If it is a nice summer day/evening and you are in the neighborhood, this is a nice place to grab a bite and people watch!

The outdoor deck overlooking the water is one of the key attributes of this place.  There is a good amount of seating outside and given my brief peek inside, I'd say it's worth the wait if there is one.

The menu has a wide range of options available, including a few for the land lubbers.  My friends were quite into the Mongolian chicken tenders, which had a dusting of dried coconut on top, however they looked a little too smothered in sauce for my tastes, so I passed on those.  The lobster quesadilla also got high marks from the table.  I opted to skip the appetizers and went for a fried seafood platter with clams and scallops.  A heaping pile of Vitamin G goodness came out not long after and I was really pleased with my choice.  The seafood was lightly fried and the scallops had that lovely sweet taste that is hard to replicate at home.  The clams were extremely fresh.  The platter came with fries, a small scoop of cole slaw and tarter sauce.  I overheard another table ask about my platter, as they had missed that section on the menu.  If the fried seafood is up your alley, just be on the look out for it, but fair warning you might miss it on the first read.

Our server was excellent and very patient with our party, and helped with suggestions from time to time.

Stopped by for a few drinks en route to a wedding up at the Lightkeeper's House.  Great little find--it was scorching out and most men were in tuxes so we sat inside at the small bar.  Could see they were doing a hopping business out on the patio by the cove, but not for us--didn't want to arrive dripping wet for the wedding.  Bartender and staff were friendly, making lots if good suggestions.  Johnny Daly (aka an Arnold Palmer with alcohol) seems to be the drink of the summer lately so we obliged. Definitely would like to head back and try lunch on the patio some lazy summer afternoon.

Had dinner on the patio on the most amazing night.  We got drink, apps, then ordered dinner.  Everything was wonderful until they brought out my overcooked hamburger. I brought it to the attention of the waitstaff and within moments a new burger was on the grill and the manager did take it off our bill.  The new burger came out and was awesome!  Couldn't be happier, the safe was fantastic. Can't wait to get back there.

Take a look at the main picture (ohman please let it be that amazing sunset shot with the boats and the colors and the sky thing with the cottony things). See what you see there? That's what you'll see there, from the waterfront deck seating replete with with branded sunbrellas.

As for the menu... there's a menu? The food is supplemental to the view, and the peace of mind birthed by a soundtrack of soft lapping and the occasional gull.

I got the fish tacos (fried haddock, crema, lime, cabbage on two medium flour tortillas) with a handful of baby greens and coleslaw on the side. The meal as a whole is bland and in desperate need of salt, and the haddock itself had the crystalline, dehydrated texture of frozen fish sticks. Service is extremely spotty, with no real reason why - we were the first to arrive for lunch and the only table for 20 minutes.

Still she was radiant, the environment scenic and her mom's mushroom swiss burger looked tempting enough to get me back to the patio later this season. With a salt shaker.

Looking for a nice outdoor spot on the water to sit and enjoy some find New England fish & chips?  Don't come here!  This place totally misses on an amazing opportunity.  The location is perfect, the atmosphere is what you drove down here for, and yet the food and quality is just terrible!

Wife and I came down here for some lunch, to be out by the water and enjoy a beautiful afternoon.  No reservations (which I do understand) but driving 45min to get here, you don't want to wait 30+min for a table.  But we'll let that pass.  So we sit at the bar hoping to look out on to the water also... fail. just another big screen to stare out.  (totally understand that why that TV is there so, pass)

It was a packed Saturday afternoon yet only one bar tender to take care of the bar, and all the outside tables.  The bar was a mess from the previous group and the bar tender did his best to clear space for us, but ended up leaving dirty glasses at the placing next to my wife's.  Fail.

Order the fish and chips hoping for a "home made" or original batter.  No, just your standard pieces of cod, the size and shape reminiscent of microwave style fish and chips. The fries were limp and out of a giant frozen bag.  The coleslaw was OK, but not good enough to defend any of the other elements on the plate.  ...Although, the cod itself was fresh and cooked well.

Why can't the owners of this place take advantage of the amazing location they have, and kick it up a notch??  Just imagine a rustic style, farm to table type, of place.  Now that I would go back to!  This place is OK, if you want nothing special to eat with a great outdoor seating.

Thus far Island Creek Oyster Bar set my standard for fish and chips in Boston.  Olde Salt House, Pass.

This is such a great place to enjoy a nice lunch with a friend or a dinner out with a date. The view is incredible. Enjoy one of their ridiculously good drinks. I am a big fan of Papi's Punch. Yum. The menu is standard beach-side bar fare. Fried oysters and clams, calamari, fish and chips, salads. Good burgers for my non-seafood eating friends. We don't return because of the stand out menu, but because of the view. The food is perfectly fine, the waitstaff is super nice, but the location is absolutely the best. Definitely a favorite summer spot.

The Fish House at Atlantica ( the formal name ) is mostly an outdoor eatery. There are three or so booths inside; great if the weather isn't so hot. Only open seasonally, the real star here is the scenery. You pay for it but it's hard to leave unhappy. Location - great. Food - fair to very good. Great fish, except the salmon, standard salads, good calamari, burgers, oysters, and good scenery. But I said that. The staff ranges from great to mediocre. Well worth a visit.

Went last week, they must have taken the comments to heart because we definitely had a very different experience this time around. Got the fried clams again this time cooked perfectly not greasy, very crunchy good. Fish tacos - awesome - pan seared white fish with a tasty cream sauce and plenty of cabbage. Very good experience. I do prefer the deck on a cloudy day because it can get very hot on a sunny day.

I joined my friends outdoors for lunch past weekend. As soon as I sat down, one of the table umbrellas flew off from another table and speared me straight on the spine. I thought my back was broken which thankfully was not the case. As I walked to the bathroom with help from another customer, the manager came up to me requesting to take down my name. I was in pain and asked the reason for his request. I was annoyed when he told me that he wanted to offer to launder my shirt. The right thing to do would have been to ask me if I was hurt and needed help. Anyways, he later came by and offered to comp our lunch with appetizers and drinks. When the bill arrived we were told that one my drinks was comped. The food was average, however the portions are very generous and table service was good (unfortunately my experience with management was poor even though I did not solicit it).

Unfortunately my wife and I had a pretty bad experience here last weekend...  The food was OK...  Good fish sandwich, salad was fresh albeit uninspiring, and the chowder was overcooked or just sitting for a while because it seemed like it had begun to separate and was not very creamy.

The food wasn't so good but our waiter was worse. He got the chowder order wrong, bringing a cup instead of a bowl and quickly ran off before we could notify him.   Oh and they forgot the spoon.

Also, we ordered an appetizer that was completely forgotten. That was a drag, as I really had a hankering for some fried clams. Our waiter "completely removed it from the bill"...  Well thanks very much for that I guess.

I asked for some ketchup and I'm glad I didn't wait because it arrived more than 10 minutes later...  At that point I didn't need it.

I guess the worst part was that there weren't any sincere apologies. It seemed like he just gave up on us which is a real shame because we are the most forgiving customers you will find.  I was walking to the restroom and he was behind me so he took the opportunity to say that the computers had been "wacky" all day. Doubtful.

The reason why I even gave 2 stars was because the bar staff was great. They look very young but don't let that fool you! Ask for Papi's Punch and be prepared for a delicious, dangerous concoction that tastes like summertime.

I had a delicious, if awkward, lunch here. It was a gorgeous sunny day and we sat outside and the view was lovely and the food was delicious. Service was also very nice.

The awkward part is that it was just me and my father-in-law. I don't even know how it happened that we ended up here. What started out as me saying "I'm going out to do some errands" ended with him insisting that he join me - and then I wound up buying lunch.

Don't get me wrong, I like the man but I've never even had a one-on-one lunch with my own father, nevermind my husband's father. He's a character (to say the least) and he's the type of guy who would be flattered to think people might mistake us for a couple on a date (given my awkwardness, it was clear we didn't come across as natural father and daughter).

I had a Cobb salad that was really good, but I admit it was a pretty boring choice on my part, especially at a place with so many great seafood options. I was nervous so I played it safe.  He had mussels that looked delicious followed by the fish and chips. He ate it all so I'm assuming it was good. I didn't want to linger over drinks so I just had a soda water but he had a couple of beers (after painstakingly asking the waitress to repeat the beer list several times).

I wanted to go back all summer long with my husband so that I could truly enjoy myself, but we never quite made it there. Now I'll have to wait until next summer.

I love this place, even though I always spend more than I ever intend.

It's an awesome spot - right on the water, with a friendly and personable staff.  Easy place to relax and enjoy an afternoon.

I usually order oysters as an app and pan-seared tuna for the entree, and my family has had the Caesar salad, fried fish, etc.  While I'm never overwhelmed by how good the food is, I always have a great time.

Note:  On hot summer days, some tables in the sun can be uncomfortable.

The stars were in alignment today starting with my being able to finish the Sunday NY Times crossword puzzle by 10 AM.  Trust me, that's not a weekly occurrance. So the day was off to a good start complete with sun, blue sky and summer temperatures.  We decided to go for a local late lunch and given the beauty of the day knew that dining al fresco was in order.  Off we went to this lovely spot right on the water in Cohasset harbor.  While it was busy, we were seated right away at a prime table right next to the water. The staff was super-young and especially perky from the hostess to our waitress.  On a beautiful day this place is the kind of setting where you seriously just want to linger.  Right off we ordered beers. They have a pretty good selection of both draft and bottled beer.
After perusing the menu I had wanted to go with the soft shell crab po'boy. It would have been helpful if our waitress had told us they were out of that already. When she showed up to take our orders and then to nix my hope for the crabs, I had to find option two quickly. I chose the Caesar salad with grilled shrimp. My husband got the pulled pork sandwich.  I got a side of fries as well.  While we waited, we enjoyed the harbor view, which included, happy families, kids swimming, boats going by and an amazing pair of yellow labrador retrievers who swam entirely across the harbor in tandem like synchronized swimmers. Gold medals to both of them!  We were happy and very content with our lot.  I will say that our orders took a long time to get to us. But we really didn't care; we had our beers, our view and the rest of this glorious day with not a care in the world.
The one weird note was that while we were waiting we overheard the couple behind us complaining big-time about their food (I don't know what it was though) to their waiter.  Uh-oh.  Our food finally arrived and it was good.  The shrimp on my salad were grilled perfectly although I think one or two more shrimp on the salad for the price would have been better.  There was a tad too much dressing on the salad for me but it was a solid Caesar for sure. The fries were below par and there were suprisingly very few of them placed on a too large plate which accentuated how few of them there were. They ended up looking lost and forlorn, like a sorry after-thought in the kitchen. I'm of the mind that care needs to be taken even with a side of humble french fries. My husband thought his sandwich was good although he said it was not the best he's had but "quite satisfactory". His sandwich was a pretty presentation however. Perhaps so much time was spent constructing his dish that the chef was worn out when it came time to cook up and plate those sorry fries. You know how it goes though; sometimes when you're just happy to be where you are on a picture perfect day it's easier to overlook some imperfections and go with the flow. There was an overall good vibe there today even with the food complaining neighbors.  This place is in a great location with quite decent food. Here's to a great New England summer ahead.

In the interest of full disclosure: I grew up in this lovely seashore town :) But, if anything, growing up in a lobstering town makes you that much more picky about seafood. And The Olde Salt House is a must! Spend a lazy day at Sandy Beach, then ride your bike down to the harbor for a glass of wine or a G&T out on their deck, which has less than 10 tables, right on the water. The deck is the entire restaurant though, so FYI: If it's raining, they're closed! But you can always duck into Atlantica, next door, if the weather turns. The Olde Salt House menu strikes a good balance between New England standards like lobster rolls, fried clams, fish & chips, and some less traditional but no less delicious opps like salmon w/coconut curry sauce. Wave to the fishermen, watch the sun set, and point to the boat that caught your lobster. Can't think of a more perfect way to spend a Summer evening.
