The new outdoor bar coupled with good management, new staff (thanks for the great service Zoe and Illy) and crowd deserves an improved rating. Â
Olde Towne Tavern Lawrenceville has been proactive in regards to families by opening a patio bar which allows for any rowdy behavior to be separate from the family atmosphere inside. Â Definitely give them a try.
After having eaten here several times over the years, I have to say that last night may very well be my last. Â The food is always just average and as many workers as they had on duty last night, the service just sucks.
We had a large party and it seemed as though they couldn't handle us. Â It took forever to get drinks and when we finally got our food, it was wrong. Â I ordered the mashed potatoes and got some type of funky cheese bread. Â WTH?!
Not to mention... Â It seemed they were out of every beer. Â OK. Â Not literally, but there were several that we ordered that they just didn't have.
Anyway, I was not impressed in the least. Â Just pitiful. Â What does management do here? Â Anything?
Maybe it was a bad night for them but they didn't deliver on any front. Â It doesn't help that my brother refused to go there. Â My drink was dropped and spilled on me and instead of an apology I received excuses. Â Then I was still charged for the drink that was spilled. Â Instead of making a fuss about it I just paid for it and left. Â This used to be a favorite hangout spot for my brother and I but not anymore...
Review Source:Just finished my chili. Â It was meaty but did not taste like chili at all. Â I like my chili with spice which this lacked. Â I have been here several times but realized that I have never had a sandwich from here before. Â Today I tried a sandwich. Â It was good. Â Not great. Â One issue is that it was smaller than I expected for the price. Â My daughter, who is not overly discriminating, exclaimed that the personal pizza was not that good. Â Overall, it's an average meal. Â The service was good and I did enjoy being able to watch the game while eating.
Review Source:My wife wanted to eat here so we could sit on the patio. Â Server never smiled once, and was rather unhappy to say the least. Â They ran out of the beer i ordered. Â One small glimmer of goodness was in the spinach artichoke dip, it was actually good (although it seemed microwaved). Â I ordered prime rib cooked medium, wife got some lettuce/pasta salad thing. Â Mine was overcooked and i got attitude from the server when i pointed that out. Â My wife barely touched her weird salad (they didnt make it right anyway, she asked for no cucumber and no onion yet both were put in the salad). Â
My mash potatoes were crusty around the edges as to indicate microwaving. Â My mushrooms were bland as could be. Â No manager came to see us, but a medium prime rib was sent out . Â
Overall a less than average experience, minimal and mediocre service, less than mediocre food. Â Went from a 1 star to a 2 star only because the spin dip was actually tasty. Â
Valuable lesson of the day: NEVER EAT THERE AGAIN.
All I can say is WOW! I went to this place to throw back a few and from the time I walk in, It's eye candy to the left, eye candy to the right of me and eye candy as far as who my server was. Â It's not like Tilted Kilt, silicone valley but it was pleasurable upon the eyes. All of the eye candy that I saw today was all part of the staff. Hmmmm, very interesting. Since I'm an Equal Opportunity Employer as far as women is concerned they all had my eye.
Ok, since that's out of the way, I didn't try any of the food as I've already eaten. The place is nice, upstairs for a party is available if needs be. Â The only downfall with me, take a lucky guess for all of you that knows what I really like. NO KENO!! It's a very nice place and I'm really a fan and will return. Maybe I can get the pic changed to what the place actually looks like instead of emblems.
Had dinner here not too long ago. Honestly, I wish I could say the food impressed me but sadly it did not. I ordered the tuna steak dinner with mashed potatoes and I believe broccoli. All I know is all I ate was the mashed potatoes and broccoli because the tuna was way overcooked till the point of needing something to wash it down with. I am not the type to send food back but I was very tempted to send it back to the kitchen to get something else. However, I just decided to eat veggies which to my recollection was tasty. My date had some chicken dish which was just mediocore. The server was attentive and came by the table often. I don't know if I will give the place another chance since there are so many restarants in the area to try but who knows maybe one day I will pay another visit.
Review Source:Wow, where do I start? We went for dinner and it was a complete disaster!!!!,We ordered our drinks (hubby ordered a miller lite and was told that they may be out) including 2 kid drinks and when the waitress came back she came with a water and a beer - no kid drinks- we were told that they were out of lids so I politely asked the waitress to bring the drinks without lids. Did she think the kids would not drink anything? Finally, we received our drinks, my lemonade came in a plastic cup which was cracked and when we asked for a new cup we got another one that was cracked, this should have been the sign to get the he'll out of there. After 20 minutes of reviewing the menu and waiting for the waitress we started to place our order, I ordered tilapia and was quickly told they were out, also they were out of ribs. Okay, so we looked at the sirloin and then we were told they were out as well, when we finely opted for the kobe beef burger we were told that they were also out. The waitress very politely pointed out the chicken options that were available, really? We didn't want chicken. We finely decided to leave and asked for the check. No manager came by, which only reassures me that they lack customer service. Will not go back! We ended up going to Five Guys just a few doors down and had a better experience.
Review Source:Dinner at 8:30. The band packed and quit at 9:00 but not a bad thing because they were. Service was terribly slow yet business was even slower. Servers were very non-existent. Food was not prepared correctly but I do give the stuffed jalapeno burger a 3.5 out of 5.
Not sure how they are trying to potray themselves but it does not work. No management on site plus no customer service. It has potential given the decor, patio, etc.
My suggestion...stop at what is ever on the next corner.
Dear fellow Yelpers: Â I apologize to you, for giving Old Towne Tavern and Grille only three stars. Â Because, honestly, what does THREE stars tell you? Â If I liked or loved the place, it would have received four or five stars. Â Conversely, if my experience was not good, I would limit the star count to two or one. Â But three stars?... Nearly meaningless fence strattlling.
The interior is nice; dark wood panelling, real gas lanterns, loads of mirrors and huge televisions. Â There is a 2nd floor for large parties. Â The waitstaff is easy on the eyes. Â Bathrooms are pretty clean. Â No complaints here...
The food was served as ordered - no mistakes. Â My daughter's kids burger was prepared as ordered, and served with nice fat steak fries. Â My wife and I ordered salads, and they were fine. Â The waitress made sure our beverages remained full - no complaints here either...
So why only three stars? Â Well because that's what the place EARNED in my opinion. Â Everything was "fine" and "as expected" and nothing was either horrible or fantastic. Â Having said that, there are a LOT of places a family of 3 can spend $30 - $35 for dinner, and many of them are either really good and a few are even EXCEPTIONAL. Â Olde Towne does a lot right, which is why they have been around for a long time, but if I'm looking to spend the same amount of money in this neighborhood, I'm crossing the street and eating at Papis Cuban, or driving to Historic Lawrenceville Square for McCray's Tavern.
The first thing I noticed about the Olde Towne Tavern and Grill reviews were, ...nobody had given their input on the pizzas that this place offers. Since we (me actually) were in the mood for some good pizza, I decided to give these guys a try. We went on Saturday, the day of the 2011 Suwanee Beer Fest at  City Hall Park, which this place is overlooking from their indoor / outdoor patio area. Great set-up BTW, with an "open" bar which allows all windows to slide over to create a very cool feeling of being inside, yet the feeling of sitting outside. They had a guitar player on the patio; not cheesy! ... and a great mix of people. OK... the pizza!!! We ordered the meat specialty; The Piggy Pie. We added spinach, ex-cheese, and ex-sauce. The pizza came out within a very reasonable time-frame. We did not have to worry about asking for plates, napkins, silverware, nor a fresh beer ($2 Sam Adams, Grolsch, and a few other good ones) . The waitstaff, though busy, were right on top of it. The pizza; hot and cheesy, had plenty of toppings. FYI - this is a heavy and filling pizza. It came with a garlic-butter sauce on the crust. I really liked this pie, but... I have a feeling my request for extra sauce was mistaken to mean extra garlic sauce. There was a hint of tomato sauce, which based on the type of pie we had ordered, we knew a request for extra tomato sauce would be necessary to balance the toppings. This is not the fault of OTT&G kitchen staff in my opinion, but maybe, since this was our first time here, the question of whether we were asking for extra tomato or garlic sauce should have been verified by the server. With that said, trust me when I say we ate our share with a smile. We returned today (Sunday the 24th) for drinks and a snack, and had great service from the bartender. We're heading home in a little while to reheat the remaining 2nd half of last nights pizza and watch a movie. We  have even discussed coming back Wednesday night to take part in the wing-thing these guys have each week. FYI - we will most likely order pizzas from OTT&G, and we'll make sure we request extra cook time in the oven for a crispier crust, and extra TOMATO sauce! The place has a large menu (including lobster), so based on that, and our last 2 visits, I  (we) would highly recommend this place. I can't give 5 STARS yet, but I have a feeling it's coming in their near future. Enjoy!
Review Source:I like the food here but the service has been terrible every time I go here! The staff seems to be all female which isn't a problem anywhere else I go. They never seem attentive or really care about their customers. I kind of got the feeling that if I was a dude I would gave gotten much better service! Â
I haven't been back in a few months and probably won't. I'd rather spend my money somewhere that makes me feel like they want it!
I visited this place with 4 other of my girlfriends. We were out of towners from Virginia/D.C area and service was great at first. There were very drunk "regulars" at the bar that continuously made passes at our group, as we ignored and kindly denied. We eventually moved to the outside bar where they followed and harassed us. The owner's son who was the working manager was around, and the bartenders played along with their antics. Eventually the guys became vulgar using very horrible and inappropriate curse words that were also degrading. The bartenders/waitresses told us to not feed into it, and even 'shhh' us repeatedly without saying ANYTHING to the drunk regulars. The families around us were standing up for us and as we wanted to pay and leave because of the poor handling of the situation, the manager apologized to EVERYONE around us and NOT us instead of handling the source of the problem-- the DRUNKS!
If you see a large man, and his friend who went by John....immediately leave!
It's been a several years since we went to Old Towne, so we decided to go back and give it a try. Â The menu is a little less upscale than when the place first opened and it has more of a casual feel to it now. Â The layout is still nice and there is patio seating along with a dining area off to the side that is away from all the noise.
The sashimi grade grilled tuna is a must try. Â I wasn't a fan of the Chinese spice rub, but you may like it. Â A member of our party had the prime rib. Â They said it was good, but the au jus was definitely food service and not made by the restaurant because it was so salty. Â The pomagranite martini we ordered was also very sweet. Â Not how we like it, but you might enjoy it.
Overall Olde Towne is an ok place to go. Â Definitely better than most just to hang out at and have a drink. Â The food is average and nothing to go out of your way for. Â There is a movie theater next door so Olde Towne is a decent choice for dinner and drinks before seeing a movie.
We were in the Suwanee/Duluth area and were looking for a sports bar type hangout joint. Â I really liked the Suwanee Town Center area so we ended up here.
When you walk in, you can't help but notice the dark mahogany wood decor and the bar is sectioned off, separate from the dining area. Â We found seats immediately at the bar. Â It was past dinner time so we ordered their standard nachos platter and it was better than expected. Not the best, but it served its purpose.
The staff was courteous and polite though it did take them a tad bit longer to get us our refills. Â The restaurant was overall clean and seem to attract the locals. Â I couldn't help but notice the banquet area to the right, before you hit the restrooms. It seemed to be the perfect party room for bridal showers, birthday parties or corporate functions.
If I'm ever in this area again, I would probably stop by since it was chill and had "plenty-o-flat screens" to keep us entertained.
#Yelp 365-28/365
I bought a coupon book from one of the neighborhood kids who was raising money for school, and it had a "buy one get one free" coupon for Olde Towne. Â It's less than a mile and a half from my house, and i'd never been there, so I thought "why not?"
Initial impressions of the place were good - the decor looks nice, and the host/servers were well dressed and smiling. Â My girlfriend and I sat down and ordered beers, but they were out of the one we both wanted. Â No biggie, I ordered a Guinness and she ordered a Sweetwater 420. Â Either they got her the wrong beer, or their keg was old, because it didn't taste good at all. Â This should have been a warning, but we pressed on.
We both ordered large salads (a steak caesar for me, and some kind of pasta salad/normal salad with chicken concoction for her) and sat sipping our beers until the food came.
My steak caesar had about a 1/4 of a steak's worth of meat on it, and the lettuce was limp and soggy with dressing. Â I thought I was getting the worse end of the deal until I saw my lovely lady make a wrinkled face at her salad. Â It smelled like feet.
You heard me, feet. Â Not freshly washed, lavender-scented lady feet ... more like overweight, sweaty athlete feet.
She picked at it, more to be polite than anything, and I commented "well, at least it's free."
Our server came to clear the plates, and I handed her the coupon. Â She came back moments later, and said she couldn't honor it. Â The coupon specified "must order from the wood-fired grill selections." Â I pointed out that both of our meals said "wood-fire grilled" next to them, and she pointed out a section of the menu labeled "our woodfire grill selections" which I didn't see before. Â Semantics, in my mind, but whatever. Â
I was willing to chalk up the whole experience to their inability to create salads, but it's clear from other reviews here that they should have spent more money on their food and kitchen staff, and less on tables and chairs.
To summarize: coupon not honored, terrible food and mediocre beer, and nice atmosphere and waitstaff. Â Nothing that you can't get better 2 miles down the road.
Olde Towne Tavern & Grille is an okay place. Â Sometimes it's good food and good service, and sometimes it's not so good. Â I have a hard time finding something on the menu that interests me. Â I tend to get the same thing every time I go which is a wrap sandwich or a salad. Â They have a complete bar, which is a plus if you're a drinker. Â The few times I went there for trivia it was fun, and the wait staff didn't push us out after we finished eating. Â Other times I've gone there I've felt rushed and the food was cold. Â I would go again, but don't expect it to be perfect every time.
Review Source:Friday, Sept. 10th @12noon
Went to this place today for lunch with a group of colleagues. Â My server was very cold and curt. Okay...I overlooked it. Â No worries.
I ordered the Chicken BLT. Â When the food came and I cut my chicken in half- IT WAS STILL PINK IN THE MIDDLE. Â I finally flagged down the waitress (because she never circled back to see if we were okay) and asked if the sandwich could be taken back. Â She inquired why and I told her it's because my sandwich was undercooked. Â She said "Oh, that's how we make all of our chicken sandwiches. Â When I order chicken from here I always make sure to tell them to make my chicken 'well done'. Â " Â (Put heavy stress on the "well done" comment as if she's giving me an inside secret tip) Â WTF???? Â I told her that I have never been to a restaurant that undercooked chicken as a practice and pointed out that this was a health concern. Â She continued to defend the undercooked meat and then quickly snatched the plate stating "I will tell them to cook this sandwich again well done". Â Again...WTF? So you're going to give me the same undercooked chicken breast filet re-cooked? Â I was stunned and she disappeared with my plate in tow. Â Did my waitress just justify potential salmonella practices at the restaurant?
While I sat there foodless, and my colleagues are devouring their plates, the manager came and asked if there was a problem. Â I told him that my chicken was still raw in the middle and to my surprise HE DEFENDED IT!!!!
Manager: Â Is there a problem? Â I hear there's something wrong with your sandwich?
Me: Yes, it's undercooked (showing the pink interior filet).
Manager: Well, that's how we cook our chicken here. Â We don't want to kill the bird twice, ya know?!?! Â Therefore we undercook it to keep it's flavor.
Me: I've never heard of a restaurant serving raw chicken....you know that's a health hazard- right? Â This is my first time at this restaurant, is this how you always cook it?
Manager: Well like I said, we like to keep it juicy. Â Maybe the cook probably gave you the filet that was undercooked on the grill because they are cooking several at the same time. Â But again, we want to keep the flavor of the chicken.
Me:(Blank stare)
They brought me another sandwich (which I threw away because it's sure to give me food poisoning) and then BROUGHT ME THE BILL. You, you heard me. Â Never once did the young manager or the equally youthful waitress ask if there was anything they could do to help me- they both backed each other's acceptance of the undercooked meat.
I will NEVER return to a restaurant that a) refuses to acknowledge and apologize for blatant wrong-doing, b) supports the stupidity of it's staff or mistakes, 3) makes excuses for health hazard practices or 4) doesn't give the customer any consideration beyond "that's the way we do it here".
BEST Lemon pepper wings in town! I love the wings here.
Other than that they are somewhat over priced and having some sort of idenity problems. They are decorated like a 5 star place and charge as if they were such but the staff is so so depending on who you get and the menu could use some help.
Great place, with that Cheers atmosphere. The bartenders are all friendly and remember names and drinks.. The best place in Suwanee for Mojito's.. Ask for Carrie she'll hook ya up. All the gals there are great and friendly.
The food is good and inexpensive. Its in a kool location, if you wan to enjoy a summer night of music. Just grab a seat outside when they are playing the outdoor concerts in the park just walking distance. Plenty of parking. Only down side is when theypm. Â have the outdoor concerts in the park, trying to find a parking space on Friday nights is impossible unless you get there around 4:00
Was treated here for lunch one day and was really really impressed. The restaurant was massive and completely packed during lunch. We were sat right away but it was probably the last table in the restaurant.
The joint was stacked with tv's. I would love to come here on a Sunday and watch every single football game simultaneously. They also have other bar games like golden tee and the bowling.
Food was great. I got a crab cake sandwich and was really surprised at its quality. Away from home crab cake dishes are always a gamble. Luckily this one was traditional and very good.
I will definitely come back here. Especially on a Sunday.
I always enjoy going here when visiting my sister in Suwanee. Â It is technically a sports bar but the extensive menu and dark wood decor give it a more upscale feel. Â I recently enjoyed the crab cake sandwich with a side of sweet potato fries. Â Great portion size and tasty crab cakes with a decent amount of crab meat. Â Their sweet potato fries are also out of this world and one of their signature items!
All of their prices are cheap for the amount and quality of the food! Â
The bar area is also a neat concept, with one side of the bar being on the outside of the restaurant under an awning. Â It's a great use of space and allows you to enjoy the fresh air if you want to sit at the bar versus inside the restaurant.
My only complaint is that all the hostesses and waitresses are a bit young and seem to lack personable customer service skills (which comes off as a bit snooty). Â They all look alike too so it's hard to remember who your waitress was. Â From reading Justin B's review below, who appreciated the all-female wait staff and the attention he received, it seems you have to be a dude to appreciate this factor. Â I just think they could be a little nicer to the females who dine there.
Overall I am glad to see this place in Suwanee Station and will definitely be back!
Everyone has a spot where they go and can just talk. Let loose. Be free with new friends, old friends. Family members you haven't seen in quite some time laugh for hours at your jokes you've told a million times before.
For me, this place is Old Towne Tavern, just minutes away from the Mall of Georgia. Â The food is very filling. I get an enormous belly every time I go.
But folks, here's my favorite part. Are you ready? It's cheap! A great bang for your buck. And, that my friends, makes the food taste even better. Most items cost around $7 or 8 dollars but no more than $15, maybe. Â I see people often pay those prices at a food court with lousy choices.
The menu is traditional American cuisine, and everything taste mmmm mmmm good.
It has a slight sports-bar feel, with TVs everywhere with "the game" on. Â And the bar sits near the center of the restaurant.
The waitresses.... well let's just the they may offend some women for the same reason the men will love 'em. The dress in all black, tight, fitting outfits, usually a bit too voluptuous to be a waitress. They are all women. They tend to have great attitudes and are typically very attentive. Also, it's not uncommon for the manager (a man, by the way) to come out and just check on "how things are going."
Plenty of parking, in fact it's right across from the movies. So, it's the perfect situation for a dinner-and-movie kind of date. In fact, during the warm, comfortable months, sitting outside helps build some fond memories.
All right, what's the only down side? This particular restaurant is far from downtown Atlanta. In fact, all of the sites are far from downtown, in Kennesaw, Marietta, and Suwanee. Also, the side salads aren't that great. In fact, not great at at all. They're bad. It can be a hit and miss with the desserts too.
So, in conclusion, if you're in the Lawrenceville or Suwanee area to do some shopping at the Mall of Georgia, it's worth the trip to drive over to Olde Towne Tavern and get something good to eat.
When I visited Olde Towne Tavern I was very surprised how nice of a sports bar the owner created. Â This place had at least 20 flat panel LCD screens surrounding the bar, all on a different channel. Â Not to mention the 15 other HD television sets throughout the rest of the restaurant in the normal seating area.
I actually asked the waitress if she liked working there and she said "Yeah, it is like an upscale Hooters." Â What she meant is that Olde Towne Tavern and Grille's staff is almost entirely female, which seemed to be very attractive while not looking too sleazy like another Sports bar named after an Owl's nickname.
The food was pretty good also. Â When I go to a Sports Bar I am most likely going to order wings or a burger. Â Olde Towne had both, so I went with their "Jim Beam BBQ" burger, which was tasty and filling to say the least.
Aside from the wait staff and bartenders at Olde Towne having a literal attractive appeal, they are pretty good at what they do. Â I think I had at least 3-4 different waitresses come by my table and check on me. Â You can't buy better attention oriented service.
