Wow, the menu reads decently but the food is  poor. I used to frequent O'Connors years ago to imbibe but not for the food and now I remember why.  I had a few hours free from the family and thought to swing by and have a bite and a beer, or two. Ordered the Halibut after consulting with the bartender whom declared it was fresh and prepared well. Served with a caper/vinaigrette, what? It was lathered in salad dressing and over cooked. I was so hungry that I ate half but just couldn't finish even after scraping off the "dressing".
My personal rule was broken, if at first sight nothing on the menu looks enticing move on. Go someplace else and don't expect the bartender to suggest food.
This place is great.  I'm not sure when it was founded but they've been in  business for at least 30 years.
Their food is really good, the ambiance is nice, and they make great drinks. Â Kate's Special is one my favorite breakfasts of all time - Potatoes, peppers, cheese, eggs, and their creole sauce all served with a couple of tortillas on the side.
Whenever I go to O'Connors, I feel like it should be better than it is. They have a good location, it's well established, and they fill a niche in Multnomah Village. With a little effort, it could be a great addition to the area. Instead, it's just an okay place. There isn't really anything bad about it, but there isn't anything that stands out, either.
The best experiences I've had here are on the back deck for breakfast on summer mornings. It's a nice setting and the food is acceptable. There are much better breakfasts in the area (like Down To Earth Cafe, Grand Central Baking, and Three Square Grill), but if you want to sit outside and have a Bloody Mary, this is as good as you'll find in the area, unfortunately.
The dinner menu appears interesting, with multiple Cajun style dishes. But the food is just missing something. Cajun food should be spicy and loaded with flavor. Theirs is more on the bland side. I had the seafood gumbo and it tasted like roux with fish. Where is the onion/bell pepper/celery Cajun trinity? Put some bouillon in there, too. I didn't think gumbo could be boring, but they figured out a way to do it.
When I think about what the place could be, something like Miss Delta on N Mississippi comes to mind. But, they need a standout happy hour, more creative cocktails, updated tap list that reflects the great beers of the region, some interior decorating, and all of the menu items tweaked. Until then, I will continue to stop in once a year to be reminded of the lost potential.
I love O'Connors and I am there a couple of times per month. I don't understand the negative comments about the food. I think they have some of the best food on the west side, and I've never had a bad meal there.
Mark the bartender is a cool dude and everybody there takes good care of us. The patio is great in the summer.
I will agree that the decor could use updating, but I'm just not uptight enough to let that ruin the rest of the happiness I get from the place.
I love O'Connors. Â The ambiance, the wait staff are great, though the food is good but not amazing. Â That said, it feels like a comfortable pair of jeans, a nice home-cooked meal on a cold day - just right. Â We mainly go there for brunch, and have been coming here for almost 9 years. Â The dinner is a bit pricier and fancier, and we just prefer the brunch and lunch fare. Â I highly recommend their cajun burger, and their take on huevos rancheros for brunch. Â Best of all is the cajun Bloody Mary -- it's wonderfully spicy. Â In the spring and summer, the outdoor deck is a terrific way to start the weekend.
Review Source:Once a staple of old downtown Portland, O'Connors is one of the anchors of the Multnomah Village food/drink scene. Despite the name, this is not an Irish bar. Instead, it's a sincere, simple neighborhood joint with solid local history.
The food menu at O'Connor's is mostly American classics with several Cajun and Mexican inspired dishes. While unspectacular, it's usually  very satisfying. It's also a solid breakfast option in the neighborhood without the weekend lines and wait you'll find at Marco's and Fat City.
The bar area is cozy and warm, and for some reason sort of reminds me of something you might find in Paris. The bar itself seats about 6-8 people and is almost entirely filled with locals, leisurely sipping wine or beer (cocktails also available). There's also 2-3 tables and a TV or two with muted sports.
The restaurant side is more expansive with several booths and tables, as well as a pretty good-sized patio area.
One of the charms of O'Connor's is the decidedly unhurried, unassuming vibe the entire place has, especially the bar. It's the primary reason I enjoy making the occasional stop there...just a great place to decompress over a drink or two.
In the evenings, however, O'Connor's transforms into one of Multnomah Village's only live music venues with mostly silver-haired rockers playing to their target demo. I've never been, but it seems to draw a pretty good crowd.
While the food was perfectly acceptable I am giving this a single star for the women's bathroom. Â First, the only restroom I was made aware of was the one down a steep stairway with narrow steps. Â Difficult for the unsteady. Â Impossible for disabled.
The bathroom worked. Â The problem was there was NO soap. Â Not, just running out. Â Not, just dribbling. Â Not, just spitting out a few last gasp bubbles. Â NOTHING. Â It was clear this soap dispenser had been OUT for a LONG time.
Surely, at least ONE female employee must have noticed this. Â Maybe even a patron. Â Whether any body did or reported it is unknown to me. Â I did report it to the first employee I encountered. Â This was the cook who was in the kitchen directly across the narrow landing from this very bathroom. Â When I told him he reacted as if it was jot a big deal. Â I did lean shortly after this that he DID replace the soap immediately.
However, this only made me more worried about the safety of our food. Â Fortunately, one of my two Partners-In-Dine had hand sanitizer with her.
When one of my partners asked a female server upstairs if the downstairs bathroom was the only bathroom she pointed out that there was another upstairs. Â Though, there was no sign as with the one pointing down.
It was clear to me that if ANY employee from dish washer, cook, server or hostess any one of them could have gone into that bathroom and washed their hands WITHOUT soap and then touch a dish, a glass, the MENU...
Because, a bathroom is so critical to any food service business I give O'Connor's a single star.
As for the food the home style potatoes were cooked tender, the eggs I ordered soft and moist arrived hard and dry. Â Our server immediately went to the kitchen and brought out a new plate of eggs exactly as I desired. Â The rye toast was really more white bread with caraway seeds than a rye bread. Â I do not prefer dark rye. Â But, this was a little light.
I eat here about once a quarter with my fellow co-workers. Â It definitely needs a good make over. Â The interior is very unattractive and run down. Â The out side patio is just great with nice flowers and patio furniture. Â The Service is fine. Â I'm a burger person. So, I always order the BBQ Bacon Burger. Â It's pretty good. Â The fries can be very good, but yesterday they were over fried and dry. Â I think they get pretty busy in the evening in the bar area. Â I know they have live music a few times a week. It's close, convenient, but could be a bit more attractive.
Review Source:I have come here over the years and find it a nice option in SW Portland. Â The most I would recommend would be to have a Spanish Coffee or craft beer at the bar while catching up with an old friend OR if you are newly dating someone. Â Their food is good, but can be disappointing for the price and overall impression and delivery. Â I have had breakfast, happy hour, and dinner. Â The best option: NACHOS or Hush Puppies off the appetizer menu . Â Came here for Mother's Day rather early and they were busy. Â It took a long time to get waited on, but it wasn't PACKED. Â Waitress was apologetic and we appreciated it. Â Meal for Mother's Day was acceptable, but not anything to write home about. Â Overall, I recommend it--then you decide. Â There are a lot of better option on this stretch, too. Â But if you want to experience a piece of history and like a classic feeling bar/lounge then belly up and get to know the veteran bartender, Mark. Â Also, they feature live music a nice bonus in this neighborhood.
Review Source:was passing thru multnomah village with my girlfriend, and stopped for food. heard jazz music coming out of this place, and decided to stop in. we were seated promptly. food was delicious, and reasonably priced.
i would highly recommend this place to others. only complaint is that the chairs suck :/
Wanted a new place to go to, so I found this one on Yelp with the "Dive Bar" search and thought why not.
DH and I went in the middle of the afternoon at a lunch hour. It seemed at first quite a trek to get to, but turned out not being too bad on the way back. I don't like the way the GPS tells you get here from Beaverton.
Nice down home type of place. They have a full bar and a restaurant area, if you have been reading my reviews you know which side I sat on. ;) I ordered the hummus, which was delicious but not enough bread. I would have rather the pita bread not the full on thick bread. It had olives, tomatoes and cucumbers but like I said would preferred the pita bread.
The bartender /server was pretty friendly and kind and I could see there were plenty of regulars. I don't know how much we'll get down here but I can tell this one could be fun to go back to.
Warning: When you go to the bathroom its a sharp drop down the stairs to the right, it looks like it might be a place to go right into.. if you're not expecting it, be careful! I almost tripped. I think this is the drunk test! I hear there is a camera to record if you make it down the stairs or not, if you don't you don't you get cut off. ( I kid I kid) but seriously be careful. It's an one only per gender bathroom which I really don't like but if I just have to pee that's OK but the other.. hate having people wait. Oh TMI? I know.. I'm kind of like that.
Overall, great place and good food. DH had the red beans and rice which were surprisingly very good!. A must stop in. Just a note this is on a tight area, the street is on a one way downtown and once you're on the street you have to keep on going. We were lucky to find a spot out front as someone was pulling out but can't say what the weekend would be like. I like this place!
A close friend and regular patron of O'Conners suggested that we give it a try. We are regular weekend breakfast outers and finding that new spot is always a treat. The food was good. The service was fine and we were sure we would go back. Then we got our credit card bill and learned that the tip had been tampered with. We informed the owner and he seemed appalled. He promised to look in to it. and then....nothing. Â Really?! I am sure the "rounding" may have come from the wait staff, but, shouldn't the owner care if this happened to a customer? He missed a great opportunity to make a new regular customer. btw....the rounding was only 30 cents! Crazy to think someone would put their job or reputation on the line for so little. So, my suggestion - pay cash.
Review Source:O'Connor's is a great little neighborhood pub with lots of history in the Village. I've found the food to be decent enough by bar standards and they usually have a good selection of beers on draft. They have live music several days a week which can be fun and get a bit old at the same time. The $3.25 Happy Hour is hard to argue with as well.
My favorite thing about O'Connors is the back patio in the summer. Give me one of their Bloody Mary's and some rays on the patio on a Sunday afternoon and I'm more than happy.
We came here for St Patty's day dinner at the restaurant side. There was a 20 minutes wait which I thought it wasn't too bad considering other places were packed.
I had the Corned Beef & Cabbage and Jesse had the Irish stew. My meal came with side of Potato Leek soup and I wasn't a big fan of it. It was tasteless and kinda in the watery side. My Corned Beef was excellent however the cabbage was just blah. They serve these cabbages in big chunk slices. It will be better if they chopped it off or even cut them in halves.
We love the Irish stew which came in Sourdough bread bowl. It was a perfect comfort food for rainy day. I don't know what to think of the rest of their menu. They supposed to be an Irish restaurant, but most of their items on the menu are Southern/Cajun. It was a bit disappointing because we were looking for more Irish food options to celebrate the St Patty's day.
Service was good, but we were not a fan of our table. We got seated by the back door which opened and closed every 2 seconds because apparently that's how their servers serve people in the Annex area next door. I wished we could sit somewhere else but we couldn't because these place was packed.
We might be back for the breakfast, but we don't think we will be back for Irish dinner here.
O'Connor's smells so good. We walked in from the cold and the rain and were greeted by the incredible smell of food. I wanted to order that smell. Whatever it is, I want to eat that! We were four adults and three children so it took a little while for a table to be set up for us. The staff was incredibly kind and kept checking in with us to make sure we were okay and give us updates. The kids were hungry and restless so thank goodness it didn't take TOO long.
Our waitress was a sheer delight: really friendly and funny and on top of it. We ordered Cajun Bloody Marys (made with pepper vodka) and coffees. Immediately waters came out including ones in to-go cups with straws for the kids. We ordered when we were ready and got our food pretty quickly. The kids finally simmered down. The French toast was a huge hit. They finished every bite. I was a little disappointed in the grown-up food.
I ordered a frittata and it was runny on the inside. A frittata is baked and not supposed to be runny. The potatoes were kind of soggy and bland. Our friends, who've been before, ordered sides of the gravy to dip bread in and it was pretty fantastic. My boyfriend got the Hangtown frittata - with oysters and bacon - and was a bit better than mine. The worst, though, was the Bloody Mary! I love BMs and pretty much order one anytime a restaurant features it on the menu. It was spicy but really sweet. I watered it down and it was a little better but I honestly had to choke it down. Might be one of the worst I've had.
Great location and staff but the food and drink puts O'Connor's at two stars. Bummer.
Is it an Irish Pub? Â Is it a southern restaurant? Â Not sure...
The food is basically not good. Â I got fish and chips and the fish was SO overcooked. I would describe it as tire rubber. Â Nobody else in our group liked their meal very much. Â Actually, the side salad that came with my meal was very good, but that was about it.
Our server was very friendly and attentive, but too loud and interjected constantly. Â When she came by our table it was like we all had to stop what we were doing and watch "The Waitress Show" or something.
There are so many great places in MV I would skip this one.
So glad this place keeps their kitchen open until 11pm. After an evening movie we wanted to just sit out and gab for a couple of hours. The waitress was willing to stay a bit later to get our order and bring us our food out of the patio.
I have been here a few times and have enjoyed each meal, I love that they have live music on Friday and Saturday evening. Much more low key and quiet than the surrounding bars and pubs.
Bar is one of Portland's best -- especially if Cash is bartending. Have him set you up with his Spanish coffee on a cold night -- less showy than Huber's, but just as good.
I have been very lucky at O'C's. The specials are usually very good, the sandwiches, burgers and sides are very good... The food is good. Once or twice I have gotten something that wasn't great, but that's out of several meals that were very good. Nothing terrible. Prices are reasonable. Service is always great.
This is one of my all time favorites for breakfast, lunch, dinner, drinks, and live music...it's all under one roof.
Their breakfasts are probably my favorite. Â I love their coffee and their Joe's scrambles. Â There are healthy choices on the menu, but this place specializes in good old-fashioned food...real food, as I sometimes call it. Â You will not walk away hungry. Â You might feel your arteries hardening, but you'll likely be satisfied.
Dinners are likewise tasty. Â When it comes to drinks, they don't mess around; you get the real deal. Â The wait staff is always friendly, chatty and attentive but also quick and efficient.
The most fun to have at O'Connors is when they have local live music in the left-hand section of the place. Â It has a full bar and you can order dinner from the restaurant menu. Â There is one waitress/bartender but she is always running and you never have to wait very long for anything.
I've been here many times and I'll keep coming back.
I have an "their OK/hate" relationship with O'Connors. They committed a breakfast sin a few years back that forced me to boycott them. I was lured back a few times and things have been a little better, so now I'll relay my stories. Pull up a chair friends.
The unforgivable sin was when I asked to substitute "something that wasn't meat" for a side dish. I was nice about my request, and this is Portland, there are lots of people here that don't eat pork. They could have said, "no substitutes," and watched me dine a little bummed, but what happened was worse.
They substituted what they explained as fresh fruit, and turned out to be some kind of partially frozen semi fruit mess-Not edible. The server charged me several dollars for this horrible uneaten mess. This story has been told to many people throughout the ages as a cautionary tale (ok many months). The breakfast served with the side of not-fresh fruit wasn't tasty either. There was a soggy waffle involved, a mediocre omelet, and a rarely refilled coffee mug. It was an ick meal.
Now I've been lured back a few time and no horrors have been committed, just ok food and occasionally friendly staff.
I do like to point out the positives so -
One shining star is a solid veggie sandwich. It isn't abundantly flavorful or creative, but the merging of cream cheese, sunflower seeds, and assorted vegetables on wheat toast creates a kind of comfort food for me.
Another point of light: their late night service is rather pleasant in an area with few late night offerings. It is rarely crowded at midnight on a Saturday. The bartender is pleasant, the food is quickly served, and it is a great place to go if you've had a late night working, aren't picky about what you eat, and just want to relax and watch tv (they actually turned on Saturday Night Live, and it was a lot of fun to watch with a beer!).
So O'Conners your past sin is fading, and I will probably come back again.
I have two words....Joe's Scramble!! Â Met my friends here for my first visit on a Sunday (also happened to be the day of Race for a Cure) and was surprised at how fast we were seated. Â The staff was busy and running around but still made time to check back on us as we sat there and chatted.
I had the Joe's Scramble which includes eggs, spinach, mushrooms, onions and a meat that changes. Â Along with it comes some of the best breakfast potatoes I have ever had!!
My friend got the pancakes with blueberries and bananas. Â Of course I had to take a bite of hers....and another bite....and ok, maybe one more bite.
Even though I live on the East side of town I will gladly drive back over to Multnomah Village to eat here.
Multnomah Village is the only place I would ever consider living on the Westside, and if I did live there, O'Connors would be where I had breakfast.
It isn't innovation that you should be looking for here, but there is something comforting to me about a place that looks like it has been around awhile. O'Connors has been around since the mid-1930's and the menu reflects some of that. Â But you gotta love a place that has hot buttered rum on the menu year round.
I can't speak to a lot of the food. I generally get a breakfast special, Cajun Hash. And it has some kick, which I love. Their potatoes are flavorful without being greasy, but I will admit the scrambled eggs were a bit more done than I like them, getting a little crispy around the rims.
Our service was great, the waitress was johnny-on-the-spot with coffee refills, which makes her near and dear to my heart .
When I first moved into Multnomah Village I was in love with O'Connors. Â Well it's been almost 3 years now and not one thing has changed about the place, which is not necessarily a good thing.
The specials seem to just get rehashed, the 88 year old bartender is still slow as hell and the service is always so-so.
Time for these owners to get inspired.
Oh, the late night menu is decent though.
One of the better late night spots in the area and I mean late, late, late. We hit up O'Connors between 10pm - 2:00am and we're glad that they're open because almost nothing else is. We both work late and sometimes that limits our options. Luckily, O'Connors has decent enough food to keep us coming back. It's a quirky place, and it can be really hard to figure out the menu. At first glance it looks like a Southern infused experience, it's NOT. This is not Norma's Kitchen so my advice is to stay clear of nearly everything that claims to be Cajun. Coming in frequently I asked the staff to explain the theme at OC and they have told me that the main chef is from Montana and wanted to recreate the experience. It's like someone took all the ingredients for Southern food and put them together, but left out the heart and soul.
Now the good stuff: What redeems O'Connors is the fact there are good items on their list. The Cajun Babyback ribs are slow roasted for so long they fall off the bone. They're spicy and they taste great, plus they won't break the bank at $7.95. They do some seafood good like the Razor clams, the fried oysters, and mixed shells. The sandwhiches aren't anything special but they stand out compared to therest of the offerings. One of my favorite things is their hand cut french fries. Reminds me of being a kid when Burgerville served those hand cut fries with the skin left on.
O'Connors has some charm if you explore it enough. It can be mellow at times when just the locals are hitting the full bar. On the weekends it can liven up with an ecclectic range of live music. Which they plenty of space for so even if you're anti-fun-music you can sit far off in the main restaurant and not be distrubed. Overall it's a pretty decent place for Multnomah Villiage and I'm glad they're around.
Visited O'Connors twice; breakfast and lunch. Â Lunch outside on the patio was delicious and unique. Â Little fireballs of jalapeno cornmeal hushpuppies were a treat with the red chili jelly. Â My hamburger was perfect; large, juicy, fresh tasting and hot! Â There are a variety of unique items on the menu and specials every day. Â The chef is obviously a risk-taker and pulls it off. Â Can you say Mexican, Greek, New Orleans and even Asian inspired dishes? Â Yes you can! Â
Breakfast was just okay. Â Nothing wrong, and tasted very good, but the service was just odd. Â Group of waitresses kind of looking lost and confabbing together often; maybe deciding tables? Â Don't know. Â Was just a bit hard to figure out which one was ours. Â But again, the food was good. Â I just have a hard time remembering it!
Came here for breakfast, and it was delightful. My partner and I both had scrambles which had perfect ratios of fillings:cheese:eggs, which seems to be hard to do! I can't remember what scrambles we got exactly, but they were yum-a-licious.
Friendly, prompt service, cute room. I would give them 3.5 or 3.75 though because there were a few flies hanging about --not cool.
I think I am a sucka for enchiladas, quesadilla, well, anything you put in a tortilla really. Â It is strange that a place called O'Connor's would have good Mexican style food, but I have had the veggie quesadilla twice and will go back and have them again. Â I'm meaning to try this multnomah grilled cheese sandwich next time. Â The husband had some pasta the first time we were here for food and LOVED it. Â He talked about it for a week. Â Then he came back and had a burger that was ok, not great. Â I think it might be wise to stick w/ the specials at this place. Â It is kinda pricey for some things, but I like the atmosphere. Â They serve food pretty late. Â I like that it is non smoking in the bar. Â They make a nice strong drink. Â I like patios. Â They have a nice one.
I'll be back for sure.
Nice atmosphere.
Attentive waitstaff.
Fun neighborhood to wander and window shop.
BUT
Red Lion Hotel quality food.
Sorry to contradict all the other reviews. But it was a basic culinary experience for breakfast. Plus I asked for no fried corn tortillas and no side of flour tortillas. They gave me both. Plus my eggs were so slathered in orange cheese that it literally peeled away in a big gob. The salsa underneath was very tasty though. When I found it.
I went on a weekday and didn't have to worry about any wait. The back patio was sunny and cozy. So, you know, if you happen to be there, go. Just to form your own opinion.
The lovely and talented Christine D turned me on to this place on a visit last July. Â It is a neighborhood gem.
Dining on the deck in July was a great plan, as the weather was quite warm. Â There are a lot of pub grub choices on the menu. Â I was with a party of five and cash-poor, so I put the tab on my bank card. Â It did not break the bank.
I've also enjoyed the breakfast here.
I want to make it by on their music nights. Â It looks like a fun time.
I enjoy the quirky, relaxed atmosphere and good service. Â 4 1/2 stars.
What can I say, I love this place. Â
It has daily specials for breakfast and a lot of breakfast items that are not normally offered which makes it different from all the rest.
The dinner specials are great as well. Â They always have a few featured specials along with their old standbys.
I enjoy utilizing the deck in nice weather that is always a pleasant place to dine.
I have went to the room next door for their muscial presentations and that is always a fun place. Â It is a $5 cover but well worth it.
In the last year the place has went entirely non smoking which is fantastic because they offer the full menu in the bar so if it's busy you can use the bar as an additional dining spot.
Hands down, BEST Bloody Mary's in town. Â (Seriously, I can't find one anywhere that is as good as the bartender at O'Connor's makes on Saturday mornings)
This place is awesome! Â Been enjoying breakfast at O'Connor's for as long as I can remember; have never been disappointed. Â Try the eggs O'Connor - it's fantastic.
Don't be in a hurry - it's true, service can at times be slow, but most times they are hopping and it's all good.
Believe it or not, a place called O'Connor's has the BEST enchiladas in town! The food is great, some people say the service is slow, but it's the kind of place you go to chill, anyway. The drinks are great - they have a KILLER Bloody Mary. If you like it spicy, ask for the Cajun Mary - it s made with habanero  infused 101 proof vodka.
It's a great secret little spot in the Village.
Break fast is the best! Be prepared to wait.
Its also a great spot for cocktail. Most weekends, there will be music next door at the Annex
Holy crap, I can't believe I'm the first person to review O'Connors. Â The food is excellent - I've never had a bad meal here in 6 years and believe me, I think I've had everything on the menu by now. Â
You'd think they'd serve Irish food, like Kell's in Portland, but no...their menu even includes cajun specialties that are actually delicious! Â My fave dishes are the Cheese Multnomah sandwich (mmm!), spinach salad, and oh my...let's not forget those amazing hush puppies! Â Don't pass them up when they ask you what you want with your sandwich or burger. Â The bar seating is limited, but very comfy. Â Drinks are always perfect. Â Sit on the back deck in the summer. Â Breakfast is "bloody" great, too, if you get my drift! Â
The only down side is they don't have a happy hour. Â :( Â Staff is friendly and usually on point, unless it's super busy. Â Prepare to wait at busy times, this place is very popular...they usually get you seated promptly, though.
O'Connor's, for me, feels a little bit like 'Cheers'. Â I work in the neighborhood, and after work when everyone wants to go out for a drink but nobody can think of where to go, we go here. Â It's close, it's convenient, and they know us. Â The bartender's name is Cash. Â Aside from the fact that anyone named Cash had better be a rad person, he really is a good bartender. Â Always friendly, always quick, and even puts up with me when I can't think of the name of "that one drink, with the stuff in it...". Â He finds a way to make it for me, and it's goooood. Â The drinks are usually pretty stiff. Â The thing I really like about this place is that it pleases everyone in the group. Â I'm not a beer drinker, but it seems like they have a pretty good selection on tap (at least, that's what my beer drinker friends say) and they even have a decent wine list. Â
As far as the food goes, it's always been good, but never great. Â I can always rely on it to be decent, and they serve it pretty late. Â My boyfriend always gets the chicken and andouille sausage gumbo, which is really good, just too spicy for me. Â They have a regular menu as well as nightly specials. Â I've had some fish here that was a little on the dry side, and a burger that was nothing special. Â Meh. Â But I've also had some good enchiladas and seafood pasta. Â
The service here cracks me up because it's totally hit or miss. Â We've had some great servers here before, and when it's good, it's good. Â Totally on top of everything, no-nonsense, drinks are never empty fabulousness. Â But when it's bad, it's bad. Â I hate to pinpoint anyone in particular, but.....wait, no I don't. Â Seriously guys, there's this lady that works there who is about 45 years old and moves like she's 95. Â Waitressing has chewed her up and spit her out. Â A couple of times. Â I think there was even a joke made about her, and a coffin, and sleeping downstairs....anyway. Â Sometimes it's so bad it's funny.
I love O'Connor's because it's warm and cozy and they're nice to us (except zombie lady) and I like to drink. Â There's nothing spectacular or exceptional about it, and if I didn't work so close I probably wouldn't come here nearly as often. Â But for now they smile at me and keep a drink in my hand, and that's enough for this gal.
O'Connor's is a good standby restaurant. I like the small town atmosphere of the place, and the food is some of the best in the Southwest (of course that's not saying much, but hey, its good).
Odd mix on the menu of different styles, but everything I have had there is at least decent.
Waitresses are funny and sometimes sassy, adding to the fun of the place.
Good food and great fish dishes almost every night. Just ignore the regular menu and stick to the specials of the night.
One of those ol' faithful places where you know you can count on the food being at least a solid 7. Â Great Lunch Deals and pretty exhaustive menu. Â I would be careful asking for your meal spicy as some of the cooks can over season dishes easily!
But lets face it if you want unique dining with a flair for the "whats that!" This is the place.
Don't judge your meal by the presentation or the initial taste... most of the food here grows on you as you keep eating... seriously I had to eat halfway through a unique hazelnut alfredo before decided that I liked it!
** Hint: Â Ask the waitresses what looks good coming out of the kitchen... some days are better than others.... LOL!
