Wharfside was close and an easy place to stop for a drink and quick dinner. The bartender was so friendly and made us feel welcome. It was karaoke night and the place was comfortably full, with locals coming in and going out. Seems like the best deal is the specials, giant racks of ribs were delicious looking, but we got sandwiches.
Drink pour was pretty light, we got mixed drinks maybe bottle beer or wine is a better deal?
Reuben with fries and slaw was good, meaty and well prepared. Burger was also perfectly done and the fries were super, too. We both agreed that the slaw was watery and lacked flavor.
One thing we noticed was that there seemed to be as many staff as patrons. No complaints, but there were so many workers it seemed excessive. Staff were bumping into each other and the place is small to start with, but it got the job done and that's certainly not my concern.
We will go back and try one of the specials, they looked great and people were ordering the heck out of them.
I don't know what has changed since the other reviews of this place, but my family and I were most definitely not impressed. Â
I was very excited about trying this place out after reading good/great reviews on this and several other sites. Â THE most important thing at any restaurant is the food, and WBG did NOT deliver. Â
Everything tasted institutional, as if sysco food systems provided all the food. Â The three of us all agreed that nothing tasted as if it was made fresh from scratch. Â Adding to this suspicion was the fact that all our food came ten minutes after we ordered. Â Fast service is generally a good thing, but here it may be indicative of reheated food...
Chicken marsala should be 'gourmet fare' as posted by an earlier reviewer, but it was basically rubbery chicken, stale mushrooms, and gravy that did not at all taste like Marsala wine.
Like I said, I really wanted to like this place. Â I just couldn't because the food was just not good. Â
Too bad...
