Wharfside was close and an easy place to stop for a drink and quick dinner. The bartender was so friendly and made us feel welcome. It was karaoke night and the place was comfortably full, with locals coming in and going out. Seems like the best deal is the specials, giant racks of ribs were delicious looking, but we got sandwiches.

Drink pour was pretty light, we got mixed drinks maybe bottle beer or wine is a better deal?

Reuben with fries and slaw was good, meaty and well prepared. Burger was also perfectly done and the fries were super, too. We both agreed that the slaw was watery and lacked flavor.

One thing we noticed was that there seemed to be as many staff as patrons. No complaints, but there were so many workers it seemed excessive. Staff were bumping into each other and the place is small to start with, but it got the job done and that's certainly not my concern.

We will go back and try one of the specials, they looked great and people were ordering the heck out of them.

I don't know what has changed since the other reviews of this place, but my family and I were most definitely not impressed.

I was very excited about trying this place out after reading good/great reviews on this and several other sites.  THE most important thing at any restaurant is the food, and WBG did NOT deliver.

Everything tasted institutional, as if sysco food systems provided all the food.  The three of us all agreed that nothing tasted as if it was made fresh from scratch.  Adding to this suspicion was the fact that all our food came ten minutes after we ordered.  Fast service is generally a good thing, but here it may be indicative of reheated food...

Chicken marsala should be 'gourmet fare' as posted by an earlier reviewer, but it was basically rubbery chicken, stale mushrooms, and gravy that did not at all taste like Marsala wine.

Like I said, I really wanted to like this place.  I just couldn't because the food was just not good.

    Too bad...

I love this bar,  especially spaghetti night.  Favorite restaurant.

But don't come here and make it crowded!

I had one the best steaks I have had in a long time there and I am picky about steak.  great job.   The only compliant I have is the confounded tall tables and slippery chairs!  you can't relax and have a dinner hanging on the whole time!

Restaurant - clean,  new paved parking lot.   (would rather still have rocks and nicer chairs)
    Food --  good, some excellent.
    Service -- good
Attitude -  great, always friendly, chatty and helpful with a smile.  -- these are the things that matter.

Gourmet fare at a "Bar & Grill?" Yep!! My husband and I have been here over and over again and only had one iffy meal (tough prime rib... once!) on which the owner Rick solicited our comments even before we had to say anything, as he had had it himself and was not happy. Always try something on their nightly specials as they really are special. Also good Sunday brunch. Great food, reasonable prices, very friendly, casual atmosphere where you can watch sports or play Keno.  What more can you ask?

Whenever I pass this  cape cod like "house"  located on Rt. 214 in Edgewater, it always has a full parking lot.  We have been here twice and have not been disappointed.

You really can't get more local than this.  There are maybe a dozen tables and a dozen bar stools nestled against the L shaped bar.  It's tight, but nobody seems to mind.  The menu is small and all over the place.  Some sandwiches, burgers, a pasta, steak, and some small salads and appetizers.  They have specials every night and Thursday it was bbqd ribs and 1/2 price margaritas.

I didn't go for the pork, but I figured I would try a taste of Mexico.  Ouch.  The drink on the rocks sans salt, tasted like the bad sweet & sour mix you buy at the store -filled with corn syrup and some type of citric acid.  C'mon.  Just juice some limes and make a simple syrup.  Oh well the only downfall of the evening.

The last time I was here, I had the shrimp scampi which is a regular on their menu.  It was quite good after a bit of doctoring with parm,  salt and pepper.    I really didn't have a taste for much, but my eyes lit up when I saw the cheesesteak sandwich (mushrooms and onions extra).  I know I am far away from Philly, but I ordered it hoping for at least an edible sandwich.

My husband ordered the burger.  You have a choice of sides, so I got the hand cut fries and he got the slaw.  The place is quite dark so when the food arrived, I wasn't quite sure of how things looked.  In the end, it didn't matter.  I took a bite of the cheesesteak and my heart skipped a beat.  It was REALLY good.  I actually had to wipe my chin from the juice.  The meat was tender, the bread perfect, and the provolone just right.  If I am ever having a craving for a cheesesteak, I will make it a point to come here.  I hope the second time around is as good as the first.

The fries were good, but I was determined to finish my wich so I had a couple and ignored the rest.  The slaw was good too.  My husband was impressed with the burger.  It had a great char grilled taste and he rated it a 7 out of 10, which is quite high on our burger meter.

Anyway, I like this place.  The owner came by and told us they were trying out karaoke for the first time on Thursday nights.  That's why there was a guy busily loading electronic equipment in the corner during our meal.  Hey whatever works.   It's not my cup of tea, but I would imagine it might be for some of the other locals.
