I came here with our extended family last month for dinner (about 10 people) and we had reservations. We were all able to sit as soon as we arrived. The problems came once we got our food. I ordered Fettucine Alfredo. Prego sauce is pretty much the same as here. My meal looked like a college student's dinner. My husband got spaghetti and his thoughts were on the same page as mine. Not sure if our server was new or not, but he was all over the place. He brought wrong dishes twice and then forgot one all together! The dinner just wasn't what we expected unfortunately.

Disappointing.  and OVER-PRICED.  These are definitely not the same recipes that I was used to having a few years ago.  Their special bread is no longer such, it's just ciabatta.  I recently brought back a huge order my co-workers.  Every salad was about $10.  That's just nuts when it's nothing special and you can go to Applebee's or Chili's for a $6 fulfilling lunch.  Also, not everyone got a piece of bread to go with their meal.  When I came up the the counter to pick up the food, I watched as the cook just fluffed through all the boxes picking up the meat with her dirty glove to check and make sure the items were correct.  It was a bit sickening.  Can't you do that before you close it without touching everything?

WOW what the heck happened to my favorite place to eat - well with the passing of our dear friend George, the place has new owners that will end up running everyone away. After 12 years of eatiing here...I will never go back! The owner has a bad attitude and will doesnt understand that quality, and price will keep him in business....so POOF be gone JERKBALL. Yes I am mad that I have to watch this place go under :(

I have been to papa joe's many times and normally have a good experience. However, I had the worst experience tonight. I waited an hour for my salad, and I had to finally walk up and ask if our order was forgotten. The manager came over and was so rude I may never go back.  When we finally got my food, the salad was not the right one. Very disappointed with this experience!!

Breaking my heart ... I have been eating here for over a decade. It is my go to place for italian. Tonight was a disaster. salad had a "dirt" taste. Asiago chix was bland-this is my favorite dish and super favorable usually but not tonight. Multiple servers at our table-all nice-but not real sure who was actually our server. Orders came out wrong - sauce on ravioli not on the side, sweet tea instead of regular, etc. Waited forever to pay finally went to the hostess and asked to pay. There just were not enough severs and no matter how hard they tried - they couldn't keep up. Sad thing was it wasn't even crowded ... This was during early dinner time with no wait and empty tables....can't imagine how bad the dinner rush was! Sad, really sad - this was an iconic family tradition and it's a shame to see it go down so quickly.

Really good italian food. The bread was great, my meal was awesome, and I loved the ambiance of the bar area. There was a live piano, and the walls are covered in neat artwork and antiques. The service I received was not as nice as I would have expected from a quality place like this, but other members of the waitstaff seemed to be doing a better job, so I'm chalking it up to a fluke. There are two other locations, in Indiana, so I'd still consider this locally owned, and I feel good about giving them my business.

A pretty good place. A little pricey, but good for a moderate-high price night out. The atmosphere in the bar area is much nicer than that of the rest of the joint. The live piano ambience was great, but our waiter was kind of awful. He described the special as a "steak, with some marinara, or something." and his cellphone rang while he took our order. Clearly he was from the more casual half of the restaurant. But the rest of the experience was good.

We have eaten here a few times in the last few years, the most recent last week.

I see that there is one customer that had a bad experience there and I apologize.  I don't work there, just have eaten there on occassion.  I would feel the same If I were you.  I would encourage you to give them another chance if you are in the area again.  We usually do not sit in the first section.  Our waitresses have been nice and professional.  Our food is good and tastes great.  We read at the cash counter that George has recently passed away and our condolences go out to his friends and family.

There is another one up closer on the north side with a different atmosphere altogether.  We have been there once, but prefer this one as it is quieter.  My husband absolutely loves this place.  We eat there about once a year as it is a bit pricey, but very good food.

They do have a bar area in the back, but it is mostly a dine in restaurant.

This was, by far, the worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant!! I am new to the Indianapolis area and this restaurant was recommended to me by an associate of mine.

In a few reviews I read on this site I saw that the lasagna was "great" and my associate recommended their ceaser salad. In another review, someone said something thing about their decor, which in my opinion, was everything horrible about Italian culture just threw up in this place. Cheesy statues, pictures of wine bottles on the walls, about one hundred photos of random people literally screwed into the walls, and was outdated in general.

The service was horrible. There was a couple who came in about five minutes after us who received their drinks (they were obviously regulars) and their orders were taken before we even got our drinks... and we had the same waitress!! The kitchen was semi open so we got to hear all the kitchen staffs complaints and could witness their disgusting attire. Their was a large metal bowl of flavored oil on the counter with no cover on it that was being spooned out onto plates to serve with bread.

We ended up ordering the "Gouda and Spinich Dip" for an app., I ordered the 1/2 order of lasagna and a side ceaser, and my boyfriend ordered a sausage and extra cheese calzone. The salad came out quick but looked pre-prepped (Meaning they made a ton of em ahead of time and pulled it out of the fridge. The dressing was served on the side in a plastic ramikin. I didn't ask for it on the side) . Since we were seated by the kitchen we could hear the whole conversation between the server and the kitchen staff: "Where's my "Gouda"? Our entrees were in the window already. She told the kitchen staff to take the entrees back and give her the Gouda. When she brought it over I told her to just wrap it out and we would take it to go since our entrees were just getting cold in the window. When she told the kitchen staff she wanted the Gouda to go and the entrees back, the guy literally rolled his eyes right before he made eyes contact with me! I couldn't believe it!!! Then, when I got my "lasagna" it was literally just lasagna noodles layered with cheese and red sauce on top (not my idea of lasagna), and my boyfriend got a pepperoni and sausage calzone (not the sausage and extra cheese he ordered).

And to top it all off, when I was gathering my things to head out the door I saw a server handle food with her bare hands!!!!

I would never go here again nor would I recommend it to anyone!!!

The food here is absolutely amazing.  Clearly a place I would brag about!  Portions are huge...a great place to go and share a meal...or save some for tomorrow, and the next day, and the day after that.

Love Papa Joe's, but love the original location more for nostalgic reasons.  That being said, I can easily recommend Papa Joe's in Avon for a pleasant experience and good food.

Papa Joe's is a great family-owned Italian place.  Good food, decent wine and a comfortable atmosphere.  This is a great spot if you are in the mood for a casual and tasty meal.

I LOVE the spaghetti and meat balls.  They have this classic down.  They also have really good salad dressing, I'd recommend the house creamy Italian or the Bleu Cheese.  They also have unlimited hot bread.  The cannoli is my favorite, I always save room.  My family loves the raviolli.

Sometimes they have a piano player on the weekends, very sultry and fun!

This is a great spot and reasonably priced.

My husband and I have been trying to support the family owned businesses in the area instead of frequenting the chain restaurant stand bys.  We decided to give this place a try and are glad we did.  Wonderful italian food, huge portions and decent price.  My husband had a calzone that was easily 12 inches by 5 inches rectangle.  The meals are your typical italian fare and all come with salad and bread for about $8-12.  More than reasonable considering neither of us could finish half of our food.  We will definitely visit this place when in the mood for italian.
And as another review said, this is in Avon, not plainfield.

Confused as to why it's being shown as located in Plainfield...when it's location is in Avon (Dan Jones and 36)

Anyways the food is good. I love the salads and amount of salad you get for the price. Plus garlic bread and butter...

The pasta is alright as well. It's declined in quality a little the last couple of years but I usually get the veggie lasagna and it's a two person sized entree. I've heard very good things about the eggplant parm. and baked ravioli.

All in all I would recommend Papa Joe Jr's to someone who wants a better quality Italian experience in Avon than Olive Garden (which is definitely not my favorite but passable). I can't say it's completely a memorable experience though you will leave FULL:)
