Nice place to eat lunch on a nice summer day. Me and a friend ate outside and it was a very relaxing atmosphere. Only been here once so I can't say much about their food, but we had their hamburgers and they were huge! Prices were very reasonable as well and we had very good service. Will definitely be coming back.

We come here almost every Monday for taco night. The tacos are not fancy but they are delicious (if you love bar tacos like I do). The price is great and it's a great atmosphere for hanging out with friends. The only downside is their one waiter, who is always rude every time we come in. He always seems like he could care less about our experience and almost acts as if we are a bother. He usually waits in the back of the restaurant so we stick toward the front and have a good experience.

Slow service and the bartender was unsavory. I had a hard time wanting to tip her.

I love the name of this place. It fits my personality to a T. (Well, not the 'Olde' part.)

What do I love even more? Oh, I don't know. Maybe the 50+ beers they have on tap. Granted, four or five of them are wasted on the standard domestic crap, but the remainder will keep you happily occupied if you have good taste. The food is standard bar fare, but I had an excellent spicy chicken wrap here recently. They even offered a side salad instead of fries, which was a nice, healthy alternative.

Now here's the thing. The Jester is not huge. A long bar takes up the front half of the narrow interior and some dining tables take up the back half. So, if you plan on stopping by for a busy Happy Hour or during the weekend, plan on bumping some elbows and don't plan on sitting down. I also believe the term "water closet" was invented here. When you need to go, you'll see why.

I have been going to Court Jester since I was a kid. I love the relaxing, go with the flow vibe there. The food is a step up from Fridays, but would still consider it comfort food. I highly recommend the calamari Buffalo style. I thought it was going to be the most bizarre way to have calamari, but It was truly amazing, the perfect blend of spice and crunch. If you like calamari (like I do), and spicy stuff, this is worth trying. If you go in the summer, it is worth the wait to sit outside. It is generally the best seat in the house, with the best people watching. You cannot go wrong. Another must have, the California Chicken Sandwich. I have been having that for years, and have never had a problem with it! Happy dinning!

Court Jester has been a favorite for years. They did have a little slump in service and quality not too long ago, but things have gotten so much better. There are some servers who have been there for years and appreciate their regulars. I've taken many friends and family members, young and old, and everyone finds something they like. The decor is neat and fits with the historic feel of the area. The bartenders are very friendly, helpful, and make great cocktails. Hooray beer! 31 on tap! My only peeve is that you can't pick your own beers for the sampler paddlers.

The food is tasty with a tex-mex influence. You must get some wings to start. The hubs and I went last night (thurs) and it was Prime Rib Night! I went with a nice med. rare slice w/ sweet potato fries. It was fork tender, juicy & well seasoned. I devoured it while my husband watched in awe. Burgers (patty melt!), chicken, shrimp, wraps, and salads are always great, too. Enjoy!

Awesome place to watch football or just grab a bite to eat. The service is great. I would recommend the Court Jester to all!!!

I've been here a few times and I'm not a fan of the food. I hate the service more than the food. My friend accidentally looked at the kids menu and ordered from it and got yelled at which was ridiculous since it was an accident. The restaurant is also wayyy too tight for my taste.

All I can say is "Meh". The food was rather average. The selection of draft beers are impressive though. If you do plan on returning there, ask the waiter for a draft beer card and try a different draft everytime you drink and the waiter will mark it down. I went and ordered the BBQ Chipotle Pulled pork sandwich and it was okay.  The Menu didn't have much to choose from and I wasn't impressed with their specials. If i had more choices, I would give this place a better review, but for now..."Meh"; however, their selection of draft beer was exceptional.

I was really sick and tired of the service when I was a regular last spring but my random stops in now are pretty enjoyable a decent spot to grab a drink and late night snack and have someone you don't like say hello and ask how you are

After a few of my friends and I moved back to Marlboro from university, we started looking for bars to frequent so as to minimize the effects of withdrawal from college life. This was one of the bars we found. It's a great place to grab a drink, and they have really good specials on Mondays?, I believe [don't quote me on that]. The clientele is pretty varied in terms of age, and there's a lot of space, from the outside, to the quaint, more quiet seating area at the front of the bar, to a larger seating area in the back. Pretty large selection of beers for a place in Central Jersey, which is always a plus. This is all great, if you're only looking for a place to drink. The food is mediocre at best. The wings are okay, and the burgers are nothing to write home about. The nachos, all though they are absolutely bombed out with cheese, get soggy super quickly. If you're looking for a place to drink and catch the game, get there early to reserve a spot in front of the good TV; not all of their sets have HD.

This place is always packed, but I don't understand it. The food is average at best, I've had better in Philly dives.

I ordered a burger and french fries (I know, not real adventurous) after it was strongly recommended to me and it was nothing short of very greasy. The french fries were obviously deep-fried potato wedges and had some sort of seasoning on it.

The restaurant is also extremely small and tightly-packed. You'll be sitting on top of one another and believe me you'll practically be sharing your neighbor's dinner entree. There's a reason the outside seating is so popular here in good weather.

I only went here once and never intend to return. My fiance has gone here a couple times with friends and was never really impressed either...wasn't her choice to go here.

    great food.

wings = thumbs up. burgers = thumbs up. beers = thumbs up.

service was great. I have always sat outside. The inside is small.

a must go if you are in the center of freehold!

Wings and beer = good.  Their Jester burger (w/ "MO" = mushroom onion sauce) is the burger to end all burgers.  And this sounds odd but I wasn't crazy about their fries, so  if you got steamed veggies as an accompaniment, they'd give you the nacho cheese sauce to dip it in.  You know, it's not a regular item, but I would totally go there for THAT.

I generally avoid this place like the plague though mostly because it's like a high school reunion when I go.  I left town a long time ago, don't need to see that.

Court Jester is awesome.  Lots of beers and no frills food inside.  Great for burgers, nachos (best ever), sandwiches and fajitas.

During football they have wing eating contests.  The bar area is pretty small and narrow but it's better to sit outside during the warm months anyway.

If you're around the mall and hungry it's worth visiting the court jester over the food court or places down Rt. 9 in Freehold.

For a local place, they have a decent selection of draft beer... yum! They offer specials throughout the week. Monday nights is one of my favorite (wings & beer!). Their wings are pretty decent.

I think a lot of locals meet up/hang out here (nothing wrong with that). I'll come here when I'm in a low key mood & don't feel like traveling.

This is the only place around that has a decent selection of craft beer on tap.  They have about 20 taps with some staple beers like Victory Prima Pils and Stone Pale Ale.  Good food and a good beer selection.

I love this place. They have the best burgers ever (in my opinion anyway!). The turkey burger is the best I have ever eaten and so is the veggie burger. Even my husband who is a meat-eater loved the veggie burger. The waitress was very attentive and it's a nice spot to sit outside and check out main street.

Cool little place in downtown freehold. Outdoor seating is perfect on a nice day. Lots of beers on tap, has a little old time city feel that's great. Fun place to go, with better than average pub food.

Flew into Jersey today and came to Court Jester straight from the airport with my fiance and future father-in-law...

They chose this place because of the outdoor patio and wide range of menu items.  While it was far from special, it was exactly what we were looking for.  The service was decent after we pissed them off by telling them we would appreciate if they would clean clean our table in a timely manner.  (We were standing waiting for them to clean it for a while before they acknowledged us).

I had the turkey BLT wrap (without bacon or mayo), Mark had the turkey BLT wrap how it comes normally, and J had the portabello burger with sweet potato fries.  We all enjoyed our respective orders just in time to pay before the yellow jackets came out... below are some additional pros and cons from our experience at Court Jester:

    Pros:
*the beer on tap - lots to choose from
*sweet potato fries (i didn't taste them but they looked damn good)
*burgers (same as the fries; i didn't taste it but it looked damn good)
    *outdoor patio
*located in a historic building - gotta love that

    Cons:
    *store bought guacamole
*yellow jackets buzzing around outside on the patio area
*menus were a tad bit sticky

All in all, Court Jester is A-OK... 3 stars!

I've only had bar food which is great. MORE BEER ON TAP THAN any other venue in the freehold area. Long bar that stretches mostly thru the narrow pub. Bartenders know how to make whatever you ask them for.  10 out of 10 for wide selection of booze which is the only thing that matters to me.

Crowd is usually 20 - 30's cept every now and then there is an old cronie that will take up a perfectly good spot at the bar nursing their drink like an infant.

When you order draft beer follow whatever you say with monster and you can't go wrong.

EDIT: don't expect a lot. expect it to be a not so trashy dive bar.

Great burgers and wings. Maybe I'm fond of this place because it's where I had my first date with my boyfriend (I ordered a bacon cheeseburger with mushrooms, grilled onions, and swiss cheese. What a dainty little lady I am.) Every time I go here the food is good. It's worth stopping in and trying the place!

Came here for drinks and a snack with friends, good times. Nothing too special, and kind of expensive for a pub type spot, but there's not much around here so I guess they can get away with it! The waffle fries are yummy, and the honey mustard, once I got it, was an excellent condiment indeed. We asked for grilled chicken fingers, instead of deep fried (Pesach = no battered, also, fried is just getting old). We got 2 grilled chicken breasts. Odd. OK. Whatever, we ate them anyway. Not a bad spot for the dirty jerz.
