My wife and I enjoyed Papa Gs. We went on Sunday for the half price apps. Free pool was great and we met some good people. The service was decent. The only minus was the smoke because we are non smokers but other than that everything was good. The place has changed since the last time we went and since all the reviews. They have more pool tables and are definitely bigger than before. We were surprised by the Texas Cajun Fries. They were very good. For fun, quick food and a good atmosphere with good drink specials Pappa Gs is the way to go.

This is a neighborhood joint with cheap drinks and surprisingly good burgers.  You would never guess, but their shrimp cocktail is one of the best kept secrets.  Plus, on Sundays, it is HALF price for a big ole bowl of large and spicy shrimp.  It is a dive-y hole in the wall kind of place and I'm in the mood for that sometimes.  They do allow smoking, so if you are allergic or asthmatic you will have to skip this place.

Been to this place once ... and that was enough to leave a bad taste in my mouth.  I've never walked into a place and gotten so many dirty looks.  There were 2 pool tables that are way too close to one another and honestly this place just didn't do it for me.  But I gather since there are literally NO places to go out in the midcities area ... this is the only alternative for most.

I didn't get the opportunity to try the food as I had already eaten, so I'll have to update this review a bit later as to me, bar food is a big part of what makes a bar a good bar.  I know Bedford allows smoking, but I'm deducting because the ventilation is poor and they allow cigar smoking. I haven't smelled that bad after leaving a bar in some time.
As for the bartenders and waitresses, our group got good service from what I can tell. I know I did minus an extra drink being on my tab. However that was my fault for not addressing it / realizing it till after I had left.

I am being generous by giving 1 star to this place.

The Redhead and myself headed over there after a fair weather friend invited us to hang out. He later tried to tell us not to come...but us being the original Mean Girls...we had to go and experience the shit show known as Papa G's.

Ample parking....and next a Burger Street and Taco Bell...perfect for drunk after bar treats...and a future DWI. The place has a plethora of neon beer signs and looks like they havent cleansed the bar in 20 years. Dont take your heels off while drunk in the bar and attempt to walk back to your car....you are liable to get gangrene here. The service is crap...and it seems like they cant even mix a vodka tonic together....doesnt take much....vodka...tonic...oh...and a lime. I guess no one orders anything more complicated than a beer. The crowd....I have to say....whats with the influx of ugliness???? I understand we are at a complete dive...but at least make an attempt to present yourself better. Gnarley bearded guys and morbid obesity runs rampant here. I wouldnt recommend this place if you are looking for a one nighter...unless you have your beer googles on like Barry Badrinath from Beerfest (A little slap and pickle...LOL!!). I did manage to meet some people that didnt have a stank attitude and sang a karaoke song. I shut the place down with my own rendition of Kim Wilde's "Keep Me Hanging On". Got a standing ovation of course ;-)..hehe!

The good....cheap drinks. Thats about it.

Papa G's is one of my favorite hangouts. The entire staff is friendly and attentive. The food is way above par for bar food. Even when there's lots of people, it never feels crowded. The vibe is laid-back, casual and blissfully non-trendy.

Papa G's isn't out to impress anyone and people of the same caliber like it that way. If you like them, they're cool with that. The only times service has been slow was when there was one person behind the bar in between shifts.  I've never witnessed or received poor service.

It's the place locals go to to watch sports & play video poker. They have free wi-fi available, which is a plus. More outlets (there's one I know of) would be lovely.

Favorite Appetizer: Bases Loaded Fries (runner-up: Sliders)
    Favorite Entree: Pulled pork tacos

One of my good friends lives near Papa G's and we always end up going purely because of his laziness. While I personally prefer Papa G's to Duke's Original Road House, both are ridden with foul service, poorly made drinks, and watered down pitchers. I would stick to bottled beer and shots here, as anything else is seemingly too complicated for them to conjure up. The bar tenders and waitresses are more intent on puffing their customers up with flirtations than actually providing service, so the very act of acquiring a drink can become challenging.

There are some strong points here. Free pool during certain hours, sometimes the odd beer doesn't get tacked on your tab, and there's nothing stopping you from smoking anywhere you'd like.

As far as negative elements, well, they are bountiful. Ancient CRT projection televisions that are in desperate need of calibration are pretty much the only thing to watch, and the bathrooms can't be locked, and are somewhat unkempt, and the staff is pretty much oblivious to your existence unless you're there Monday through Sunday.

This is the easiest review to write: Papa G's is horrible. Stay far away!

A friend and I came to watch Thursday NFL football while having dinner and beers. The place wasn't really busy. There was a crowd at the bar and only a dozen people in the table area. One server was sitting near the pool table area and two others were working. It took the blonde waitress, no idea on her name, about five minutes to even notice we were at a table. I need to mention me and my friend are both over 6-foot, two inches and very large. We ordered two beers and asked for menus. After another five minutes, the waitress showed up with the beers and no menus. We tried to get her attention - literally waving my arms over my head - and never managed to get her to look before she went into the kitchen. I was watching for her return, once again, to attempt to get her attention when she came out of the kitchen. She emerged from the kitchen, went over to where the other restaurant staff sat in a booth, and sat down. That was the break point.

This entire episode took place within a 20-minute; NFL pre-game was still showing with the countdown clock. We could've walked out of the bar without paying and she never would have known for a while.

When I walked to the other side of the room where she was and told her to close our ticket, she didn't have any comments. I'm sure she complained to her coworkers about the $9 that I handed her on a $8.50, two-beer ticket.

Don't bother with this place. I strongly suggest going to the No Frills Sports Grill. Perfect service!

BTW: We were going to pay for dinner and the entire evening on the company credit card. The No Frills Sports Grill were probably glad for the $60 in sales and the server was probably grateful for the 30% tip.

Cheap Drinks.  Karaoke.  Awesome staff.  Delicious bar food.  Huge place that never feels too crowded.

The bathrooms are a bit gnarley... Clean that up a bit and I'll five star the fuck out of this one.

    Good, local fun.

I think the food here is pretty good, but I've had really rotten service here. I've gotten up more than once & walked out because I couldn't get waited on. If you sit anywhere but the bar it's hard to get service & they don't tend to make you feel welcome unless you're a regular.
I will go again, but if the trend continues,I'll mark it off my list.

I used to go to PG's when I lived in Keller. I liked it there, but I'm glad they moved because the Keller PD used to camp out and just wait for people to leave. Being the *only* bar in Keller meant the PD could get their DUI quota in one night.

I don't know how long the Bedford PGs have been there, but it's a very low-key, easy to get to location located in a moderately-occupied strip  along 121 and nestled next to some homes and apartments. As such, it has a very local feel to it. So local in fact it has/had an active Myspace page and you'd actually see inside PG's the 'friends' from their myspace page. No one is going to drive more than five miles or so to get there, so it is moslty local (ie, I live 2.0 miles and stop by occassionally).

I have been pleasantly surprised by the food. Better than everage bar food, which by default, I always assume it is going to be flash-fried pre-frozen Schwann's-grade Food Units which always leave me with one thought: "Meh, it will make a turd." But I have - on occassion - found myself thirsty *and* hungry and PGs comes to mind. The drinks are good too, and as Josh noted, the service is very sweet and attentive. I had to use the old, "Slow me down babe," a few times after pounding a few pints on a hot summer night. The decor is very mid-Cities sports bar-ish: Neon beer signs from liquor reps, big screens, and a pool table(s). Very forgettable inside, but the 4 stars is for (1) the local feel, (2) not a trend-setter DB in sight, (3) good service, (4) decent food, and (5) ice cold beer.

Local bar is local favorite. The moment you walk into this bar you can sense the good time that was had the night before. This place became headquarters for a group of my friends and me who were looking for a friendly bar to frequent often. PG's delivered with a great staff who knows me by name and the girls behind the bar don't even bother to ask me what I'm drinking, they have it ready when I get with in range to take from their hand. The scene is always vibrant ranging from service industry to suits just out of the courtroom.

Make sure to say hey to the DJ and put in a request for a song that gets you going, PGs is all about making sure you have a good time!

I started going to this location of Papa G's shortly after they opened and it was love at first sight! You walk in and the 1st thing you notice are the TV's, they are everywhere, just like a good sports bar!

The food is great, as far as bar food goes, and the wait staff are cute and attentive.

If you're a football fan, this is a great place to watch the game. Lot's of different teams are represented by the locals but, of course, the Dallas Cowboys crowd always dominate (GO COWBOYS!!).

If you are in the area, stop by, have a beer, grab a bite and relax. Papa G's never disappoints.
