One of the best pizzas I've had in years. Â High-quality, perfectly browned cheese. Â Tangy, not-too-sweet sauce. Â And a crust that you can actually taste. Â If I didn't live hours away, I would probably eat here at least once a week. Â If you're anywhere near the area, don't pass it up; it's one of a dying breed.

Review Source:Driving to Whiting, IN for pizza - even when you live in da region - seems kind of stupid but when my mom suggested it I thought WTH.
Gotta' say - it was worth the trip. John's is the ONLY pizza I voluntarily eat meat on. The garden has sausage, green pepper and mushroom. The sausage is mildly spicy and covers the whole pie as it is ground up, not in chunks like most sausage. It is not greasy, probably because it is precooked and well drained. That said, this is THE BEST JOHN'S PIZZA I HAVE TRIED! The crust, unlike most of the John's, is crispy and dry.
John's cuts pizza in strips leaving me with four nice, big corner pieces. I love the corners and this pizza was really crunchy without being dry. The two of us would have been fine with a medium but I couldn't pass up on the left overs for lunch the following day.
We each had a salad. It was rather uninspired with simple iceberg and green leaf lettuce, red onion and tiny cut cherry tomatoes. But add garlic dressing and it becomes a work of art! The dressing is made at the restaurant and is very thick and creamy. The waitress told us she orders pizza and dips it in the garlic dressing. Got to try that one.
The bar is tiny and the dining room a bit cramped. Two giant, flat screen televisions dominate the walls - both tuned to sports channels that no one seemed to care about.
The waitresses were cheerful and helpful. Our bill came to $38 for two salads, a club soda, two glasses of okay Chianti and the large pizza.
I will definitely be back for more of the Best John's Pizza. Whiting - go figure.
