Checked out these place a couple times on Memorial day weekend through a friend who likes stopping in there. We had a few drinks there and played pool. The tables are pretty beat up but didn't hinder having fun. I'm pretty sure they were playing music off of someone's phone but didn't bother to ask as I listen to pretty much anything. Both nights the crowd was very thin but nobody was too awkward.
This isn't a place I would go if I were alone. If you have a group and you are fun people the drink prices are decent and the service was timed well. The staff is very friendly and had a smile on their face when serving so I like that.
I rate it two stars mostly because of the lack of people on a Friday and Saturday night. The place could use a little makeover. If my buddy wanted to stop in there again I would be fine with that but only because it is so close.
DID YOU KNOW THIS PLACE IS OVER 60 YEARS OLD?
We pretty much never go to this bar, even though it's not far from home. We came in on Sunday for the football game but there were no drink specials through the game and our two bottles of Bud Light totalled $7.50. Â They did have some food set up and the bartender was nice, but the TVs were set at odd volumes. And there was a delay between the sets, making it impossible to understand the voices being projected. Â This would be no way to watch an entire game.
This bar is a fun stop from time to time. The place is big. It's a long room and one side has lots of seating, while the other has pool tables. And there's a lot of open area in the middle.
I like that it's been around so long. The bartender this Sunday said he's been working there 41 years. Perhaps he's the manager, or current owner? He was friendly enough, but not overly welcoming. When I'm paying that much for a bottle of domestic beer, it'd be nice to get some conversation to go with it. Though, complementary peanuts were salty and fresh ~ and I liked that!
I have been hesitating writing a review in fear for unveiling this hidden gem... I must say this place has become like a second home!!
The staff is so welcoming and friendly I never feel awkward going there - the other customers are awesome and are great people to talk to. The patio is a pretty good size and The Hangout has a pool table that takes dollars. The drinks are amazingly priced and it doesn't get too crowded!
A great after work watering hole.
I've been here a couple times lately. Hey, if you wana go to a small  bar where you and your friends can take over, and you can always get a pool table, this place is cool. I don't always need to go somewhere that's already crackin, sometimes i'll be in the mood to do the above described night, and it's perfect for that.
Drinks aren't that expensive, sometimes ghetto people come in and become the entertainment, bartenders are laid-back. B.Y.O.F.P.(bring your own fun people) though. It's just your friendly not-flashy-at-all neighborhood dive bar.
We visited the old hangout over labor day weekend, looking for some drinks and eventaully dinner. We asked our cab driver for a recommendation since we were from out of the area and this is where we ended up. At first look, we were a little nervous, but ventured in and ended up having a great night. The other reviewers commented on the fact they do not serve food, and its a bit run down, but the employees more than made up for it. We sat at the bar and watched the game and visited with the bartenders. We even played dice games with the regulars and were made to feel like family. Its not the ritz, but it is a place to feel safe and go have a good time. We started at this bar about 5pm and we were one of the only customers. We left for dinner and stopped back by a few hours later and ended up staying until closing. I would highly recommend this place.
Review Source:This place doesn't deserve prose. Â
$3.50 domestic pint, Inet jukebox, Historical Bar Back wrecked by cheap banner on it. Â Hip-hop white crowd. Â White girls mouthing "N^&&@" along with the jukebox is never appealing. Â Crowd is dead-enders mostly. Â Gallery styled bar with appealing well worn stools. Â 14 people @ 9:45 pm Weekday.
The build could be called deconstrutivism if they bothered to organize it. Â Dark stain bar back, light stained rest of bar if they bother to stain, exposed particle board, jack under pool table, horn speakers everywhere, Large 70" ancient projection TV stacked on particle board stacked on top of marshal size horn speakers. Crazy wood hut at door?
This is just sloppy dorm room decorating being forced on you by slobs. Â Buy yourself a 6 pack shut yourself in a dirty closet and save yourself the gas and grief.
Sometimes a place doesn't even merit reviewing, but just in case somebody is planning on hitting this dive, be forewarned. Â A lot of shady characters inhabit this dwelling. Â The two times I've been there fights have broken out. Â If that's your thing then The Old Hangout might be for you. Â If you prefer more of a mature drinking crowd as opposed to the raucous, deadbeat drunks you find here, then you may want to skip this establishment.
