and 3) on a Friday and the place was deserted.  Service was delightful and the sandwiches were very good also!

Stopped in for lunch on a Friday with my boyfriend......we had taken a half day off from work, so we were in no rush and had no problem with drinking....good thing!

Our server was quick and friendly, and made some great recommendations.  I had the reuben which was delicious!  I was only able to eat half of it, but the half I ate was great.  I can't remember what the BF had, but he said he really liked it too.    He decided he wanted an Irish coffee with Jameson after we ate, and honestly, it was probably the best I've ever tasted.

Obrien's is my home away from home. I've been going to trivia there on Sundays for almost a year and it's always a good time. The bartenders Billy and Gordo are the kind who remember your name and what you drink, but don't mind calling you an ass when you're too drunk. And Aces the Trivia Man is excellent at his job and works really hard every week to make trivia fun and interesting. Basically if you're new in town and need a regular spot this is the place to call your own. Its like cheers but with less laugh track and better jokes. Seriously give this bar a chance and you won't regret it.

Took our out-of-town guests here for a bite to eat before getting drinks. We all had a an above average dining experience. The waitress was friendly and prompt. There are several options of where to be seated. An outdoor area, downstairs near the bar, or a more quiet, dining room upstairs. We ended up going to the dance club area after dinner and staying until 1:00 a.m. All in all a decent time.

Went to this bar mainly because of a discount offer. I had the Capitol melt and hubby had the scallops. My sandwich was delish and hubby said his old was okay. Overpriced drinks, bar food, all in the heart of Annapolis. What else can you ask for?

The worst thing about this place is the bathroom. By the way, the server told my husband the OJ was fresh squeezed. Not sure why he lied.

I went to Annapolis on a day trip with my daughters, one of who wanted snow crabs.  We decided to go here for lunch.  The service was terrible...It was the day after the 4th of July so I think they may have been short staffed.  We were sat in the room next to the bar area and we were given the waitress who was working the tables at the bar.  We barely saw her.  The waitress that was working the other tables in our area was fantastic with her tables.  Not sure why we did not get her.  I even had to get up with our water glasses to get refill at the bar.

As for the food was not all that and over priced.

This place is a no go. While asking the waiter to clear a table for our party of six after a group just left some guy just sat down at the messy table and declared that he had a party of five. The waiter didn't bother to tell him that we had already asked for the table and that he had just told us that he would clear it for us. We then had to split our party up across multiple tables.

I sat down with my boyfriend at a messy table where some folks had just left and we were ignored for a good 30 minutes. My boyfriend eventually got up to go inside to get some menus. We were still sitting at someone else's messy table. No one came by to greet us, offer menus or water and there was no intention to clean up the dirty table. We were simply ignored.

After my boyfriend got some menus the waiter came by and took the previous people's check and said they would have the table cleaned. 10 minutes later someone came by to start spraying the table. I had to get up and leave the table because they were spraying the cleaning liquid in my face. Another 15-20 minutes go by and still no sign of the waiter. Eventually they came by to take our order and kept whispering when they spoke. I couldn't understand anything they said and had to have my boyfriend order for me because the waiter just whispered to him. I asked for coffee and just got coffee and milk no sugar or any offer of it. At this point I had given up any hope of eating here.

A whole table that would fit our party opened up next to us but nobody did anything so we just had to continue sitting all split up. It was really disappointing because we had come from out of town to visit family and ended up eating at this messy establishment. The food was pretty good but the service stunk the place up.

Met a few girlfriends here for drinks and snacks.  The crab pretzel was good but a staggering $9.95.  Huh?  The crab dip was delicious, actually.  The pommes frites came out soggy.  Bartender is a complete jackass.  And our server asked for two of our phone numbers on the back of our tab.  There are far better places to hang out and eat and drink in Annapolis...

Unbelievable experience.  First of all, it took us a few minutes to realize that in between my seat and my toddler's highchair, there were SHARDS OF GLASS ON THE TABLE!!!!  The manager and waitstaff had "No idea how that got there...". Really???
Our toddler's food did not come out with our food- in fact, it came out after we had finished.  (luckily we had some soup and fries to share with the little guy).

The food was less than mediocre, considering they charge 5 star prices.  The wine that they are "proud" to have in stock, vinegar.

Extremely disappointed .  The kids did like the Arby's curly fries that they serve,

Oh, and do not be fooled by the "O'Brien's" name.  Not much about it is Irish.

Girls were looking for an oyster bar but what place in down town Annapolis isn't an oyster bar?  We decided on this place because we were starving and someone had recommended to me here on Yelp.

We got a round of beer and I have to give them a plus for giving me extra oranges with my Blue Moon without having to ask for more.  Got 12 raw oysters that tasted pretty grainy, calamari that weren't crunchy but soggy and had a type of remolaude on it where's the marinara?  We also got crab dip that was alright and steamed shrimp but was too too salty with old bay WTF?

Wouldn't come back since there's more selections out there but the server was pretty good at keeping the beer coming around.

Our party of six had dinner there tonight. Three appetizers, five entrees, one sandwich and two glasses of wine were $210. The food was OK- not great and most definitely not worth the money we paid. Our surly disinterested waitress was horrid. Overall verdict - NFW will we ever return.

    Don't waste your time.

On a trip to Annapolis last weekend, I can't say that I was expecting much, but their happy hour got me in the door.

And then, after the cheap drinks, I decided just to stick around for dinner.

Hey, I can get down with some cheap, not 5 -star food (especially after chugging $3 craft brews) but O'Brien's is just kinda gross.

I ordered the "Maryland state fish," rockfish stuffed with crab. Should be good right? fresh, right? No. Neither of these.

Seriously, for $23.95 I expected something.. anything.. some flavor. What I got was a piece of fish drenched in butter and fried, absent any other seasoning. Who doesn't like the flavorful butterfish? Yeah, nobody like that shit, especially not for such a high price.

It was also supposed to come served with some sort of a fancy-sounding veggie garnish. What i got were a few pieces of unseasoned lettuce. No thanks. The crab that was stuffed with the fish was pretty good and fresh, but also lacked a lot of flavor. At least the chunks were large though.

I had some fried green tomatoes to start, that were honestly the worst I've ever had. And again, this is removing any sort of high-bar expectations. They were freezer burned and just gross.

The place is also just disgusting. If you are walking along the bar, beware, there are large holes in the floor and if you aren't watching your step, you could be face plating into the guy next to you. Similarly, the bathrooms have holes in the walls and floors, are dirty, and the decor is terribly thrown together.

The back of house is a bit more of a formal look, and they are clearly trying to bring in folks who are ok paying high prices for 1-star food, but get real, if you have holes in your floors, people aren't going to be coming back.

Coming here was a mistake. A big, and expensive mistake. I left half of my fish untouched, and this is coming from a guy who NEVER leaves food to be wasted. SMH.

An excellent lunch at O'Brien's initiated my newly discovered passion for Annapolis.

Today was my first visit to this community, home to the US Naval Academy, since moving to Washington, D.C.

O'Brien's has many things going for it.  Most notably: location, location, location.  I parked at the city dock, and this tavern was one of the first eateries I encountered.

I sat at the bar, but could see that the facility was much larger on the inside than it appeared from the outside.  Also large was the menu.  I was really impressed by the selection which included brunch, the raw bar menu, and the typical lunch and dinner choices.

I've always made it clear that I am sucker for good service, and the bartender was attentive and friendly.  It was quiet and I struck up a conversation with one of the members of the wait staff.  Although I had never been to O'Brien's previously, I felt welcomed as if I was a regular.

There are several flat screen, high definition, televisions throughout the bar area, and all seats seem to have good viewing opportunities.

As for the food: I decided on the goat cheese appetizer and a bowl of crab soup.

The crap soup was delivered first and was delicious.  I mean, it was really really good.  Just a tad salty, in a good way, and far from skimpy on the crab.  I told the bartender that the crab soup was one of the best things I had eaten in a while, and i meant it.

The goat cheese, served with a light crust, a salsa, and airy flat bread was also excellent.  The soup, however, had already stolen the show.

This was a great lunch, and a superb way to start my day of exploring historic Annapolis.

The neighborhood in which I located O'Brien's has plenty of other little cafes, taverns, and hole-in-the-walls that I look forward to discovering.  But, I now know that I have a reliable choice, O'Brien's; one that I highly recommend!

What's more annoying, the fake Irish pub gimmick O'brien's offer's in it's decor and music ... or the obsessively loud hip hop that starts to play after 8pm on Fridays?

I'll go with both. O'Briens is a half way decent pub located right on Main street, and is only seconds from the harbor and parking in the area.

Offering bar style food and a oyster bar with a decent selection of Oyster's on the half shell.

I meet up with some friends this past Friday to watch the Capitals loose,  and had tried some of their food at the recommendation of some of my friends.

A quick review of the menu, resulted in me being indecisive and uninterested in their selection. Mostly everything was finger food and sandwich's with really no Irish dishes.

I went with sliders and curly fries. The burgers were burnt, and pretty bland. I don't think I even ate more than two curly fries, they we're okay.

The bar was pretty large and had seating and televisions around the entire room. There was another more formal dining room, which might be better to try some of their better dishes, but If they can't cook sliders... I don't even want to try anything else.

Beer was pretty cheap, and limited to a handful of options. Bud / Coors, Guinness, Sam Adams, Stella Artois, and Boh' on draught and a few similar bottled options.  The beer's weren't too pricey so that's a plus in Annapolis. Drink options also include wine and a full bar.

Meh! I've experienced better, sums it up perfectly, and I won't be returning any time soon, even when the green beer starts flowing.

I've been here for drinks many times before, because I'm friends with one of the ID checkers (full disclosure). It's a great bar/club: it's an excellent mix of a laid back environment (people are friendly, good mix of different kinds of people, plenty of room just to talk) and a club (nice dance floor, good DJ, strong drinks).  And I've always been impressed by the staff - they're professionals who take their jobs seriously, but if you talk to them, they're friendly and hilarious.  I liked O'Brien's.

Then I had dinner.  This restaurant far outclasses its competition.

The waitress was friendly and efficient - we enjoyed talking to her, and she gave us great service.

We had the bread (warm) with cinnamon butter (awesome).  We split a crab dip; as hard as it was to tear myself away from the cinnamon butter, the dip was great too.

We had the two special entrees:
-Steak (cooked exactly to medium-rare, as specified) with crabmeat (an interesting combination - delicious) and homemade hollandaise sauce
-Shrimp stuffed with crabmeat (as excellent as it sounds), asparagus on the side with the same homemade hollandaise sauce.

Definitely, the best meal I've had in Annapolis.

The General Manager came by and suggested a few wines to pair with each entree.  The red he recommended to go with the steak was really nice, exactly what we wanted - flavorful, but not too heavy, not too many tannins.  But the white: WOW.  I am going to buy a bottle to keep at home.  I might buy a case to keep at home.  I ordered a glass to go with the shrimp; we ordered several more, because my dining companion wanted his own, and I needed more.  Really impressive - and I don't even like white wine that much.

A note about the General Manager.  His wine recommendations were great, in part because he selected them personally, and he really knows his stuff.  We talked with him for a few minutes, before he left to help another table resolve a special request.  Several times I've been there drinking, I've seen him do anything he can to accomodate patrons.  He's friendly, funny, and he sincerely just wants people who come to his restaurant to have a great experience.  I wish he ran a restaurant in Boston; I'd go all the time.

If this wasn't enough, we had an outrageously-good piece of cake.

Let's just say: I'll be back.

Pricey drinks!!!  Unless you go with the swill (absolute swill).  The clientele can be a bit sketchy as well. Had issues with drinks being stolen and fights breaking out when I went there.

So those are the cons.  Here are the pros - they're staff.  Hands down some great hard working people.  Always quick to get you a drink, start up a conversation.  I love their weekday trivia too.  It's a great way to kill your lunch hour :-)

Worth a visit if you are looking for a club scene in Annapolis.  Other than that I'd stick to the daytime fare at this location.

The food, drinks, and ambiance are par for the course during the day.

The bar scene at OB's is terrible. If you ever wondered what purgatory looks like, then stop in after 10pm. I personally guarantee that you will get to see at least one drug dealer, one bar fight, and one innocent patron get assaulted by the overly rough bouncers.

My husband and I used to go here back in 2002ish and it was great. Not so much nowadays. We went last night 4/23/11 for dinner and drinks around 9pm. The cosmopolitan tasted like cough syrup. The mojito was average. After the drink experience, I just had the waitress instruct the bar tender to mix pineapple juice and coconut rum which was superb. Dinner was two appetizers which we split: Annapolis bruschetta (think yummy thick bread dropping with crab sauce and crab dip) and Navajo nachos. The bruschetta was good, as were the nachos. They use marinara sauce in their Navajo nachos though.... Odd. On a good note, we did have a great waitress though (brunette with long hair, mom to 2 kids.) loved her!

Anyways at 10pm the DJ started and a few people started dancing. So lame. Two bachelorette parties were there in addition to a bunch of skanky looking girls and fist pumping, too much hair gel kind of guys in wannabe Abercrombie shirts. What a waste o' time. So glad we got in before they charged us a cover.

Dinner only.  Started with a dozen oysters, and they were so-so.  They were not very salty, one had some "sludge" on it, and a few had some shell pieces.

The wife ordered two apps for her dinner, the seared ahi and the bay scallops.  I tried some and both were the best thing we had all night.  I got the Fisherman's Platter (fried) which had two "jumbo" shrimp, two crab balls, two pieces of fish, bay scallops, fries, and slaw.  For $25, NOT worth it.  Shrimp were medium at best, crab balls were smaller than ping pong balls, two pieces of fish together were about the size of a piece of white bread, the bay scallops were good, just not enough of them...a decent handful.  Fries and slaw, standard.

Service was good, likely because it was only us and one other group in the entire dining room.

Wife had a glass of reisling, which she said was good.  I had a Guiness, no explanation needed.

Recap:  oysters so-so.  Food overpriced for small amount.  Will not be going back.

We went for an early dinner. Most of the other reviews here seem to be for the nightlife.

Strolling down Main Street, starving, we looked for a place without a wait and with affordable child-friendly options to pop in. (I didn't use yelp - gasp!) O'briens looked decent enough. We got a table in the open area in the back and I thought it was nicer than your average pub-style location.

    In a nutshell,

The cream of crab soup was delicious w/ large chunks of crabmeat. (Yet ridiculously expensive. Almost $8 for a cup of soup?!)
The oyster po'boy (not on the print menu, but up on the chalkboard) was also delicious w/ juicy fresh-tasting oysters and soft bread with a side of curly fries.
The kids' menu mac-n-cheese was of the Kraft boxed variety with what had to have been extra velveeta on top. (Blech.)
The scallop sliders were teeny tiny. (Not surprisingly.)

So some good stuff, some blech stuff. Our service was fine. And I accidentally broke a wine glass when I was trying to move it out of the way so it wouldn't get knocked over. Of course, that knocked it over. I'm sorry.

Went with a group of three friends. Ordered a dozen oysters and the fried calamari for starters both were very good. Dinners were two orders of the Pan Seared Scallops, one order of the "Colossal Crab Cake" and a pizza and Caesar salad. Entrees were average at best, and the "sea scallops" were much closer in size to bay scallops (especially after being told by a waitress - not our server - that they were "really big").

The food would have been forgivable but our waiter was a complete clod. Slow to show up, slow to respond to requests, forgot a dish, became argumentative when we asked a simple question, and never returned to settle the bill (we had to go up and have another waiter run our credit card).

The bottom line is, there are more deserving places to spend your money for dinner.

We went here tonight for dinner and were pretty pleased.  We had raw oysters an appetizer and a couple of dinners.  The food was all great - not one complaint here - and the oysters were yummy!  Our server was a bit absent, but we're on vacation so waiting wasn't a huge deal.  I would surely return for more apps and oysters, but I do have to agree with others that the prices were a bit high for the amount of food we were given.

If you stop in I do recommend the scallop sliders and the raw oysters!

I can't think of a reason I would actually return to this bar - for food, drink or otherwise. The food is way overpriced; though we only had a couple oyster shooters. The service is appalling. The beer selection is nothing special.

I've heard this is a Naval Academy/Lacrosse bar. If you're over the age of 25, this place will likely not appeal to you. If you're only looking for a beer on a quiet day, it may be an ok option. But then again, there are about 10 other bars you could choose from that have better food, drink and personality.

I've now been here twice with some friends who have recently moved to Annapolis, and are just getting to know the in's and out's.....

Next time I hope they do not take me here! It's OK with a group of friends. It's a little out of date, kind of a dive. It's just a very typical dive bar, nothing fancy.

The bartenders were friendly, but some of the other patrons were not. I can not speak for the food, and I do not like to judge a book by its cover, but from the looks of things I don't think this would be a place I would want to eat.

Anyways this place is OK to grab a few beers with friends, but next time I make it out to Annapolis I would love to try some place else!

:::This review is for the club only and this was during a time where most college students would be on winter break:::

I went here on a saturday night with some friends and found this place to be pretty good. Seeing as I am getting used to going to more ritzy club places in DC I set my expectations pretty low for a bar in Annapolis. With that said, I did manage to have a really good time here though.

There was a 5 dollar cover charge to get in which really isnt too bad.  People weren't dressed up that much but still looked decent and no one looked trashy. Everyone in there was pretty cool and friendly and I liked how there was a seperate area for dancing then more of a bar area if you wanted to talk or watch what was on the flat screens.

On this night the music was actually really good and lots of people were having fun. I ended up participating in a dance off with these two guys hahah. I'm always impressed when I find people who can dance better than me, that way you can learn new moves (extra stars for that hahah). Oh and the blacklights are really cool, especially if you wear a white shirt.

I have had better, definitely explains it.   This place looks really neat to hang out at the bar.  There is always a crowd there.  But don't go eat here for a sit down dinner.  Our waiter tried to tell us there was nothing wrong with the flat soda he served my husband.  Now bless this guy's heart, but he just was like, uhhhh I don't know.  I wanted to show him how soda get's it's bubbles!

The food... meh. . crab dip appetizer was lacking.. it tasted ok, but they didn't give us enough crackers and it was a very small serving.

The dinner... boy got sliders.. he enjoyed them, three little hamburgers.  I had the cream of crab... it was ok.. very heavy... made my guts do somersaults, but it was slightly chunky with meat pieces.  I ate them all and then left the rest.

I also had a "category 3: dark and stormy" drink - rum and ginger beer.  It would have better if it had bubbles... again, their CO was out and no one seemed to care.

Anyways, if you come here, sit at the bar and enjoy the atmosphere.  If you want to eat in Annapolis there are many many other choices.

OBrien's is best appreciated during happy hour.  They have a terrific happy hour menu complete with cheap chicken wings, steamed mussels, sliders and pretty good chili.  Their domestic pints run at two bucks (last time I was there) and imported at three.  Grab a seat around the bar, enjoy the scenery inside and out and soak up everything a bar should be: historic, dark, rustic, with aged wood furnishings everywhere you look.

Now, if you are thinking about hitting OBrien's for dinner or late night go at your own risk.  The place usually gets packed on the weekends and service can become nonexistent.  I haven't been there to check out the night life, but I've been told it isn't anything to rave about.

But OBrien's serves my purposes just fine.  I only go there for Happy Hour when I'm back east.

Somehow this restaurant showed up at the top of a TripAdvisor listing.  We went to enjoy a few beers streetside and enjoy the procession of families on vacation.

After they finally came to take our order service after that was speedy and very friendly (thanks Savannah).  Normal priced beers and snacking food.  Crab cake nothing to write home about.  This doesn't strike me as a nice place to go out and have a meal.

One of the banes of my Annapolis-barhopping existance.
This is one of the only places that has dancing in Annapolis, so all the girls looking to dance/pick up guys go here (now, next time I go, it's going to be packed with guys looking to get laid). If you have to go here, I'd recommend sticking to the front of house.
After a certain point (I believe it's 10), they also charge a cover. Now, I will not pay a cover for a bar I don't like anyway. Nor will I wait in the line that often forms as idiot girls wait to go fall all over themselves in the cheesy dance floor (restraunt with the tables moved to the sides).
The food here isn't great, the service usually sucks, and the atmosphere is more annoying than anything else. A place to avoid if you can.
Plus, the bouncers are like overgrown thugs with "power". These guys are Capitol Police officers in the making.
