Was in town on vacation with the family. Â The 4 star rating is for the food. Â The service itself was only 2 stars, but I'm not using that in this review because 1) I saw the manager off to the side a few times trying to straighten out his staff (so the manager clearly knows and is addressing the situation), and 2) I'm a traveler and not a local resident. Â If this was a local place of mine, I would have downgraded the overall rating -BUT then I would come back later and would upgrade their rating if the situation improved. Â Because I am not local, I will not be able to see if the Manager got the crew back on track - hence, the 4 stars is on the food
I had a really simple pasta dish, but it was awesome. Â It is called the NY Pizza Pasta, and it is the ingredients of a pizza that had been thrown into pasta - very simple, but very tasty. Â Sausage, Pepperoni, red and green peppers, sauce and mozzarella on penne pasta - baked. Â My wife had the Southern Chicken salad, and she really liked it too,
As a bonus, Kids eat free for dinner time between Monday to Thursday. Â I saw business travellers there sitting and eating at the bar away from the families and also families and kids (for the free food) - so, do not stay away if you are a business traveller as the place is big enough for all. Â Most of the families seemed to be clearing out between 730-8pm.
Pretty Average- I head a lot about it from family that was living there but I think they had been in Illinois too long. Â I didn't find the steak out of this world as promised but it wasn't bad. Â Kind of a mix between Chili's and outback- not great, not horrible just generically average.
Review Source:After a long day of interstate driving, we checked into a motel in Springfield and decided to eat at some nearby restaurant. The area had every franchise place we'd ever heard of, but after checking a few menus online, we chose O'Charley's, which was new to us. Early in the evening the place was already busy, but we were seated immediately and given attentive service.
After drinks, we ordered a small steak and fish & chips, and the food came quickly and was pretty good. Â The steak was cooked perfectly, the fish came in three pieces--one nice sized, the other two thin beneath the coating. The staff was solicitous, drinks were inexpensive, and the entire meal was satisfactory. Not a destination restaurant, but OK for a chain.
OK it's a chain but in Springfield this is one if the better one when it comes to quality of food and service. Yep, I approve. Salads, steaks, seafood, all good and the service is polite, efficient and with a smile. Oh yep $3.99 for a margarita and $1.99 for a Bud might impair the judgment slightly....
Review Source:Typically, I don't like the chain restaurants because of the lousy food and service they mash together. I was hungry one night and decided to go here for dinner and was really surprised.
We were greeted immediately and taken to a booth table. The place was pretty cozy and busy so it was reassuring. Our server got us our drinks and dinner rolls immediately. Their rolls were fresh and sweet. I ended up eating 5 of them!
I ordered the Cajun shrimp pasta and my boyfriend got a steak of some sort. The pasta was buttery and had great spices. The steak was too rare so we had to send it back. The manager came to our table to apologize and made sure the steak came back right.
I noticed throughout the night that the manager went to every table personally and made sure the customers were more than satisfied with their dinner. I haven't seen any other restaurants do something like that.
The food was good overall, lots of choices from their menu. The services was definitely wonderful. We will be dining there again for sure!
This place is a great place to dine. The food is always fresh, hot, and tastes amazing. The only down side is its not a fast service place to eat. It always takes a while to get your food but they do give you the most amazing rolls to eat while you wait, and trust the food is worth the wait.
Review Source:This place is great! I went there recently and it was the first time I had visited since I was a Sophomore in college or something. I was certainly glad I came. It was just as good as I remember it. They have a bread basket that has the most obnoxiously delicious, buttered rolls. MMm MMM. Their loaded baked potato soup is excellent. Also, the beer is on $1.99. HA! Talk about a steal.
The service is also great every time I've been here. I remember my mom and brother use to frequent this place a they loved it as well. If you're in the area, then it's definitely worth a try.
