The high ratings for this place are a bit shocking. I've heard good and bad about this place, so I decided to try it for myself. OK, we had fish, not steak, so maybe that has something to do with the opinions. I'd describe the sides we had equivalent to high school cafeteria food. The mash potatoes, vegetables, rolls and salads were just OK. The fish was just OK too. We had the sword fish and mahi mahi. The restaurant was very loud and the service was OK.

Want a Great Steak !!!!! Originals will not disappoint, Â I've been here about a half dozen times and every time has been equally impressive. Be aware of sporting events because if you are not and stumble in here on say a Terps basketball night,, you will be waiting a while for a seat. Any peak times reservations would be a good idea. The atmosphere can be a little noisy, they are almost always crowded and frequently with excited sports fans! The staff is always very warm and welcoming, The rolls which come with your meal are fantastic ! The salads are fresh and plentiful, I prefer the wedge with Bleu Cheese. The real treat is the entree of course, and while others in my family rave about the salmon and the chicken, when I go to Originals I get Steak !!! And they know how to cook steak, rare is rare like it is supposed to be. I generally like to get the Porterhouse. The sides also are always very good, the baked potato's and sweet potato's are huge. Like French onion soup? They do that well too ! The desserts are pretty good. The lunch experience is similar but less busy and a lil bit quieter. If you are like myself, a sports fan, they have you covered in spades with about 15 TVs about ten of which are in the bar and are big projectors, the others are throughout the dining room, and a couple of these are always tuned to Nickelodeon or some similar kids programming which I think is perfect. They hold the door and welcome you when you arrive and hold it and ask about your visit when you leave ! From start to finish....... Awesome
UPDATE : Ownership has changed, It is no longer Originals, it is The Steakhouse. They tried to make the switch transparent. Unfortunately the experience has declined decidedly. The last few times I've gone, the steak has not been cooked correctly, the bread (Which was a signature portion of the dinner it was so good) was cold and hard and the sides were not fresh like they used to be. My last visit I got the Porterhouse, medium which is my "go to" menu item here. It was cooked way past medium, no pink, dry. This time I sent it back, its not cheap and this IS a steakhouse. The Manager came out and apologized, but then suggested that it was cooked correctly, the lighting just made it appear incorrect ! Are you crazy !!!!! They cooked another one, which I appreciate, don't get me wrong, but it wrecked my dinner with my wife because she was done when I got it. Now having complained that it was over done, the replacement was sure to be spot on right ? NOOO, It was over cooked again, though not as severely as the first one. It was now medium well instead of well done, but nowhere near medium, I aint sending it back again !! This is a Steakhouse, claiming to be The Steakhouse. Originals prided themselves on your steak being correct to the extreme of making you aware of what to expect when you order, I order Medium the waitress would say you under stand our medium is very pink almost red in the center. They did this for what ever your preference to make sure you were getting what you expected. They no longer do this, or haven't my last few visits, and they've screwed up at least one steak every one of my last few visits. I'm getting real close to Done with The Steakhouse, Its too expensive to not get it right, and if you are a steakhouse, It should be right !!!!!!!!
